Virgin Mint

This is my updated review and final verdict of Virgin Mint. Down below you can find my "first impression" which I made earlier in the year after I first got the bottle. Virgin Mint is fantastic, and one of the best, if not THE BEST mint fragrance I've encountered (it's a close call next to James Heeley Menthe Fraiche). To begin, it's exceptionally fresh, vibrant, and natural. The mint is a sparkling, crystalline green that shimmers in the air around it and gives the wearer a cool, refreshing, and bright aura. It's airy and even slightly aquatic; not that there are any kind of "marine" smells occurring, but it leaves a very breezy, at times watery impression. If I were to place the mint itself in terms of the almost-candy-like sweetness it can sometimes possess versus the unsweetened, herbal quality it shows at other times, that displayed in Virgin Mint probably lies directly in the middle. It's a very natural mint, with hints of some sweetness but also some degree of an unsweetened, herbal quality. It's balanced by bright citrus notes in the opening, crisp and energetic, which give Virgin Mint some initial bite. And due to the presence of geranium, along with the citrus notes, you also get a bit of that "citronella" smell which is largely present in the opening of another excellent mint fragrance, Geranium Pour Monsieur. If you're familiar with GPM, I'd say the citronella component in Virgin Mint is significantly less intense, but still present and noticeable enough to impact the overall smell of the opening. The citrus gradually settles in over the first hour as the mint really becomes the central focus of the scent. Virgin Mint has an interesting dry down, or base phase. After about 3 or 4 hours it develops a gentle earthiness, moving away from the mint to some extent and becoming more reflective of vetiver and possibly some patchouli. These notes are blended with musk and result in a soft, musky-earthy aroma with light mint notes remaining from the opening. I think Virgin Mint has good performance, though some may find it short-lived. But don't forget to put it in its proper context--mint/citrus fragrances. As far as those go, VM is doing just fine. It projects very well for the first hour, really getting out there and leaving a nice trail of sillage in its wake. It's still quite noticeable during the second hour and it's not until the third and fourth when it becomes fairly quiet, sitting close to the skin. By the 5th and 6th hour it's mostly a skin scent, giving off occasional little wafts here and there. For mint fanatics this is 100% a must-try. Though it's very hard to find (even more so than Mystery Tobacco and some of the others), it would be worth tracking down a bottle if you can. My final rating for Virgin Mint is a solid 9/10, and I'm almost tempted to give it a 9.5. While I don't believe in a "Holy Grail" of mint fragrances, along with Menthe Fraiche, this is as close as it gets. Thumbs up. Original Review/First Impressions are Below: Initial impression is very good. This is a light but present composition whose main notes consist of mint, geranium, and bergamot. The mint is of the unsweetened herbal spearmint variety. It is given an icy chill by the supporting geranium note, which is cold, mildly bitter, and slightly floral...more floral than spicy, as some varieties of geranium are. The bergamot lends a nice citrus kick but doesn't upset the balance, as it remains off to the side to some degree, providing the mint with a bit of an edge. This fragrance is the middle ground where Menthe Fraiche and Geranium Pour Monsieur meet. It is not as sweet as Menthe Fraiche, as it has the bitter dimension of geranium and the sharp edge of bergamot, yet it is not as cold and bracing as Geranium Pour Monsieur and its aggressive citronella opening. Still, it is a cold, semi-bitter, semi-sweet, citrus-tinged herbal spearmint with a very diffusive, ethereal quality. It creates a nice scent cloud and projects well, albeit lightly. At times the mint is given to a wonderful watery quality which wafts softly as a liquid breeze before retreating and disappearing. The base is nice, a soft, floral earthiness resulting from a gentle white musk, vetiver, and traces of the geranium. You can go heavier with this, 5 or 6 or more sprays, as it's light and lacking in any particularly sharp or aggressive qualities. If you are a mint fan, this is an absolute must-try, as I find it exceptionally good, though the casual seeker of a mint fragrance might be happier with Menthe Fraiche. This one is more nuanced, more delicate and balanced, but also somewhat shy, lighter, and perhaps requiring a greater appreciation for mint. Initial rating after one day of wearing it: 9/10 UPDATE: Wow. After owning this for a couple of months it has become my favorite mint fragrance by far. It's really a beautiful use of the theme, and so vibrant and bright and uplifting. One of my favorite things about using Virgin Mint is not only how it smells when I'm wearing it, but also the beautiful smell it leaves behind, inside of my house. As I mentioned above, there's a great mix here of natural green spearmint, bright, brisk citrus notes, and a pleasant, subtle, watery-marine breeze. It make for a truly impressive first couple of hours. Though it wears closely after the second or third hour, I don't mind. It would be hard to imagine a scent of such crisp, lively, natural notes lasting much longer than that, and to do so, synthetic fixatives would need to be introduced, which are all but absent here. Those would surely give the fragrance a feeling that it doesn't need. I'll take 3 near perfect hours over 8 imperfect hours in the case of Virgin Mint.

