Eau de Cartier Vetiver Bleu

Woody Aromatic 2015 Top: Mint Middle: Licorice Base: Vetiver That is it!! One of the best Vetivers from my humble perspective--if for no other reason than its presentation. Not overthought, overwrought, over-blended, notey as hell or just weird and uptight. (In my opinion found in the produce section: Only the Big Boys and Big Girls can do the notey right and we mostly know who is who.) Approach to Fashion and Approach to Fragrance: There is Yves Saint Laurent which I love, but also Bill Blass and Ralph Lauren founded in the practicality of 'ready to wear'. Oh boy, here we go. Did anyone get that parallel? Uh, what? This is top-class juice with a real fun mainstream feel to it. This is EDT so it can be enjoyed as well as cleansed away. Spraying some on your shirt is a nice way to enjoy it for longer. Otherwise the Mint comes and goes real fast leaving a delightful crisp, fresh, dew-like moment.. . .like the softest of kisses. Ultimate drydown is a soft Vetiver with some ghostly Vetiver hovering in a cloud of some kind of Vanilla but no such note. This fragrance is romantic and also perky. This is upbeat, crisp and hot. The handling of the Vetiver is better than most, in my opinion. The Mint and Licorice complement a Vetiver that is fresh, simple and has no dirt/root to it. Still, this Vetiver is not the usual Citrus mix. There is more to this. Lots of mixing Vetiver with Amber, Citrus and all kinds of stuff. Poor Vetiver is like scuffed-up baggage in a circus of scent foolery. Cartier stepped out of the mold. Where Vetiver normally is dirt/root, citrusy, or just plain overly licorice, or maybe resinous /butt-like, the Cartier Vetiver is really such a fun and classy mix. Aside on my Fav Lolita Lempicka: I love Lolita Lempicka Au Masculine with the anise that is kind of like Licorice. It also has a really unusual 'bitey' spike of Ivy. So frickin' hot! Cartier Packaging: I bought the 100ML instead of 200ML. The bottle is so cute and compact. A clear disc on top hovers over the soft blue of the juice like a UFO. Rotate the disc to the marked detent positions; 'on' or 'off' and it is just as you like. Atomizer is a plump fan of a spray and is superb. Bottle has some heft and feels great in the hand. Aside on Atomizers: Check out Cartier Declaration with the armature that swings out of the way on a pair of hinges. Now. . . you can spray it. Swing the armature back up and the 'safety' is 'on'. Fun time. If the Devil is in the Details, Cartier is more than a fallen Angel. As a former absolute hater of Vetiver(thank you supernova Roja Dove, and You Tuber Star Max Forti for saving me.), I now adore this Vetiver. Hit it hard. Hit it often. Soft, Romantic and Perky all at once. Alot of folks complain about various Mints as being like a 'dental rinse' or 'toothpaste'. I like the mint in Mr. Burberry Indigo. Still, I think Mint has an attitude all of its own and is not really the most Earthly, natural scent in its very essence. Picture a platinum blonde with strawberry lip-gloss and maybe some delightfully synthetic fragrance . That is how mint is, to me personally. Mint is unreal, beautiful, and not measured by how natural. Of course, I am a synthetic lover anyway.

It's a refreshing take on vetiver; one which I haven't seen yet. Unlike so many other vetiver fragrances, there are no pronounced citruses in this one. That alone is not so original, but still, I personally prefer dry vetiver (as in Heeley Vetiver Veritas) to a sour / green expression (as in Guerlain Vetiver, Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Creed Original Vetiver, etc.). The dryness of vetiver is complimented by cool mint, which again isn't something I haven't seen yet, but works well. What is really original about this fragrance, as far as my experience goes, is the combination of vetiver and mint with the creamy sweet Cartier base. Such a beautiful harmony of the contrasting notes: harsh, cold vetiver and mint, and smooth, warm liquorice and tonka with a waxy / creamy texture. Very nicely blended together. Coherent, but definitely not to the point of being a homogeneous mess. I have to say, this perfume has much surpassed my expectations. However, sillage is rather weak (which I do not mind at all) and longevity is quite poor as well (~3hrs on skin). BTW, vetiver is the only similarity between this and Encre Noire – this is sweet, warm and smooth; EN is sharp, harsh and cold.

On its own this fragrance is light, airy, and elegant; therefore, one can expect to wear it anywhere clean hygienic toilette is admired and appreciated — the office and church come close to mind. Perhaps I biased though, I’m in love with Vetiver as it’s like pure catnip to me. However I recently discovered that applying this Cartier gem in conjunction with bath oil “724” by Maison Francis Kurkdjian Paris creates a fragrance experience that is ethereally aromatic and singularly compelling! Give it a try and let the games begin. It’s all so romantic.

I’m not sure if I’ve contributed a review of this fragrance, but here goes. I originally purchased because I am a fiendish fanatic for Vetiver; and guess what? I did do previous review and I remain convinced. It is Cartier elegance and authoritative. Basically one must love the prestige of the house because this fragrance keeps a discreet presence close to the skin, so make sure you bathe first. Great for office wear!

