Mediterraneo

Well there isn't a separate page for the Parfum so hopefully I'll be able to address some questions regarding the concentrations. My exposure to Mediterraneo was through a sample of the EdT and eventually I purchased a bottle of the Parfum unsniffed; an unusually gutsy move for my blind-buy-hating self especially considering the price point. I've compared the EdT against the Parfum side by side now and though I'll hope you'll forgive my amateur nose I can at least attempt to give a basic description of the similarities and differences of their character. The EdT is a bit more linear than its counterpart, opening with juicy citric tones that don't scream of any one fruit. The drydown comes fast and transitions into what I consider to be a fairly sweet scent a-la Illuminum's Bergamot Blossom as the green tea comes into focus. This is a glass of green tea with lemon as others have described but with several heaping tablespoons of sugar added. It's wholly refreshing and worthy of a bottle on its own merit. Longevity is tragic in keeping with the vast majority of citrus scents. The parfum on the other hand does manage to have a bit of evolution. Upon first spray the most noticeable thing was, to me, the lack of that overt sugary sweetness. Don't get me wrong, the parfum is still sweet top-to-bottom, but next to its sibling the difference is obvious. Lemon comes through specifically in all its tart, wonderful glory, but it's still apparent that this isn't a mono-citric accord. Another major difference in the parfum is the warm, vaguely salty tone present from first spray - maybe some sort of ambergris analogue. As it dries, a more woody-herbacious tone that I didn't detect in the EdT starts to sneak in though never in enough quantity to be wholly obvious. The parfum never becomes as sweet as its counterpart though the EdT's formula is still apparent. The one thing that I feel like I need to stress is that both concentrations share terrible longevity. I bought the Parfum hoping for some extra depth, sure, but also in a bid to extend the experience. On an unlimited budget would I purchase the Parfum again? Without a moment's hesitation; it's the clear superior of the two in my opinion. Is it worth paying twice as much for? That isn't as clear. It's utterly delightful for certain but that is something you'll have to decide for yourself.

The composition of this fragrance starts with an initial blast of lemon leaf and zest, very crisp and bright followed within a few minutes by a calm, pleasant green tea accord. The lemon fades to the background, but the effect is still there. It then dries down to a quite simple green tea base, delicate and dry. Mediterraneo is the kind of fragrance that you reach for to feel refreshed and energized during a hot weather day and If you're a true citrus 🍋🍋🍋 fan like me or if you like green tea scents but find that too many of them lose their zest and spark and turn a bit "sanitary product", there is a chance you will enjoy this fragrance.😊👃🏽👍🏽 It smells natural, fresh and you quickly understand why citrus is so widely used in perfumery. This is not a complex fragrance, but a very nice one in all of it's simplicity. It is a beautiful refreshing and smiling gentleman niche summer scent at a very reasonable price. 😊 If you like fragrances like Acqua Viva by Profumum Roma, Boucheron pour Homme, Xerjoff Renaissance 1861, you will probably dig this creation.

I agree with a lot of the other reviewers: Mediterraneo is a wonderful lemon tea scent. I'm surprised tea isn't listed as a note, because that's the first thing I think of when I spray it on: Earl Grey tea! It must be the bergamot, but I'd swear there's more to it than that. Then after a few minutes the lemon comes out more, and the scent becomes sweeter, but the tea component remains very much present. At this point, it smells exactly like those lemon tea candies, or just lemon iced tea with lots of sugar; but the homemade kind, it smells very natural. It's so refreshing; perfect for summer, but I doubt whether I'll be able to stay away from it even in the colder months, it's such a burst of sunshine. I love it, but it fades so fast. The delicious ice tea phase only lasts for about half an hour, and what's left is a weak ghost of that former glory, with some more aromatic notes thrown in. I think I'll go through my little decant in no time at all! I don't know whether I have the EdT or EdP, but I'll be sure I get the EdP if I ever buy a full bottle!

