Declaration Fraiche

I am updating my review of this one. I called it a tamed down version of Declaration, but I think it is a fresher one (hence the name). In fact, along with the recently released Declaration Parfum, it is part of an interesting spectrum of Declaration scents, ranging from citrusy and fresh on one end, and spicy on the other: Declaration Fraiche - original Declaration - Declaration Parfum I own it and I like it. I think it is a valuable flanker, and I have owned or currently own every Declaration flanker (I'm a fan). I own this, the original, and the Parfum OLD REVIEW: A tamed down version of the original Declaration. The only benefit of this one is that Declaration has been around for so long that it is hard to find a bottle that isn't super old. This one seems to smell like what I remember the original Declaration smelling like. This could even be a unisex cologne with how muted the signature Declaration scent is. L'Eau is dominated by a citrusy-melon scent, while this one is a muted version of the original Declaration. I actually like both...but longevity on this one is lacking while after 3 hours I think L'Eau hits its stride.

Cartier amazed me with this creation with simple and classic hints. Declaration Fraiche completely distorted me. The fantastic opening of Bergamot and Cardamom transported me a few years ago, when I tried the great Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa. But it is when you release it on skin that changes everything: Cumin, Bergamot and vetiver transform it into Eau Sauvage. This perfume is an undervalued Eau de toilette but in my opinion it is a great wonder in the bottle! Absolutely recommended!

Completely disappointed with this latest offering. It smells almost exactly like the original Declaration with some of the spices turned down slightly. There's a freshness that emerges through the dry down that wasn't present in the original, but sadly the longevity is sub-par with it being almost undetectable at the 3 hour mark. I'd just stick with the original, but if you want it for summer go with either Cologne or L'Eau. Fraiche is just a sad attempt at capitalizing on the Declaration name and it's almost impossible to find in stores to try before you buy.

TOO MUCH SPICES. cardamom, cumin, coriander. it smells like an Indian dish.
