Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis

I recently acquired a bottle of this and, though I really should wait longer in hopes of writing a more lucid review, I’m going to try now anyway. I tend to think that the practice of multiple reviews of a fragrance is a good thing, since so much (the juice, the seasons, one’s nose) changes over time. I suspect that this fragrance is ‘bending’ my nose and that it has not finished doing so yet, so these impressions are going to be a bit of a journey. Firstly, I’d like to say that I agree with a lot of what’s written below, which is interesting given what a mix of varied impressions is found there. Secondly, I’ll admit to being a longtime fan of the house of Caron, mostly via its three landmark masculines, Pour un Homme de Caron (my favourite fragrance), Le Troisième Homme and Yatagan. I blind bought Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis, a rare move for me, knowing that as a fan of older compositions I was investing in something that many had identified has having aspects of newer, ‘generic’ fragrances (the dreaded words ‘shower gel’ were even thrown around in one review.) What was I getting myself into? Other reviews were more promising, referencing a big dose of rooty vetiver and an unconventional hazelnut accord. So which was it? Turns out, it’s a little of both, and I think it works surprisingly well... First, the strange part. AMCJS starts off with a note progression torn straight from the ‘blue fragrance’ playbook, specifically Bleu de Chanel (not 'aquatic', as people often misunderstand, but fruity, bright/warm and clean, per Bleu's grapefruit-meets-incense blend). No, really... Looking closely at the published pyramids of BDC and AMCJS, you can see how the Bleu formula is echoed in the Caron’s structuring of head-heart transition: both begin with a strident grapefruit that, married to ginger and energized by Dihydromyrcenol, are biting in an undefinable citric, fruity way (someone mentioned green apple?) that is also reminiscent of detergent freshness. This resemblance hit me right away and I was puzzled until I realized it more closely resembles Pour un Homme de Caron Sport, a recent (and, IMO, very respectable) flanker of Caron's venerable bestseller, created by bright young house nose William Fraysse before Caron was sold and Jean Jacques took the reins... PUH Sport’s opening has some added bells and whistles (light green verbena and an unlisted mint note) but centres on grapefruit, lavender and ginger, the three adding up to the same ‘blue ginger accord’ featured in Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis. But as AMCJS progresses, other things happen: that sharp, acidic citrus-ginger-detergent/lavender accord shifts into an improbable but smooth ginger-vetiver-hazelnut trio. The hazelnut note -- a little creamy, a little toasted -- was much more evident in the (considerable) wafting sillage than on my skin, noticeably smoky with an intensive Nutella-like sweetness. My wife noticed this right away as she entered the room, saying it reminded her of Encre Noire... I would not have made the connection but now realize that it would be the Haitian vetiver she was picking up on (she is not obsessed with note analysis like me but has a great nose.) So now the analytical part of my olfactory brain was ticking over -- how did it make sense to front-load a smoky-rooty vetiver/semi-gourmand hazelnut with a high-key ‘blue’ assault? What was the logic of the pyramid? Before we get into that, let's first look more closely at AMCJS’s Nutella-like vetiver-hazelnut -tonka blend, the hazelnut being a synthetic effect reminiscent of processed food flavourings (you might recognize it from offerings like Hermès' Vetiver-Tonka or the chocolate-coffee centred Valentino Uomo). Here, the effect is not so much 'gourmand' as synaesthetic; it serves to multi-dimensionalize the fragrance wearing experience by getting to the nose through the tastebuds rather than the other way around. Somehow this also conjures the tactile (warmth) and the visual (an amber colour perfectly matching the juice in the bottle.) The experience is a little like that of smelling woodsmoke while watching an HD video of a Christmas Yule log burning. This praline accord also smells slightly plasticky although this may not entirely be the result of synthetics (if styrax is indeed in AMCJS as I suspect it is, it could explain that kind of character as styrax can smell plasticky...) By now it should be clear that Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis is not a 'blue' fragrance for all kinds of reasons; it has its own character, but it is brighter, sleeker and bolder than most Carons in a way that feels distinctly 'new.' Like many contemporary fragrances, its composition is as much built around synthetic concepts as it is natural ones; the good news is that high-quality naturals (notably the advertised overdose of vetiver, but perhaps also a tobacco absolute referenced in the brand's notes) are plentiful enough to satisfyingly plush out the varied and textures tones of what over multiple wearings becomes a very more-ish note progression. So what does it all add up to and, more importantly, does my nose like it? My nose seems indeed to like it; it keeps sending very insistent messages to my brain to put it on in the morning, but my brain is not easily convinced. My wife definitely liked it immediately (she has very good taste, so this is a check in the right column), and, as is her manner, told me so with persuasive decisiveness. I’m going on faith until my sensibility comes around. Here’s one way of looking at it: the ‘fresh fragrance’ meets ‘brown sweet-woody’ fragrance paradox has been explored before by some notable exponents. Versace’s The Dreamer, for instance, basically offered us a combination of laundry-product lavender, a freshly opened cigarette packet and a gulp of Dr. Pepper (if you blurred the latter two you could almost imagine punchbowl pipe tobacco). Before that, Gaultier’s Le Male caught the world's attention with sweetened purple-green lavender cushioned by toothache-y vanilla and powdery coumarin... And who was the grandfather of them both? Why Pour un Homme de Caron of course, with its still-polarizing blend (or clash) of vividly naturalistic herbal lavender and sweet vanilla supported by tonka bean, amber and musk. Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis follows this kind of logic with its contrary motives of blue/brown, zingy/toasty, clean/comforting, etc. These contrasts are reconciled by a subtle, pleasing creaminess in the mid that is a long-lasting highlight of the wearing. This combination undergoes some interesting transitions over the span of a wearing. The first time I wore Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis, I oversprayed (easy to do as the flaçon’s sprayer is fantastic) and the experience was dominated by the Bergamal-meets-DHM-meets-Ambroxan punch of the blue ginger opening. The hazel/vetiver combination came on like gangbusters, but the dissonance was a bit too intense for comfort. A judiciously balanced wearing the next day saw the opening accord step back more readily, with the vetiver, hazel and tobacco aspects playing out with appreciable complexity. The period of transformation and strong projection lasts a good 3-4 hours, much of it to me very noticeable and pleasurably salutary once the fragrance begins warming to the skin. This early to mid phase is delicious...And does draw compliments! At times the hazel threatens to become too sweet or just too literal, but the well-blended vetiver keeps things in context as part of a greater abstraction; tobacco is incorporated as a tonal inflection within the hazy richness of a drydown that is comfortable, easygoing and appealing. The skin scent lasted a very long time on me, fading out at the ten-hour mark as a soft blend of blue ginger and nutty-amber ganache, with just a bit of a fresh, woody tingle if you inhale deeply; in general I’d say the composition has good to very good performance and is perfect for fall weather. It’s a fragrance I can see aficionados questioning, but everyday wearers bonding with, as I myself, being a little of both, find as I both arch a skeptical eyebrow and apply a liberal spritz to the chest. As a synthesis of the reviews below would suggest, Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis is both patterned after current trends and nonetheless something else, being very well executed overall. I’d agree with the candid and knowledgeable Houdini4 in this respect... It kind of fascinates me that Jean Jacques has taken a very popular, recognizable note structure and added something conspicuously different to produce a dissonant yet legible (and quite addictive) perfume. I am waiting for the turning seasons, maceration, and my own as-yet-developing nose to tell me more, but for now I’d say I am really looking forward to getting better acquainted with the ‘Je Suis' ('I am’) in Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis. P.S. As an update after a week now, I'll say that the 'fresh' opening seems to have settled down a little and the hazelnut steps in a little sooner, a good thing from my perspective. I am enjoying this more with each wear, but still advise going easy on the sprayer.