The perfect mint fragrance! One of the best fresh scents I've came across in recent years. It's absolutely fresh & green. Uplifting, cheerful, & happy. I love it! And despite being a freshie with a very good performance, it is not sharp or overwhelming as one might think. It's invigorating & bright mint-&-citrus first, supported by a very cozy green musky accord. The mint here is more not very spicy & sharp, but rather green & with a lively spiciness, like a spearmint chewing gum. As it dries down, it becomes a musky minty green scent, with the same fresh & happy vibe. As I've said, beautiful scent with good performance. However, that price. It's expensive, like the rest of the private line of Carolina Herrera. Which begs the question, if they were always able of such creations, scent- & performance-wise, why were they holding back? If you want something affordable with a similar vibe, try Hugo Just Different. Fresh, invigorating mint with a strong woody musky background of cashmeran (cashmere). Not the same smell but from the same family. Nonetheless Virgin Mint gets a "Love". Hoping to find it discounted.

It's not every day that you're able to enjoy a truly unique DNA from an established designer brand (albeit from their niche line). Enter Virgin Mint: a sparkly, refreshing take on a minty musk fragrance. Where this one truly shines is in the mint note (duh!). This mint is NOT toothpasty in the slightest. Unlike other mint fragrances (like Kryptomint, for example), this mint is GREEN. It smells like you took mint leaves and rubbed them between your fingertips. Underneath that green mint note is a bed of fresh citrus and musk - overall the composition gives you the smell of an alcoholic beverage, minus the alcohol. Think citrus soda with mint leaves as a garnish. Longevity is fine for the type of fragrance that it is. The mint note tends to stick around while wearing this one, and the sillage is adequate too. One thing to note about this one is the quality of the presentation. Absolutely stunning bottle, it might be my favorite bottle ever. The cap is weighty, the green colour is pleasant to look at, and overall it just looks and feels high-quality. Definitely check this one out! Very unisex.

This has no geranium flower, it's all about the stems and leaves. Juicy, fresh, herbaceous goodness with incredibly beautiful green freshly cut mint accord. Out of entire CH collection this is most mesmerizing and is FB worthy for any mint fan. If you love Guerlain's herba fresca, Heeley's menthe fraiche, Kilian's love the way you taste, MFK's Aqua celestia /(forte) Virgin mint is a must'have for your collection. It is a very sophisticated take on mint. HAven't smelled anything this gorgeous before in minty realms. Very superior and cold scent with prominent vetiver backbone. It makes me want to stand taller when I wear it. Seriously gorgeous stuff. Gender: 100% unisex Longevity: 8+h (superb for an edt) Projection: solid arm's length and then some update: now 4 years later on my 2nd bottle, this is the best mint there is.

This beauty is the one that stole my heart! . Geranium smell in perfumery is not because of its red, pink, or white flowers. If you crush a geranium leaf between your fingers, you’ll smell citrus and fruity accents with a hint of spice and a rose smell of course! Geranium used in many fragrances as the traditionally masculine fougere and chypre accords but it has herbaceous green scent & sweet minty-rose undertone which can make a strong fresh aromatic accord too. That’s why it‘s the main player in Virgin Mint. Virgin Mint is so fresh, cool & refreshment. Like the feeling of human presence a breath coming from behind mint gum. Icy mint, wrapped in a blend of lemony grass & vetiver with white musk in base. It’s too breezy & joyful scent. Moderate long lasting & sillage. I love it for summer days.

