Now I’m gonna tell you about my Unbeatable Top 1 Signature Scent of all time. That is Carat EDP by Cartier. It was launched in September 2018, and I owned it since then. My love story with this fragrance was that it was not a love at first sniff but a love at first shift. The very first spray of Carat in my life, I was mehhh, I thought it was too soft and too green, it was like I sprayed nothing. However, after about 10mn, I seriously felt like “oh no! I’m sorry baby, I wronged you, please forgive me. You’re the love of my life. Would you marry me? I will never go off your hand, and we gonna live happily ever after.” The smell is just amazing, it’s a spring in the bottle. It develops so well after spraying, no longer green, it’s like a plant full of leaves starting to produce flower buds then blooming larger and larger until there’s no more leaves and left with full of flowers, and it projects so well. It’s a very smooth and well balanced blend of citrus and sweetness, it also contains a hint of warm and cozy yet very fresh and clean. The most special part is that it gives off a very shiny feeling, it’s like there’s something bling bling around you, it’s like diamonds under sunshine. Despite being fresh, the longevity is great, I can still smell it from morning till late afternoon. I may own more than 40 fragrances, and they are competing with each other for my attention, but this one is in different league, it has no enemy and it stays on top of the throne.

Smells like a fresh bouquet of flowers. It's a feminine, formal fragrance. I found this in a perfume shop while looking for something else and the moment I smelt it, something in me calmed down. It reminded me of the childhood where I ran to the garden to play every morning, the combined smell of beautiful flowers and grass; it also reminded me of the beautiful parks I have sat in to decompress from a day's stress. Such a happy and peaceful memory to be reminded of! This smell is very unique, the florals are fresh, unlike the concentrated floral scents in other perfumes. The flowers show up one after the other when you move around. They smell like actual flowers still on the stem of their plants, unlike other floral perfumes which are obviously flowery, this is a very intelligent blend of what nature smells like at its prettiest. For a person with sensitive skin and allergies, I have found this to be hypo-allergenic. I can smell the flowers on me when I was my face the next morning, although the sillage fades in a few hours. It causes smell numbing very fast and the one wearing it can barely understand how powerful this fragrance is. 2-4 sprays are enough to last a day. One may want to top up with 1-2 sprays to bring back the top notes again after 6-8 hours.

Carat is, fittingly, a bright, sparkling green floral. Its radiance is achieved without aldehydes, which is impressive. It is a light, fresh floral bouquet infused with fruity sweetness and with a dewy green undertone. Carat opens with a fresh green accord, dewy and sap-like. Realistic, juicy pear adds aquatic fruity sweetness. Sheer and refreshing, it forms the perfect backdrop for the floral accord that follows. A heady hyacinth note leads the way, a flower that really says springtime to me. Grassy narcissus follows, and clean white florals round it out. The lily note is a lovely inclusion here, light but realistic. The greenness adds a stem-like effect. As it develops further, the white florals become honeyed, giving a pollen-like effect. Powdery, shimmering mimosa enhances the effect beautifully here. It fades to a sweet, musky skin scent with the florals remaining until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A sophisticated springtime scent, this is fresh, floral femininity at its best. Elegant and beautifully crafted, this is an excellent everyday scent for warm weather. Another gem by the inimitable Mathilde Laurent. 4/5.

I always have a thing for cartier perfumes for the beautiful bottles... they are not fancy, but timelessly classy, elegant. However I tested a couple of them and they all have an old lady feel... maybe my nose doesn’t agree with the woody notes. This newly launch perfumes makes me go to the cartier boutique to have a try. Unlike duty free or department store, the cartier boutique services is always excellent. I m trying the carat perfume n they make me feel I m trying a carat of diamond ☺️ My judgement maybe affected by the whole environment but I do like this perfume at first sniff. My husband likes it too. It’s a boutique of flowers, wit a hint of sweetness. The right amount of sweetness against the sea of syrup perfumes in recent years. It doesn’t have the old lady feel issue like other cartier perfume. This one is like a young woman in pastel color maxi dress holding a bouquet, romantic n fairy like. It reminds me of a less fruity n more floral jo malone blue bell. I do agree with other reviewers that it belongs to spring. I still but it right away. Can’t stand missing this beautiful bottle n beautiful scent.

