Oud & Ambre

This one is very nice. On my first wear, at some point it vaguely reminded me of TF Oud Wood. But only briefly, and maybe in the mid stage. Oud is present, but not loud, and otherwise the amber is the dominant note throughout. And while the oud note is very light, I think it compliments it really well. Generally I wouldn’t compare it to Oud Wood at all, especially after the following wears. There is a mild powdery vibe to it; however, I wouldn’t categorize it as powdery but instead an amber fragrance with other notes complimenting that note and balancing it out. The powdery aspect, again, is mild and kind of just a secondary characteristic at some points in the wear. It is a fairly strong projector, but not in an unpleasant, unwelcoming way. A fragrance I bought just before this one is Ambra Aurea. Now, this one definitely has a similarity but is at the same time not the same fragrance at all. The similarity is in the type of amber note used. In Ambra Aurea there is also a myrrh note, which is noticeable but like the oud is with this one, it is a supporting note and does not dominate (which normally seems odd with both oud, and myrrh). Of the two mentioned, if I simply had to pick a favorite, Ambra Aurea would be it. It’s just darker, deeper and more rich and was one that I really fell in love with. This one is very well done though, and since it is lighter I think it’s also more versatile. Other than the projection mentioned this also has good longevity. I would say it is best in cool or cold weather, but again is light enough that it is fairly versatile, especially if you’re not outdoors. You could get away with wearing it to work, but it’s one that I would say is appropriate, and almost deserves to be worn on a day or night out on a date or a social event. This is a really nice addition to my collection.

Absolutely fabulous. A blind buy for me (and a successful one at that)! This fragrance is blended so masterfully, I’m almost at a loss for words. It’s beyond gorgeous, completely unisex and quite addicting. I’ve only tested this on paper so far, not yet on skin, but I imagine that when I do it will be even more of a breathtaking experience. The only downside that I notice so far is that the fragrance is a bit subdued, however this may be as a result of me not testing it on skin yet. One of the reasons that I enjoy the cold seasons so much is that it allows me to test my more dense fragrances; often times at night I will shower, apply a fragrance, go outside and walk a few miles to see how it performs. That said, I can’t wait to test drive this on skin, outside in the cold. Even as I type this, I am going back to the paper I sprayed this on as a tester and it’s already evolving! This creation is an ode to the art of perfumery, a pleasant break from the boring, cookie-cutter, linear fragrances that are being pumped out by the conglomerates that seem to dominate the industry today. I am so very impressed. Hats off to Mathilde and the entire Cartier team.

Zero Oud, just a very delightful Amber, with a hint of sweetness which I would attribute to a hint of vanilla. Nothing groundbreaking at all, but it is indeed a gorgeous fragrance. I got this for £100 and I'd say for the money I paid is great, but if I pad £345 for this I'd be crying. I can see this being a good deal @ £180ish, but not any more. It's a very elegant fragrance, that you can see a dude wearing an elegant tuxedo on a night out, but ultimately can be worn anywhere, by anyone. Update: This has a tiny hint of spiciness, but is not always present. Many moons ago in my early teens I had Santos de Cartier, but I think it was a limited edition of sorts, and all I can remember is how lush it smelled, and this has nostalgia of that fragrance, but what is there is the unmistakable Cartier DNA which is a very lovely and subtle dusty spice, like hints of it in the amber. All in all I highly rate this now after a few wearings, and it might actually be worth its asking price or near of it, as it's got an edge on a slightly unique type of amber fragrance, well worth a try if you can get your nose on it.