This is lemon done right. Everything else have been said already - it really smells like drinking a cup of sweet Earl grey while grating the lemon zest, not too far from a small pot of mint on your kitchen board. And it is really lovely. It is not unique, it is not groundbreaking, it is not really that much different. But it is so beautifully realistic. Despite what previous reviews say - there is no Eau de Toilette of this. You can get this in two versions - "Eau de Parfum" or "Parfum". I tried Eau de Parfum and the longevity is really low and it stays close to skin. But that's kind of something to expect from natural citrus perfume. But it is beautiful and affordable and I am definitely intrigued to get FB of "Parfum". But first I have to decide, if I want it more for me or for my living room 😀. Hell yes, you can get this as a reed diffuser in a wonderfull 500ml glass bottle. And who knows - maybe I'll get both. I still have time to decide, the summer is still far away. And this is definitely high summer fragrance.

Writing a review after wearing this warm weather perfume on a cold Pacific Northwest Winter day. I bought it blind from an eBay auction at a fraction of the retail price, and I feel very fortunate because it’s GREAT. Imagine a strong citrus blast with interesting supporting notes that doesn’t fade after an hour? Extremely natural, this is the lemon-herb bomb I’ve always wanted. You get the whole meadow with this perfume, it smells like you are walking through an orchard and the fruit is so ripe it’s falling off the trees. Can not wait to spray this on a hot or humid day. Planning on taking this one on vacatation. Currently getting 3 hours of longevity before turning to a skin scent, the first 90 minutes it projects several feet. If it works in the heat, Mediterraneo will be elevated to one of my favorite citrus scents of all time. EDIT happy to report it’s been elevated to a love, one of my favorite citrus based scents. (Top 40 out of 165 plus full bottles, and hundreds of decant)

I write my reviews for my own future reference. Opens up like a squirt of fresh lemon rind. It has the smallest flinch of lemon cleaner, but it quickly dissipates. The initial dry down resolves to a refreshing lemon drop martini, not too sweet, deliciously alcoholic, and with a lemon tartness. This is surprising to me because when I tested this fragrance in the store, I got little to no lemon essence, just a soothing and refreshing citrusy canon more reflective of the fragrance's many other notes. It must have been the other fragrances swirling in the air that hid this fragrance's true note, because now home and wearing this a few more days, the other notes are hard to decipher and seem content to reside in the way, way background. I still enjoy the scent but wish it had more body, and the other notes would join the party. It's seems to linger much longer on fabric than my skin, which may just eat it up. Might be a great top layer compliment to a more base driven fragrance.

Bright, juicy lemon on first spritz, then gentles into a lovely green tea and mint, sophisticated with aromatics like thyme and eucalyptus and grounded with the lightest of white musk. This perfume is lying outside on a rope hammock in front out your Italian villa. It's a bright sunny day, and a light breeze rustles the long grasses spotted with wildflowers in the field ahead. The sky is blue. Wild thyme grows wild on the hills. You are drinking a tall, cold glass of ice tea with a wedge of lemon and a spring of mint. That's it. It's the perfect summer scent for a man or a woman who wants to smell like summertime. Aria di Capri and Io Capri have similar citrus-aromatic-outdoors-summer-in-a-bottle vibes, but have reviewed them separately. Aria leans sweeter, more feminine, and more floral. Io more aromatic with a beachy vibe. Mediterraneo is the lemon mint tea one. Wear and enjoy your summer in a bottle!

This fragrance is special. Somehow captures all that sicilian juicy, fruitiness a lemon which is not at all sharp but superbly realistic. It has the cooling effect of a summer breeze lightly spiced with cardamom and somehow a touch of those wild flowers. Green tea is a perfect companion for this light, perfect scent...reminds me of Iced tea and Lemon. I'm head over heels for Carthusia Mediteraneo just the remedy for hot weather. I've smelled a few citruses which have made me rethink this entire olfactive group recently but this one is a real achievement. The longevity is not great and it doesn't have any surprises underneath in terms of base notes and as such, is pretty linear affair. Not so good...but I still kinda wanna add it to my collection, it's that good.

