Pur Magnolia

"Polite" is a good word for this magnolia, as one of the reviewers below said. The magnolia flowers on our tree can sometimes have a rubbery/sour/acrid edge to them, like privet. Pur Magnolia is not that at all. It's a green glow. On me, this seems to have quite a bit of lily of the valley and green citrus. I also have Pur Muguet; the two scents are so similar I'm not sure I could tell them apart in a blind test. The distinction is that whereas Pur Magnolia carries green citrus, Pur Muguet casts a green banana. Both glow green and both are sublime.

Bright, effervescent and slightly chalky. Almost powdery like orris. Opalescent. Unexpected, ethereal. Sillage is rather shy and longevity is not bad. It's just so close to skin, you might forget you're wearing it. Polite.

Tried a sample of this and I love it. As a man I can see this as unisex. Fresh, citrus, light magnolia scent. This is nice for cool spring day to feel refreshed.

Cartier is quite underrated as a fragrance house in my opinion. Among their older scents are gems like the original Panthère, and with Mathilde Laurent as their current in-house perfumer, Cartier's more recent releases are generally decent, in particular the《 Les Heures 》collection. However, I find《 Les Épures 》a little underwhelming. Featuring very simple compositions with limited performance, they are overpriced for what they are, despite being made with good-quality ingredients. Pur Magnolia is a case in point. A simple citrus-floral scent with a dewy green undertone, it is light, fresh and inoffensive. There is a magnolia bush in my parents' garden, and the sweet creaminess of the blooms is nicely rendered here. The magnolia flower by its nature has a slight fruitiness to it, but here, the citrus is quite strong, with a lemon note overpowering the magnolia somewhat. Linear and simple, it remains a citrus-magnolia scent throughout, with a slight muskiness emerging as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. I think I would like this scent a lot better if it was indeed "pure magnolia", with the magnolia note placed centre-stage and given a chance to shine. Still, the overall composition is decent - subtle and wearable. PM is an elevated floral-fruity that is fresh rather than sweet. An effortless everyday springtime scent, but nothing unusual or particularly exciting. 3/5.

If you're looking for a rich, creamy, waxy magnolia with just a light lemon-citrus just below the surface. This is not it. This is IMHO, citrus, greenish floral, clean magnolia. Polite is a great way to describe this. Strikes me more of a lemon blossom at first. Very nice. But, I prefer the heavy, creamy, rich, dark and sexy magnolia. With just an aire of citrus about it. Just enough to keep the magnolia from going in to "sk*nky-rubber" territory. Lol. This is a very pretty perfume and the quality is definitely good. I will say that. Seems to hang out (longevity) decent enough. But, I think for the price. For a Magnolia scent. I'd rather go with Bvlgari Magnolia Essentielle EDP.

Magnolia is splendid in nature and hard to get right in a perfume. To my nose, what Laurent has achieved here is "DG Light Blue Magnolia." This might well have been the goal, as it is pleasant to be around, clean, and quality. I see where she is going with a fresh interpretation of Magnolia, but feels a little artless in that peculiar Cartier way. There's a Light Blue/Eau d'Issey/CKOne naivete about it, suggesting it's meant for a consumer who may "not like perfume." The lemon/waxy "magnolia" aspect is fleeting, and what's left half an hour in and through the drydown is a 90's-style citrus-fresh-"no perfume" clean laundry fragrance. It's not bad if you like that sort of thing.

A Light, and citrusy floral with sour green fruity like a green apple's rind (or pineapple) but somewhat urinal and ammonia smell from cinnamic nuance... maybe this is for "a living flower's narcotic feeling", but it is too much for me. like Hummingbird of Zoologist is. smells like a cheap air freshner.

Gave a couple of tries and No No No... worst magnolia ever - not fresh and even has that warm dirty, animalistic strong note. Staying power also very weak (it is ok in this case, because I didn’t like it).

on first sniff, it's very dewy, slightly waxy and citrussy. but underneath, it's deeply unpleasant. it has a horrible, sickly sweet smell, just like a bin of used baby wipes in a baby changing room. and once you smell that, it's all you can smell. i've never exactly gone about and smelled an actual magnolia to compare, but i now safely assume that they do smell like dirty baby wipes 1/10

I think Pur Magnolia is the weakest from Cartier's Les Epures line, but I am admittedly not a fan of this scent profile in general. Pur Magnolia opens with a crisp, citrus white floral aroma. As the citrus fades, the non-specific white floral feel carries on to the heart of the perfume, where it is joined by lily-of-the-valley, pulling the composition in a slightly green, slightly metallic direction. In the base, the aforementioned notes are obliterated by cottony, hyper-clean laundry musks. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad! I just happen to like Pure Rose & Pur Kinkan much better. I get it - Magnolia is the trendy flower for the early 2020's. But honestly, this could have been called Pur Freesia just as easily. It does also remind me of another clean musk, freesia perfume from my past: CK Be. 3/5

Good quality but not a fan on the scent profile. This was given to me as a sample from a lady who didn’t seem excited to give me samples with my purchase so there you go.

Citrusy white floral... It's lily of the valley with lilies, magnolias, and some citrus added to it. Kind of whiffs between natural and synthetic floral mix. Meh

Nah not the best magnolia accord magnolia alba chloe is Definitely 100% better