Caron have managed to make an iconic formula here but one which is mildly derivative of lots of common tropes and aroma chemicals etc... but combined in such a way as to make something that feels new to me. That's all I can ask of a perfume, we all know the common building blocks and 'tricks' or commonality of technique used by perfumers and I don't expect a completely original, ground breaking work of genius everytime I sniff out a new perfume, but just try and that effort will be reflected in the end result and that's what we have here. So vetiver being the prominent listed note is misleading for me, because it's not the smoky, earthy, dry notes I get from it. (wait for the contradiction in 5,4,3...) Despite having a creamy, woody, earthy, slightly nutty drydown (all descriptors I would also use for a complex vetiver oil) I DON'T think that Aimez moi comme je suis is in anyway a typical vetiver, nor do I smell vetiver in it really. Apparently the formula contains 10% vetiver oil which despite being quite potent can blend down into a composition or be easily subdued depending what else you put in. I think the way it manifests in this perfume is intriguing, the earthy notes are even slightly more reminiscent of patchouli than vetiver. So the way this opens is very...(I hate this word but it's appropriate) generic. What I mean is that I get that herbal, faux bergamot (bergamal, DHM), lavender, clary sage it's classically soapy but then there's this smoky element. Hold on Houdini!!! Woah woah woah, YOU SAID and I quote... "...This is not the smoky, earthy dry notes..." so what do you mean??? Well if you'd let me finish...(god I need to see a shrink! :) I was about to say that this has the lingering smokey after touch of cigarette smoke on clothing, not always a nice thing but in this context it puts the normality (if very well constructed) main body, of clean, men's shower gels and soap and such, into a whole new context. So you smell the opening and go...Caron? what's happening here this is a bit... Lynx/Axe deodorant like...then as it settles it starts to chime with lots of other notes and before you know it this thing is charming you. The name is also imploring you to love it, perhaps they know that this is the mental process people go through with it? Underwhelmed, mildly charmed, to fallen for...A true grower not a shower. The drydown really is beautiful, it has a certain modernity too with that kind of creamy, ambrox/woods and that nutty, depth. I think it's really, really accomplished, and harder than you think to create something more than the sum of it's parts & which doesn't smell old hat. I'd compare it to GIT or Cool water but also Terre d'Hermes or Fierce or CKOne, just in terms of it's place in the pantheon of great men's perfume formulas comprised primarily of very commonly used materials but brought together harmoniously.

