Oud & Oud

This fragrance is exactly what the name on the bottle says: two ouds, different in nature, intertwined into a rich, elegant scent that has tremendous longevity, meaningful projection and a luxurious richness. The first of the ouds is on display, front and center, at the outset. This oud is just a very little bit barnyard, but never rough. Any animalic notes are just enough to mark the oud used here as genuine. They are also quite fleeting. The initial impression is just a bit spicy and woody. Very soon, the barnyard transforms into an orchestra hall--wooden stage, residual perfume smells from previous audiences emanating from the richly upholstered seats and the smell of carefully maintained woodwinds and strings from the stage are all here. None of it is the least bit abrasive; all is refined, smooth and cultured. At this point, the second oud emerges. Oud #2 is just a little bit incensey with a tinge of the medicinal. It works exceptionally well with the first oud to create a spicy, woody symphony within the orchestra hall that by now has faced gradually away. All of the non-aminalic, non-fecal aspects of oud emerge from the scent during this incredibly long lasting heart of the scent. There is a good quality woody aromachemical of some sort undergirding all of this oud, and in the final phase of the scent, a cedar note lingers with residual hints of oud. Considered in its entirety, this is a splendid and beautiful composition. It is deceptively linear seeming in its aromatic subtlety. One oud nuance after the next shows its face over the long duration of this fragrance. Cartier has created a lovely line of oud perfumes here, and this one, along with the surprising Oud & Menthe and the smooth Oud & Santal are all standouts, even when considered against the superior blending display in the remainder of the line. I would be stunned if there was no natural oud in Oud & Oud, but I also suspect that ultra-high quality synthetic oud is in use here as well. Considering the quality, elegant presentation (including packaging reminiscent of Carrier's signature jewelry cases and lovely bottles with nice caps) and significant use of real oud, I find the steep price asked for Oud & Oud acceptable. The scent is unisex, smooth enough to wear in more scent-flexible office environments and it is incredibly well suited to evenings out at elegant venues. It should be noted that while this fragrance projects, the sillage is always subtle and enticing--never overly strong or smothering. Oud fans, as well as the oud-curious, really should try and sample this gem. Personally, I found it full bottle worthy. Highly recommended.

I now have it! This is, hands down, one of the absolute best and most unique smelling ouds money can buy. This is deservedly on par with Frederick Malle's The Night when considering a top notch and luxurious oud. Albeit not smelling similar. This smells like oud and muted amber and sandalwood. Oud being the front and centered star of the show. The oud is animalic, but in an appreciable way. The stank, imo, lends to it's intrigue. In regards to it's texture, it's perhaps one of the smoothest, if not the smoothest, fragrances I've smelled or owned. What I appreciate about this is it's wearability. Altho it's a stinker, it's blended in such a way that commands respect for the wearer. Granted, if you look the part. Something Malle's composition can't boast---at least not around just anyone---no matter what clothes you have on. Lol Longevity is thru the roof. This is a one on the chest and one on the neck perfume. Anything more and it can be potentially off putting for some. Unless you're the night at the opera or gala going guy. In which case I would recommend no more then 4. (One on both wrist) This is the kind of scent that is meant to draw people in. It's supposed to make people want to confirm the niceness of what it is they're smelling. It is NOT suppose to scream out. Again, the longevity is phenomenal and if you over spray this it's going to stay that way for HOURS. Making you the guy to negatively talk about. Lol All and all, with this purchase, I'm now at point in my journey where I'm content. You literally couldn't give me stuff at this point. I don't want it, no matter what it is. In fact, I may start selling stuff. The only thing I MAY grab is Amouage's Opus XIV - Royal Tobacco. Albeit, I don't need it. I have Fumerie turque, Atman Xaman and Zegna's "Strength", which I deem to be the best of the best tobaccos. It's just that when Amouage makes a tobacco, it's not to be taken lightly. تست امشب اگه چشمهای منو می‌بستند یا عطر رو بدون نشانه میدادند تست کنم . محاله ممکن بود ذهنم بره سمت ی برند دیزاینر مگه میشه این کیفییت تو ی برند تجاری گرچه ی موی گندیده کارتیه می ارزه به هزار تا برند خلاقانه ولی تا قبل از این واقعا مرسوم نبوده عطر عود اند عود ی کلاس دیگه ای از عطر عودی رو داره تو ی برند تجاری تعریف می‌کنه عود اند عود اصلا اون چیزی نیست که تو فرگرنتیکا فقط با تک نوت عود معرفی شده . اتفاقا برعکس ی آکورد کمپلکس ارینتاله که در شروع بوی عود امبر گریس و پچولی و مر مشهوده . ی عطر با فضای کاملا عربی اما بینهایت فاخر و مجلل . کارتیه هر عطری میسازه لعنتی بوی تجملات و ثروت میده اگر عود دوست دارید . اونم عود طبیعی شدیدا این عطرو پیشنهاد میکنم . برای این میگم طبیعی که کاملا وجوه اسرار آمیز و هیجان انگیز بخور عود رو به نمایش میزاره چوبی .فلفلی . انیمالیک . صمغی . کپکی . میوه ای . فارغ از استارت و نیم ساعت اول این عطر که انگار وارد یکی از کاخهای مجلل داستانهای هزار و یک شب شدید . روند عطر استوار میشه روی نت عود . عود خودش به تنهایی ی عطره کامله . و این لعنتی منو همش بیاد دهن العود میندازه بشکل عجیبی این عطر با کیفییت و زیباست و بشکل عجیبتر اینکه من تا امروز این کیفیت و نمایش عود رو تو برند تجاری ندیدم . اگه اون وجه انیمالیک امبرگریس و کپکیه پچولی رو با حس رزینی و دارک و چرک عود دوست دارید . شدیدا این عطر شماست که اگر بخواهید همچین چیزی بخرید از هر مارک دیگه راحت باید ۳-۴ برابر هزینه کنید ‌ کیفیت عطر خارق العادست پرفرومنس خیلی عالیه و تا ۱۲ ساعت بعد روی پوست به ملایمت احساس میشه . در ضمن ذهنتون هم از عطرهای ارینتال عودی و عربی و حرمی معمول که با رز و زعفرون و کندر همراهه پاک کنید عود اند عود کارتیه ی عطر کاملا عود محور و انیمالیکه .

