Pur Muguet

OK, I inadvertently saved the best for last - Pur Muguet is easily my favourite of Cartier's《 Les Épures 》. A well-rendered lily-of-the-valley note is a feat in perfumery, as the natural oil cannot be harvested from the flowers themselves. Edmond Roudnitska was the first to succeed, resulting in the masterpiece that is Diorissimo. I haven't smelled a muguet soliflore as good as vintage Diorissimo - until now. Muguet in perfumes is often obviously synthetic/headache-inducing or simply inaccurate. In PM, however, Mathilde Laurent manages to capture the delicacy of the green-tinged delicate white floral beautifully. Floral from the get-go, PM has a slight fruity edge initially, resembling green bananas, but it subsides, letting the realistic lily-of-the-valley note shine. There is a lovely grassy undertone, enhancing the greenness of the muguet, dewy and realistic. The purity of the flower shines through, and it is light and transparent, like a watercolour rendering of Diorissimo. It fades in under three hours with little progression thereafter, just a beautiful lily-of-the-valley note. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Another excellent creation from the talented Mme. Laurent. The one《 Épure 》worth buying - I just wish the performance was better. Buy this instead of modern Diorissimo. Springtime excellence. 4.5/5.

Wow! What a beautiful scent. It reminds me a lot of Lucky by Christian Dior, but this one is slightly lighter and has a bit more of a grassy green note at the top. It has a watery and grassy quality, with that pure and realistic lily-of-the-valley note dominant almost throughout, apart from at the top. It's simple and linear, but I don't mind that, because it is so beautiful and smells exactly like the beautiful and charming little white flowers that it imitates. It is very feminine, but I could imagine a brave and bold guy with confidence being able to wear this too. The bottle is absolutely stunning and clear crystal, with a beautiful muguet design etched onto it. It lasted about 4 hours on me, with it beginning to dissipate at the 3 hours mark. My only gripe with this perfume is that I wish that it lasted longer!

The best Lily of the Valley perfume in my heart! Before, I didn't like Lily of the Valley, I thought this flower wasn't for me, but actually it was because I hadn't found my true love of Lily of the Valley perfume. Until I smelled this fragrance, I thought to myself: “Oh, are Lily of the Valley really this beautiful?”. This is a divine, pure, holy fragrance, as if it is not entangled with worldly dust, a forest of fragrant Lily of the Valley. It seems faint but makes others miss her every time they pass by her. I bought two bottles to save, it's hard to describe how much I love this fragrance. Rating: 10/10, the scent of a muse

I received this bottle by mistake as Cartier was supposed to send me Pur Magnolia. But it is a wonderful scent (I quite like LotV). The top notes have an additional soft green blast, which smells like green bananas and sweet grass. I agree that the sillage and longevity are quite surprising given that this is such a delicate scent. By far, this is the most luxurious lily-of-the-valley scent I have ever worn. I wouldn’t say it is feminine though, as the green notes keep it fairly unisex. The more I wear it, the more I love it. Plus, i’s a good sent to spray on the sheets and all over your body right before you get into bed.

Fantastic lily of the valley. Comparison with Diorissimo is inevitable, so the flower is clear and instantly recognisable yet somehow different from the ancestor. It's the context, the staging; Diorissimo is realistic lily of the valley after the rain in the woods, while Pur Muguet is equally wet but less cold and surrounded by mist or fog. Very much like photography with a delicate flower in big plan and blury everything else, unimportant. Or like having impressionist painting as a background. The artistry is exquisite. Sillage is impressive and unexpected but the flower still feels delicate. Gorgeous.