I think I must have sampled Carat three times before finally settling on getting a bottle of it. Upon testing it in the store, the longevity just didn't seem promising, but I kept going back to it, thinking about how lovely it smelled. With that said, this is one of the prettiest florals I have found in quite awhile - even the lily, a note that doesn't often compliment me, is beautifully blended with the other floral notes. The green-ness provides an added sparkle and it eventually dries down to a very light and sweet powder. I find this fragrance so girly and ethereal (as though she's the fun little sister among the more powerful Cartier florals). It's sparkling, fresh, and an overall happy fragrance - one that makes me think of an early Spring morning as the sunshine hits the crisp and dewy blooms. As for longevity, it's the only thing Carat could improve on, but with the decent projection and the 2-3 hours longevity, I really don't mind respraying this more; it's truly that beautiful.

I received a sample of this fragrance and when I first smelled it I thought it was a basic white floral. However, the fragrance really grows as it is a cold, green and fresh fragrance. I love the smell of hyacinth and this is a green hyacinth that isn't too overwhelming. I agree with other reviews that say this fragrance smells like frozen/refrigerated flowers and I find it absolutely lovely. This fragrance does not smell 'mature' or 'old' to me. I am a 29-year-old female and find it really fresh and youthful. I do own other floral fragrances that are a bit mature than this. It should be noted that I love floral, white floral and musky scents. I avoid woody scents so this is right up my street. There is something so clean and fresh about this so if that sounds up your street I'd recommend it. Because this fragrance has such a specific scent I would really only recommend it for Spring/Summer and daytime wear and for these 'times' it is perfect!

LOL, my wife picked this up for me as a Christmas stocking stuffer at a rack store discount bin. She had no idea what it smelled like or that it's designated as a "feminine" fragrance. It came packaged as a 15 ml roll on. I don't really pay much attention to the male / female labels on fragrances. If I like it, I'll wear it. So being clueless about it myself I slapped it on. It smells great but too floral / sweet for my taste. So I gifted it right back to her and she loves it. With that stuff said, this is a very inoffensive fresh scent with moderate performance that should be very "safe" just about anywhere or any time of day. And that's exactly what my wife likes. It's very floral. I didn't get much of the Bergamot, Pear, or Green notes up top. But it smells really nice. It's a keeper, but for her, not me.

Those early days of spring, when it is still cold outside, maybe even some traces of snow here and there, yet it is very sunny and you can see the early spring flowers peeking through. Crystal, cold, clean and bright. This perfume is strikingly similar to La Tulipe from Byredo, which is the most realistic tulip scent encaptured in a bottle. I sprayed Carat on one hand and LaTulipe on the other, and it was maybe 90% similar. The subtle differrence is that I can definitely also smell a prominent hyacinth note and a white (non sweet, but rather green smelling) lily in Carat. In fact, I much prefer the lily note here than in Baiser Vole. It is way more realistic in here. Very elegant and sophisticated. It appears to be a borderline vintage kind of a scent amongst endless patchouli/fruitchouli or tuberose bombs.

I have an interesting story about this one. I was in Nordstrom yesterday, and finally got to sample Cartier Carat. Well, immediately I knew it reminded me of something I had smelled before, but knew inside that it was a perfume from a while ago. The sales associate sprayed it on my inner arm for me. After a minute or so, I mentioned to the sales associate that it reminded of a lighter version of Liz Claiborne from the 80's. The sales associate didn't seem too happy about my revelation. She chimed in that maybe they did smell alike, but the Cartier was of much higher quality. Interesting, huh? Anyway, I did enjoy Carat. I do really like it, because it is very different from current day perfume offerings. What I did notice, is that it had a bit of a retro smell, which is really up my alley.

I was scared of green note because sometimes they are bit masculine on me, but this perfume is very feminine and soft. It’s sort of creamy soft green note with very soft semisweet bergamot and prominent mimosa (I’m surprised that mimosa is in the base, I can smell her whole time) I think pear helps smooth down whole opening. Hyacinth and mimosa are start of the show, dry down is beautiful too, very soft honeysuckle with ylang ( I don’t get any violet, which is good, but maybe it’s just masked by ylang)). It is easy to recognize majority of notes, but it is still very rounded and well blended, beautifully crafted. Reminds me of 90s fresh/flower perfumes.

