Délire de Roses

I have ordered Caron discovery set mostly because of this perfume, thinking to buy a full bottle. I am a big fan of Litchi, black currant and roses in perfumes. It is lovely scent, light, soft a bit soapy but nothing extraordinary, unfortunately. It is more rosy than litchi ... and reminds me aromatic body lotions or hand cream. You can easily find an alternative for Delire De Roses even in mass market. :(

Fresh, green, watery and slightly spicy rose. It’s quite classic, but also very light, which I like and appreciate. I can there’s also lots of musk in it, so it smells quite cosmetic and comforting. Not bad at all!

A fruity rose but not too sweet. Light and crispy with youthful vibes but classy at the same time. Not as generic as many others of this genre but not ground-breaking either.

Flouncy flouncy rose jelly. Okay, storytime. I'm a sick perfume addict with no notion of spending within my means, looking for ways to justify my decadent ways. So I've lobbed my issues onto my roommate, who listens to my perfume rambles and enables my habits. She's slowly inching her way into Memo and Diptyque through samples that we order together -I'm like an encouraging parent clapping with every step she takes. So a week ago, I shared a sample of délire with my roomie; I'm currently loving santal precieux, so why not explore Caron together? This is a very long intro to my roommate's interpretation of this perfume, which is entirely different from mine. She finds this smells fresh and sweet, like a garden full of dewy roses. I don't at all. This rose is too sweet and pleasant, with no lemony tart pungency and no velvety depth. I'm not getting any raspy fresh geranium—just a gentle rose. Its lack of green notes distances it from the whole living flower. There are no stems, leaves, and thorns; those would be bitter, pointy, and impolite. The fragrance is sheer enough that the sweetness never becomes cloying and has enough acidity to keep some interest. It's like a thin, sweet, light pink, and slightly trembling jelly. This could be an effect of the lychee, which is gentle, floral-smelling, and evokes texture of jelly. Délire is tender but so balanced it reads as elegant and posh. It's a moderate perfume for moderate people -people who like being pretty and keeping away from disturbing smells, thoughts, and fun.

I had no big hopes for this scent. When first applied the fragrance seemed a young fruity rose scent, pretty and likable, similar to many others in the market, but drydown after a few hours revealed a musky velvety deep rose scent that is very impressive.

A fruity rose, that's it. It's pretty, young and pleasant but you're not getting anything groundbreaking. You can definitely find a better rose for much less, as Caron is expensive. There's a note in there that reeeeally makes it smell like hand soap...