Smooth combination of hazelnut, ginger and vetiver built on a semi-sweet tonka foundation. It is just so civilized and refined. Another fine piece of work from an underappreciated house. It is nice to see the now financially stabilized Caron on the way back from recent troubles. With a name like Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis, "Love Me As I Am," Caron seems to be admitting that this scent is not a blockbuster or, in fact, without its flaws. Fortunately, these flaws are minimal and the scent does indeed prove loveable, if perhaps not instantly compelling. The opening has a just slightly obligatory feeling citrus. I think this note is more yuzu than grapefruit, but whatever it is, it has considerable similarity to the top note in Caron's Yuzu Man (an underappreciated warm weather gem, btw). The citrus fades fast leaving behind a slightly spicy, fresh ginger that merges into the scent's dominant hazelnut note as the heart of the fragrance shows itself. Eventually, the nutty notes are joined by a slightly rooty vetiver and for the next couple of hours, the vetiver and hazelnut play off each other in a most wonderful way that is at once creamy and also bright. As such, this is a tremendous fall scent well suited for crisp days. It is here that I began to love this fragrance. At the end of the drydown, there is a slight sweetness from some tonka accented with an unburnt pipe tobacco note. Very nice. Longevity is 6-8 hours on my skin. Projection is never more than moderate. The presentation is nice in keeping with the house's recent art deco style. Atomizers are good. I think this scent is a unique take on vetiver and like how it handles the note. I am happy to have this scent in my collection. Things are looking up at Caron.

Complex fragrance, a lot going on here. Initially, there is a metallic accord that reminds me a little of Hermes H24’s opening. Given the notes, it’s not clear where this comes from, but there is some airy, sharp accord straightaway. This gives a ‘modern’, even unisex impression that lasts for the duration. This mixes in with a soft, smooth blend of what almost smells like a designer mall fragrance- strange, but I can’t get the comparison out of my mind- but doesn’t abandon the wearer at the Macys counter. Merely a hat-tip to mass-appealing territory without becoming ‘just one of the boys.’ The tobacco gives a subtle hay-like impression to add to the complexity, another layer in this fascinating scent. The hazelnut flits in and out, beautifully woven into the whole. It’s never centered, but it’s definitely perceptible. I love how it’s used here, not in a gourmand way- squirrels won’t find you ‘edible’ wearing this one- but does give that je ne sais quoi to Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis that makes me say oui, si vous plait! The bottle is stunning- thick glass with a masculine heft. The gunmetal grey plate running down the center with matching cap adds a classy upgrade to the Caron corporate bottle. It loses a point in my book for performance - it’s just a bit shy. I wish it were just a little more persistent, not so quick to retreat to a skin scent, but modern perfumery does seem to be trending this way. Bravo to Caron for giving us something modern and appealing without losing its soul. If this is the new direction for the house, we can expect good things.