Just smelled this elusive beast for the first time today. I was gifted a generous decant by an official rep. So generous I'm putting it on my "have" list even tho I don't have an actual bottle. The only other fragrance I've done that with is Commodity's Book. I have a sandwich bag full of 10ml samples. Now, while I well know one can't base their opinion on an atomizer sniff (I didn't want to try it in, hot, humid weather and ruin my experience), I am prepared to offer a shaky first impression: Mind BLOWN!!! Full boom. What I smell primarily, and no one has said this (that I've read, at least) are frankincense, a lightly sweetened, dry, amber accord and a high quality, smooth, oud. The quality is in line with Cartier's other ouds, which is HIGH. As of right now, I'm inclined to say Cartier is my third best fragrance house. Mathilde Laurent is a genius. As it stands now my favorite houses, in order, are: 1) Amouage 2) Serge Lutens 3) Cartier I would really be ok if you took everything away and just gave me those 3 houses to buy from. I’ve had samples of Oud & Ambre since last year and I’ve honestly been gatekeeping this gem. It’s a true masterpiece. Throw on a slim-fit turtleneck, classic trousers, a few sprays of this... and it’s instant aura — confidence, power, money, that refined masculine vibe all in one. HOWEVER — two days ago I finally bought a full bottle since my samples were done. First spray? Completely different. It smelled harsh, overly alcoholic, and honestly pretty bad — even though the bottle is 100% authentic. I figured maybe it just needed some time after being opened, so I let it sit for two days. And exactly after those two days... boom. It started smelling just like my samples. I’m sharing this because I now understand why some people might not like this fragrance. If your first spray is that harsh, off-putting hit, you’d think something’s wrong. But trust me — it settles fast. Give it a couple of days. Whatever weirdness you smell at first fades, and what you’re left with is that beautiful, rich scent it’s supposed to be.

OK, Oud & Ambre is the best from《 Les Heures Voyageuses 》that I've tried. A simple composition that is exactly what it says on the tin, it has better performance than others from this line. O&A can be described as a perfectly choreographed dance between the title notes. The oud note is unmistakable, yet mild and palatable - a good introductory oud. Woody and smooth, it marries beautifully with the more animalic amber note. Rich and salty, it is ambergris adjacent, smelling expensive and classy. It is reminiscent of MFK Grand Soir or Amouage Material - an excellent, wearable amber scent without any vanilla sweetness. The oud here simply serves to enhance the amber. It becomes musky and dry as it dries down, with the soft oud becoming more prominent. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. Timeless and classic, O&A is an excellent unisex amber scent that makes great use of a buttery oud note. Another simple but beautiful creation from the extraordinary Mathilde Laurent. 4.5/5.

Oud & Ambre An elegant harmonization of a smoky woody oud with no funk, and a buttery powdery ambre with just the right amount of sweetness. I've struggled to find an ambre forward fragrance for a while because they're often too sweet, or combined with notes that make them as such. Grand Soir was almost there - ended up too sweet. The oud has this smoky incense to it that surrounds the ambre, but doesn't fully envelope it. It creates for this haunting sensation that is entrancing. The scent's trail are like sirens hypnotizing you to constantly follow suite. Two of my favourite notes combined so masterfully with a mystery note of incense born from within; bravo Mathilde, bravo. Suave and sophisticated, date night, simple pleasures, a few sprays away from heaven. Thanks for reading.

Super classy luxurious serious scent. Although it only has 2 notes i get a spicy almost cinnamon-esque feeling aswell as an almost creamy lactonic smell at the very back. After a little bit that cinnamon and amber are still there but that creaminess starts to turn slightly sour, and slightly off putting until you dig deeper into to the smell. An hour or so later that sourness dissappears and your left with a smooth warm and punchy amber with that woody oud in the back, with the slightest hint of cinnamon. All around happy with this, extremely mature and prestigious scent perfect for when you want someone to think your that guy. One of those few scents that i deem worth the outrageous price. 500 dollars for 75ml of this is relatively understandable.

This might be my all time favorite perfume. It smells SO good. It's so warm and comforting. I often spray it on before bed because it's heavenly to fall asleep with it. I get quite a few compliments on this. I love this so much that I thought I would love any fragrance with oud, but I don't. Some yes, some no, but this one is phenomenal. The Oud & Santal is also great, but this one is just that little bit better. While I was testing it in the store, a different customer asked what it was. I think she bought it too. I would say that it was overpriced except that oud and amber are both expensive elements in perfumes. Considering the high quality of the fragrance and the high price of the ingredients, I think the price is reasonable.