This was one of my very first niche fragrances. I walked into a perfume shop in Portland Oregon and told the elegant woman behind the counter that I wanted to smell like lemons. Bright, fresh, realistic lemons. This little baby is the ticket. She's a super bright, fresh and uplifting lemon and green scent. Like walking through a grove of lemon trees on a warm summer day. You get the lemon hit and a natural beautiful greenness in the background. The mint and eucalyptus add a coolness that makes this immensely refreshing. Nothing synthetic or chemical cleaner. Longevity is meh and she stays close to the skin. But totally worth it just for the absolute heaven that this is.

Smells like an ice-cold glass of freshly squeezed lemonade. When you spray it, you're hit with a blast of sharp, zingy, juicy lemon backed by just-barely noticeable aromatics. Within like fifteen minutes, the lemon becomes less dominant and the other notes start to come out more. As other people have said, it transitions from a lemonade to an Arnold Palmer of sorts, though more like a 70/30 lemonade to iced tea ratio than 50/50. Like every other citrus fragrance, the opening is the best part. And it is amazing. Performance, on the other hand, is not. This only lasts around three hours or so.

This is the PERFECT scent for a hot, hot day. Agreed with a lot of the other commenters that it starts as the scent of a lemon being juiced, beautiful and tart, then settles into the skin with a touch of musk but I definitely get a tea note, too. It's either in there and not listed, or it's the blend of mint, eucalyptus, & thyme? I typically don't enjoy mint in fragrances and thankfully this doesn't smell minty at all! It's 100* in Virginia this summer and this scent will get me through! Like most fresh/citrus scents, it doesn't last all day, but has decent wear and happy to reapply.

It is pretty rare that I like a scent from the first sniff, but this is one of those. Just a super pretty citrus opening with a beautiful green tea note that leaves you with this insanely classy smell that is reminiscent of scents used in high-end Asian resorts and hotels. Best part about this is that not only does it smell good, but it really performs gloriously well. I got all-day performance from this with 4 sprays which makes this probably my best performing citrus fragrance. I can see why George Clooney likes it. I probably won't be without this in my wardrobe in the future.

A lovely, easy scent to wear. Opens a bit like lemon pledge but very quickly becomes a tall glass of ice tea with a fresh lemon wedge squeezed and plopped in. I can see ice cubes starting to melt diluting black tea, condensation gathering on the outside of the glass and want to take a sip! This is my SOTD and it’s working wonderfully to make the April storm outside feel a little more like spring in Cinque Terre rather than the northwest. Like others have said, it doesn’t last long. But, on the bright side, I can change to an evening perfume without having to scrub.

I think of this perfume as of a scent of nature, like a smell of freshly cut grass. It's in the air, everywhere. Mediterraneo for me it's one of the smells in Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano...It is lemon, real lemon just cut down from lemon tree scent and smashed lemon leaves scent and lemon tree full of blossoms scent combined. But I also smell the land, the wood, the sea behind this lemon tree. No sugary, sweet note. Unisex scent. Longevity is moderate for perfume version. I love it.

This was really original in my olfactory experience. It's a citrus that opens with a blast that's like the juice of the lemon rind, but then settles down a very lemony tea scent. It doesn't stay for more than an hour or so before it settles down to a skin scent, so even if it is an eau de parfum it behaves more like an eau de cologne. But the fragrance (while it lasts) is so exceptionally beautiful I can only love it, even though I'm sorry it doesn't last longer.

Wow! It starts with a fresh juicy mandarin. It is really wonderful and fresh. Someone else mentioned that it has a smell resembling tea and I notice that on the drydown. But it keeps that fresh juicy citrus. Like when you drink completely freshly squeezed orange juice and your nose smells the inside of the cup. It does have other things going on as well, but this would be a fantastic spring and summer scent. Very refreshing.