Caron has served up an ace here with Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis. I wanted to dislike this fragrance and be dismissive of it as another attempt at using hazelnut notes in a fragrance like it was nothing new under the sun. Boy, was I wrong. This is France in autumn captured in a bottle. I mean this with the utmost sincerity. But where in France? Not Paris. Not some southern city in Provence. This feels just like Picardie or the north of France in the splendor of autumn. There is a hay-like accord in this scent that takes us away from any big city. This could take us towards a farm town near a festival where hazelnuts are being roasted and this sweet aura of pipe tobacco lingers with other sweets cooking in the open air. The tonka and ginger hold this composition together and let's talk about that ginger note. I must say this has to be one of the freshest ginger notes I have smelt in a very long time. This fragrance is perfect for autumn and winter day or night. Aimez-Moi is office safe but should be appreciated in a cool autumn air. This scent dresses up or down but screams to be under a sweater or scarf. Caron has maintained its ascension towards quality and instantly classic fragrances with another flawless offering with Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis. Give Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis a few sprays when your senses need to take a trip to another place and time, where fall skies are cold and gray but the sights and people you encounter are warm and cozy like that corner seat at the bar, where the street light gives everything that passes outside an amber glow.

I'm still trying to track down a sample of this available in Canada (not so easy), but I wanted to quickly comment on concerns some folks are raising with regard to Caron releasing a fragrance that to them smells, while not generic, perhaps overly familiar, contemporary or market-ready in terms of notes or profile. I would like to humbly put forward the argument that while much-loved pillars like Pour Un Homme, Yatagan and Le Troisième Homme are now considered unique masterpieces, all of them emerged during periods when their respective types of compositions were already popular. Pour un Homme has tremendous 'character', but appeared in a market already filled with all manner of refreshing lavender 'toilette-waters'; while adding vanilla was an important twist, it was not innovative (per the much earlier Jicky, 1889). Yatagan ('78) emerged in a market already populated by other herbal concoctions such as Aramis Devin ('77) and at the same time as Polo (78). The Third Man is a wonderfully idiosyncratic fougère, but it should be said that citric-floral ferns were nothing new at that point. Think also of the way that Guerlain famously copied and tweaked the concept of other perfumes to produce what are now considered timeless classics (notably their Vetiver, modelled on Carven's already-popular product.) My point is, let's take Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis' name seriously and give it a chance on its own merits. That's certainly what I plan to do if I can ever get my hands on 2ml of the stuff!

WOAH!! Aimez Moi smells AMAZING and like $$! Performance is pretty decent giving me around 7 hours of moderate to soft projection and I'm really impressed! It starts off somewhat ambery/nutty with an underlying freshness that's somewhat hard to describe, but Id say that the brightness of the Citrus/Grapefruit and Ginger notes play a pretty big role from the opening, but instead of "Competing" with the ambery touches from the Hazelnut/Tonka Bean, it compliments those notes quite BEAUTIFULLY and dare I say it smells quite Unique! As ya get into the mid/and dry-down the Vetiver starts to shine and MAN! Aimez Moi teally smells FAN-FREAKIN'-TASTIC! Again, as far as performance goes this beats both Caron Pour Un Homme as well as my favorite from this house Yatagan, although after some Maturation Yatagan is Comparable as far as longevity goes. Unisex leaning Masculine, and folks, if you're looking for something Modern, Mature and "Unique", but that's also beautiful which can even serve as a Signature Scent, then you've gotta try Caron's-Aimez Moi Comme je Suis! This fragrance really does smell "Expensive" and although its unique smelling, its very "Wearable" being that its a Niche fragrance. A 9 outta 10 EASY! Thanks to whomever took the time.. CHEERS!

I imagine myself a dandy when wearing this. Imagine a gentlemen with suspended wool trousers and a button up collard shirt on. The shirt is covered by a nice wool vest and the sleeves are rolled halfway up his arms. But this guy is only a gentleman part time. His tribal, animal spirit, celestial and dire quote tattoos peak out on his forearms and chest. His outfit says class but his socks, with all of the abstract colors and designs, says worldly. He fits in every situation, while drastically standing out. He is like everyone and no one at the same time. He is 1 of 1. Oh and he can serve you the best old fashioned and mixed cocktail, you've ever had. Translation: This scent is very demanding from the vetiver and ginger. Two notes that you immediately recognize as soon as you smell them. They are very hard to disguise when paired with other notes. The nutmeg, tonka bean and tobacco add the warmth and familiarity to the fragrance that continued to play a supporting role to the other notes. I see this as a worthy alternative to my love for barbershop fragrances as it gives the same masculine energy with a twist.

I'm in love! There is something undeniably magnetic about Caron’s Aimez-Moi Comme Je Suis. It doesn't shout; instead, it creates this soft cloud around you that feels incredibly comforting throughout the day. Yes, it's a spin on a fougère, but it is decidedly sweet and hazelnutty, but it never feels cloying or foody. Most importantly, there's nothing blue about this apart from the zing of ginger that mellows very quickly. As it settles, the tobacco note really shines, lingering all day and blending perfectly with the vetiver to create a distinct, dry grassy feel. Performance-wise, this is deceptive. It feels airy, but the longevity is massive—especially on clothing. It just hangs around forever on fabric, leaving a warm, sophisticated trail that greets you even the next day.