As rare as hen's teeth in the USA, so be forewarned. One of the "dumb reach" fragrances in my collection. A very invigorating blend of mint and citrus that is under-girded with a clean white musk. Lovely smell that adds a smile/sparkle to your day. Hard to over spray this one. One detracting factor is the longevity, but that commonly plagues this genre of scents, so not surprised. Of note, the bottle is heavy and looks beautiful! The sprayer on these bottles are some of the best in the business. Fantastic presentation overall. Hands down, one of my favorite freshies! Worth seeking out if the listed notes tickle your fancy, as it's hard to hate. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5.

Far too often modern perfumery compensates intensity for quality or uses a quality star note and skimp out on the other materials used. Not in the case of this. This screams quality thru and thru. This is not only the best mint fragrance I've smelled, but also one of the best fragrances I've smelled. Period. Everything is blended so beautifully and perfectly and altho it doesn't scream, it projects nicely and last all day. In fact, I woke up to it on my shirt and it inspired me to write my thoughts down about it. HYPER refreshing. Citrusy, minty, vetiver-y, musky... everything on the tin comes out to play. Excellently done and well worth the price, imo.

To me very nice realistic mint scent with some sweetness, citrus and clean musk, refreshing and uplifting with near to skin soft aura, pricy for this kind of scents but to me if it was long lasting and the projection above moderate will worth every penny. Evokes Positivity feelings Edit: Staying power is very good as fresh but the projection is near to you, quality and fresh citrusy minty green uplifting, sometimes it feels like it’s drinkable, nice sweet mint, a close encounter scent that project nicely and softly with heat.

Beautiful smelling fragrance, definitely unisex. Performance isn't the best but given that it's mint and citrus forward you'd expect that really. I did think I wouldn't get a full bottle due to the price to performance ratio as it's not cheap, but after using this from a decant a few times I just love the scent too much to pass it up. It does last a bit longer on clothes to be fair. Bought a full bottle this week and have no regrets.

Uber-bright citrus mint. Surprisingly smooth, with the spearmint being less sharp than most other mints and the limey bergamot plus sweet mandarin being softened by a rooty vetiver plus faint floral geranium. Very fresh, green, herbal with an almost watery sort of quality. Dries down to a minty musk skin scent. Moderately strong initial projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 6-8hr.

A dreamy sparkling mint aperitif. Too light and airy for its own good . I get the sprite reference , it’s more like a sprite champagne . Not for everyone , as it may be too light and airy for many . I ended up spraying 15 sprays on myself and barely got through a good hour . Nevertheless it’s a good frag. , defo has longevity issues .

The ultimate desert islañd mix 🌴🦜

Very fresh, natural mint complimented by an effervescent accord highlighting the green and camphorous aspects of geranium. The fragrance is very well crafted and strongly reminiscent of F. Malle's Geranium Pour Monsieur ( "GPM"). The two scents are not clones, however, as the floral aspect of the geranium is stronger in GPM whereas this fragrance has less flower and more green notes. The base of Virgin Mint is a nice enough white, non-animalic musk. Each of these aspects of Virgin Mint are excellent. Ultimately, however, my appreciation of this fragrance is diminished by the discordant citrus opening. The bergamot is only OK and the orange is overly strong and causes the first few minutes of the scent to smell like orange-mint Tic-Tacs. Fortunately, the citrus notes vanish within 20 minutes of the first spray and they never come back. So if you can get past the opening, you're in for one of the best mint scents available today. In keeping with the luxury positioning of this CH line, the presentation is top flight with a very nice fluted glass bottle and logo cap in black. Even the box is nice. The atomizer is very good, but the mist it delivers is very fine, so be careful to spray close to your target or much of the juice will disperse before it hits you, taking much projection and longevity with it. If you get the full benefit of each spray, you'll find that the longevity is very significant for this type of scent and the projection is significant. This is a very fine, unisex summer daytime fragrance that sparkles in high heat conditions. Personally, I prefer GPM, because the opening of that scent works better for me. But GPM is much more costly than Virgin Mint. Guerlain's Eau de Guerlain and Acqua Allegoria Herba Fresca are both also nice mint fragrances, but I believe Virgin Mint is a better choice than these two scents in situations like outdoor or crowded events where its superior longevity and projection are desirable. Virgin Mint is well worth the prices asked for it (shop around, unfortunately it is not always easy to find discounted). This fragrance is worth blind buying for summertime use by lovers of bright, uplifting mint-centric fragrances.