If you've ever wanted to smell like a fancy spa, this is the scent for you. Opens with a photorealistic, juicy lemon scent that then turns into something greener. I don't get cleaning product lemon from this, but I am a lemon lover so take that for what you will. This scent is soothing and relaxing to me, and it's perfect to wear on busy WFH days when I want to bring some zen back into my day.

Amazing fresh citrus fragrance... when I smell it is like a fizzy cola drink with lemon. Really refreshing. Like an up lifting crispy breeze. There's only one setback, it doesn't last more than 2 hours in my skin, and you have to re-apply But I found another solution: layering with Lalique Encre Noir Sport. Apply this first, and then on top with Mediterraneo Rock on!!!

Stunning citrus scent perfect for summer and hot days. It was a gift from a family member who traveled to Italy so it evokes Amalfi Coast, warmth, and the sea. It has a strong citrus opening (maybe too harsh for some but divine to me) and softens with wear. I absolutely love this as a special occasion scent in the heat of summer.

Loved it at first sniff. Looking for a bottle for the summer and this was a winner. The realistic smell of fresh lemon peel and the somewhat icy scent I get from this is just great! I immediately bought a full bottle after testing few sprays on my skin at Azabudai Hills (Tokyo, Japan)!

oh my this made me smile, such a nice blast of citruses! Mouthwatering, natural, fresh, not too sour and not cleaning product-y. Limes and lemons freshly cut and squeezed. Overperforms most citrus frags in terms of longevity and sillage (3 hrs on me)

Absolutely loved this one! Brings to mind the movie 'Call Me By Your Name'...I can imagine myself sitting in a lush yard in Italy underneath a looming lemon tree. It's very bright and optimistic, perfect for a summer day.

This is my go-to summer scent! It's so fresh and uplifting, with a perfect balance of citrus and herbal notes. I love the hint of mint and eucalyptus - it reminds me of being by the sea.

Ok i got this for three weeks now, it smells like lemonade so it’s definitely perfect for the summer heat, i also like the dry down. The performance isn’t the best but it’s ok.

I normally don't like citrusy perfumes but this one is an exception. It doesn't smell like a synthetic citrus scent at all! It smells like a sweet lemonade on a summer day.

This makes me feel like I'm relaxing and browsing the morning news while absentmindedly sipping a nice, lightly sweetened, perfectly pleasant lemon tea.

Love at first sniff with this one. Opens with orange and the citrus works well to balance the tea note, which is strong. My new favorite tea fragrance.

Top 10 most refreshing summer fragrances of all time.

Carthusia's Mediterraneo is a high quality citrus scent. It opens with a combination of bright lemon, bergamot, mint, eucalyptus and mandarin. About forty minutes in you get flowers in the background. An hour in and you get a gentle hint of cardamom joining the party. By an hour and twenty minutes in the mandarin has gone. An hour and a half in what you have is lemon, mint, jasmine and florals, and a hint of musk. It lasts two and a half hours in total and has an intimate sillage. For me, it suits the warmer weather and the daytime best but you could certainly have it as a bright perfume to cheer you up on cooler weather days without it seeming out of place. There is a certain link to the western Italian coastline, places like Sorrento and the island of Capri, in that brightness with green elements in the background. This is completely unisex (or genderless, if you like) and rather elegant and understated. It does remind me of the lemon trees on the island (of Capri). It feels like the perfume you should wear on a warm day, wearing a white linen shirt and a cream jacket and a Panama hat. I would recommend this very highly if you're not too concerned about the fairly short longevity. It is blended very well and it is very pleasant all the way through. However, I can't be having more bottles at the price because of the longevity. Edit: as I empty the last drops onto me I find that the longevity has increased to around four and a half, five hours! Now this puts me in a real dilemma whether to buy another bottle!