This, like the name, smells RICH. This smells classy and like money. First sprayed it, you get the coldness and the sharpness which reminds me of a metallic flower and over time, it transforms and becomes more soapy as it dries down. Longevity is pretty good, it starts off sharp and quite metallic within the first 2 hrs and then dries down soapy after 6 hrs or so and lingers. In the winter time, it's more sharp and in the summer, you can smell the sweeter floral notes more. The name is very fitting, and the bottle is absolutely stunning. Cartier knocked it out of the park with this one and I find it pretty unique in the scent.

Carat is a very fresh Spring green floral scent. It feels as if I rolled down a dewy grassy hill on an early Spring morning and landed in a bed of wild flowers. A hint of green mint gives Carat a cool feeling. The flowers seem to be blended in equal amounts so it's hard to pick out individual floral scents. I can detect hyacinth sweetening the cool green grass. Powdery mimosa floats like a smooth silk ribbon spinning in the air above my head. Naturally sweet, shimmery, uplifting and beautiful, Carat is strong, lasting easily on my skin for 10 hours with consistently moderate projection. I love it !

This is very beautiful, unique and feminine. Signature worth it. -in beginning I was scared because it was green and bitter, exactly what I do not like -after around 10 min, it turned into a very pleasant and calming tulip scent. It turned creamy, a little sweet and very floral and very feminine. -The dry down reminds me of my favourite soaps Camay that a I can not find them anywhere anymore -this parfum has something in it that I can’t explain my self, but really makes me think at diamonds too -after I’m done with my “no buy parfum period “ I’m going to buy this. Memorable femini scent!

Very pretty scent. It smells like an old-money woman in her mid-twenties at a gala. Her hair is in an updo and she's wearing a black silk Paco Rabanne dress accessorized with lots of diamonds. She smells fresh, clean, and wealthy. There's a confident ease about her. It's admittedly a cooler scent and I tend to prefer warm scents but I still like this one. The lasting power is phenomenal. It literally lasts 48 hours on me. I am not exaggerating in the slightest. Stellar performance. Can be worn all year round, in my opinion.

Blind buy, just because I like to explore Cartier fragrances, 30 ml bottle from Cartier website US. It's an airy, delightful, joyful and pleasant floral, for me without any seasonal restrictions. . Easy to wear with moderate sillage and longevity. It isn't a love but a definite like. The notes ( 7 florals) are blended expertly by Mathilde Laurent to create a bright feminine fragrance. Edit: I've been wearing this lovely for 3 days in a row and it's a huge love for me now. It's an uplifting fragrance and makes me very happy.

Totally lovable and adorable spring fragrance, where I was able to discover the best sweet-freshly-cut narcisses along with crispy-stemed early spring tulips. Touch of nectarous honeysuckle, fruity tone of ylang-ylang, - overall it is heady-dewy, spring-signature worthy juice. Lasting power and projection are superb, really, really pleased to be able to find out about this beauty! Carat has that uniqueness and romanticism that I was looking for! The breeze of the fresh wind from the flower fields!

i have to be honest, the projection is weak. longevity on cloth is 5-6 hours. but the smell is very pretty and luxurious. i would suggest this to everyone who wants comforting scent to be worn at home. you can definitely smell the lily being combined with pear sweetness. the smell is like a delicate and fragile glass, but it continues to shine like a diamond. 10/10 for the smell. 3/10 for projection. however if people smell you, they will surely compliment you and think it is an expensive perfume.

The scent is like winter sun faces all the cold flowers. It's for someone who adore clean perfumes. It's a very sophisticated, romantic, clean, slightly musky perfume. The hyacinth and violet are quite modern here because of the combination with the musk and I love it. If it was a girl, she was an innocent, pure, effortlessly beautiful girl. If it were colors, it would be colors of aurora dancing swiftly in the sky. If it was a stone, definitely a diamond

After going through a couple samples of this perfume and deciding I enjoyed this very much, I ordered I full bottle and sent one to my BFF for her birthday. Carat is not groundbreaking, she is simply a sparkling, very fresh, slightly clean musky symphonic floral beauty that works very well in warm weather, is safe to wear just about anywhere, will not offend sensitive noses and seems to garner many compliments.

