Corallium

Like breathing sea air, but a purifed one, not so full of salt....and with it the aroma of all the herbs you can find in the woodlands near the beach. Truly something you could smell in the wind of Capri! To summarize all the effects this scent gives, I would say in order of importance: woody, breezy, salty, herbaceous, musky, aromatic and even clean. No solar accords though, as someone may erroneously think. The scent opens strong on the citrus notes but bitter myrrh gives a classy touch to what otherwise would have been just typical Italian bergamot and sweet mandarin (very good quality per se, but maybe a bit redundant in this type of "mediterranean" compositions). I don't know if it is the bay leaf, but the opening may result more masculine, however when the woods make themselves known the perfume moves on another level, becoming almost universal...with no gender, more like something that could be impressed in the collective memory as the scent of a precious sea bay, of a world's heritage site! Infact the woods have the central stage, and they smell as if dripped in seawater (they present a gentle saltiness, forget the heavy typical calone of marines like Acqva di Sale from Profvmvm Roma), even the cedar has this effect. The other dominant part is strongly aromatic and herbaceous, with laurel and sage that give to the fragrance an "herbal remedy/medicinal" vibe, specially paired with the remains of the myrrh, but it is done very elegantly, the effect does not go overboard probably also thanks to the sweet clean musk of the base that already peaks through. The peculiar note of "Tree Goldmoss Stonecrop", a sort of wild fat plant, a musk/herbaceous carpet that grows in the wild and at the foot of trees, can be felt too and gives a pungent aromatic/balsamic camphorated/ fresh facet. And also the watery effect that the cactus note sometimes impart. The herbal aspect come and go during the life of the scent, and give to the perfume a truly unisex/androgynous vibe. The dry down is all white musk on me, plus something a little ambroxan, and remainds me a bit of the type of musky dry down of Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue (the first, original edt). It is clean, lightly powdery, a little sweetened (maybe a resin is also in the dry down?), and still salty in the most refined way. Probably even a little flowery. It's very sophisticated this scent...I do see it being used in a cool summer night by some rich turist during their holiday...maybe even in Capri, to which the brand refers. I actually picture a male and a female, all dressed in expensive pure beige linen, some Loro Piana loafers at their foot and Bottega Veneta bags on their arms, casually strolling along the seafront, discussing Sartre. They may very well be rich french intellectuals! It is luxurious the vibe of this perfume, but it smells more like "quiet luxury" then "name brands luxury", more qualitative then catchy. Lasting power is unfortunately not that good on my skin...3 hours to be generous, dry down lingers more then that but it is very intimate. Projection is feeble, however if you overspray it leaves behind a trail of delicious musky saltness...you smell it and it makes you want to leave everything and go far away...free on a desolate beach. Imagine a hot summer day on the coast of south Italy near Naples, exploring a small town known for its beauty and natural landscapes, filled with cliffs and not yet ripened lemon trees. You can see the beautiful bright red corals in the radiant sea, to me this smells exactly like those corals that you see combined with the fresh air of the country side you're in. The opening is for sure citrusy, you can surely smell the bay leaf, but it all comes down to being aromatic, aquatic, woody fragnance. To me it smells very aquatic even tho not many people can smell it. The blend is for sure unique. I would wear it more in spring because it's very light and almost indistinguishable, which i like in the spring. The sillage is pretty weak and thats sad cus i love this fragnance. For the price point i would say its very good, i bought it whilst i was in Capri island in the summer. Sadly there is nowhere to buy Carthusia fragnances in my country. I would rate this 9/10. Definitely one of my favs!

