Carthusia Uomo

This is a classic 'green' fragrance for men. The dominant notes are oakmoss, cedar and geranium, giving a clean, crisp, gentlemanly and classic fragrance that performs well with respect to longevity and projection. This fragrance fits in a bracket of a 'classic' fragrance style. It could not be called a modern fragrance. However, it certainly does not have a dated feel, owing to the crisp, fresh and clean nature of the fragrance. My opinion is that this sits in the same ballpark as Green Irish Tweed (not in terms of scent similarity, but rather in terms of the style of fragrance) however my feeling is that this Creed is highly dated and stuffy, whereas Uomo is not. This fragrance works very well in the office owing to its clean nature. While musk features as a basenote, I would say that this is not overpowering, meaning it is suitable for indoor use in an office as well as outdoors. I find that this cuts through the cold particularly well, and as such it is my favourite choice for colder, windier days when spending time outdoors. It is quite versatile. My last point on this fragrance is that my girlfriend (26yo) absolutely loves this on me. It is a manly, strong, clean and fresh scent that she enjoys a great deal. While not all that original in composition, it is of noticeable quality and is completely timeless. It is the finest from the Carthusia lineup. Last Summer I visited several Carthusia stores around the Amalfi Coast and just got overwhelmed with the many great options. This year’s visit I knew I had to get something. I visited the factory store (literally can watch them make the perfumes through a window) and forced myself to settle on buying just one and not three. Carthusia has many great offerings, although none are honestly groundbreaking. I went with this one after much deliberation and patient sales associate. It has hard to pass up a citrus, but I have some of the best citrus fragrances in the world in my collection already. I wanted another manly, everyday, soapy, woody, barbershop scent. This fits the ticket. I don’t think this one is likely a big compliment getter. It certainly hasn’t been for me. But I feel confident when I wear it, and it smells mature (while not being old mannish), high quality, and just generally good. This is a good “dumb reach@ fragrance when you’re looking through your collection and can’t decide what to wear. This will fit any weather, any occasion, and just work. The performance is pretty good; I can easily get a full day out of it, albeit not monstrous projection. Even high heat with sweating, by the end of the day I could still smell it some. The only thing that I can fault it for is the bottle. It’s very basic and has a cheap plastic cap. Just nitpicking at this point. Great addition to any collection.

This is in the league of the mature/barbershop type of smell. Carthusia uomo is a nice fragrance, fresh with bergamot and lemon, warm with sandalwood and spicies, elegant with amber, oakmoss and clean with musk and grass. The scent is not heavy but airy, cozy and rounded. It's something refined but not too serious, ideal for a kind gentleman. If you like as i do fragrances like bois du Portugal, chanel pour monsieur, platinum egoiste, paco rabanne xs, old grigioperla, margiela at barber's or roja scandal cologne u will appreciated carthusia uomo. This scent is in that direction, so nothing for young people or for sporty enviroments. The performance is so so, good projection for the first hour, then became a skin scent. Longevity 5-6h. CU is a manly, barbershop-like fragrance, a bit old school but not dated, classy, sophisticated, old money style and very elegant, but an understated elegance. It's more like a cashmear sweater from Brunello Cuccinelli than a hoodie from Balenciaga. The fragrance is woody, aromatic, green. Fresh but with a solid woody/green backbone. CU is in the same realm of TF Beau de Jour, Amouage Beach hut man, Creed GIT (but dryer), without being too close to the frags just mentioned. I think CU would be appropriate for men over 30-35, put together and masculine individuals who are confident but not arrogant and loud. CEO vibe 100%, but not of a woke company (this for sure). If you like old school, classic fragrances, those type of scents which never get out of style like Persol sun glasses or a double breasted navy blazer with metal buttons, then try this scent out and you won't be disappointed. Performance wise I would say CU is very long lasting (8-10 hours plus on my skin), but it's not a loud, projecting scent. To smell it, people need to be a bit closer to you (let's say an arm radius), but an elegant scent it's never too loud. If you can, test it before buying, because this frag I guess is not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like TF Beau de Jour, Creed GIT or Viking, Amouage Beach hut man, then you're gonna like CU as well for sure.

