Via Camerelle

What a glorious fragrance this is! Such a gorgeous green herbal citrus! Astoundingly natural and fresh, rich and potent. I love it. It was love at first sniff, and I've loved it more and more ever since. It's quite unique in my experience, the way it has such radical changes during its evolution. Starting off very very citrusy/herby and very green, then suddenly changing to a soft, warm smooth soft delicate floral/amber/musk/woody wonder! It's quite ravishing! I love it!

Beautiful fresh citric scent, has something slightly green and sweet too. It is similar to Hermès's Concentré d'Orange Verte and Eau d'Orange Verte, also to Parfum d'Empire's Azemour Les Orangers (I have the first two and have tested the third), all citric-green scents. When comparing with the first two then Via Camerelle has definitely better longevity and smells fresher.

Via Camarelle by Carthusia is the perfect summer scent for those that like subtlety. I had been searching for a good citrus perfume for the season, without an expensive price tag on it. I ended up randomly going into a perfume store in Rome and found this (at first spray) !! This perfume is now going to be my memory card for the best trip I ever had.

Clean and citrus. I am back in Italy when I wear this one. Easy on the nose. Would be great for daytime.

here's a review i wrote in a discord server, just copied and pasted so i don't have to retype! carthusia, via camerelle i've only just put this on so i'll edit this post to adjust the review as time goes by 🙂 this fragrance is marketed as a women's perfume, but imo the wood and musk in it lean more toward a unisex scent - i think any gender could get away with this p easily. it opens up with a really strong, sort of sweet and sour citrus and cedar, which was kind of giving cleaning product at first, but it settled down into a very quiet and wearable scent after just a few minutes. some florals start showing up once it does, altho it's still a bit sharp for me personally. it manages to be a floral that is still very bright and open thanks to the top notes, but it does relax into more of a skin scent at about 30 minutes, so if you're looking for obnoxious projection, this isn't your fragrance. right now i'm starting to get (what i think are) some amber notes, which imo may take this from "meh" to "really good" if it plays out correctly 😅 currently, it's starting to feel a bit sweeter so that could work nicely imo since i do prefer something slightly sugary i'll keep ya posted! the update: 4-5h later and it's barely a skin scent, mostly just what lingers on my clothes (not much). it did end up staying on the sweet side, which is nice! lemony, warm, sweet- like all of the components of a lemon square without feeling gourmand lol. overall i wouldn't really wear it out, just because i like something with a bit more power when i do. it does make a nice evening scent though, something soft to wear to bed or while reading a book 😌

I’m so surprised that people find this scent light or fleeting! On me it lasts FOREVER. I got it for my mom after a trip to Capri and a visit to Carthusia. This was back when I was a teen, before I’d started getting into perfumes. I wanted to get her a scent as a commemorative gift a year or so after the fact, and chose Via Camerelle based on notes. Truthfully, they were probably more my taste than hers, and continue to be. I love fresh spicy scents! I sneak spritzes of this sometimes, but it isn’t really sneaky since the scent is so recognizable and fragrant. This perfume is citrusy and woodsy and spicy. Opening is quite woodsy and sharp but that fades within a few minutes. I’m not all too familiar with marjoram and cyclamen, so I can’t speak for how those come through. I think it could easily be unisex; the initial spray is pretty masculine but as it settles it becomes more feminine. A unique, non-screechy citrus with great longevity and in my opinion the ability to go beyond just a spring-summer scent. I can see how some wouldn’t like this scent, as it is a little bit of an unconventional citrus. If you’re looking for pure lemon, there are plenty of other Italian scents that do it and do it well. This is a fun diversion from the norm. Reminds me of a lemony, tart, ice cold glass of gin.

After falling in love with Mediterraneo I was keen to try this other citrus-centered offering from Carthusia, and I wasn't disappointed: Via Camerelle is another very natural, very natural and very high quality citrus scent. This one is a bit farther outside of my comfort zone, as I usually like my citrus scents bright and simple and often a bit sweet, and this is no such thing: it's very green, smelling very herbal or even vegetable-like, and not sweet at all, at first it's the tiniest bit aquatic and then later on it becomes almost bitter. It's a bit startling at first, and I started out not being sure what to make of it, but the more I wear it the more I like it for this originality. I keep discovering different aspects of it, and the scent keeps growing on me. At this rate I'll love it by the time I finish my small decant! By the way, like others have mentioned, I think this is perfectly unisex, maybe even slightly more masculine than feminine, so I was surprised by the "for women".

A fantastic citrus aromatic, very refreshing, green and herbal. Marjoram plays a significant role in this on my skin and the outcome is very delightful. Even though this is a citrus aromatic it is also very sweet and feminine, this might suit a hot summer day on a well dressed lady pretty nicely. From the fruits orange is the most noticeable, although I do get loads of lemon in the background making this a bit sour (only in the best way). I do get a bits of flower in the background also, on me jasmine is what's most recognizable. A great summer scent, worth a try, very high quality, very natural smelling citruses (and that is something as usually citrus does smell synthetic on me). Try this out on your search for that perfect beach scent.

