Declaration d'Un Soir Intense

When perfumer Mathilde Laurent created the 2012 version, she risked a lot by using the rose as a central ingredient, changing the olfactory signature of the line, always worked on notes of cardamom, coriander, caraway, and vetiver. But the risk paid off and brought public recognition, making Déclaration D’Un Soir a huge success and keeping it up for sale until today. Déclaration D'Un Soir Intense did not come to follow the spicy style of the line, but to present an even more dense, creamy and sweet variation of the fragrance of 2012. If many already thought this last one was unisex, then the Intense version came to add yet more wood on the fire. With notes of black and red pepper on the head; Rose and nutmeg in the heart; Sandalwood and musk in the base, the fragrance of Déclaration D’Un Soir Intense reaches the skin in a sweeter and more floral way because there is no longer the aromatic green of caraway, nor the spice of cardamom. Then, in a few moments, the rose and nutmeg heart brings the same fragrance as before but evolves to a creamier and sensual base. Déclaration D'Un Soir Intense is an Eau de Toilette Intense of excellent projection and durability, which filled a specific gap for what I was looking for at the time I met because fragrances with the most pungent rose note only appeared in the creations within the Niche segment and usually brought a mixture with notes of saffron, leather or OUD. Here, we have rose and sandalwood in greater harmony, with a quality far superior to that found in the segment of Designer brands, although in the prestigious category. For the audience, Déclaration D’Un Soir Intense did not bring much news, since they are really very similar during much of the evolution. However, in my opinion, it did exactly what is expected of a good flanker. The result was a quick disappearance, discontinued production and the typical unicorn effect. Déclaration D’Un Soir Intense is like a distant relative of the original Déclaration: many are unaware, he lives in a more refined place, speaks several languages and only enjoys expensive things. But when he decides to pay a visit, all the relatives get together to absorb some of his glamor and savoir-faire.

I picked up a bottle of Declaration d'Un Soir a few months ago, and just got an 8ml decant of the Soir Intense this week. I'm wearing both on opposite wrists on a warm summer day. Wearing Intense alone, I could have mistaken them for the same fragrance; but smelling them on either side, I can pick up some subtle differences, which slightly widen in the dry-down. In a sentence, the original is greener, fresher, and airier, while the Intense leans slightly creamier -- almost reminiscent of pink peonies -- with more sandalwood. Both are phenomenally high-quality; the rose presents itself as natural, rich, and realistic. No soapiness nor synthetic screechiness to be found here. Both are excellent performers as well. Two sprays of either are enough to carry you all day into the evening, without the need for sniffing your wrist up close. A case can be made for owning either, depending on one's preference. While the original d'Un Soir is comparatively airy, indeed a wonderful olfactory effect, its pepper also brings a bit of fresh zing, making for a subtly livelier wear. (On the downside, this can also veer towards a headache on some days). The Intense's relative creaminess, on the other hand, proffers a smoother, better behaved scent bubble. Leaning my nose from left to right as I type, I experience an oscillating spectrum of this spectacular rose DNA, from the original's dewy and uplifting green assertiveness to the Intense's creamier, more conservative woods. Ultimately, we're really splicing hairs here. To be blunt, I'm a little disappointed with just how similar these two fragrances wore, and I don't think owning both is necessary by a long shot. Then again, one really can't have too much Cartier Declaration in life.

Wow, this is a great fragrance! I hate, HATE rose scents, especially worn by me, but this fragrance is fantastic! It actually has a rose that I like. Why do I like this rose so much? I can't describe it. It's softer but still there, but it's rounder and a touch sweeter than normal rose scents that blast you in the face. I haven't been this "wow'd" by a fragrance in while. This caught me off guard. This is the first Cartier fragrance I have ever smelled, and what a stunner. Makes me excited for the rest of the house. Update: Just received the last bottle I could find on the internet. Man, this stuff is hard to find lol. Anyway, gorgeous bottle! It looks so amazing sitting in my collection. I am fortunate to have this fragrance for the rest of my life :)