Nostalgia has over run my senses here. Uono has got everything that inspires words like masculine, clean, soapy and most of all dated. Personally I don't care it's a wonderful mixture of a lemony citrus opening which soon turns to powdery geranium and a touch of greeness with fresh woody cedar. There's warmth in there sure but I can't say I detect an amber accord more like sandalwood. The kicker notes throughout, oakmoss and musk they keep it sour and interesting, not too barbershop soapy. Uomo is strong and long lasting and has something elegant about it which I'm really enjoying. Certhusia Uomo is brilliant I have to say! I'm very surprised because this is not especially my usual type of fragrance but for some reason I'm enjoying this one a great deal. It has all the great qualities of classic juices like Old Spice or Kouros.

It's a green with some very nice Italian esque citruses, and and a prominent undertone of something very masculine, slightly dirty and ashy. Although it smells nothing like TDH, this masculine bite reminds me of the vibe of flint and vetiver in TDH. This is a great fragrance and I got a legit 8 to 9 hours on my skin. My skin usually drinks fragrance, and most of the time only highly synthetic fragrances last this long on my skin. The kicker is this doesn't smell synthetic. Leans heavily masculine IMO. Great release and a fair price from a great Italian house. Scent 8.7/10 Performance 8/10

Carthusia Uomo is one of my favorite fragrances for men, and i have had lots!!! that's an unique combination of wild raspberry, rosewood and leathery marine oak...it's fresh yet manly, last a long for a medium sillage.I used to wear Pontaccio 21 by Gianfranco Ferre, and it's in the same way...if you'are fed up with ambroxan bombs nowadays, just take a look at this; you might be impressed.

It’s incredibly similar to Diptyque Eau de Minthe (which itself has similarities to Drakkar Noir). Carthusia Uomo is a bit lighter and weaker than Eau de Minthe, but they both have that musky 80s masculinity. 40+ suave Italian guy vibes for sure - I get why Clooney wears it. Between the two I recommend shelling out a few more $$ for the Diptyque. It’s the same thing but higher quality.

Power! It smells like a fancy dinner in Italy. Gives off a fresh yet sexy scent perfect for summer. It’s very masculine and elegant, smells manly like some sort of hair gel, but in a good way. Might fit better for men and not young adults or teenagers.

Wow Carthusia Uomo is a blast of geranium and green leaves. It smells sophisticated and clean. Balanced off by soft musk, woody notes and citrus. Very, very masculine. I love the way I smell right now. Very well made and long lasting.

I think this fragrance is what you would expect a man’s cologne to smell like it smells a bit like hair wax or hair gel. It doesn’t smell that great, there’s definitely better fragrance out there for the price although if there aren’t any other options and I am left with this fragrance. I would still put it on. I don’t mind the scent, but it is definitely not something that I would purchase myself. it is a very masculine scent. The dried down base notes are quite pleasant. Definitely not a very overpowering smell. 5/10 average men’s fragrance.

A refreshing smell in a sea of modern day blues and gourmands. A green opening is supported by masculine white flowers. Fresh, but not airy. The heart belongs to geranium and woods - clean, masculine and slightly austere. Dry down is a well done but somewhat incognito, a familiar combination of mosses and woods. Staying power is fair on my skin, but this scent is not strongly projecting. Overall, a very clean and masculine smell. Perfect combination with a sharp haircut and a well-fitted suit, helping you power through work.

Carthusia Uomo is a pretty, nose-friendly, gentlemanly fragrance: a combination of aromatic notes, florals, and wood notes underneath. (It really has a barbershop kind of feel to it.) It has a particularly nice sandalwood finish. This is perfectly lovely, but it has moderate sillage, and when compared to similar perfumes, it's not really all that special. This would be a very nice work fragrance, although as other reviewers below me state, you could get something similar that's more memorable for half the price.

This fits into the classic masculine, barbershop category. Very similar to eau de minthe, drakkar noir, Milano cento, bon monsieur. Each one of those “sings” slightly differently. Carthusia Uomo comes across smooth, lightly sweet, lightly textured, with a little bit of darkness, almost a hint of chocolate. Very pleasant. I love a classic masculine barbershop scent. This one makes sense on an elevated day wearing something nice, not for the gym or a ketchup stained sweatsuit.

