Les Heures de Cartier: L'Heure Promise I

Apparently, L'Heure Promise is a vintage-like and extremely delicate fragrance. The opening kind of reminds me of Prada Infusion d'Homme, with a transparent and silky yet atypical powdery iris note blended with inky musk, similar to the opening of Divine L'Homme de Coeur. I found myself quite enjoying it because Mathilde Laurent managed to capture the most compelling part of Infusion d'Homme, then executed it in a minimalist manner with a retro twist. What really impresses me is how Mathilde Laurent modernized a unique yet ineffable combo, reminiscent of the vintage version of Guy Laroche Fidji, to emphasize the airy and elegant facet of the iris note, like a breeze on a spring morning. This makes it such a hidden gem that instantly conquered my nose at the first try, even compared to well-known iris holy grails like Chanel Rue Cambon 31 and Lutens Silver Mist. Although there is a longevity issue (at least on my skin) and it is a bit too polite for my taste, it doesn't matter! Iris lovers should definitely check this out. Highly recommended! Rating: 8.5/10

Cartier L'Heure Promise I is a very fluffy eau de toilette. It creates a bubble around you which bursts and disappears in about an hour or two. Longevity is not impressive at all, but the beauty of this juice is never affected. It does give me a bit of a nostalgic feeling of something from the 90s, perhaps worn by some classy women in hotel lobbies or private clubs. The iris and green notes are soft and creamy, but lasts for just about 15 minutes, then the floral and powdery notes come up, and finally the woodiness. It is a softer version of Chanel No. 19 and a cousin of YSL Trench. Performance is much better on clothing than on skin. I prefer this over Hermes Hiris which I used to like a lot. Hiris is sad. L'Heure Promise is freedom, hope and possibilities.

Wonderful creation of the artistic perfumery of Cartier, created by the nose of the maison Mathilde Laurent. A fresh fragrance that recalls the warm spring mornings, the small drops of dew that slide on the newborn green leaves, the unripe floral scents, it is the extraordinary scent of the awakening of nature. The fragrance has an olfactory evolution that starts green, grassy with floral hints to evolve into the reassuring and enveloping scent of musk and sandalwood that creates that protective powdery note. Fragrance of great persistence.

This is a smooth, suede-like iris. An intriguing iris blend created with musk and sandalwood in the mix. L’heure Promise is full of mystery and potential, but being an EDT the perfume did not last long. Usually not a deal breaker (but the price is out of my range). Still, I really loved that there was nothing sweet in the composition. I enjoyed wearing this lovely on a cool winter day. I think it might perform better in Spring or Fall.

Lovely, fragrant iris luxuriating in a bed of fresh, newly sprouting grassy greens sparkling jewel-esque dew drops beneath a morning sun. Airy, delicate, wholly feminine. A truly masterful blend. Drydown brings a touch of powder & musk, though not enough to dim the dew drops. Love at first sniff!

Having fallen in love with several other perfumes from Cartier's « Les Heures » line, I managed to track down a few more, including this one. Mathilde Laurent is an exceptional perfumer, and I love the quality and simplicity of these scents. Seemingly, they are inspired by Proust's madeleine, and each is meant to evoke memories. L'Heure Promise I is right up my street - a green, iris-dominant scent. HPI opens with a beautiful green-woody petitgrain note that is quickly joined by powdery iris. Equal parts fresh, green and floral, it reminds me of a garden in the countryside. Iris reigns supreme, and is wonderfully smooth and powdery, becoming slightly soapy as time moves on. There is a suede-like quality to the iris, as Bubbles1964 below puts it so perfectly. It is joined by soft sandalwood, which adds depth and creaminess. As it dries down, musky notes emerge, which blur the edges beautifully. It fades to a musky skin scent with hints of powdery iris. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is well-blended, allowing the iris to shine throughout, complemented by the other, well-chosen notes. A beautiful iris scent, HPI has shades of Chanel 28 La Pausa, No. 19 Poudre and Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist, among others. Not groundbreaking, but a thing of beauty that pays homage to classic scents. Wearable and elegant, this is a unisex day scent for iris lovers. 4/5.