Tried this at Saks yesterday and got a sample to take home. Somehow I had not noticed this before, so I was surprised that Cartier even had this (I thought the Number Series was their last product...), I digress...I love oud frags, and this is very much an oud fragrance. With that said, it is not like a Tom Ford oud that you notice immediately. It is much more subtle and buttery smooth. It is oud but softer. This is not to say that you wont smell it, it just does not project like many of the typical pungent ouds that most of us have become accustomed to. Longevity is great, 18 hours and I can still smell it (I sampled it on my wrist, and while I had Oud Wood applied to my upper torso as normal, it had long faded away.) Oud & oud dries down to a soft, smooth, dirty, woody fragrance over time. Is this bottle worthy...while I enjoy this, at the current price point I can not say it is needed for me for 5 months out of the year. If your collection of the typical ouds is full, and you want something lighter and different; this might be a nice compliment for this Fall/Winter season. Just my .02

Incredibly elegant, smooooooth, and oh so charming! This is light, yet densely woody, with something reminiscent of putting your nose in an aged oak barrel, with a distant whisper of sweetness. Oud & Oud is pure class and refinement. While it need not be reserved for formal occasions, I don't know that I'd waste such precious juice for running quick errands. What I'm NOT getting (that others note), is any smoke, animalic/barnyard notes, nor any semblance to Tom Ford's Oud Wood (which can't hold a candle to this gem). You might as well compare diner food to haute cuisine. Truly, you can't find a better fragrance for "oud beginners" - and oud aficionados will gush over this. There's nothing "challenging" or harsh about this oud. Any rough edges have been expertly polished away to an artful finish. While it has incredible staying power and lasts morning until the wee hours of the night, it does sit rather close to my skin (and to be fair, my skin eats fragrances). And did I mention this is completely charming? Highly recommend a full bottle if you can get your hands on it.

The perfumes of Cartier's《 Les Heures Voyageuses 》collection all feature an oud note that is placed alongside other singular notes to form a simple-but-elegant accord. Until now. Oud & Oud places this smooth oud note centre stage. More woody than skanky, the oud here (and in the other perfumes) is a good introductory oud, realistic yet palatable; soft, nuanced and ambery. O&O is more pungent than the others, presumably due to an increased amount of oud present as well as a lack of other notes to balance it out. It is animalic and strong, yet still nicely woody. It becomes leathery as it develops, with a nice musky undertone. It becomes increasingly musky as it fades. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. Beautifully blended, and smooth and buttery throughout, O&O is utterly elegant. Unisex, even masculine-leaning, it is perhaps the best oud-dominant scent I've come across. Oud & Ambre is my personal preference, but this is excellent. Kudos to Mathilde Laurent. 4/5.