I haven't been so impressed by anything lately that would make me write a review of it. But this one is gradually becoming my new perfume addiction. I received it as a present from my mom coming back from a holiday in Capri. At first, I got struck by that sharp and rather masculine smell, almost like a classical eau de cologne. It opens with crisp and unisex citrusy+cedar smell but if you keep your attention on it, soon you'll notice that softer and delicately sweet notes appear. This is one of those rich fragrances that reveal their multilayer character once you give them a chance. Besides that, the bottle is really classy and beautiful! I personally prefer sweet to extremely sweet scents for cold weather, but for summer exclusively I choose bittery-tart compositions that got me exceptionally refreshed. That's why I love this one so madly. Recommended for connoisseurs!

Corallium is holographic summer warmth as the season comes to a close. It is skin lacquered with ocean brine, dune vegetation like samphire, succulents, and spongy sprigs of sea wormwood, the dry August air, rendered bittersweet with myrrh and orange peel. During one segment of its wear is the sensation of fresh laundry under the sun, and white musks mixed with smudge sticks. It is not aquatic, but more aquatic adjacent, "by-the-sea," and has an insouciance that may underwhelm some, but where it lacks in boldness is more than made up for in its character—and longevity. It is the one fragrance I've found that approximates the sensation of sand as if it were to have a monolithic smell. I would file this under "your skin but better," something that carries reminders throughout the day as you shuffle about.

When people talk about quiet luxury, this is what they mean. Corallium is understated and elegant yet assertive enough to make sure you take its wearer seriously. It is the kind of fragrance I associate with effortlessly chic Italian travellers at the airport. A wearer of spotless white linen. I once spent two weeks on Lake Garda with my wretched progeny who complained prodigiously about the WiFi, but what I choose to remember of that halcyon time was the early morning air before the sun heated the rocks. Cool and shady with a distinct undercurrent of minerals and wood and just a hint of unripe citrus fruit. That's what Corallium smells like, and when I wear it, I hardly recollect how many times I had to listen to someone yowling "mooooooooommmmm" while I tried to read my God damn fairy porn novel.

This perfume is wow and like the other Carthusia fragances this one is also hard to describe because it has something mysterious. And that makes this house so special. it progresses very slowly. And the most reviews state this slowly progressing process. After a silence in scent it evolves too a very distinctive and elegant note. Dominant is the citric -spicy scent with a salty note from the bay-leafs. The woody note is predominantly the cedar. The most wonderful thing that indeed it's scent reminds you of the typical smell of stones and corals that have the typical fresh-salty sea-smell. This is very elegant perfume. The sage is in the background together with the musk providing a nice tone. Just beautiful, elegant and very profound high class.

Very gentle and natural quality that sets it apart from synthetic scents. Applies to the skin very delicately, leaving a luxurious and fresh aroma that lingers. First got my nose on this in Capri at the flagship store and that experience of smelling it there among the bougainvillea and lemon trees will always be an unforgettable memory. Despite being on the priceyside, it's well worth the cost. Balances sweetness with a subtle woodiness, and finishes with a blend of clean and crisp musky notes. It's extremely unisex and versatile while staying sophisticated and classy, making a memorable impression on anyone. There is something in there though that makes it a bit scratchy in my throat. Nonetheless, it is my spring signature scent.

While visiting the beautiful Lore Perfumery in Melbourne VIC, I was recommended this while looking for a summer option to fill my collection. Cooling, herbal citruses on top. Followed by an atypical marine element which I credit more to the creativity of the perfumer than the notes themselves. The dry down is a warmer fluffy, clean musk (like pressing your face into a towel, warmed by the sand beneath, after getting out of the ocean). Beautiful and natural. Lucky to have been shown this. Also interestingly features an uncommon note of sedum/Stonecrop which had just been listed as "resins" in the breakdown. Very cool. EDIT: This is so, so good. First time I've ever felt the urge to buy a back up bottle.