I really enjoy wearing this scent. Although not hall of fame worthy, this gem is a dumb reach for me. Smells like the month of May. Although filled with early spring flowers, Carat has a warmth that I associate with a late spring or early summer. I mostly smell the hyacinth and the pear with a bit of a green-wet background. Strong and long lasting enough to be a good everyday fume!

The opening reminds me of every white floral ever, but give it 30 minutes...and WOW, what a beautiful scent! Smooth, pretty, clean and expensive smelling! Like a classy lady on a spring morning. Just lovely! The reviewer below me is absolutely correct...it's bright, fresh, floral, white and clean. Perfection!

This perfume was a blind buy based of the reviews here and i’m so glad i did, it smells amazing, clean and herbal, it reminds me of old green wella conditioner i used to use back in the day, smells so similar to it if you know what i’m talking about. Bottle looks amazing too, it definitely worth a try.

This is stunning - I anticipated a clash of floral notes, but to my joy and delight this is doing wonderful things on my skin; ladylike lily contrasts with fresh hyacinth, violet and ylang ylang. I'm in heaven! This is a must try to see how it develops on your skin ( not a blind buy).

Such a beautiful scent. Unique bottle and topper. The scent is so fresh and clean. I love how it is sharp yet clean. The way it is green and fresh but has a bit of a starchy flowery powder to it. Just really well done. This one I could wear day night summer spring fall.

I love it because it reminds me of Nivea cream from the blue tin. It’s not a dupe, it doesn’t smell like Nivea’s Eau de toilette, but it has the same comforting clean floral vibe. The hair mist is a delight! I feel very classy and it is definitely work safe.

Such a buoyant, happy, pure and positive scent. Smells like a clean conscience. Evokes a sense of relaxed calm, poise and innocence. Basically a dewy soft green scent with a watercolour swirl of abstract florals supporting, on a starchy metallic base.

A gorgeous icy crisp spring floral . Very linear , lasts on me about five hours . I think of a florists chiller room full of hyacinths and Lilly of the valley , not just the flowers but the greenery as well . Perfect for a warm spring day . Love it

For me, it is a gem, a little masterpiece of grace and elegance, a refined scent based on hyacinth and lily. Awesome as regards both dosage of notes and intimate (as well as sublime) projection. Magnifique.

I picked this one up after a long break. It seemed a fitting choice on this Spring-like day. I mostly get green stems and white florals with a heaping dose of mimosa. Very fresh!

It is a delicate honey spicy flower fragrance. Very natural and refined. It lasts and lasts on me, and varies the solo flower in the orchestra day by day. I am glad to find it.

Very pretty! As true a hyacinth as I've found in fragrance. I don't find this 'cold at all. Quite beautiful and lasted well for 3 hours before becoming a skin scent.

Very delicate, elegant, simple, fresh. Subtly sweet. Medium-lasting. Bliss gel is the enhanced pleasure of showering in summer.

The opening of Cartier Carat is surprisingly powerful, with a pungent green sappy aroma reminiscent of hyacinth, but not as quite realistically vegetal and somehow shimmering with a metallic sheen of aldehyde, and even mixed with a hit of that cyanide astringency of bitter almond, like an alien plant gilded in silver metal oozing neon green poison. Carat takes on a more innocent persona with time, when the initial futuristic green aldehyde aspect dissipates to reveal a pristine, dewy, clean abstract musky floral. I'm unable to identify any specific flower in the note list, but the whole effect reminds me mostly of freesia, adorned with tiny sparkles of mineral and aquatic nuances. The fragrance then remains more or less the same afterwards, only turning more musky and abstract with time until the end. The sillage of Carat is relatively soft, while the longevity is around 8 hours on me. Although I'm unable to envision all the rainbow colours implied in press release, Carat indeed evokes sparkling diamonds quite well, from the clean, bright, crystalline musky floral to the mineral/metallic accents. The confident, vigorous green aldehydic opening also leaves a strong impression before the perfume falls back to a more familiar, versatile, modern clean musky floral. If you enjoy this type of fragrance in general but would like something with a stronger personality, Carat is worth considering in my opinion.