It seems to be a Cartier’s tribute to growing popularity of oriental oudy fragrances. With this scent, the enterprise’s perfumer has succeeded and created a very interesting interpretation of an oud theme. It smells dry, resinous, a little animalic, opulent and baroque at the same time, but it’s not overloaded. And the fragrance gives you an impression of being natural and of high quality. While the slightly animalic note disappears, the woody scent becomes softer and stays warm all the time. It’s good wearable in the colder days. Maybe, not every day because of its opulence, but on special occasions it will give you a cozy oriental feeling.

I bought this one at Ogilvy's in Montreal and I've been wearing it all day. What surprises me the most is how light it actually is. After testing it in store I was sure it would be a dark deep frag but it's actually not. The opening notes smell light barnyard and animalic but that fades quickly. Hard to describe other then an intense light oud that lasts forever but smells light, not heavy or overwhelming like so many oud's do. A clean smell with that unique Cartier "note".

A really lovely yet safe and sophisticated rendition of Oud meeting the IFRA regulations. The perfume opens with notes of Laotian Oud and slight leathery notes. The heart is Assam (non-barnyard) Oud and woody notes (prominent cedar). The perfume settles on a powdery amber and tonka bean. The unisex perfume is beautifully blended with moderate to strong sillage and excellent longevity. A wood lovers dream that can be easily worn by anyone on almost any occasion. Enjoy!

Ooh lord what a beautiful oud-based scent. This is how an oud scent should smell like. They should use it as a reference when making oud scents. It reminds me of Dior Leather Oud but I find this one more attractiv and less musky/dirty than Leather oud. Really well done Cartier. Scent:9.5/10 Projection: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10

Maybe it's just me, but I do not get smoke at the outset, and don't get pure Oud either. It is far more filled with gourmand notes than what others smell. But despite the differences in what we smell, most agree this is a heavenly scent. I find it elegant, a bit traditional, and wearable any time of year.

People may think this is a heavy woody, stinky oud fragrance but they are so wrong. This does start a little heavy but it smooths out relatively quickly to the point where it is almost so bright and wearable in any occasion. I love this fragrance in summer nights but can wear anywhere

This is a true luxury cologne. By far the best oud ever! Smell is incredible and develops really well! The scent screams success:).. well done Cartier

I still find this one lasts on my skin, even overnight. Although it is light the whole time, never strong like how people want their ouds.

Aggressive start but improves in the dry down. Good longevity but below average projection. Very expensive price for 50ml.

Oud done the Cartier way. This is pure class in a bottle. It's not a brutal oud. Just class all the way. 9/10

Woody, animalic, light spicy. It's mildly oudy but far from an oud oil or wood smell. It's a soft, powdery animalic woody scent, with a dash of incensy spiciness and a touch of rose. It is masculine, deep, and slightly stinky in a sexy musky way. Very mature. I like it's warm depth. It reminds of masculine animalics from the 80s. Because of that, O&O will drop people but repulse others. You're likely to enjoy O&O if you like the likes Chanel Antaeus & YSL Kouros. The whole Cartier oud collection "Les Heures Voyageuses" is built on an oud accord that is woody & animalic. I was hoping for a more realistic oud to be honest. O&O is the most animalic of the collection, I'm yet to try Oud Absolu, though. Masculine, luxurious, winter wear. "Like"

loved it at first, the sour oud and smoke, a very genuine true oud, dry but it literally disappeared from my skin after liberal application in about 30 minutes, not worth the price; try Boadicea's Complex for a complex oud that radiates and lasts forever

Dry, slightly sweet and medicinal. By itself, it's a difficult wear for me. But I've been layering it with other scents, most recently a quarter spray of Black Afgano, and it really brings out the best of both scents.

It took me to my childhood and remind me arab women that smell like it. It's rich warm luxury and high quality oud. If you into oud game you like it. It's just oud and nothing else. In my opinion it's more feminine.

Terribly synthetic. Has a man's after shave dry down with some sugar. What a mess!

My God! I’m not a great oud connoisseur, but I bet there’s not even 10% real oud in here. I can only laugh when I read people saying “this is the best oud”, etc. Although it’s pleasant, this is far more high quality aroma-chemicals than oud. At the end, I get more incense and wood than oud smell. And performance sucks! There is a guy that says you should wear only two sprays LOL. This is so weak, I think It’s necessary at least ten sprays. Definitely don’t worth the money.