4711 in a different bottle. On first impression, it's a bright citrus that reminds me of many other bright citrus scents I've smelled in the past few years. They are quite common, save a different note here and there. I'm not overly impressed with the whole package (juice, bottle, paper label, plastic cap that yellows with age....all seems cheap to me). Mediterraneo doesn't last all that long, but we can't expect too much from a citrus-based fragrance. This is a "like" for me, but a bit overrated. Perhaps with some more wearing I'll feel this is truly better than something like Dior Homme Cologne, Jimmy Choo Man Ice, L'Occitane, etc. Hey, let's play a drinking game. Anytime someone mentions George Clooney in these comments, take a shot of your favorite spirit. Bottoms up!

This perfume is a explosion of freshness. It is if you step into a citrus garden on the mediterranean coast. This perfume is a lighter version of Io and more citric. It is so typical an Italian perfume but one of the better ones or even of the great masters hand. It is good for casual use and on summer days. Behind the citric opening a subtle mix of cardamom, mint and eucalyptus is noticeable. Its a nice perfume for casual use on warm moist days. In the end it gets musky-jasmine scent. Just a great perfume for all day use and for the price it gives a better quality than for instance that great casual Italian aquatic-citric perfume of Acqua di Gio. I bought it for € 52,-. It is one of those fresh summer perfumes that are subtle and stylish. This perfume has great class.

Carthusia mediterano captures the scent of a warm summer's day on a southern italian island as a gentle breeze winds though an alfani lemon grove caressing fresh flora, blooming wildflowers, wild herbs and exotic spices. Ripe lemon, fresh green herbs, wildflowers and hints of spice work in harmony to create an exotic, yet pleasing lemon herbal tea aroma. I love the opening yet there's love lost during the dry down when a strong tea and tomato leaf aroma gains steam; and there's my deal breaker. While not my scent, any lemon herbal tea and leafy green scent lover should seek this one out. It's an absolutely lovely, classic 'Mediterranean' scent and perfect for summer. Score 6/10 it's refreshing, unique and quite lovable. Projection, sillage, longevity are all average.

The initial opening reminds me of pledge cleaner, but thankfully that sharpness fades fairly quickly. The other notes come through, though the lemon remains the most prominent throughout wear. Besides lemon I mostly pick up on the wildflowers and eucalyptus, the mandarin fades within minutes. Mediterraneo isn’t exactly my usual taste, but it’s not unpleasant either. It’s definitely a fragrance for those who love a lemon note. I agree with the comparisons to a spa, it has a calming/meditative quality. I’ve been trying out a sample and while this would not be something I’d ever reach for daily, it does grow on me with each use. I can’t see myself wearing this is closed quarters, but it would be really lovely for hiking or any activity that happens outdoors.

I just received the Parfum version of this scent, i love the lemon bomb opening and it is really crisp and fresh and starts with a bang! i could imagine George Clooney wearing this i believe it is his signature scent, it dries down to a less interesting musk note, in terms of performance it is quite good i got 6-8hrs thats all i can ask of a citrus summer fragrance to be fair, however my only problem with this scent is the bottle design the cap is loose totally loose and the bottle feels and looks very cheap, the EDT bottle is much better, sample before purchasing its good but for 90 Euros there are better alternatives out there i will use it and enjoy it but will not buy it again. 7/10.

This has such a beautiful opening - bright, juicy lemon. The lemon is very realistic - like a lemonade or a freshly squeezed lemon - not at all like a cleaning product. Then it mellows out to a green or black tea scent. Honestly, this smells a bit like a can of Liptons Iced Tea mix. Then it softens even more and you can smell a bit of that Jasmine come out - but just a hint. This is a refreshing daytime scent - very appropriate for running errands, casual events, or at the office. The scent bubble is small - you need to get close to smell this. I'm not sure if I'll buy a full bottle - while pretty, I don't know if I want to smell sort of like iced tea with lemon.