I have never been to Capri, so I can't say if this fragrance renders the fresh breeze of Capri or not. However, last year I was on Thassos Island, Greece. And Corallium reminds me of that place: resinous pine woods growing on a small hill rights above a crystal clear turquoise salty waters of a calm bay, balmy air with detectable aromas of sun-lit aromatic herbs and sun-warmed soil. Carthusia's Corallium embraces all that atmosphere of peaceful summer warmth that I miss so much. And although the fragrance is very rich and thick, it fits summertime pefectly well. One of my favourites for the coming summer. Long lasting, with moderate sillage. Overall rate: 9/10

This is such a pleasant citrus scent! It's bright and fresh with a soft woody quality in the base, it's aromatic without tickling your eyes and nose, and it's citrusy without being sharp or like household cleaner. The citrus is prominent and juicy with bergamot and orange in the opening. Definitely office safe without being boring. Leans masculine but I'd definitely wear it in the summer. Feels a little aquatic and salty like the sea breeze, but not fleeting, and also has this sort of smooth pasty quality (like the texture and density of red bean paste) likely from the myrrh smoothing it all out. I like it a lot! Easy to wear.

This is a bracing herbaceous scent perfect for hot day or when one needs a pick-me-up. I smell the sage, bay, and cedar along with citrus the most. It almost has a lavender quality to it. It is unisex though may be a tad masculine for some in the first few minutes and then settles down into a warmer though still brisk scent. Silage is low and longevity moderate. While I don't think this is a love love scent, I will be picking up a FB as this does suit any occasion and is very versatile and well-done, a little different. I also agree with many below: this is a scent memory of the Mediterranean.

This hit all the spots for me. An aromatic cedar that, unlike most cedar scents, isn’t overbearing and altogether woody. The citrus/herbal opening is a breath of fresh air. The dry down has a soft, approachable cedar base, almost milky (the musk no doubt) that has the advantage of the bay, sage and patchouli. Just a wonderful blend that I immediately bought after trying a decant. The only downside is that its longevity and silage aren’t that great. It also layers unbelievably well over City Rhythm’s 2654 and that’s how I prefer wearing it. Get both as decants and try them together.

The opening is quite similar to Roma Uomo, but has a bit of a cleaner feel to it, like more soapy. An innocent counterpart. The white musk really pops out on my skin which gives it a clean sheets hanging to dry in summer -vibe. The scent does transport me to a place like Capri in summer. Not bad, but did expect a little bit more having read all the reviews. Looking forward to see how it dries down on my skin.

i love the unisex goodness that this frag has to offer! on one hand its woodsy and bold, the cedar and resin notes hit hard, but it's also incredibly fresh and elegant at the same time with the bay leaf, bergamot and citrus. an all-around classy af scent! EDIT- it's like a creamier, smoother, more unisex version of old spice!! works super well with my skin chemistry:))

What a great discovery! This really smells similar to royal water by Creed. It has very good quality. It’s woody, aromatic, fresh at the same time. It’s really intriguing and versatile. The price is on point too. I really disagree about poir longevity. As usual, nose gets blind with a lot of people after some mins. Worth a bottle 🙂

Whoa, this is gorgeous. Facets of lemon, herbs, woods, spice, sand and something almost edible. Very gentle. It does seem to disappear rather quickly on the skin but then pops up when I least expect it even the citrus top notes. Truly one of the most refined fragrances. Adore. Signature worthy.

Definitely aromatic and a bit aquatic, but it also has a dusty sandy feel to it, the notes are not distinguishable to me, but the blend is special, I have not smelled it before.

One of my favourite perfumes! So complex yet delicate, fresh yet sensual. Every time I wear it people comment "OH MY GOD you smell good!!!" :-) literally every time! I love it.