"Love me the way I am": VERY hazelnut forward, it's absolutely elegant and completely modern in its sweetness. To my nose, the top notes die under the strong hazelnut, which then weaves in beautifully with Tonka and tobacco for the rest of its rather long life. I imagine it'd be unbearably sweet without the grapefruit and ginger, though. Vetiver shines through later and creates this seriously addictive and charming drydown. It smells chic and very unique in its kind. Thinking of sweet, it's not your run-of-the-mill,1mil clubbing kind; this has to be a dressed-up kind of scent for fall/winter evenings as an outstanding alternative to the routine oudy spicy stuff. But unless you have that kind of use frequently, you're probably not going to reach out for it much.

What a stunner! Soft with a light-but-sparkling freshness at first spray - enveloped with the warmth of wood and sweetness of hazelnut and vanilla. This is easily one of the best scents I’ve tried in 2022. It is not a loud fragrance - it’s not going to get you noticed - but in the event someone smells it, I can assure you they will find it very pleasant and attractive. I think this is for the person who doesn’t really want to be noticed, but has the confidence and security that they smell amazing - yet doesn’t require the reassurance. The vetiver is not dirty - not in your face. Like I said, the whole composition is pretty soft in general. Almost a midnight in Paris type scent - with more masculine qualities. Go out of your way to find it. 8/10

Beautiful woody nutty scent with moderate silage and longevity. I wish it had a better longevity. The way that Vetiver is used in this is very similar to Lalique Encre Noire; it's dark, earthy, and polished. On my skin it smells very similar to EN as I cannot detect any tobacco. On clothing, however, the tobacco is present from beginning to the end. Also it is more aromatic and the presence of tonka is bolder. I was about to sell my bottle since I didn't see a need for a weaker version of EN. After accidentally spraying it on my shirt, I changed my mind and I will keep it. Never experienced a fragrance like this before that is so drastically different on my skin v.s. on my clothing.

I bought a bottle several months ago and I liked it so much, I bought a second bottle just in case... Given my total collection, I'll probably never get through the first bottle, but why risk it? It's a wonderful spicy scent for (more than likely) a mature guy (i.e. over 27.) If you're not getting the longevity you're looking for, try putting on a little more after a few hours. For god's sake, this stuff isn't very expensive for what it is. Just a thought... Rather than going on and on about this delightful creation, I'll just give it an overall 8.75+ /10.

Received Bottle today with blind buy and it's gonna be My rarely Love at first sniff Very nutty Remind me a smell of Nutella with smokey hint of vetiver and dry down into very pleasant vanilla. for me who have Vetiver tonka and wear it's many time. i didn't think this one is similar to Vetiver tonka. because Aimez moi Comme je suis is way to more gourmand and more nutty with vanilla base but Vetiver tonka is more Woody and dry. fully with Iso e Super

It defies belief that some "perfumistas" have turned their nose up at this amazing fragrance. How could anyone not love this from start to end? A crisp opening over a smooth, nutty base. All balanced and accented by the beautiful green vetiver. Excellent for daily wear and any occasion, it leaves a delightful trail. Marries the best of Vetiver Tonka, Mechant Loup, & Grey Vetiver; an absolute gem at any price.

Got it as sample with a French online order. Not knowing the gender of the fragrance I sprayed it on and loved it immediately 😍 Creamy hazelnut is first, some refined woodines on the sweet side next. Not only would I like my man to wear this, I’d gladly wear it myself. A very modern and unusual olfactory that warms up in a good way. I do like you as you are Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis 🌰 🧡

Spectacular fragrance from beginning to end. A true joy to spray on. This is woefully underrated. A beautiful 'dry' sweetness that is hard to describe. Wow. The vetiver, with this nuttiness and a dryness that I can't articulate...is something unique and very special. It is an understated performer, but it fits the profile. So happy to have this in the collection!

Caron you are anything but boring Oh the vetiver and hazelnut partnering here seem never-ending and constructed with perfection!! This is truly a marvelous release and I am not going to sell you any further. Get a sample or stop at a retailer and see if it works for you. I hope you find it as majestic as I do. AIMEZ MOI COMME JE SUIS translates to LOVE ME AS I AM

For people that downvoted that this doesn’t smell like the tragedy of lord George is crazy. Or you never smelled it. I have put this and lord George on side by side and could not tell a difference. When I first sprayed this i thought I 100% smelled this exact scent before and found out it was lord George. Buy this for a fraction of the price of TOLG.