The rose is not as prominent for me but the pink peppercorns are and OH MY, what a revelation. I wanted to wax poetic about this but I can't compete with where the scent transports me to. I find it equally at home during the day as at night and while it does come off a bit formal, the pink peppercorn and woods give me a tiki-bar vibe that is not at all retro or old fashioned. Average longevity and projection for my skin and usually gets a compliment if within the first few hours after spraying. Reminds me a lot of YSL nuit l'homme but with way less cardamom and very peppercorn heavy. I would almost classify this as a fougere with hints of gourmand. Scent 9/10 Projection 6/10 Longevity 7/10 Sillage 6/10

I find Declaration D'Un Soir Intense to be a very nice and refined fragrance. To my nose it smells the same as the original D'Un Soir, only this one is a bit stronger. I smell the rose throughout the day plus a bit of pepper and sandalwood in the dry down. I also smell some patchouli in here somewhere. It lasts a very long time on me 6-7 hours. I rarely wear it to work BUT today I was in a rose fragrance mood and I wore it. I already got 3 compliments and have been asked what I was wearing.

I would call this a warm weather version of Santal Majuscule by Serge Lutens. Fresher with a musky dry down. Not nearly as dense and more floral. Also somewhat similar to Toy Boy but a more laid back with much less spiciness and lacking the juiciness from the pear. I would say that d'Un Soir Intense lies somewhere in between those two. Very nice. Easy to wear but still very interesting and classy. Effortless is the word that comes to mind. Glad to have scored a bottle.

Ce parfum peut bien figurer dans le top 5 pourquoi pas!!!! il est trop trop trop bon vraiment rien a dire sur la projection et la dureté de ce dernier, des notes de roses, santal, musk et épices sont bien présente, et il plait beaucoup aux gens, je ne peux pas le mettre sans avoir des compliments, sérieux... c'est un parfum a avoir parmi sa collection et sans hésiter en acheter 2 ou 3 en même temps il en vaut vraiment la peine

This one is so slept on it's just sad. It is has such an exotic aura about it. Reminds me of an altar of roses from the middle east or south Asia. Best smelling rose based designer fragrance for men with insane performance. You will easily get 12 hours plus with heavy projection. This one is truly a hidden gem. Unfortunately it's impossible to find anymore. Wish I had stocked up when it dropped in 2014.

Compare to the OG D'un Soir, I got zero pepper opening. Instead, creamy sandalwood is definitely amped up. I detected more floral than rose listed here. I guess it's a jasmine. Very interesting combination. Still I do prefer the pepper+cardamom combination in OG D'un Soir more than the intense.

A beautiful classy sweet/creamy rose for men (but def unisex...more than Declaration D'un Soir). It's a Fall/Winter version of the original. Heavier more floral and not as fresh and spicy. They're both amazing and owning both is not redundant imo. Great stuff. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 out of 5

This is what I expect an intense version to be. A richer, slightly warmer version of the original. The original was fantastic. This one is better. You can wear it any time.

U just need 3 x sprays to get compliment and get beast mode,lovely classic scent, mature.

I blindly purchased the original version and liked it so much that it became an instant Top 5. So naturally, I had to try the Intense. The difference? Well, this is the quintessential definition of an "Intense" variation. It smells like the dry down of the original, but it lasts longer. It's deeper, darker, more manly. It's less feminine, but also less cheery. It's more "doom and gloom" because it's missing some of the brightness due to the lowered intensity of the rose. If the original were a smiling face on a rainy day, this is just the rainy day. You can easily pick out the rose and pepper and sandlewood, but all together from a distance, this has a very fresh clean laundry smell, like warm dryer sheets. So do I like it? Absolutely! This is close to what I THOUGHT the original was going to smell like when I bought it, so of course I like it! But I personally still enjoy the original a LOT more. As for which one's right for you, I think the solution is simple: if you're outgoing and cheerful and not afraid of smelling a bit feminine, go for the original. If you're more of an introvert or if you're afraid of smelling too feminine, then the Intense version is the one for you. They're similar enough that it's maybe not worth it for most people to own both, but there's a definite yin and yang between the two.

