Pour Un Homme de Caron L'Eau

Sparkling lavender, refreshing lime, minty geranium, with a very light vetiver ambergris dry down. Simple, elegant, ephemeral excellence on display here from Caron. Everything smells completely realistic and natural. A subtle but high quality fragrance. This is a true l'Eau flanker- the original toned down, refreshed, with a touch of modernization. Its quite a beautiful thing, but it comes with a bit of a caveat: no amount of extra sprays would turn this into something it is not. It wears like an EDC, transparent, light, and refreshing. Do not buy this one if you are looking for something that screams off the skin. One final thought-If you love Pour un Homme, I think you'd love this one too. If you thought the original a bit too fusty, you just might enjoy this one, as it retains the DNA but succeeds in updating the formula.

A bottle arrived from Paris yesterday. This is exceptionally beautiful but it is not a projection monster by any means. A really sparkling lavendar opening shifts into the more floral aspects of lavender (with the geranium), rather than the more herbal (thyme, woods) in the classic PUH. There is a breath of freshness not found in the original, but well handled, without falling for some of the modern freshie clichés. This sits on a slightly warmer base of amber (Caron's website says ambergris, but probably more likely ambroxan) and tonka notes with some vetiver as well. It has more affinity with PUH than the Sport flanker which used a few strident citrus notes and ginger, and the base feels more modern with the amber notes replacing the vanilla. I just wish they had released this in an edp concentration.

i think people are being very harsh about the longevity and sillage. i would call it 'subtle'. i bought this to be an everyday perfume i could wear to class, and it's perfect. the first hour it smells beautiful with strong lavender balanced by the lime. after that it settles into a skin scent where the lime fades and the vanilla comes through. there is also a fun undercurrent of saltiness from the ambergris. but i'm into my 3rd hour of wearing it now and i still get lovely whiffs of lavender that feels almost like my skin has a nice subtle glow. very nice. i think people get caught up in what they wish this frag was rather than what it is.

As a second review, this still stands head and shoulders above anything the new in-house perfumeur Jean Jacques has done for the brand. Smelled today in spring time this is just a delight - it's so clever, but understated, in one breath it is like the classic PUH, in another it reveals an interesting new facet. The Fraysse family may have not been perfect in terms of looking after Caron, but they understood what Caron was and William was just at the start of turning it around.

A modern classic. Huge 5* Now discontinued, which surely must be a mistake by the usually brilliant brains behind the house of Caron. However, its father survives, i.e. the original 'Caron Pour un Homme'. RIP and may you be an inspiration to others!

Caron Pour Un Homme L’Eau EDT opens with a very soft projection of slightly sweet, citrus, and floral accords. The opening is very faint, fresh, and the notes come up as diluted. The lime and lavender are the opening notes, lightly citrusy, and a faint floral touch. Similarly, the geranium is a soft floral touch. The vanilla adds a soft sweet touch to the opening. As the fragrance commences to dry down, the little lime note dissipates and the ambergris and vetiver develop taking the lead of the fragrance; the ambergris is a projecting accord, musky, earthy, slightly animalic; the vetiver is a soft green touch. The change from a lime opening to an ambergris and vetiver dry-down is noticeable. Once Caron Pour Homme L’Eau has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized a no projection, very soft, musky, vetiver, and floral fragrance with a faint citrus touch. The fragrance feels airy, breezy, cheap, delicate, diluted, disappointing, diurnal, earthy, faint, fresh, grassy, green, light, low-quality, masculine, mature, musky, poorly-blended, short-lived, weak, and pleasant. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020. WOW RATING: 2/10. An unimpressive faint musky, vetiver, and floral fragrance. DISLIKE RATING: 1/10: The fragrance contains vetiver, but it is very soft. UNIQUENESS: 1/10. Common notes, common scent. MASS APPEAL: 5/10. A fresh fragrance ideal for mature wearers. PROJECTION: 0/10. None, a skin scent. SILLAGE: 0/10. None, a skin scent. APPLICATION: 8 or more atomizations to improve performance and longevity. LONGEVITY: 2/10. Very low, not even 2 hours, it projects for less than 1/2 hour, and then it becomes a skin scent. This is the type of fragrance that requires constant reapplication. SEASONS: Spring, and summer. OCCASIONS: Any. VERSATILITY: 5/10. A moderately versatile fresh fragrance for spring and summer. GENDER: Masculine, the vetiver creates a masculine and mature character. AGES: 30 and above. This fragrance has a classy vibe, ideal for mature wearers. RECOMMENDATION: Caron Pour Un Homme L’Eau EDT has a very disappointing performance, the notes come across as diluted and very faint. Not recommended. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but consider its poor performance. SIMILAR: Caron Pour Homme Sport EDT is also a short-lived but pleasant fresh white musk, citrus, lemon verbena, and cedar fragrance. SUMMARY: A no projection, very soft, musky, vetiver, and floral fragrance with a faint citrus touch. The fragrance feels airy, breezy, cheap, delicate, diluted, disappointing, diurnal, earthy, faint, fresh, grassy, green, light, low-quality, masculine, mature, musky, poorly-blended, short-lived, weak, and pleasant.