Mediterraneo is a citrus fragrance, which smells to me like freshly made limoncello - you can even smell the freshly cut lemon rinds! I purchased this little taste of Italy whilst on holiday in Capri a couple of years ago. It reminds me of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. It's fabulous when layering, and i like to combine it with Cassili from PDM. Like many citrus scents, on its own it doesn't last long unfortunately, but that's okay because you already transported yourself back to Italy with the first application. I sometimes just crack open the bottle, close my eyes, and I'm looking out over the coastline sipping my limoncello again. Mille grazie!

Lemon lovers, take note: you may want your nose to take a gander at Mediterraneo. It has a big and pretty lemon underlined with aromatics and jasmine. After its initial fanfare, is eases into what I can best describe as a ice cold glass of tea with added lemon and mint, sipped under jasmine vines. There are moments where the lemon converges with the eucalyptus and its on the verge of functional—even cleaning—product, but this resolves further into the development as florals overlap and Mediterraneo finally mellows to a pleasant musk. It's quite nice, but not particularly unique within its genre.

The moment it is sprayed, there is a very direct burst of lemon, touched with a hint of green leaves and a light minty coolness. It has an immediately refreshing effect, almost like a quick reset for the senses. There is not much complexity to discuss. The structure is straightforward—clean and fresh from start to finish. The scent remains consistently comfortable and easy to wear, without noticeable shifts. It falls into the category of fragrances that can be used repeatedly in hot weather without becoming tiring or heavy.

Best of the 3 that I sprayed in myself today from this house. This is an aromatic citrus that I like. To some it can come off a bit synthetic with the citrus with the combination of the eucalyptus, but to me it really is a refreshing scent. This doesn’t last nearly as long as the other 2, but to me this refreshes and then heads out after doing its job. I enjoy it, and I think many around you will enjoy it as well. Would be a super solid scent if it wasn’t $100 dollars and hard to locate in the US.

This is a lovely scent, as described by others. It closely resembles Lemon Scented Pledge, but I urge readers to reclaim this scent and its associations. Mine are largely positive, as dusting wooden furniture with Pledge is perhaps the least demanding and most rewarding of household chores. For many, I'm sure, the pleasure of a lasting, sunny, lightly sweetened lemon fragrance is worth that bit of mental effort.

my gosh as soon as i spray this, i am smacked with an overwhelming smell of a lemon-scented household cleaner. it is incredibly harsh for the initial couple of minutes, & almost nauseating. I will say, during the dry down period it becomes a softer/soapier scent on me, which im happy with. the unfortunate part of the dry down is that it doesnt last very long, in fact i kept forgetting i was wearing it at all.

On paper: classic cologne: a stronger more complex 4711 (which I love) that dries into lingering citrus rather than the sharp or woody notes that masc-coded modern colognes sometimes do. Likely not strong enough for people who like modern men's colognes, but good for me. On skin, initial impression: rosemary or herbal note, citrus coming off pretty sharp, not sure about this... Capri is my favorite island, and this fragrance is everything about it. Fresh, citrus, radiant, clean and perfect for unbearingly hot summer days! IMHO parfum extrait is better and the notes are stronger and more "individual", which I like. For me, best summer scent and the citrus/fresh one aswell. And usually I don't like citrus based scents. Carthusia's masterpiece. My rating: 7/10

318 I find this an amazing lemon right off a tree. We have some in our garden. It’s a perfume version of course, but so well done. It stays around better than most citrus scents. I have the parfum version. It’s zesty, tart, bitter, and all other notes are well blended. 9/10 we’ll done, summer favorite

I have the miniature. Aromatic Citrusy sweet. I layered it with a honey flowery sweet oil based Arabic fragrance (without alcohol) and it raised it to a whole new dimension, that I love! By itself, smells like a very aromatic lavender virgin mojito, which is interesting, but only by the pool.

Tangy mix of lemon and other citruses with what smells like tea that is very refreshing. Reminds me of drinking a premium iced tea or an Arnold Palmer while playing golf in the sun. I don't even like tea in fragrance, but this is a very nice offering. Scent 7.5/10 Performance 5/10