L'Heure Promise starts off with a fresh note, like a breeze when you open a window in summer in a countryside cottage surrounded by fields and greenery. It feels like a vacation! And this is the best part of this frag, the most unusual in my opinion but then suddenly the notes change to a nutty, almost sweet Iris... The powdery, floral iris takes over. After a few minutes and it gets powdery, musky and woody. This fragrance is both creamy and slightly dry. Very discreet, very office-friendly: little sillage and unfortunately tremendously low lasting power. Beautiful packaging! I love the sleek, tall bottle in a smokey brown glass.... I am not sure if I would buy a full bottle, but certainly it's worth a try! _____________

It’s beautiful green musk with a touch of iris (not buttery). The whole Cartier L’Heures range without exception has underwhelming projection. This is just too weak for me to even consider at this price point. Honestly, this range smells great but just so weak in projection I wonder if my POAL shower gel will outperform this. If I was looking for a light daytime scent I’d probably go for Lys Mediterranne or Eau de Magnolia.

The Iris hour is the only hour in my L'Heure collection that failed me. I is a beautiful creation, true, but maybe it's a touch muskier than i would have liked. Or it could be the green herbal undertone that bothers me here. Whatever it is, L'Heure Promise simply refused to click with me. ***(**)

A musk forward freshie with a little powder and greenness. Not very interesting. Smells very neutral and simple, like they made it just to be layered with real fragrances. Honestly is just gives me a headache even though it’s not a “bad” fragrance.

Somewhat between 28 La Pausa(Chanel) and Iris Silver Mist(Serge Lutens).

This went so terribly badly wrong on my skin, I am not sure quite what happened! Smelled from the decant bottle top this smelled good, iris and woods, and from the notes list I thought it would be right up my street. As I sprayed onto my skin the first instant was a rush of cool earthy iris, not quite carrot iris but very cool and fresh and reminded me of 28 La Pausa initially. But within seconds something was going badly wrong as a very strong very sharp sour note developed and became dominant and overwhelming. Buried somewhere beneath that unpleasant sharpness the iris could still be detected but the sourness was overpowering everything and I found it extremely unpleasant - repulsive even. I wish I could say this note settled down and went away but it didn't, and it was actually making me feel slightly queasy. Really not what I was expecting from this. I imagine if you have the right skin chemistry and you got the lovely cool austere iris and presumably later the sandalwood and musks without this strange sharp horribly sour note developing then this could be a beautiful elegant scent. I still want to try others from the line but I have lowered my expectations! I cannot comment on longevity because I had to give in, 3rd time in as many days I have had to scrub - and despite 3 washes I can still smell that sharp sourness lingering around me. Disappointing.

شماره 1 عطری شگفت انگیز با غنا و کیفییت بالا که تو همون ثانیه های اول نوبل بودن رو به رخ میکشه. عطری تو کلاس بویایی فلورال و سبز معرفی شده عطر یونیسکس معرفی شده ولی به سمت زنانگی تمایل داره شروعی دلفریب و جدی از بوی گل زنبق و حس سبز و تلخ و خاکی زنبق تو این عطر بوی کره زنبق نداره و اون حالت چرب و ماتیکی رو ایجاد نمیکنه بلکه بوی خود گل هست که حس پودری و کرمی داره این حالت در شروع عطر و کنار ی آکورد سبز و فرش و تلخ و خاکی همراهه مثل بوی گالبانوم و وتیور که در کنار بوی زنبق فوق العادست تو قلب عطر با از بین رفتن نسبی اون حس سبز بوی زنبق فرصت بیشتری خودنمایی پیدا میکنه که واقعا زیباست هر چی بیشتر از عمر عطر طی میشه رایحه زنانگی بیشتری پیدا میکنه عطری که درشروع بوی بسیار با طراوت و تمیز و صابونی طوری داشت درای داون رفته رفته حسی بالمی و کرمی میگیره به خودش انگار توی این عطر گل بنفشه و برگ بنفشه هم خیلی نقش دارند ولی اسمی ازشون برده نشده چون این حالات پودری و مرطوب و کرمی فقط از پس نت بنفشه و برگش برمیاد. این تیپ رایحه خیلی لوکس و شیکه بوی پوست بدن تمیزی رو القا میکنه که پارچه ساتن روی پوست بیقراری میکنه نرم و شیک و تمیز درای داون جایییه که بوی بسیار گرانبهای زنبق و موسک سفید با اندکی حسی سبز تا ساعتها فخر فروشی میکنه روی پوست. اگه عاشق بوی گرانبهای زنبق و بنفشه هستید این شاهکار گرانمایه رو از دست ندید اگه به جنسییت رایحه حساس هستید تو عطر شماره یک کارتیه خبری از حس مردانگی نیست کیفییت و بلندینگ عطر شاهکاره با اینکه رایحه نسبتا ساده و واضحی داره این عطر ولی پر از جزئیات ظریف و زیباست که این تایپ کارها فقط مختص به کارتیه هست. شماره یک ذاتا عطر ملایمیه ولی اسکین سنت نمیشه ساعتها روی پوست بخش بوی ملایمی و دلبرانه ای داره و راحت تا 4-6 ساعت روی پوست احساس میشه