Cool mint and dry vetiver wonderfully combined to make your hot summer days. If you're interested in Guerlain vetiver and think it is a little bit dated and too complicated, you may enjoy this modern vetiver-base scent. An outstanding work from Cartier although "concentree" is still my absoult favorite flanker from the line.

Intitially when I tried a sample of this, I thought it was nice but not particularly unique or interesting. But the more I wear it, the more I love it, & I may even buy it in the future. It's really pleasant, voluptuous but fresh, herbal and a little harsh initially, but feminine - or possibly unisex.

Oh my goodness!! This is the best of the Eau de Cartier line. I love vetiver, I love licorice and I love mint. The mixture in this eau is devine!! I keep spraying it on, I just can't get enough of it.

Elegant, refined, refreshing, authoritative

Opens quite heavily and herbal, lots of dark green notes and woody notes. It reminds me of how broken twigs in the forest smell. I smell pine needles also, perhaps this is the mix of vetiver and mint? Then the scent turns softer and sweeter. I only smell a hint of liquorice, and the scent tones down quickly. There definitely is something salty in there on that vetiver base, but it is very subtle. I get a whiff of liquorice from time to time. The freshness of the woods stays into the drydown. Performance is not so good on me, sillage is soft and longevity is weak. I liked the opening, but this scent seems to disappear quite quickly. It really is a skin scent on me. A pleasant one, herbal but a woman can wear this too. Shame about the performance, it really doesn't work on me. I do like this scent, it's spicy somehow, I don't tend to like vetiver but this one is nice. If only it lasted!

Vetiver Bleu is a very nice fragrance in its own right, even more so given it's the seventh (!) flanker of Eau de Cartier. In this case, it makes for a welcome addition. A surprisingly rooty and dry vetiver (for an 'eau') is given a menthol jab (more a gentle prod) and laced with salty-sweet licorice (leaning towards the latter). There's also a touch of bitterness to the vetiver that reminded me somewhat of ginseng. A simple but synergisitc blend that would be a worthwhile alternative to a citrus-based summer cologne or aquatic. Lasts about 5 hours. Good stuff.

This is MUCH better than the original Eau de Cartier or even Concentree! Very similar, but the vetiver here is a perfect addition to this scent! Unfortunately, it doesn't last much longer than Eau de Cartier, but the vetiver certainly helps! If you're considering buying one of the Eau de Cartier scents, this is the one to get! Just don't expect outstanding performance, you won't find that in ANY of the Eau De Cartier scents.

So there is this hippie grocery store near me. When I go in there, the store always smells of herbs and health foods. This Cartier reminds me a lot of the smell of hippie health food stores. To be honest, it is really not a bad smell. It is fresh and clean and the vetiver note is strong. I have hated all the Cartier colognes I have tried. This one is, so far, the only Cartier scent I have liked.

This one changes a lot. Starts off with a fresh vetiver, evolves in 5 min to a minty vetiver and after 20 minutes almost feels like a resinous scent. Like M7 Oud Absolu. The drydown is very similar to Bleu de Chanel. The vetiver becomes smoky. It's nice but doesn't have good longevity.

Simple and fresh. Kind of reminds me of the stuff my barber uses after my cut. the drydown is the best part.This is one of those frags that smells way better in the air than if you smell directly.You will think its worn off then hours later you wil still get whiffs.

Very manly scent and very nice. I cannot smell any licorice and it's really good because I'm usually not a fan of this note. This scent is truly about vetiver, combined with fresh mint. All in all, it's worthy male fragrance.

Cartier's version of Kenzo Air. A nice fresh Vetiver with traces of Licorice Wood. The Mint dies off quickly. I dig it.

Don' miss this one! A vetiver at his best (Mathilde Laurent knows how to do!) for a reasonable price.

Sweet spearmint with a tiny amount of smoke. Smokier later. Weak and inoffensive. It's very medium.

Awesome for a refreshing night after the shower before going to bed. I will add more later.

I wanted to like this fragrance...but it smells like a classy dentist's office. Or the toothpaste aisle at a Whole Foods store. What do I mean by this? The licorice and mint scents remind me of mouthwash...and the vetiver gives an earthy smell to the typical mint smell of toothpaste. Do these scents blend well together? Absolutely! They compliment each other well. Do I want to smell like a hunky dentist from a harlequin romance novel? No. I could see myself using this as a room freshener though.

Not the vetiver I was looking for after trying geurlain's. Feels more like an after bath splash. One dimensional. Not a fragrance to take too seriously. Faded quickly. Cool on/off switch, so no caps to lose! Smart, very smart!

Very weird scent. It's like you are standing in a classic but gorgeous library, but I like it somehow.