Clean and noticeable oud. There are a lot of spices here which are of a better blend compared to Grand Soir. They're made of different styles of amber accord, so I'm not sure if it's fair to judge which is better in this facet. Grand Soir's amber has a prominent benzoin and vanillic base, which makes it warmer, whereas this one feels more balanced, refined, and neutral. My guess is a combination of woody labdanum, resins (not much of benzoin), aged ambergris (or to mimic), and a bit of vanillic base. The blend is so smooth, very close to Roja's work. I just wonder why did they not be more adventurous given this much funds, the quality of raw material ingrs, and the skills...

I am not a massive fan of oud fragrances, but the balance in this Cartier is quite good. The amber is very strong compared to fragrances with similar note breakdowns, and it smells somewhat complex despite how simplistic it is shown here. Reminded me of the drydown of Grand Soir, and even somewhat like Red Tobacco. Obviously, the elephant in the room is the massive price tag, but I would recommend at least sampling this.

I bought this as a souvenir in Hamburg while my boss bought a ridiculously expensive watch. Just a masterpiece of smoothness. I find this better than Grand Soir which I also think is great. I have never seen this anywhere else and not easy to find online either. If you can find it then it is at least worth a sample. Very surprised to find this and the only time I have bought a fragrance without a plan and research.

Elegant, stunning, rich, confident, and real niche perfume........................ I have also ''AFRICAN ROSE'' from memo Paris almost are the same and both of them are fabulous, you can't stop sniffing and this perfume is very long lasting more than 15 hours on clothes, wow factor is here definitely. uniqiness:9/10 longevity: 10/10 projection:10/10 sillage: 10/10 Overall:9.5/10 perfect!

I fell in love, this is Golden Butter , i can’t believe what i’m smelling. I have grand soir and they aren’t remotely similar apart from the note breakdown, Cartier have executed this it perfection. Grand soir is refined but still raw in its notes. This is refined to perfection , there is a butteryness to the smell that just makes you just ‘mmhh’. My best purchase to date

This is a beauty! A just sweet enough amber, is there really any oud there? Seriously? Resins (incense) just enough. A sharp peppery accord to counteract the sweet amber. This is a must have for me and I usually hate ambers. Phenomenal composition.

Absolutely stunning addictive unisex sensual amber and oud. I was looking for wearable oud and wearable amber and I found one perfume that covers both categories for me! Simple and perfect jus masterpiece!

Mathilde Laurent works her magic and does something between Ambre Sultan and Grand Soir. Beautiful in its own right. Sweet a touch dry and resinous. All year round scent IMO if u manage ur sprays.

Damn! What a beast from house of Cartier. Just got mine today and I tell you this is as good as Amouage library collection opus VI. So good that the performance is unbelievable. Love this scent

A spicy affair indeed. This reminds me of Chanel's "Le Lion", but its more woody, less powdery and musky. It is somehow more serious and aloof than "Le Lion". The amber here is just gorgeous, its a piece of art. Underneath the Amber, there is a crackling, woody, incensy oud. It is not medicinal or animalic at all. This reminds me of Dunrobin Castle in Scotland (on a sunny fall evening). It is grand, and it is gorgeous. The golden hues of amber, with hints of incense, portrayed in 4K. This is one of the most classy and sophisticated cold winter scents ever created.

MFK Grand Soir was one of my most complimented fragrances, but I eventually sold it because it was a bit too sweet gourmand for my liking. Oud & Ambre sits perfectly for my taste. It's a dense powdery amber with a dry incense woody base without the sweetness. Beautiful.

Nice blend with strong performance 8/9 hours with good projection. It is very dry & needed a bit of sweetness to be perfect for my taste, it is still very good as it is. The down side is the very high price.

