Tabac Noir (2021)

Once Ive sprayed it I have got I feeling I remember it.. I definitely tested it before! Tabac Noir notes I recognize in other brands with tobacco perfumes (tobaco+vanilla+patchouli). They are all smell very similar to me: Tom Ford, I am sure I tried smth from Mancera with the same bouquet. However, it is made so round, so perfect, ideal for any gender. I am not a fan of so pure tobacco notes, but it is a great job! Nothing more to add.

Stunning. Calm, poised, very well balanced tobacco perfume. Not dramatic, but very self-assured and I find it attractive. Completely unisex. I mostly feel just a beautiful tobacco note and soft whispers of labdanum, honey, tonka and papyrus. Very sexy, can't stop smelling it. +

Better than Tabac Exquis, but still a thumbs down. The pepper makes this drier than Exquis, and it has a more defined tobacco note, so it’s more masculine. After half an hour this is starting to show some promise, but it lacks a personality, individuality, and isn’t exciting enough to make me want to wear it. Smells a little green/earthy, perhaps from the patchouli note, which becomes more dominant on my skin over time. If I wanted a patchouli fragrance I’d choose Serge Lutens Borneo 1834.

The opening of this fragrance is mindblowing. It's everything I long for in a tobacco fragrance! Sensual and seductive. To me however, the opening accords fade and make way to a much greener fragrances than it lets on (and greener than I would like, it takes away from how sensual it is). It then takes several hours to bare the vanilla, tonka and honey.

Tabac Noir Unisex with masculine lean. Again I feel the perfumer Jean Jaques has again used the cedar/patch idea once again in these new products and with papyrus (dear god no) pulls this masculine rather a true unisex. I dont know if he isnt adept at making a true unisex entry like Sheldrake is at Lutens but Im at a loss for words. I wear quite a bit of unisex fragrances but components in here dont make these truly unisex for a woman. The opening tobacco/pepper is lovely. Once the aeromatic papyrus with the cedar get involved it just turns this into a tough wear. The patchouli used is great as far as patchoulis go but again this repeats in the new offerings. If you are a man, I encourage you to try this. If you are a woman trying to wear something like the idea of the iconic Tabac Blond, sample first. I think Thomas Fontaine would have been a better choice for Caron as perfumer. Hopefully Jean Jaques finds his groove soon.

I don't think I ever tried the vintage version. This is a 2021 formula, what I get is a woody honey tobacco scent with some patchouli and resins. It is pleasant, but for a reference, it reminds me a lot of Mancera Red Tobacco, although this is much more lighter and wearable for a female than RT. Very pleasant but I doubt the vintage would smell like this, it feels just too modern. Now I have to hunt a decant of the vintage to help my annoying curiosity.

Likeable, but lacking in personality. Smells like something from Penhaligon's, if you get the vibe. Also not even remotely close to Mystery Tobacco, which I've been sampling for a while now.