Impact Mustard seed, pickling spice, green peppercorns, Belgium lambic ales and sour Flemish ales, fermented foods, floral sauerkraut, pumpernickel bread, rye, caraway. Quite a feast. At its worst it’s medicinal acne pad wipes. Wearability? On me it’s dried down to a simple and extremely mild powdered cedar, slight remembrance of pickling spices, maybe hallucinated florals, rose? If I wore this out I wouldn’t refer to it as an oud because there is zero reminiscence of oud. At the most it’s like an empty attar of oud from years ago. It does however carry aspects of a barnyard style Hindi oudh in the worst way. Faint cheap leather, lathered in mustard, which comes across as synthetic civet. I don’t think it should be worn, I’ll go as far as to say that. It’s a ridiculous mess on my skin. I’m I a walking hot dog with mustard and relish? Is this just a disgusting gourmand? It’s reminiscent of those gnarly mustard covered pretzel pieces that sort of taste like a cheeseburger, that scent is not far removed from this fragrance. Maybe conceptually that’s the point, make an oud like scent appeal to the west by making it smell like a cheeseburger? It’s unisex in the sense that all sexes should stay away. Bottom line Messy silliage, moderate projection, skin scent longevity, yet lasting. I’m not getting oud. As a failed oud scent I try to imagine if it works any other way, and I really don’t think so. Like an abstract muted metallic cheap bay rum aftershave. Don’t blind buy!

Dirty animalic oud, it seems like there are just 2 types of oud and nothing more. Yes oud is a delicate scent, but in this situation, it smells literally like poop, It's strange to understand why they even launched it

A Hard Pass and disgust! Its fermented rottenish olives in water.

Very sharp in the opening. Smells like freshly split green logs, fresh hay, cracked peppercorns, even sourdough bread. Almost citrus-y, and really kind of bracing. That lasts for about an hour. It then calms down, begins to soften (a lot) and sweeten (slightly). I find it hard to describe this one and Oud & Musc, but they are similar in feel: elegant, gauzy, earthy, dirty, spicy, airy, precious woods. Oud & Oud is the most challenging of the Les Heures Voyageuses that I have tried, but the dry down is truly worth waiting for. Cartier's Les Heures Voyageuses are all exceedingly high quality, with excellent materials and creative olfactive stories to be told. Oud & Musc leans slightly more feminine, while Oud & Oud is slightly more masculine. Oud & Oud has moderate sillage and eternal longevity. PS: Because of that very sharp, green, freshly split logs oud, it reminds me a bit of Oud 27 by Le Labo, but the Cartier is much more sophisticated.

Wow I’m surprised most people here have no idea what real oud smells like; it’s at best 0.0000001% real oud like cmon you expect a house like Cartier to sell you a perfume with real oud oil without it costing at least $1000? Dream on. This perfume is superb but it only attempts to replicate what real oud could smell like in a very toned down vanilla-amber-floral-like way. It’s like eating at an ‘authentic’ Indian restaurant in a posh neighborhood and thinking oh yea it can’t get more authentic than this. Great perfume nonetheless but it’s as animalic as a furry stuff toy. Very pleasant perfume and I’d say a very very friendly introduction to the Oud accord

This is modern French interpretation of the animalic oud. Some people right here : it’s quite far from real animalic oud. If it was a painting then real animalic oud would be a real cow, and this one would be a pop art cow drawing in acrylic paint. Something like that. Yes still animalic oud profile, but less rich, more synthetic. At the same time much more wearable and modern.

This is a forest fire in a bottle! Amazingly intense, resinous and smoky. Has the slightest antiseptic quality initially, but not as harsh/astringent as most Montales. Cartier's is a beautifully executed Oud that has a surprisingly rich, organic feeling overall. The scent mellows out slightly as it dries, but remains very impactful and lasts forever on my skin.

Probably the best one from the six I've tried from the line. There are some animalic qualities in here but it gets smoother the longer you wear it. Woody, smoky, spicy. It's well blended for sure. A fairly simple oud scent which is wearable and pleasant, if you're someone who likes to wear oud regularly. It leans masculine to my nose. Nice one. 7/10

This one is a good strong, bitter and smoky oud. Cartier is jumping on the band wagon as oud is all the rage right now. While its nice, it's not as exceptional as Oud Immortel by Byredo or Tom Ford's Oud Wood. Those two have it all over this one.

A beautiful beginning, but unfortunately, a bad smelling end. Like shaving soap.