Grand soir vibe yet a bit more interesting with the addition of a slightly smoked, non-animalic oud. Would be considered an absolute gem if more people knew about it

in my defense i got this in a discovery set - i dislike amber, and heavily dislike it when it's the focal point of a fragrance, so i would have never have picked this out to sample for myself. the amber is horrific. antiquated, sweaty and pissy... just purely nasty on my skin. the oud is nice - super smokey and not animalic or barnyard-y atall. i know the amber is the culprit for the stink as i also tried oud & santal, which has no such stinkiness about it. 2/10 a good oud ruined by amber

was browsing at Neiman's when I came across Cartier's LES HEURES VOYAGEUSES collection line, saw this gorgeous bottle on display and was curious to sample, I tried a few and thought they were high quality very good fragrances. Oud absolute was a winner as it remained me of Tom Ford's 2007 Oud Wood very potent, but next to it was Oud and Ambre and thought might be nice since I already have MFK's Grand Soir the King of Amber, so I thought........... WRONG!!!!!! OMG!!!!!! when I sprayed Oud and Ambre I immediately was obsessed with this scent, it smelled soooo gooood and amazing. imo if kilians Straight to heaven & Mfk's Grand Soir had a baby it would be Oud and Ambre without the rum. as a matter of fact the oud and amber came off a little boozy to my nose and of course Amber and Oud isn't the only notes despite what fragrantica has listed, this has so much more depth and quality inside. This is seduction in a bottle very well rounded and smooth. if your looking for a wonderful gorgeous scent look no further Oud and Ambre will be the1 in 202ONE

And Mathilde Laurent does it again! Another beautiful and luxurious concoction (magic potion, really). I'm not usually a fan of amber scents but this one is done in such a soft way. It's super spicy but never harsh. Just sweet enough. The entire amber/oud accord is wrapped with a gentle puff of powder and dry, diffusive ambery molecules. This is a perfect example of how to tame screechy woody amber molecules. A couple hours in, I get a faint touch of that Cartier pink rose (which I think is their version of the Guerlainard), a DNA that runs through all their scents. Oud & Ambre projects nicely and has incredible lasting power but at the same time it's refined and restrained. This entire line is incredible, except for Oud Santal—wasn't a fan of that one. Although, I'm told that execution is more of a layering skin scent. Kudos to ML.

This is one of the finest oud and amber fragrances out there. Cartier's amber accord is much more refined and better blended than MFK's Grand Soir, the latter of which I find somewhat anemic. Despite being stronger (and perhaps more intense) than Grand Soir, Cartier's Oud & Ambre sits close to the skin, never cloying, with a buttery rich smoothness that is second-to-none. This is fragrance making at its finest and an absolute masterpiece in its simplicity.

I think Les Heures Voyageuses is one of the very best designer exclusive ranges. To my nose, Oud & Ambre mostly emphasizes the labdanum component of an amber accord. It is resinous, sticky, crystalline, a little leathery, and very powdery. I do not find Oud & Ambre to be sweet, and the performance is subdued on my skin. I also get a floral (possibly ylang) facet. Reminds me quite a bit of Labdanum 18 by Le Labo.

Oud & Ambre Cartier: The French Oriental Don’t let the "Oud" and "Amber" labels fool you into expecting a heavy, oriental fragrance. This is oud and amber done in a very quiet, mild French style. It actually reminds me a little bit of Grand Soir by MFK, but with that specific powdery and spicy signature that runs through this entire Cartier collection. Rating: 7/10

Très beau parfum oud et l ambre tout les deux sont très doux réconfortant du déjà vue beaucoup de fois mais ce qui fait la différence c’est la qualité superbe ne pique pas le nez et ni écœurant 10/10

Whatever you do stay away! I simply don’t want more people knowing about it. It’s that GOOD! Take Grand Soir and add to it a little Mozart. The result is this!

A vegetal amber with hints of oud, spicy thyme, pink pepper, cedarwood, patchouli, and earthy, dusty vetiver. Not worth buying

Buttery golden amber with a faint touch of dry oud. One of the best ambers out there. 8.5/10.

From my view it's like a lighter and drier version of Tom Ford's AA. It's a winner here.