Cedar is, maybe, the most omnipresent note in low-budget perfumery of today. Also, it's in every deodorant, every aftershave and lots of shower gels and stuff. However, if you really want to try a well-made cedar perfume, Corallium is the one to look for. Naturally, this one is about more than just cedar tree. It opens in a typical Carthusia manner, with a bunch of natural citrus notes, more sweet at first(mandarin orange, I guess) and, later, more bitter and sour due to prominent bergamot. Then, a well-done cedar note joins, along with some herbs like sage and laurel leaf that give this scent an aromatic vibe. The cedar note stays here until the end of the evolution, joined by some more woods and maybe a touch of musk in the drydown. Rather simple and usual, you may say, but the natural quality gives this one a dimension that other similar scents just don't have. I would say that this one is a bit more masculine, but I strongly encourage everyone, especially women, to try this - the notes can sound like a cliché masculine EDC, but it's not. Corallium is an easy-to-wear perfume. It can be worn throughout the year, but I feel spring and summer, maybe early autumn fit it best - it's not sweet/strong/oriental enough for winter wear IMO. Also, it fits every occasion and every outfit within those mentioned seasons. It has perceptible sillage and solid longevity of about six hours or so. Another winner from this very underrated brand. Even if rather familiar and standard, the way it's done is the way this genre should be done. 8.5/10

Corallium is a fresh scent that offers a great alternative to mass market aquatics. The opening is of orange and green citruses, gradually giving way to water, soft woods, light musk and green herbs. A gently spiced nose feel & floral note that is cooling and fresh is an interesting twist in the heart, which I believe is the goldmoss stonecrop. Corallium becomes rather woody and a little warmer in the dry-down, but never becomes heavy at all. The woods do dry up the scent somewhat, rounding out the fresh and slightly wet top end. The smell, overall, is quite natural, though the individual notes do lack some definition - after the opening, the notes all blend together without much separation. (Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.) Performance is decent, though the scent is polite compared with designer aquatics and blues for men. Altogether very fresh and immensely wearable, Corallium is a coastal scent that isn't too salty or drowned in ambroxan. I would consider it unisex, especially in comparison with masculine aquatics such as the modern AdG flankers. A worthy contender for a signature summer scent, and stands out as interesting yet natural smelling in comparison to most calonic water scents.

I often buy fragrances at a nice perfume boutique close to where I work. I don't do blind buys, I prefer to test things properly before parting with my hard earned cash, and I enjoy the process of discovering new brands and their scent-making philosophies. The sales assistants at the boutique already know what I like and dislike, and they often stash some interesting testers for me. This is how I got hold of a 2ml tester of Corallium by Carthusia. This is a very surprising fragrance. The initial burst is much sweeter than I'd expected, courtesy of tangerine and myrrh; but it soon grows in a whole new direction, turning green and spicy with the arrival of cedar, sage and bay leaves. I like it a lot, and if I hadn't already bought FM Lys Mediterranee, I would have gladly invested in this one.

Corallium is a fresh aromatic that opens with zesty citrus notes surrounded by sage and sweet myrrh which provide the aromatic aspect. I get a dusty feeling from it right after the first minutes and parts of it remind me of a similar accord found in Narciso Rodriguez For Him, a musk-patchouli-violet leaf combo. Overall this is a pretty sweet fragrance and I was expecting the woody part, but it never came, unfortunately. Scent: 6.5/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 6/10

Corallium is a beautiful and unique scent! It's definitely woody and aromatic, with a lovely citrusy freshness that makes it perfect for warmer weather. The cedarwood and patchouli in the middle notes are grounding and earthy, while the sage and white musk add a touch of clean elegance. It lasts a long time on my skin, which is always a bonus.

So interesting!!!! There's something ALMOST woody and nutty in this. I wouldn't have expected to like this from the notes at all - super classy, feels elegant, minimalistic, vaguely quiet-luxury-European. Green, herbal, nutty, woody. Bang in the middle unisex.

Surprisingly, it's actually not bad. The accord is woody, citrus, and aromatic. To my nose, it goes from citrus to aromatic, and then to woody — though the woody feel is barely there. The longevity and projection are really poor though.