It is May 7, and today here in SW Pennsylvania is has gone up to 80 degrees! Unusually warm for us at this time of year. I'm congratulating myself on picking Via Camerelle as my SOTD. Perfect! This is a sparkling semi-sweet citrus, herbal and refreshing. If it ends up being a hot Summer, this is going to be my go-to fragrance. I sense a bit of Dior Eau Sauvage, 4711 and Jean Nate (yes, Jean Nate) in this lovely scent. This would be fantastic if stored in the 'fridge and freely sprayed on ones' self when coming inside from the heat. Even if you don't like citrus, try this. It's unique, and just spectacular for warm weather.

orange leaf scent, but also carries some lemon and a bit of soapy feel — my first impression honestly really reminds me of dish soap, haha. The lime note gradually replaces the lemon, and to me, it's probably the one that brings down the overall score the most. I don’t get it — I’m okay with lime in food, but I just can’t seem to like it in perfume at all.

such a blast of freshly grated lemon zest! very pleasant and natural together with marjoram. After ten minutes the cyclamen and ninfea come out on a bed of musk. nice and comforting! Subtle in spring, need to wait for hot summer to see how it changes

Love the smell. Citrus but not sour, green but not bitter, soft and beautiful. Fresh and bright enough to match any sunny day. Too shame she's gone too soon and too pricey to reapply 3 times a day.

A nice citrus opening with soft herbals, but quite watery and extremely short-lived.

A fresh and green citrus perfume, 100% unisex, nice for summer with the lemon, bergamot, marjoram and cedar notes. I smell a natural scent (not synthetic). The longevity and the sillage are not so good, it is more a cologne than a perfume (with my skin). You can wear it for office without any problem... 5/10 due to the longevity and the sillage.

Smell of sunny citruses, bitter herbst and salty amber - interesting, but the staying power doesn't impress :( Three, maybe four hours, that's all.

Via Camerelle is interesting in the sense that it's a citrus scent which leans more towards a bitter and green side. I find this scent very unisex and I think it's great for Summer, particularly when on a vacation. This perfume is rather distinctive and in some ways, herbaceous. The herbs and citrus thankfully blend well, creating a very unique and pleasing scent. It's quite concentrated with an odd dampness which dominates in the heart and the drydown. Although bitter scents aren't really my cup of tea, I enjoy smelling Via Camerelle, probably more so on a tester card or someone else's skin other than my own. The drydown was actually quite salty to my nose, it also reminded me of the scent of dry cat food. I must add that I like both of these smells, so it wasn't as repulsive as the description makes it appear to be. Via Camerelle is not my favourite from Carthusia as I like their much sweeter, more feminine offerings, however there is nothing unpleasant about this little gem. In all honesty, this is the most unique from the six I've tried.

"you smell so good mama. what are you wearing? it's something clean and light and fresh. what are you wearing, or is that just you?" not you specifically, but i was hoping you're say that, and i am happy so happy that it was you specifically who said that. said "wow.", under my breath, but clearly audibly at my first sip. "i know.", he said under his breath, back facing me, under his breath, but intentionally audibly. like silk was made into fresh spring water, i didn't even know it could be that good. i love when people are good at their jobs. don't ask me what it cost. top notes of indulgence and flowery descriptions draw you in.

It starts rather sour citrusy. Tonnes of lemon, bergamot and what have you. Some may find it too sharp for starters. Please give it some time to settle down. And it moves from a fresh aromatic scent to skin scent, towards herbs and delicate notes of amber. I enjoy its bitterness at the beginning and how it transforms to pleasant, more feminine soft, warm and sunny base. Definetely a unisex, a grown up scent. Give it a try.

Tested out the EDT. This is a beautiful citrus/floral aromatic. The opening has a lovely spicy citrus opening which is fleeting. The soft floral middle notes open delicately to bridge the citrus notes with the warm woodsy musk finish. This is a scent that stays close to the skin and would be perfect for a nice spring/summer day or in an office setting. Update: Added to collection December 2010

Via Camerelle is light, fresh, refreshing and pretty. However, it is extremely light wearing, maybe like a body mist, like others have mentioned. It's nice enough, but I would not buy a full bottle. It does have a similar vibe to Liis Ethereal Wave. I much prefer Ethereal Wave, as I like tea notes and dislike white florals, and EW has better longevity and projection imo.

Lovely blast of citrus/herbal notes at the start, then evolving into a completely different scent. After just, say 15 or 20 minutes, all the citrus is gone and you have an intriguing, floral/light amber scent. Very delicate and soft, but somehow unisex. I just adore this scent, but find myself wanting to reapply after a couple hours. I'll go through my bottle fast.

Love this fresh citrusy scent for a crisp spring day. It's not spicy or in your face, the amber and musk soften it. Agree that it doesn't last more then a couple hours, sadly.

I don't undertand why this fragrance is feminine, for me smells like a man's aftershave, is very pleasant and green, but I gave it to my husband and he loves it.