Positives: a classy nice scent. A safe bet as well. Performance on me is really good! Negatives: Not for the young and cool but rather for the older and classy. I got a sample and I used it when I'm dressed up in a retro style. Think a rich guy from the 80s on a not too hot summer day. Also, there is a lot going on in this perfume, lots of depth, notes and strength so it's not the most casual or laid back, I feel.

It's a warm scent, maybe because of the woods, cedar and geranium. Feels elegant and old fashion. Unlike most fragrances for men this days, in here the citrus opening notes are almost non-existent, the cedar is quite obvious from the beginning. So if you are looking for a modern scent, maybe this is not the right scent. But if you like classic, timeless perfumes, then this may be the one for you.

It's nice, quite moreish but... it just smells like Gucci pour Homme or L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme, it's that profile. So if you don't have those (both deleted) then you could get this - I'd say it's not as strong as those two, those two are great commercial frags, this niche copy isn't bad but just... less. Not FBW for me, not at all.

It smells like how men’s perfumes used to smell when I was a kid in the 90s, like a rugged sweaty man put on some woodsy kinda fresh scent. It’s nice but I am looking for something more fun at the moment.

Smell from the cap scent so good. I love it. But seems not well match on my skin. so many people told me that she/he feels like talking with a guy older than 40+ or more. But i still love it anyway.

This is a very woody fragrance. Think along the lines of Gucci Pour Homme or even Creed Royal Oud. While it’s well done, it’s not something I need in my collection.

I tend to stay away from fragrances that contain lily of the valley as a note because it just rubs me the wrong way in an olfactory sense, but I thought I would be fine with Carthusia Uomo because it seems to be buried amongst so many other notes that I like. And while it's definitely not the dominant player, it's definitely detectable and kind of ruins this one for me.

Very unique, perhaps for a reason. I have smelled many colognes, some of which I love, many others which I enjoyed but would not wear, but this is one of the very rare ones that I find actually unpleasant. It is neither warm, nor sexy, nor lively...

This is just simply not for me, doesn’t smell very inviting. It’s definitely an acquired scent that you will need to like over time. Very bitter in my opinion. Will not be grabbing a full bottle of this one.

Plain ans somewhat boring. Maybe I'm not a big fan of oak moss, but this is not on I'd wear. Received as a free sample and won't be making a purchase.

I received bottle of this today after getting it on a great price from beatury habit. They were kind enough to also include a sample so that I could try it before opening the package. Soon as i smelled it I felt I had smelled this before. After a while it suddenly hit me that this has a resemblence to a classic from a foregone era: the original from eight & bob. Given their target audience that would make a lot of sense. Very gentlemanly and grown up. Some would say it smells dated and I hate that term. I'd rather have this as aged as opposed to 1 million in say 10 years. Fragantica does not list vanilla as a note but it's actually in the description given by Carthusia in official sample. This gives it a certain sweetness/powdery quality that goes well with the oakmoss, cedar, and different florals aimed at making it gentle, instead of rugged or rough as you might expect from your classic men's fragrance. You get that vibe of a classy guy who just got a shave from an actual barber. Not sure if I'd want to own both, but given as my bottle of The Original is almost empty this makes for a great alternative . Enjoy and keep on smelling great you semi-old basterds!

This perfume has a classical note. It reminds me of a classical traditional scent that was used in the 50th. There is no doubt the house of Carthusia is great house that uses natural ingredients. having said this, this perfume is a bit different compared to the other perfumes of this house. Carthusia has a obligation by papal declaration ( subscriptum papale) to use in their recipes only ingredients that were known and used in the 18th century (read the history of this house.) It is not a typical Italian perfume, meaning it is not fresh but warm. It is a perfume with accents in wood and green-aromatic notes. But there is also that typical note used in aftershaves like the green leaves note but not in a cheap way. It is like all carthusia perfumes complex. But what some say here in their reviews about some notes contained in this perfume, like raspberry isn't the case. Back to this perfume. It is a classical perfume that has notes that are more on the male spectrum. It is more warm than fresh and therefore a perfume that has its best qualities in autumn and winter. Its longevity is good with that typical silage you associate with a fresh shaved man.