Expectation was a crisp Mediterranean breeze wafting through citrus groves, brushing against driftwood but reality was a scent that smells like the towel section of a luxury gym. Opening Thoughts: "Pretty but no oomph factor" Mid: The myrrh/sage combo could’ve added intrigue, but it remains very faint. Dry-down: More floral than expected but still sadly just a whisper. Longevity: You could nap in it. It’ll still be faintly there but not making any bold moves. Projection: Soft. Would be a good a bathroom candle. Is it somehow retro-masculine AND generic feminine? In summary is it not original which not every frag needs to be....but it also does not perform particularly well. It's competent and pleasant... but I wanted a memorable niche seaside dream. Wouldn’t be mad if someone else wore it, but I wouldn’t ask what it was either. I'm bummed I have a 5mL of this because I could have spent the money somewhere else on scent split...

#1204 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This starts off with a vaguely citrus-aquatic opening that could fit right into the Bvlgari "Aqva" line of fragrances, or O Boticario's "Quasar." As the bergamot and mandarin fade you get the camphor, patchouli and bay leaf, but the myrrh and woods are disappointingly weak. Quality and scent wise I really don't see this as an improvement over a $10 bottle of Lomani "Pour Homme" EDT, which is a bargain for $10, but this Carthusia scent is not a bargain at $90+. It won't last till lunch. For the guys, save a few bucks and get the Lacoste "L.12.12. Blanc." Better unisex option in this scent category for the same money is Les Liquides Imaginaires "Saltus." I'm not a huge fan of either, but if you're into the woody eucalyptus vibe, those two work better than this.

This smells like MFKs "Lumiere Noire Pour Homme (discontinued) but that is way better, that is a really special rose frag (and I hate rose but it uses it cleverly, very sexy professional) This is a derivative of that frag for me, so no point buying. YMMV.

This isn't bad but I have citrus scents I prefer such as Torino 21, the Orange Tree, and Good Morning. I think the bay leaf and sage don't please me in this case. Stays pretty close to skin.

There are perfumes that do not understand, but maybe this is my limit. But it looks like a fragrance without a soul, created with confused ideas. Totally unclassifiable .

Very feminine, very sweet, and quite fresh and floral. Really meant for women IMO.

I've never encountered sedum or stone crop in a perfume before, and here, it really sets Corallium apart (missing from note pyramid above). On first spray, a delightfully soft orange note, then brisk bergamot and herbs deliver a familiar aftershave accord with a balmy combination of light myrrh and musk. Next, a gentle wave of salty cedar and bay deliver a briny, warmth. This is then met with the base of stone crop which offers a note like rosey aloe vera -- very soothing, calming and therapeutic. Corallium and AdP's Mirto di Panarea both capture the beautiful herbed floral and salty spirit of sweet Mediterranean air, with Corallium being a little more delicate and bearing an easy-to-wear elegance. Carthusia offers a beautifully refreshing spa vacation in a bottle.

It's about the sea the same way Eau De Merveilles is, meaning a distant connection, somewhere between the shore and the sea, a wild beach between rocks, earth and sand maybe. Bay leaf keeps it closer to earth herb vegetation, there's a strong aromatic facet to it, too - unlike Eau des Merveilles, Corallium is not so abstractly beautiful - more like those sun-drenched outdoor Italian kitchens you see on the food tv shows, where the sea forms the background. As with Parfum d'Empire, there's always something special when a fragrance comes from a Mediterranean island, an interplay between plants and seawater, a breeze you don't usually feel on the continental beach, the strange, slightly bitter air of unrefinement, a part of nature that can never be fully domesticated.

This is an exceptional perfume in that it truly captures the essence of a Mediterranean summer breeze. It feels like you're sitting in a sun-soaked garden atop a cliff on the Amalfi coast. I tried this on a hot, sunny Sunday in Naples, along with Ligea (a sweeter, more orange-y Shalimar), and Io Capri (fig notes gone plasticky on my skin). Corralium was not the one I expected to like best. It opens very sharp and lemony, almost like Acqua di Parma, but that quickly mellows out and you can smell the warmth underneath it - the freshness of the citrus, the smooth dryness of the cedar, and I get a bit of salt in the combination of those elements. Strikingly elegant and very, very wearable. Moderately long-lasting, discreet sillage.