Stays fairly true to its notes. Hazelnuts, grapefruit, ginger and vetiver. A very pleasant smell, with a light touch of sweetness but still far away from being a gourmand. Fun, yet elegant. Not a beastmode fragrance but performance is decent with longevity being better than projection. Hazelnut lovers should definitely try it.

This was driving me nuts because I smelled this before, It took me a few sprays until I realized this smells exactly like the tradegy of lord George by penhaligons. Almost identical. I sprayed each fragrance on each hand and could not tell the difference!

What a great creamy/unique/nutty perfume! A masterpiece by Caron. Enjoy it! To me; Scent & Quality: 10/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 6.5/10 Creativity & Uniqueness: 9/10 Affordability: 10/10 ----------- Overall: 8.5/10

In my opinion this is not a winter fragrance cause its an EDT and cant overpower the cold weather. Used in a warmer environment (spring/autumn) is when it shines...really lovely stuff for $50.

Effortless chic, modern, crowd pleaser but original and not synthetic at all. Maybe not as kaleidoscopicpic as other Caron’s but a total success of the new “Rostchild era“.

Am I bonkers, or is ANYONE.ELSE getting Lolita Lempicka's- Green Lover in the far dry-down? Im shocked! Lempicka projects better tho, but noth have good longevity tbh.

Beautiful! This scent has the nuts, vetyver, and ginger..........a fantastic scent. Lasts long and leans formal. All year round.

I love it. Nutty masculine scent with woody spicy base. Very nice and unique scent for cooler weather and evenings out.

Smells like in-depth booze, very fine and smooth with real life acidic boozey tinge. Bright sweet fruity acidic tinge.

Finally a great fragrance for men that is not boring. Good job Caron!

This leans more serious, warm, cozy. There is some sophistication to this. I can see worn by someone in their 40s or older. If you're younger you probably won't see the appeal. If you're new to Caron fragrances I'd tell myself to try the 2022 releases first such as Le Soir and Le Matin. Longevity and projection are nothing to write home about 8 to 10 sprays got me 5-6 hours give or take, though it has stuck to clothes for over 24 hours. This is not a room filler with that many sprays either. The opening This starts with the woodiness of Xerjoff 40 knots, it hits you similar to walking into a Home Depot (hardware store) where this dry woodiness hits you. Now mix that with a sharp ginger and grapefruit cutting through. As the scent develops a bit in the opening this roasted hazelnut, tobacco and tonka bean combine with the top notes and give it this almost boozy caramel like scent. 15 or so minutes in - As this sits longer on your skin the ginger and grapefruit die down. It becomes more wearable, it almost goes into this dated late 70s scent profile, think Azzaro Pour Homme (1978) or so territory, however, there's something interesting going on saving this from being scrubbed off. The boozy caramel becomes more noticeable, imagine a slightly less sweet D&G - The One with the comparison another reviewer said about opening up a dusty wooden piece of furniture from another century. It's such an odd mixture on paper but it works when it comes together. By the dry down (2 hours later) - The sweet caramel booziness has almost completely disappeared. besides that faint sweetness we've got the smell of hay, I'll credit the vetiver giving it this slight earthiness and it's mixed with the smell of a home depot. some reassurances the grapefruit isn't obvious, this is far from say Paco Rabanne - Invictus EDT (2013) the tobacco isn't a smoked type - no one will think you were in a fire or had a cigarette The hazelnut note isn't going in a Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee direction I kind of see the maple syrup reference actually, it takes a vivid imagination. The first few wears of this fragrance. this can be an unsafe blind buy There's too much going on in the opening that make it smell like vomit up close. In the air this is a good fragrance, but up close! Those first 10-15 minutes are unappealing. It has nothing to do with the "boozy" characteristic of this fragrance. As there's tons of classy boozy fragrances that don't smell this odd up close. I'll write a story as my one about a full wear of Le Soir got me a lot of likes. The opening goes away fast but imagine you see someone in a home depot drunk, you smell the lumber inside the store and as you walk closer to him as he's struggling to get in through the security doors. He suddenly throws up so close to you that you smell his stomach contents (alcohol, chocolate and caramel), mixing with the lumber and a faint bit of Azzaro Pour Homme the guy used to cover up the liquor on himself, then the security guard grabs the drunk man and puts him in the back room. Will the police show up? You never know. You're more shocked that somehow the security guard is the only person on the planet to get D&G The One last and project for more than 5 minutes! What's his secret, like the drunk guys fate you never know! You're just there for screws and sand paper. By the dry down it's the scent of home depot lumber is still on your clothes, you're now drinking at home, the hardware store is still opened! Now it's your turn to go there drunk! Come on you forgot the wood glue! That birdhouse needs to get finished! The uber will drop you off before the place closes. Where's your Azzaro! I can see this being worn daily, there's nothing too challenging about it, if you can survive the opening like the original Pour Un Homme by Caron than this is a walk in the park. This could be worn in the office, possibly to a formal event. Though date night or anything else, reach for something else. If it's got to be a Caron, Le soir for date night is your best choice. If you're under 40 get Dolce And Gabbana The One EDP or any of the following. Givenchy Reserve Privee, boisee, Dior homme (2020), Dior homme intense or get that replacement bottle of Terre D'Hermes (EDT), if you've never tried it. that Dirty orange remark everyone online is trained to say doesn't tell the full picture. I could honestly see an EDP or another type of flanker to this, all they need to do is fix the opening. Maybe try a different type of vetiver or tone down the cedar.

