Pur Kinkan

Pur Kinkan is the most satisfying of Cartier's《 Les Épures 》line, but still follows the trend of being very simple and subtle and ultimately, overpriced for what it is. I admire Mathilde Laurent very much as a perfumer, and while I appreciate the theme of simplicity for this line, featuring the use of high-quality ingredients, these scents are nothing special or unusual. Having said that, PK is a refreshing, aromatic scent that seems to feature more than just kumquat. Citrusy, green and aromatic, I get lemongrass, petitgrain and orange here alongside the tart kumquat. It is citrus-forward from initial spray, with a grassy, slightly woody undertone. Like the other offerings from this line, there is very little development before it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Refreshing and rejuvenating throughout, it is uplifting and restorative in the manner of aromatic citrus scents in general. A pleasant, natural-smelling scent, it is unisex and best worn during spring/summer days. Definitely overpriced however. 3.5/5.

Lemon, lemongrass, also something a bit more that is possibly kumquat. Very simple scent. Smells like a tart lemon candy.

I like this one very citrus 🍊 and great for hot summer days.

This is Cartier and Mathilde Laurent we're talking about here. Please up your game. And in the database now there is Mathilde Laurent, and her flanker - Matilde. By the way I would urge someone to do a check on the perfumers database, and do some maintenance. Let me do it, no problem, just give me the rights for a few days.

Very pretty citrus alongside something grassy green. Fresh, airy, carefree. I think Mathilde Laurent sometimes "upcycles" ideas from Cartier's main line fragrances and parlays them into higher quality fragrances for the haute parfumerie lines. Pur Kinkan (love the name) seems to me like an elevated take on Eau de Cartier Zeste de Soleil or Eau de Cartier Essence de Orange. Smells great. Beautiful bottle. But like all citrus freshies, it exists in a crowded marketplace...

Jan 2021 I tested this at the Cartier counter and the SA didnt have the notes breakdown. So I come here to find it and -- of course! -- this site doesnt have it either. First of all, it's way more than just kumquats. It's a fresh, sharp, citrusy scent. I smell lemon?, grapefruit?, definitely lemongrass, and a high quality but rubbery orangeflower. I like Fresh and I like Citrus so I liked this but it was not a $270 for 75ML type of like.

Citrus, lemongrass, & juicy tropical fruit... The drydown gets me into the metallic phase of it! it is citrus fruity metallic blend with lemongrass as i liked it when i first sprayed it but when it calmed down the metallic begun to rise which made it quite unpleasant! This is not the usual citrus blend. Not really with this price tag.

Fresh, airy, refreshing and uplifting for 2-3 hours. Then undetectable and this is very disappointing considering price point.