I love this line of perfume, I smelled them all in Liberty today and this one stood out. Maybe because of my attraction to anything coral, but definitely has that uniqueness, probably due to the bay leaf and sage, it's actually more of a citrus at first spray but has that green edge that isn't quite herbal, but conjours up some lush sea vegetation (of the less seaweedy, more citrussy, green variety.) Definitely a summer scent along with the rest of the line. ** Anyone have carthusia sample set - let's swap! I have many things to swap for it including: eldo 20x2, flroiku 10x2, Floris 5x2,and many more - check my customs. UK only! **

As gentle as a breeze. The thing is.....when you smell this you realise that a lot of your other scents smell very synthetic indeed. The spray is so fine and it almost kisses your skin with a luxurious aroma that is so clean and fresh you'll never want to wash again. Expensive? Yes but worth every penny. Not too sweet, just the right amount of woodiness and ending with the gentle mixture of light musky tones that are clean and crisp. Unisex yes, and if I smelt this on a man I would want to kiss his neck and on a women I smell pure class, someone who doesn't need to stand out but once you smell her you won't forget her.

This almost has a powdery quality on my skin, and I kept waiting for the cedar/patchouli/resin quality to emerge, but this simply did not evolve for me-- it smells on my wrist exactly as it did when I sprayed it this morning. Faint citrus hint to a mainly musky smell for me. Not quite my style, but I think it would have been if I could smell all the other accords listed here. I will try this again, but I'm probably going to gift this to another fume-head friend for them to try. Unisex, decent longevity with low sillage, close-to-the-body. This is a very clean and light scent.

I can't help but read Corallium as a girl sister perfume to the boy perfume Numero Uno. No. 1 opens with minty citrus of bergamot and eucalyptus, Corallium opens with the sweet citrus of mandarin. No. 1 segues into old-fashioned soap, Corallium segues into old-fashioned floral soap. No. 1 ends with moss, Corallium ends with milk and musk. The main difference is that Corallium has less sillage and projection, and just less intrigue overall. The soapy middle is far less annoying than in Numero Uno, but somehow I'm not inspired to buy it.

I do not own a bottle, I just let this be sprayed over my forearm in one of the lovely Carthusia shops in Capri. The openning is beautiful, feminine, I wish it would last, but it turned too masculine for me in the end, it was like 180 degree turn, so I decided not to buy it. The quality and the longevity are very good though.

There is something in here that makes my throat itch and my lungs feel funny. I wish I knew the ingredient. Otherwise, I might really enjoy this fragrance. I'm new at this so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I think it's whichever ingredient that gives it that sort of "watery" feel.

love child of yves rocher neblina and the original hermes eau de merveilles. works really well. if you miss neblina, while this is not a dupe, it *does* evoke it -- and if eau de merveilles is a bit too strident for you, this is softer. worth a try.

This is like if Chanel Cristalle and Clinique Wrappings had a citrusy baby, It's quite similar to Chanel but a bit stronger, at least in the opening. Haven't worn it enough to comment on longevity but seems pricey for a pretty standard freshy IMO

On me, this is a saltier. woodier Eau des Merveilles. I am deeply in love with EdM so I obviously adore this too. So if you want a more animalistic salty green Hermes Eau des Merveilles then check this juice out.

I had smelled that perfume in Capri but for some reason which I dont know, I chose an other Carthusia perfume (Via Camerelle). Very unique and classy. It will be my next Cartussia perfume for sure!

A peppery hot, green masculine scent of crushed leaves, but with a dusty note that smells cheap on me or like a medicated powder with herbal notes. Disappointing