Surprised noone has mentioned it but I definitely get a 40 knots vibe off this with that slight baby wipe sort of vibe but I find it a lot more palatable in this because it's very much blended with a nice nuttiness. It's surprisingly fresh off the top but still a little sweet. That freshness does fade quickly and the 40 knots style smell with added nuttiness comes in. After a few hours the vetiver comes in a bit but it's never really too dry or earthy so always stays pretty likeable and pleasant without ever being boring. I don't really think there's much like this out there bar maybe 40 knots, and I never liked that to be honest and this is far more affordable. I will also say I had to talk to customer service because my package got damaged in transit and they were very responsive and friendly. They also include a small sample in the box so you can try before opening the package and ruining that chance to return which is always a nice touch I think. Presentation is great aswell, bottle is really attractive and everything about it feels solid and good quality. Overall seems like a very solid business

I really appreciate what this fragrance is trying to do, in fact, it's quite a bold idea. Greeted by a warm-spicy citrus shower-gel, I didn't think we would be getting along. But then a nutty creaminess arrived, mingling with the sudsy opening creating quite a discordant pairing. Luckily the nutty facets never strike me as gourmand, which is this fragrance's saving grace, because both the nutty and shower-gelly aspects stay present throughout the wear. There's probably a healthy dose of amberwoody materials in here as well, since the drydown has that signature zippy/acidic woodiness. However, it doesn't bother me as much, since it pairs well with the shower-gel citrus, extending its lengthy lifespan even further. A very modern and broad-stroke creation, as recognisable as it is jarring when it develops. Still not sure how much I like it, but the idea is very fun.

Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis یا من رو همان گونه که هستم دوست بدار یا عاشق همینی که هستم باش یاتاقان از کارون رو دوست دارم .گاهی برای ارامش قبل از خواب یک یا دوپاف یاتاقان یا خیلی بیشتر موارد، جیونچی جنتلمن قدیمی رو روی بالشتم می زنم .امتحان کنید عالی است به خصوص و به خصوص جنتلمن. به نظر من کارون با این عطر دوباره به اوج برگشته است .عطری ساده و در عین حال شیک .از طراحی عالی و رنگ شیشه و جعبه تا رایحه آن.ترکیبی خوش بو و ساده از فندق و بخصوص وتیور که من فن جدی وتیور هستم .نه ان قدر گرم و نه ان قدر سرد .کاملا به اندازه .جذاب .نیمه رسمی و حتی رسمی.به نظرم عالی برای محیط کار.شاید به جز ظهر تابستان بشه اون رو در بقیه مواقع سال استفاده کرد.حتی همین الان در یک محیط کار تقریبا معتدل و کمی خنک.ماندگاری و پروجکشن متوسط است. واقعا اسم هوشمندانه ای انتخاب کرده است...... من رو همانگونه هستم دوست بدار