A rather nice fragrance this one. It lasts for a good while. It fades after ten hours or thereabouts. It has a gentle projection, fairly moderate and discreet. It's a lovely rose smell with the black pepper giving it a little extra edge at the outset. The black pepper fades first and the pink pepper becomes more evident as it does so. The nutmeg is there at the start but fades after a couple of hours. What you end up with after a few hours is a rose smell above the musk and sandalwood base. I would describe the perfume as a nice rose scent overall. It is always a nice smooth smell and quite elegant. I've not tried the Soir so I can't make the comparisons but I would be very happy to find a bottle of this 'Intense' appear in my collection. One for a refined gentleman. Edit: judging from its recent removal from the Cartier website, it looks like it's just another limited edition. Shame. But at least the Declaration D'Un Soir is still there and in the shops. I'm nursing my bottle! Second Edit: After the bottle got used a bit the projection went nuclear! This projects strongly for a long time after the initial enormous blast. The duration now goes well over 12 hours.

Right! Well I was excited to try this flanker as the original was excellent despite not being my thing so maybe an intense version won't be either? The top notes are a little deceiving, quite smokey but not in a heavy way at all, high end spicy sandalwood, some bite, pink pepper and loads of Rose. To me at least the rose feels a bit different to the original, it's still light but no where near as bright. This rose is slightly powdered and even comes across as violet/iris like at times. Great trail off this and very long lasting, so all in all this truly is an amped up version of the original and worthy of the 'Intense' moniker. Despite this overall positive review, I'm not that taken by it, Cartier have played it quite safe with this flanker probably figuring that they want to remain in keeping with the original. Worth checking out...you could do a lot worse.

Starts off sweet and strong almost in a hairspray kind of way. Not unpleasant, just unusual and slightly chemical. Wait for a few minutes then you get an idea what this fragrance is about. Its woody and peppery and in spite of the opening, it's quite natural smelling. I get cedar as opposed to sandalwood, but its quite woody and beautiful. The peppers gives this a nice bite. The rose is barely there but it gives this an unusual edge for a mans cologne. Although is spicy, its pretty transparent and fresh. Longevity and projections is on the weak side unfortunately, but this would be ideal to layer with a stronger scent. At the end of the day this is classic Cartier, thumbs up.

I tried this along with Declaration d'un soir in a perfume shop several times and here it goes: Declaration d'un soir smells, lasts and projects amazing, suitable for all ages, easily worn by men and women, and sure it is a masterpiece. And as for this one (intense): It has a fainter rose than its older brother and good sandalwood at dry down and both have awesome longevity & projection. but this one has a strong noticeable (custard) note from the opening till dry down.. has anybody else sense this? Anyway delicious but I prefer the Declaration d'un soir much more.

This is hands down the strongest EDT I have ever tried. Easily 10 hours plus, and I am not someone who gets a lot of mileage out of fragrances. This stuff is seriously tenacious. I loved the original, but it was dangerously close to feminine territory (rose is a tough note to butch up). This flanker tones down the rose a bit (it is still very prominent) and plays up the herbs and wood for an overall more bitter feel. I would say it is more masculine, and thus better and more suitable, than standard Soir.

WHERE'S THE ROSE? _______________________________________________________ I don't know how and I don't know why, but when i sprayed it on me, i smelled only patchouli and cedar. But after a few seconds cedar transforms into dark chocolate. I don't know where there is any rose or pepper. 'sifone' is right, it reminds me a lot of Tom Ford's Black Orchid. Overall: Opinion: It's a not that bad fragrance - 7/10. Longetivity: not bad - 6/10 Sillage: medium - 5/10 All in all: 5 out of 10 points.