Very classy warm weather scent. Not your typical freshie as it's not super citrusy or aquatic. Rather this has predominant lime and lavender notes. So you do have a little citrus mixed with florals. The soft slightly sweet transparency of this fragrance is really pleasant. I wouldn't say it's the most casual warm-weather scent but still one that can be worn in casual situations. Something you would wear with a linen short sleeve button-up with shorts and a tote bag. That's the vibe I get from this. 7.5/10

Pour Un Homme De Caron L'Eau, Sport, and Le Matin are 3 lovely fresh variants with small differences in composition. Not powerhouses, but nice refreshments for the really hot days. Simply nice to have.

I really enjoy the lime, lavender and vanilla here. Pour Un Homme is a bit much for me - this flanker is more approachable and easier to wear out.

Nice, refreshing Lavender/Lime/Vanilla here, perfect for more casual days at the office. Very similar to the original Pour un Homme de Caron, except that this is lighter and perkier. This is a soothing, calming scent that feels elegant to wear. A solid LIKE for the scent -- maybe even LOVE -- but the projection and sillage brings it down to an OK for me. Lasted barely an hour on me, and only projected well in the first twenty minutes after I oversprayed. Too bad, because I wouldn't mind enveloping myself in this for prolonged periods of time.

Bright citrus, sharp, astringent, bitter fragrance. Smells like something a very disciplined and strict person would wear. Does not smell bad but doesn’t smell fun loving either. If I smelled someone wearing this I would feel like they were going to judge me. It’s light, which is good. If it were too strong it would be intolerable. However, where it sits on the skin is exactly where it should. I like it, but it doesn’t really fit my personality.

Got a small vial with atomizer of this and was pleased with the smell. It smelled more feminine though. More so than unisex. Would rather spray it in the house with the windows open after a spring rainstorm. Very relaxing scent.

Just received my sample..Its fresh indeed.But with poor projection.Exactly like the "Sport" flanker..Until now Pour Homme and L'Anarchist my favorites.I must try Yatagan and Third Man.Caron really needs a resurrection with a brand new fragrance...

Faint like water no matter how much you spray. Hints of lime, vanilla and lavender in the water. Redundant. If you want something this intimate for a hot summer day, Dior Homme Cologne smells so much better.