Ginger heavy opening, a little more sporty/bright than I would have imagined. This phase actually lasts a little while (15 minutes, maybe?) As the mid unblurs itself a very nicely done vetiver comes into view but isn’t overly dominant. The hazelnut blends in pretty well. Now, this smells like class. There is a smooth syrupy/glossy sweetness to it. It leans gourmand with maple flavorings but feels like a plastic lacquer. But there is enough darkness to keep it in good mature taste (it is not gross like some of the current Most Wanted or Scandal offerings). A simple fragrance. It comes across as eager to please and not trying to surprise or offend. But what it does, it does very well. 8.6/10

an overall nutty fragrance with a bit of citrus at the top and vetiver in base. A well blended safe and quality scent. longevity is average. Not much character to it though. I tried really hard to hate it because there is not much character to it but I can't :) . I guess if the love is true, you have to accept your love as a whole. and this is not a true love. will not buy a full bottle but will have a decant to sniff regularly. خیلی راحت میشه دوستش داشت. ولی نمیشه عاشقش شد. برای استفاده در هر موقعیتی خوبه ولی برای هیچ‌جا عالی نیست. کیفیت رایحه رو خیلی پسندیدم. حتما برای سمپل کردن توصیه میشه

Can somebody explain why here it is labelled woody? Doesn't make sense to me. The shop assistant who was selling it to me kept insisting this is a masculine gourmand. I am ok with keeping this labelled gourmand, but hello no to "his and hers" bs. This is a vetiver tobacco with tonka and hazelnut soured with grapefruit and spiced with ginger. I love this perfume's nutty-ness. I don't know why I feel like there's a metallic-ness to this scent to me.

I have gotten a sample with my Caron order from their official website. Quite tasty and nutty vetiver. With certain freshness and nobleness. I don’t usually like strictly male perfumes, as they play around the same notes: aquatic, woody, citrusy or fougery. This one is original: slightly woody, slightly sweet and slightly gourmandish. Well balanced and in adherence with Caron style: corpulent and luxury.

Wearing this from decanter. It's a beautiful man perfume. Smells classy. It's a little bit spicy at the beginning smooth, sweet, spicy, not easy to explain, almost like aromatic honey, a bit of a disinfectant smell but not pine, slightly nutty. I'm surprised it's not more popular, I guess there is so many perfume to choose from these days. This is a beautiful, unique, sweet and sour scent.

Really interesting and enjoyable hazelnut note comes through at first, most realistic one I think I've smelled to date. After maybe 15 minutes though this is all but gone and you are left with a very generic almost vodka and soap like base for the rest of the journey (with flecks of sweetness here and there). Definitely not my favorite Caron, but worth a decant.

hazelnutty and woody, they sort of clash and work at the same time at that. definitely not strong enough to overpower the cold nor leave a trail but it definitely smells opulent and date night-y. french excellence as always. damn it's just that hazelnut note that i'm still conflicted about.

The creamiest nutty opening, so very charming and intruiging. Vetiver peeks through after some time, but never overwhelming. The drydown is dominated by the subtle and sweet tonka bean.

Nutty, real nutty. Here in states, we have Nutella. Europeans know about Eurocrem. This smells like the dark side of Eurocrem. Delicious!

Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis smells like opening a musty old antique wooden trunk full of Victorian era clothes, protected by mothballs placed in the trunk in 1912, whose strong camphorous odor has long since dissipated, leaving just an echo of their bygone presence. Almost quasi-medicinal. I wouldn't have expected that with the listed notes and accords, yet there it is. No listed Eucalyptus note nor camphor accord. It's not camphorous, but reminds me of that accord. Interesting how these notes come together in that way. Eddie Bulliqi wrote that there are "tones of anise and suede", and a "mix of liquorice and Nutella", and I can see that. The scent profile is interesting. And it does evoke something vintage, something old. And although I tend to like scent profiles with similar associations, I don't think I like Aimez Moi Comme Je Suis . It doesn't come together right for me. And it smells nothing like the OG Eight & Bob, which is listed in the "reminds me of..." section. And someone below suggested Aimez Moi smells like Penhaligon's The Tragedy of Lord George, which it does NOT, in any way, shape, nor form. I don't have a ready suggestion as to what smells similar. But I've had a similar dissatisfied reaction to scents such as Ganymede, Creed's Royal Mayfair, and Nishane's Sultan Vetiver. All scents that are generally praised. But not to my nose. All are overrated to my subjective nose.

a little strange to be frank. It smells woody, fruity, christmasy and dark at the same time. Completely unisex but I'm not particuarly fond of the spicy, treacley sweetness on my skin. It can turn a little bothersome after a while as the scent is so dense and opaque. There is a strong likeability to the scent and I would even so it tries hard to be likeable in the adorable sillage but up close it's seems to have the adverse effect. It's certainly not what I want to wear even though the actual scent is lovely. Confusing.
