Oud? Perhaps not. Radiant? Absolutely yes. This is a juicy ginger GEM from Cartier - with the truest-to-life mimicking of the bright, almost citric smell of freshly-cut, freshly-harvested root ginger I've ever stumbled on in a perfume. That's the highlight, but the rest of the ensemble also plays along handsomely. Even the woodsier undertones stay just as clean and invigorating: still warm and spicy, but absolutely free of any the kind of bitterness or barnyard which often trail in with alleged oud notes. (So hmmm, I wonder ... how much of the horrific sticker price can really be excused by 'the high cost of genuine oud'? Or perhaps they really did find some magic natural varietal which brings all of the spice without any of the stink.) Overall, OR stays beautifully balanced: fresh and clean without ever being at all soapy or bland. The Sichuan pepper's kept well in check - present and individual, but still softly-spoken and diplomatic. Impeccably controlled, and better yet, it resists any lapses into cliched vanilla or musk to eke out those evanescent, unusual notes. Unisex and all-purpose without ever getting dull. Doesn't billow about - it's too tactful and classy for that - but still has surprising staying power on skin (6, 7 hours maybe?) and even more durable on fabric. Far more airy and spare than the gorgeously luxe, eddying, creamy clouds of Oud et Santal from the same line (which I drool to buy some day) - but like O&S, OR is just undeniably, astonishingly good. This, too, is a jewel worth saving up for.

This fragrance has haunted me ever since I smelled it at Dubai Airport, didn't buy it because of the price - and then decided I would do on the return journey. Returned into a different terminal where they did not have it!! Finally managed to buy a sample and having enjoyed every drop, knew that I needed to get it. And today it is mine!! I cannot describe the way that it blooms upon the skin but I love the way it envelopes me. The oud is gentle and the ginger subtle. Really not like anything I have ever tried before - and I have tried many!! A new love!!

This reminds somehow of Diptyque fleur peau... I dont know why. I am loving both, but this has something more mature... sexy. Maybe night more than day. Kind of mysterious. It's also very subtle and refined. I can't get enough of it. And would so get another bottle if I ever finish mine. I do not smell oud at all and I consider myself somewhat of an oud connoisseurs... unless this is something that isn't known in the middle east where I learned about oud. I am still deciding what this is... it's more powdery than it is spicy to me.

The best ginger fragrance that I know of on the market. Real oud is present, but not so much that it overpowers the entire fragrance it's a minority partner to the ginger. Cartier (Mathilde Laurent) style which I'm always a fan of, but higher quality than the already good regular ranges. Tried it in a department store and knew I had to get this one day and almost paid retail for it, which is a lot for this line. But I waited a long time for this to hit discounters and managed to snag one finally. Love it.

Extremely elegant ginger I feel this has some elemi for some reason. The composition is grounded with a noticeable yet light oud. Sillage is moderate very safe for office wear or daytime date with the wife. Few fragrances can be fresh and this elegant it’s trickier than it seems kudos to Mathilde Laurent. 10/10 for me. If it’s too pricey Molecule 01 Ginger is a great alternative even fresh over an iso e super base. Alternatively FM’s Uncut Gem which is as notoriously expensive but quite good.

This is a beautiful spicy oud. Quite enjoyable. Ginger is very polished in this. And Sichuan pepper bind oud to ginger beautifully in this. It is not an oud forward fragrance so it's much better for me. The stinger is the price -- it's very expensive for what it is IMO but a bottle would probably last you a lifetime as it's very concentrated and a couple of sprays would go for a long time. Opening and dry-down is quite similar maybe less ginger.

Something in this is really reminding me of Hermes Bel Ami and Roja Fetish. There is definitely a shared DNA, but this Cartier fragrance has a honeyed ginger aspect to it that is a unique twist.

This is beautiful. At first a tad acid, but soon, the oud develops into something vibrant and deep, yet not heavy. It's so vivid I almost can see the grain of the wood. It makes me happy.

Very realistic & refined fresh cut ginger with hints of pepper. It is very aristocratic and classy. Spicy in it nature but has elegance about it that captivates. It is truly a radiant scent and a masterpiece from Cartier. Smelling it from the bottle, can be a bit detergent like (not in a bad way) but upon skin, it warms up immediately and radiates ginger freshness. Performance is excellent and projecting but I can't imagine this worn casually, needs elegance in the appearance and behavior to give it its worth. To me, I think it is versatile and can be worn in any weather but a bit dressed up. Price is astronomical. I am not sure if I like it that much to have a full bottle with that price.

Wow... This scent knocked me off my feet. Tried it at the Cartier store in. Vegas. Very nice... That and the oud santal

i am sniffing this right now while i write this comment. it does smell just of ginger. Not a masterpiece at all, but it is an ok smell, is not too strong but also not soft. It is wearable both by women and men. Is not attractive but also not repelling. An average kind of scent. Would I go out of my way for this perfume? - No. - Does it stand out? - No. - Is it something special? - No. Nothing to love and nothing to hate, just an average smell.

Mostly get ginger and pepper...very authentic and strong ginger...don't really get a sniff of oud until 4 or so hours after application...and to my nose, the oud is very faint. I prefer "Oud & Menthe" in the same line over this one. Oud Radieux is a strong performer vs. Oud Menthe though.

I have to say this was absolutely dismal on me. I got no woods, let alone agarwood. Just a faint, sickly, spicy ginger note that was at best bearable, far from anything that would be considered a good ginger note in perfumery. No offense to Mathilde Laurent who deserves a place at the heart of this luxury brand but, this is just.. unacceptable, really. I'm not even going to comment on the price. Minimal approaches rarely works well in perfumery, Oud Radieux is a prime example of it. Nothing luxury about having abysmal performance (30 minutes) and a stale scent profile. Update: not necessarily a bad ginger note I take that back.

Overrated and exaggerating reviews! A little bearable after 5 hours on skin. Doesn’t perform on fabric at all. It was an instant regret sampling this on both of my arms! People who like Tommy Iommi defied will love this. XD

Oh 😟 lord the ginger is really present and strong. Not a fan of this one really spicy.

Fruitti spices... I'm not sure i got it well, but this is spicy fruits & kind of getting peaches & ginger! at least as a cool down! i need 2 check it again cause the dry down is kind of different than the top note! Edit (15th Dec 2023) I'm not sure what i wrote few weeks ago was legit! i now detect some pepper, nutmeg, dry ginger, and some other spices! i don't detect any oud in here. I don't know bout this blend, sometimes i like and other times when i realize the dosage of pepper it goes quite meh since there is "oud" written but nothing is detected.