This perfume is definitely likeable, but it's not a love for me personally. I like the honeyed smell of the mimosa and the sweet and honeyed white floral smell you get from the honeysuckle from time to time, but I wasn't mad on the pronounced pear note or the spicy tulip note. Also I love violet as a note, but I don't think it fits well in this perfume. The heady narcissus, waxy lily, green hyacinth and sweet ylang ylang notes are lovely though! I think the composition would have been better if it were arranged as such, without the notes I said didn't work in this. I feel like this fragrance would be good for during the day for either spring or summer but I don't think it would work for night time. It would be too light a fragrance for that. It's a very feminine perfume though and it definitely smells pleasant and pretty to the nose. I just think that it's a bit too much of a mishmash of different things. I got moderate sillage from this perfume on my skin and a longevity of 6 hours on me, so it's not a weak perfume for sure. I certainly wouldn't call it a powerhouse though. Altogether I'd give this fragrance a 7/10 and I don't think I'd buy it for myself personally. I think that my mom might love it though! I might get it for her for Christmas this year.

This smells completely different depending on where I spray it. The bright floral aspects come out more quickly on my wrists while the pear and musk are more prominent on chest. Carat develops quickly in a pattern that reminds me of citric perfumes, and I sense way more bergamot in this than the votes on right are reflecting. Two things; 1. I really like the floral notes - I especially LOVE mimosa as a basenote, joined by the tulip and daffodil notes which I love - and bergamot - so fresh! And 2. that pear-musk drags down the light floral feeling by injecting a yucky victorias secret vibe (unless that's your thing, and then why pay more for Cartier?). At first blush the pear is so realistic but on dry down it's lingering and SO synthetic... unfortunately that's combining with the bergamot peel vibe in unfortunate ways on my skin! Still this is nice, it's like I can imagine where the perfumer was going and it could have been just marvelous. Now I'm off to search for a tulip, daffodil, mimosa, iris perfume inspired by this!

This smells very expensive, but in a very carefully formulated and widely appealing way, in a similar vein to Coco Mademoiselle. I don't think I'd ever turn heads wearing it. But it definitely does smell rich and sophisticated. It has a similar "dewy"/herbal-fresh feel that Chloe EDP has, so if you like one, you'll definitely like the other. I absolutely agree with the lotion comparison that others have been giving. There is a powdery, soapy feeling to it that makes it smell like body lotion. Like a more expensive smelling version of something you'd get from Bath and Body Works. Also one of the most beautiful flacons I have ever seen that makes me want to keep my mini just to use it up and reuse the bottle. For my aesthetic, it's just too preppy and well-manicured, but I can't stop sniffing my wrist anyway. A great choice for a designer floral-fruity-musk that won't make you smell like everyone else.

I’m a fan of the perfumer and have several in my collection that are favorites. Here again, Mathilde Laurent has created a smooth, very natural representation: this time it’s a spring garden in full bloom. Hyacinth is in front for about ten minutes but then lily takes over. It’s the same lily that’s in Baiser Vole. Mimosa and violet come in and join the party. It’s possible that I’m smelling honeysuckle but I’m not sure. Tulips and daffs are more waxy feeling than scented, and that is what they smell like here: creamy wax. Musk helps take this scent into the drydown, this stage lasts about an hour. There’s nothing weird or out of place in the composition, but there’s also no little surprise. I still love it but wish for that one unexpected note that would make Carat unique. I may not call this a masterpiece but I would wear it. Hand clapping and a hat tip to Mathilde Laurent.

The first time I got a tester and smelled this I was just WOWED! I couldn't believe what I had smelled. I think I have never smelled a fragrance that wowed me so much! I started watching YouTube videos and I was quite surprised: why is nobody talking about this fragrance? It is a BEAST! It even performs like a beast!! out of all my fragrances (and I have a huge collection) this is my longest wearing fragrance I own! Huge longevity and huge sillage!! But... I have outworn this. I wore this for a week straight but after I had had enough of it. too bad because the performance is amazing. I also didn't get any compliments while wearing this (usually I get a lot of compliments from the people around me whenever I wear a new fragrance). This also smells a lot like pear!! But the floral notes with the pear are blended like a pro. Definitely try this out!!