Nothing like the sport flanker. This is probably what most people expected Caron Pour Un Homme Sport to be, and it probably should have been released under that name, and in place of the other fragrance in the first place. It's a beautiful scent, and clearly connected to its pillar, Caron Pour Un Homme. In short, it's a lighter, airier, and more watery version of the original, with a subtle citrus flavor dusting its perimeters and an aromatic, almost-mineralic/earthy but light geranium accord infused throughout. It opens with the same quirky, herbal lavender of Homme, and this lavender quickly merges with the geranium. Beneath it all, there's something quietly bordering on a dry, ozonic smokiness. I'm not sure what's responsible for this, but it's certainly there, and it could very well be the ambergris note and how I'm interpreting it. If ambergris is thought to have a "skin-like salty and warm effect," it's not much of a stretch to interpret that as a dry, ozonic smokiness. Finally, the base rests in a gentle but solid balanced vanilla. Tthese are the main notes and accords at play in Pour Un Homme L'Eau and it creates a scent that it is both a pleasure to smell and also quite original and distinct. And as mentioned already, it is clearly routed in the Pour Un Homme. Overall it moves from an airy, citric, and at times watery lavender to a more dry and somewhat mineralic/ozonic lavender, all the time remaining light, with a diffusive density and soft projection. Where this may disappoint people is in its strength. It's a soft scent, and it is not dense. It never projects much more than beyond a foot, and will most likely be noticed in subtle, mysterious wafts as opposed to any constant presence. Personally, I really enjoy the way it's been handled here--the "l'eau" version of Caron Pour Un Homme, just strong enough to tickle my senses but never strong enough to really distract my attention. I don't own many light fragrances, and this is easily among my 5 lightest, but there are times and situations when something this light is called for, and times when it's preferred. This will be a great choice for those times, and something I'll happily douse myself with and then go about my day. Worth checking out as soon as it becomes more widely available in the States. Final rating, 8.5/10. Side note: Caron Pour Un Homme Sport is at least twice as strong as this...easily. It features sharp (in a good way) lemon notes and a dominant vanilla accord blended with a reduced, toned-down lavender that sits at about 40% of the strength of the original, and maybe about 40% in terms of its proportion to the other main notes and accords in the composition. While it doesn't smell like a "sports" fragrance, it's a little less quirky and a little more mainstream than Pour Un Homme L'Eau. It has more common smells and a more widely acceptable strength, with both decent projection and longevity. I find L'Eau much more interesting and more skillfully composed than Sport, but it's worth looking at both to see which one you prefer, as Sport clearly has certain advantages over L'Eau (just as L'Eau has certain advantages over Sport).

This is SOOOOOOOOOOOO good. As Buysblind mentioned it's not branched with the "Sport" flanker (which was actually sweeter to me than original PuH). This is so much more than a "summery Pour un Homme" - this is actually more like a modern update for PuH in general. It takes the lavender-vanilla eruption that is the original and tones it down or "cuts" it with the lime and vetiver. This serves the intended purpose of making it better for warm weather, but it also serves the perhaps unintended purpose of rounding out and giving more dimension to the original classic. You could call this the relaunched PuH, rebrand the original as PuH "Intense" and I don't think anyone would bat an eye. If you know anybody who found the original to be "too much" they may enjoy this considerably more. For lovers of the original, this will be a treasured summer variant - for anyone else though this might be far more welcome and versatile. This really needs some hype because I think the popular appeal of this to the general public will be much higher than that of the original.

At first spray, L'eau smells like the cereal Fruity Pebbles to me...sweet and kinda delicious. After the lime settles, I get the original Caron in there, albeit much lighter and fresher. The vanilla is toned down. The overall effect makes me think of clean cotton puffs or a plush, feather pillow. This is much lighter in concentration than the original...less noticeable and doesn't last as long. But, this is a really nice, modern take on the original...a bright, upscale cologne. L'eau is super easy to wear, good for bedtime, good to do gentlemanly (or ladylike) things. Good stuff.

Beginner here so be aware of that. What a delightful scent. The lime and lavender opening is superb and razor sharp. When the lime dries down a subtle musk and vanilla support the lavender. The clarity of the scents and the transitions as you wear are just first class. A house like Caron that can also do a scent like Yatagan that is equally compelling has becomes a bit of a favourite.

I agree with.... Hfjf...lmnop.. Point is... agree. This is a very subtle, watery lavender. I have been wearing it for a few days now.. it lasts on my skin about 4-5 hours.. and I can pick up light / faint whiffs of a beautiful lavender. Definitely meant to be a subtle, clean, gentlemanly scent.. Maybe layer with another lavender fragrance if it’s not strong enough..

I got my bottle today. Very fresh, a fantastic blend of lavender, lemon, geranium, amber and vetiver, and thank goodness, no ozone note. It's very noticeable on my skin. I love this perfume

Smells similar to the Sport version but really, really smoothed out and diluted. A skin scent almost immediately. I have higher hopes for the Le Matin flanker. Le Soir is really nice.

I love the masculine fragrances from CARON, so I'm very curious about this one! Pour un homme is among my favorite fragrances of all time.

L’Eau smells like the cologne version of the sport version. Good, but kinda redundant if one has the Sport flanker.

As a fan of the original Pour Un Homme, I can't wait to try this flanker.