Nope. Too harsh, masculine, car freshener tree. I got a sample in a Eau De Cartier vials set (the original, Concentrée, Goutte De Rose, Vétiver Bleu) and I can say those vials are not practical at all, I got more perfume on my fingers than anywhere else. I didn't fall in love with the scent of any of them, but Vétiver Bleu was the worst. As a woman I didn't find it inoffensive, fresh or sexy. I even made a skin reaction, so I won't retest it. A bad experience overall, maybe it makes me biased, who knows, some might like it, but I wouldn't say it's a blind buy kind of perfume!

I bought it after all the good reviews I read here. I was hopping to find a fresh and almost “sweet” vetiver. But none of that. Someone said that “it smells like a classy dentist's office. Or the toothpaste”. Well, let me tell you, I am a dentist and it doesn’t smell like any office I had worked; shaving foam is all I get. I guess it’s the mint... HUGE disappointment.

Cartier Vetiver Bleu is one of those perfumes I've never thought I will buy, and... here we are! When I first tried it, it was winter and I was totally into my gourmand scents. But now that it's summer, I wanted to have a bit woody-fresh one, not a typical girly perfume. So I used my tester a couple of times and I found out that I like it a lot. Interesting about it, that it doesn't last too long on the skin, but it stays on the hair and clothes. It's not screaming, but you can still feel it, and that is exactly what I wanted. I only write a comment here, because reading these comments it seems that Cartier Vetiver Bleu is not worthy, but it is:)

I like Cartier Vetiver Bleu, but don’t think I would find many occasions to wear it. A fairly simple scent, VB is dominated by a dry vetiver. The mint note gives it an antiseptic overall feeling. I’m sure the note is there, but I can’t separate it. The scent reminds me of the kind of perfume that would be piped into a hotel lobby. I also sense a clean, “new car” smell, and could easily imagine a high end auto salesman wearing Vetiver Bleu. This may sound like a negative review, but I actually find it intriguing, just not me wearing it. An interesting flanker from Cartier. Performance is good, a few hours before turning to a skin scent.

It starts with a very classic and dry vetiver, like Carven or Givenchy, and it very surprisingly evolves after 5 mn into a much sweeter and spicy scent that has the typical scent of all the Cartier colognes with also a great base that could smells like a very soft and fresh Habit Rouge. Actually, it smells real close to Atelier Cologne Mistral Patchouli if this can help you having the idea. This Blue Vetiver is actually a fine scent, with a correct duration on the body, and it is therefore the nice surprise of this spring for me. Elegant and mature but fresh and springlike too.

This is so far my favorite among the Eau de Cartier line. Heres why: stays fresh all day and does not develop into something flat or unperceivable even after 6 hours; its refreshingly crisp, bright, minty, and without being fruity/citrusy with a proper amout of fresh, not balmy, vetiver; it has the longest longevity among its line; the projection is approproate, not intrusive nor quiet; and it blends well with my skin chemistry like with out-of-the-shower aura even after 6 hours. Its the masterpiece in its line!

Vetiver Bleu feels like an aftershave: the light blue liquid and menthol freshness bring to mind those classic post-shave products. Licorice dominates the composition, accompanied by vetiver and an ozonic hint of violet leaves. It’s a soft, fresh, and synthetic fragrance that wears like a second skin, though I wish the vetiver played a bigger role. Original and different, but lacking balance. The perfume is discontinued. I give it a 2 out of 5.

This just ok. It's more of a gentlemans scent than for ladies. It's very cold and fresh, that must be the mint. I can certainly detect the vetiver, but not for long and I can't detect any liquorice at all. The scent wears off very quickly. All in all, ok but quite dissapointing. If you're looking for a vetiver scent I highly reccomened Tom Ford Grey Vetiver - it's gorgeous!

Love, love, love! First spray is harsh, but give it a while to settle down. Very heavy on the vetiver and mint on first spray. The licorice, I do not detect it at all. After about an hour, that's when the magic happens for me. It smells so soft, clean, and refreshing, kinda like a just out of the shower smell. Not soapy. Just, clean. Great scent for hot summers!

The minty note in here isn't as obvious as, let's say, Kryptomint. I only get this fresh and rather light combination of dry vetiver and damp cedary note. Perhaps, I wish the mint note were more prominent and sweeter on my skin. Vetiver Bleu is very inoffensive and can be easily shared with your loved ones. I also would love to have this as hotel toiletries.

Vetiver and mint (traditional, fresh mint, not like the herbal mint featured in Cartier Roadster) add to the tradicional dna base, with citrus and powdery violet, of Eau de Cartier, a slight (but notable) sweet touch liquor. It smells great for a scent that lasts no more than three hours on the skin, a shame! 6/10

The mint mixed well with the vetiver, but shame on your cartier for making something so average and weak. projection, longevity and such is 5/10, smell is 6/10. Maybe Dior and Lalique have biased my vetiver sense, not sure.

Just received received this one and I love it the more and more I wear it. It sure is Eau de Cartier but with a sweet Iris note even though that isn't listed here.

cartier's vetiver bleu smells almost exactly like guerlain's vetiver, but this is fresher. i love the mint opening !! will be great to wear on a summer evening.

The fragrance is nice but it doesn't last.Longevity is poor. Rating : 5/10