I have to say that I really donk like perfumes with mint notes as principal notes, the reason, they fade away so fast. Sometimes mint has also a bitter nuance I dont like. The thing here is that sis very well constructed and for being a perfume with mint it last longer than any other I have tried before, If doesnt ́fade away instantly. It is something I appreciate a lot. I love perfumes that smell as natural as posible and last all day.

During my college years (back in 2011) while taking an exam a girl sprayed herself with some strong mint perfume with some florals on it. Because it was a test, it was impossible for me to ask who was wearing it and also I could not identify exactly where it came from. When I saw this perfume advertised I thought that this could be very close to the smell that I am still looking for to this day. I tried a 10ml decant and to my surprise I was not impressed, I guess my expectations were too high. I tried it for some time and noticed that the perfume has little longevity, depth and more than anything its own personality. I see that this fragrance has a lot of love here at Fragrantica, sadly it was not my case. I will continue in search of that smell (I would dare to say that the best smell) that I smelled in a woman.

Smells like a less interesting Herba Fresca from Guerlain. I do not see the point of this fragrance.

I don't want to be negative... Then again I only say that to preface this negative review as if it would dampen my bad opinion of this fragrance. This smells.. cheap. Like drugstore cologne that's years old and been sitting on the shelf collecting dust. It doesn't last at all, I couldn't smell anything after 30 mins to an hour tops. It doesn't smell feminine at all to me, not unisex either. It smells completely like an old school man's cologne to my nose. I got it from a reputable seller, so my confusion when I smelled it was real, and real disappointing. I really wanted to love this. The bottle is incredible and heavy. It's got a magnetic cap and the mist spray is immaculate. I just couldn't get to a point where I understood the fragrance, so I let this one go.

This wasn't on the hype territory for a reason: I can say without any problem that definitely It ISN'T a mint forward fragrance, regardless of the name, it has mint but not as dominant like youll find in You Or Someone Like You, or Torino 21. The same could be said about fragrances like all the JPG line that use mint on their creations without making it the star of the show. This one has a very nice composition of ingredients suitable for people who dont like to wear invasive fragrances. The mint lasts 10 to 15 minutes, then you'll be left with a pleasant light musky fragrance with a hint of sweetness from the citruces, a bit rosy floral from the geranium A skin scent overall, I bought mine directly from the boutique, the bottle design and the sprayer are top notch although, I'm not purchasing this again but is worth using it to sleep or in the mornings to startup my day until I run out of juice. As it doesn't last more than 3 hours, I can always reapply or use something else on top of whatever it remains on my skin. Overall, this acts like an EAU de Cologne, and if it was classified like that, the performance could be totally understandable. Get a decant if you can.

Wish Fragrantica would update the notes correctly. This is a gorgeous spearmint and bright citrusy orange opening. Specifically spearmint, and that takes this down a sweeter path of mint, as opposed to a fresh mint. And the mint is listed here as a base note, but actually needs to be swapped with the vetiver. I love that CH chose to stray from the fresher side of mints, which is exactly what Herba Fresca gives us from Guerlain. Purposely unique take on this genre. My bottle has really opened up from the first couple of uses, where all I was getting was that juicy orange/bergamot. Now a full year later and the spearmint is front and center, as invigorating and lively as you might imagine. Definitely lacks in longevity, and not surprisingly so given the note breakdown. But still 10/10 concerning the fragrance itself.