I would never have guessed that raspberry could work in a male fragrance. I'm glad that Carthusia Uomo has proved me wrong. Carthusia Uomo smells deliciously sophisticated and rich. It's quite distinctive with sharp notes of fruity raspberry, rosewood, leather and salt. Thankfully this fragrance isn't too sweet. The raspberry note is natural, meaning that the only sweetness here is what you may expect from smelling a basket of freshly picked berries. I do agree with this fragrance being an aromatic. It has a lovely, soothing quality despite its liveliness. Carthusia is quite a busy scent although it is not as complex as some fragrances. The scent reminds me of the smell of a brand, spanking new computer. 'New-ness' has a smell, and Carthusia Uomo kind of has that the same smell. To be honest it was the first thing I noticed when I first smelt this. The lasting power and sillage were good for me, and especially pleasing was the development on the skin, which was rather crisp and energizing. Once again I am impressed with Carthusia.

Uomo is a classic late 80s style gentleman's aromatic done superbly, it cannot be denied. Its round, balanced, lilting. It has the crisp, clean, tailored feel, with barbershop ambience. However, there isn't any new ground broken here. Milano Cento does this with a bit more panache and won my attention some time ago, not to mention there are many classics direct from the time period that arguably have more character. Be that is it may, if this is your cup of tea, that is more than valid, own it. It's really well done. I just can't justify spending more time than I have with this sample vial on myself when I already have and enjoy others in this style.

For anyone who’s been wanting to experience this classic scent profile, Aigner First Class Executive is well worth checking out. It’s not a perfect clone, but it comes surprisingly close and easily captures the spirit of Carthusia Uomo. The main difference is that Aigner tones down the floral and green touches, so it feels a little less “barbershop” in character. Unless you smell them side by side, most people probably won’t notice much difference. At nearly half the price, it’s a fantastic value and hard to go wrong with. Easily one of the better office-friendly scents out there.

4.5/5. This is incredibly sexy. I'm a gay man and got a decant for myself, but my ideal would be for my future boyfriend to wear this. It definitely is a more vintage style of scent but I don't think it smells overly old on me, and I'm in my mid 20s. I don't see the similarity to Diptyque Eau de Minthe at all- there's no mint! Just a very classic, masculine, sexy scent, where each individual note is hard to pick out on its own.

I would rather categorize this as a woody-floral-musk scent. The floral part is mostly dominated by Jasmine and Geranium. The woody part is a generic combination of Cedar/ Sandal/ Oakmoss and all this rest upon a sweet soft musky note. It smells nice and pleasant and has good longevity and moderate projection. Overall: 6.5 out of 10.

While Carthusia Uomo is anything but unpleasant, at the same time it doesn't have a a single aspect that makes it stand out. It honestly reminds me of millions of modern citrus/woody masculines of the past 20 years. Well crafted but incredibly anonimous. Pass. Rating: 5/10

This fragrance reminds me of a old Insignia deodorant (light blue can) from the Eighties. It also bears a resemblance to Ice Men by Mugler. It has a fresh musky mossy geranium scent mixed in with woods. It smells nice but very one dimensional, it does not hold my interest.

meroo is bang-on about the 80's vibe, however I would date the style to the mid 1970's perhaps even earlier. It reminded me of a potent version of the original Gucci which I have on hand for comparsion. It is not a sweet frangrance nor a spicy one, maybe a bit old school.

got a free sample of this with an order opens fresh & green with citruses slightly aquatic fruity freesia before drying down to a soily mossy woody fougere bitter and dry with rosy grassy wood tones after an hour the fruity freezia notes become noticeable again

Carthusia Uomo is a classic fresh scent. An initial burst of spellbinding citrussy-raspberry transcends seamlessly into a longlasting and luxurious rosewood middle(that's very unique). The drydown is earthily aquatic and longlasting. This is a well made scent!

I'm wearing some now. I used to be a fan, but I've changed my mind about it a bit. Now it just seems very dated, "50's Italian" and very musky. I prefer Acqua di Parma.

The geranium is the highlight of this fragrance. It's like a less complex, more dated, more mossy, version of Fougere Royale. For the price, just go for FR.