Carat by Cartier is a good early spring time floral scent with green and powdery nuances, some fruits, some citrus and a clean, musky base. In my opinion it’s illustrating beautifully the blue hyacinth note. It has besides hyacinth a rainbow of different coloured flowers like: lilies, mimosas, violets, tulips, honeysuckle, narcissus and ylang ylang. The violet and mimosa create an intoxicating, honeyed, powdery scent that’s contrasted highly by the green elements and a crisp bergamot. It’s a subtle, intriguing, distinctive smelling perfume composed mainly around spring flowers that really evoke the nature awakening after a long, dreadful winter season. Longevity and sillage are on a moderate scale, but it is quite to be expected from this scent profile. Would love to own a bottle, looks really stunning, apparently inspired by diamonds.

A very sweet, cold floral. I like it. At first I was reminded of Pleasures, how crisp, bracing and almost chilly that fragrance can be. Carat is much less screechy and never turns soapy as Pleasures does as it dries down. On my skin the two notes that stand out are pear and lily. I think of it as a much simpler, sweeter, aldehyde-free version of La Vierge de Fer by Serge Lutens. Very different perfumes but both play with pear and lily. In the case of Carat, I wish there was something to balance out the syrupy pears. Overall, it’s really pretty. While it’s not my usual style of floral I can see myself reaching for this often especially in summer. Longevity is surprisingly good for such a light, bright scent. I can still smell it on my skin (faint but still present) 16 hours after application. I’m impressed.

April 2019: What a perfect fragrance for Easter when the weather is pleasant. In SoCal, where the temps can fluctuate by 10 degrees or more in one day, this performs wonderfully; in direct sunlight or shade. It's light, fresh, and crisp, but lasts, which is a feat in itself. So "over" the gourmand trend we have experienced in the last 2 decades. BRING ON THE FLOWERS!!!! Lots and lots of flowers!!! Carat brings them and in a very elegant way. It's not at an outrageous price point that you can't wear this one regularly and then go get another bottle. Carat can be worn in the office, church, brunch, etc. I'm wearing it now and have no plans to go anywhere. I just want to smell good at home. It can be worn by young or mature. Very feminine (imo). Pleased to add it to my collection.

If it weren't for personal circumstances, I would absolutely adore Carat. It's a cool, refreshing bouquet that is perfect if you're looking for an inoffensive, crowd-pleasing true floral. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the bouquets of flowers that were put around my grandfather's retirement home, so that memory precluded me from purchasing a full bottle. This is not to say that this smells like a retirement home in any capacity. It just happened to bear a resemblance to that of my grandfather. It lasted relatively well on my skin, ~6 hours or so. Overall, if you're looking for a floral that doesn't have any other overarching accords, Carat is a good option. For those looking for more depth, however, you could find better florals elsewhere.

14. September 2018 Stunning! Gorgeous! Beautiful!!! The bottle is amazing and it represents the scent very truly. At first there is a blast of lily and violet but later i smell a more dominant tulip note. Heliotrope is here as well in a very gentle way presented. Its all just so beautifully blended together im just speechless. Only con for me is a lower sillage than i would want to. Now in september its probably not the right time for this fragrance but this would be amazing for spring. Cant wait to get my hands on this beauty. Im getting more and more love for Mathilde Laurent compositions. They are all so perfectly blended. This carat is like a sheer silky veil. Yes from me! Release the voting already!!!!

Carat is to me a very straightforward floral, a quiet whisper of a fragrance, very prim and well-mannered but not a vintage type of scent or too mature for younger people. There's not one particular floral note that stands out to me, instead it's an overall idea of a flower garden on a cool summer morning when everything is still wet with dew. This lacks the warmth that most of my favorite florals have, but that's not a bad thing, a little bit cooler is nice sometimes. It doesn't last more than a couple of hours on my skin, but is a pleasant choice when looking for a quiet perfume that won't offend people that don't like perfume, if that is at all possible.

Came in a Macy's sampler and as mass market as it gets. Green, floral, light and inoffensive. I can see what the frag heads are complaining about (there's no depth, mystery, or particular interest to it) but IMHO it was designed to extend the Cartier brand, not for frag heads, and it's likely inoffensive or appealing to someone who isn't into perfume. I can't see buying it, but I'll use up the sample. Linear, stays close to the body, fades substantially in ten minutes but lasts a few hours. The rainbow of florals story from the manufacturer is trying way to hard to tie in to the diamond buyers market; it's a well blended floral bouquet and that's about it.