I never write perfume reviews....first one! I'm not equipped to speak the perfume language of notes and development etc but I don't think this perfume has received the credit it's due. I purchased this some years back....love love loooved the smooth iris. It's a beautiful, serene scent. If it were possible for a smell to cure a headache rather than create one, this would be it! Longevity is great, and I suspect it gets complaints because of it's subtlety. This scent doesn't yell at you, but it definately envelops you, breathes of nature and fresh herbal/floral notes (to my nose anyway...like I said, not really well versed in dissecting perfumes). I know one of the other scents in this line had a note reminiscent of hay, and I sort of sense that here too, or something akin to it. Anyways, for those that know the language, this deserves a revisit and celebration.

You have to be a strong lover of Iris to appreciate this scent. Hiris by Hermes is one of my all time favorites and this is right up there with it. While the iris in Hiris is strong, there are floral notes that soften the papery woody essence of the powdery iris note. Here the iris is bold, bone dry and front and center. The sandalwood, green notes and musk in this can't tame the iris here and maybe they were not supposed to. This is regal smelling and gives the impression of old money, confidence and a no nonsense attitude. It's my favorite of Les Heures de Cartier line, well made and beautifully done. Only flaw: longevity is not good at all, it disappears quickly

Les Heures de Cartier - L'Heure Promise I Here we have a blend of aldehydes on opening with a citrusy sweet touch on skin. Then, the iris appears with a slight and clear touch of powdery accord. We can feel musc very very present during its evolution on skin, giving us a warm, clean and bath taken feeling too. Sandalwood appears as it evolves, but it does not take the main stage of the plot... It allows iris and musc always present , forming an harmonious masterpiece. We have here an intimate scent, well made and balanced, chic, warm and comfortable. Mathilde is so great! Thanks! :D

Interesting composition, I wouldn’t have thought it belonged to the floral green category, rather in the oriental floral or floral woody musk. Anyhow, L’heure Promise on my skin shows a combination of pettigrain, sandalwood in the style of Samsara- but less intense -and dusty iris. Feels like a cross between Prada’s Infusion d’Iris, Samsara and faint greens, in an understated style, Not an easy one to categorise, falls in the ‘try before you buy’ category for me. Easily unisex, may be liked by people who enjoy both masculine and feminine fragrances.

Smelled much more powdery on paper, and thought I wasn't going to like it. (I think all of Les Heures lean feminine, btw...) On skin though, this became much more complex and much less powdery. It is an earthy, unusual iris with dark undertones. I think I detect cloves? I get both a purple iris flower vibe as well as a brown orris root. I would describe the overall vibe as "dirty soap" or "goth soap." This is an EDT, while I think most others in the collection are EDP. I like it. If I saw a FB on deep discount I might buy.

A soft soapy and green iris opening, lovely for spring. Both the root and aerial parts of the iris are represented well and complimented by light musks and sandalwood. I also get wafts of cigarette smoke, like a smoker girl’s jacket. Not groundbreaking, but quite pretty and wearable. This one really grew on me. No it doesn’t last long, but that’s ok, and works for spring and summer. Remember when you try a perfume like this that is top note heavy, those top notes don’t last very long.

L'Heure Promise I Cartier: The Green Iris A lot of woody-powdery iris fragrances end up smelling very similar, but this one stands out by going in a green, slightly aromatic direction. The iris stays true to its original form—it’s not that leathery style you find in Dior Homme. Instead, it has earthy, green, and violet facets with a lovely freshness at its heart. It’s an iris with real character. Rating: 7/10

A subtle unisex, yet longlasting iris sandalwood. If you love woody/florals like Samsara but want something better suited for summer or are not in the mood for so much drama, this is it. Beautiful!!!

A lovely orris root, a lot of petit grain, some synthetic musks and cloves. It resembles a beautiful artisanal Italian cologne, but the iris touch elevates it to the condition of a jewel.

Sweet cottony iris... shear foamy iris with transparent cottons, touch of sweet cashmeran, & soft violet suede. It's very delicate, sensual, & erotic. A very beautiful creation indeed.
