Pur Muguet

OK, I inadvertently saved the best for last - Pur Muguet is easily my favourite of Cartier's《 Les Épures 》. A well-rendered lily-of-the-valley note is a feat in perfumery, as the natural oil cannot be harvested from the flowers themselves. Edmond Roudnitska was the first to succeed, resulting in the masterpiece that is Diorissimo. I haven't smelled a muguet soliflore as good as vintage Diorissimo - until now. Muguet in perfumes is often obviously synthetic/headache-inducing or simply inaccurate. In PM, however, Mathilde Laurent manages to capture the delicacy of the green-tinged delicate white floral beautifully. Floral from the get-go, PM has a slight fruity edge initially, resembling green bananas, but it subsides, letting the realistic lily-of-the-valley note shine. There is a lovely grassy undertone, enhancing the greenness of the muguet, dewy and realistic. The purity of the flower shines through, and it is light and transparent, like a watercolour rendering of Diorissimo. It fades in under three hours with little progression thereafter, just a beautiful lily-of-the-valley note. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Another excellent creation from the talented Mme. Laurent. The one《 Épure 》worth buying - I just wish the performance was better. Buy this instead of modern Diorissimo. Springtime excellence. 4.5/5.

Wow! What a beautiful scent. It reminds me a lot of Lucky by Christian Dior, but this one is slightly lighter and has a bit more of a grassy green note at the top. It has a watery and grassy quality, with that pure and realistic lily-of-the-valley note dominant almost throughout, apart from at the top. It's simple and linear, but I don't mind that, because it is so beautiful and smells exactly like the beautiful and charming little white flowers that it imitates. It is very feminine, but I could imagine a brave and bold guy with confidence being able to wear this too. The bottle is absolutely stunning and clear crystal, with a beautiful muguet design etched onto it. It lasted about 4 hours on me, with it beginning to dissipate at the 3 hours mark. My only gripe with this perfume is that I wish that it lasted longer!

The best Lily of the Valley perfume in my heart! Before, I didn't like Lily of the Valley, I thought this flower wasn't for me, but actually it was because I hadn't found my true love of Lily of the Valley perfume. Until I smelled this fragrance, I thought to myself: “Oh, are Lily of the Valley really this beautiful?”. This is a divine, pure, holy fragrance, as if it is not entangled with worldly dust, a forest of fragrant Lily of the Valley. It seems faint but makes others miss her every time they pass by her. I bought two bottles to save, it's hard to describe how much I love this fragrance. Rating: 10/10, the scent of a muse

I received this bottle by mistake as Cartier was supposed to send me Pur Magnolia. But it is a wonderful scent (I quite like LotV). The top notes have an additional soft green blast, which smells like green bananas and sweet grass. I agree that the sillage and longevity are quite surprising given that this is such a delicate scent. By far, this is the most luxurious lily-of-the-valley scent I have ever worn. I wouldn’t say it is feminine though, as the green notes keep it fairly unisex. The more I wear it, the more I love it. Plus, i’s a good sent to spray on the sheets and all over your body right before you get into bed.

Fantastic lily of the valley. Comparison with Diorissimo is inevitable, so the flower is clear and instantly recognisable yet somehow different from the ancestor. It's the context, the staging; Diorissimo is realistic lily of the valley after the rain in the woods, while Pur Muguet is equally wet but less cold and surrounded by mist or fog. Very much like photography with a delicate flower in big plan and blury everything else, unimportant. Or like having impressionist painting as a background. The artistry is exquisite. Sillage is impressive and unexpected but the flower still feels delicate. Gorgeous.

pure lily. so fresh, so uplifting - very bright and green, but i also smell the sweet, heady nectar that real lilies have. it's impressively photorealistic to actual lilies, a flower and scent that are very precious to me personally, so it's nice to smell such an accurate and beautiful rendition of that. 7.5/10 serene, delicate and beautiful. sadly bloody pricey for what it is and how it performs, but i might have to get a bottle just for personal, comfort reasons.

What a delightful surprise that I won this from Fragrantica—thank you so much! I love both white florals and green notes, so this hit all the right notes for me. I feel like I'm smelling not just the lily-of-the-valley flowers, but also the cut stems. It's delicate, natural, realistic, and dewy. Such a lovely fragrance and bottle. Magical. I think this just might be what the real Tinker Bell smells like!

Your search of a perfect lilly of the valley scent is over - this is it. Uber realistic lilly of the valley. Light, fresh, crisp, natural and delicate. Not the synthetic or vintage lilly of the valley that you may dread. Easily my favorite from the line (followed by Rose and Kinkan). Cute bottle. Muguet by Guerlain may be a competitor but I haven't tried it yet and it's not easily accessible.

I tested all three new releases in Vienna. I loved this one the best. It is a spring in a bottle, very realistic lilly of the valley. It is uplifting and fresh. On skin it did not last long, but on paper it was better.

Yes it is a good substitute for Guerlain's annual Muguet; however, I found SMN Mughetto to be even more beautiful! This is just a little too green for me—I prefer flowers without leaves (in smell).

feminine floral green that’s very tastefully done, not a photorealistic green but it has that grassy freshness complimented by floral notes

I had high hopes for this perfume, loving Cartier's lily forward Baiser Vole and encouraged by the positive comments, I was sure I would find that Cartier's perfumers had done wonders once again with the lily of the valley note- I was sorely disappointed. Perhaps there is such a thing as fragrance notes being too realistic, because I could not imagine wanting to smell this way to anybody. It was if I had stuck my nose in grass and lily of the valley cuttings, and I could find no beauty in it. On a normal day, I adore green florals, but this was entirely something not quite the lily of the valley floral I had high hopes for. The dry down was more tolerable, the grassy note faded, but still, I could not smell what other reviewers seemed to have smelt, perhaps you will need to test it before you buy it to form your own opinions. For its price tag, sorely disappointed am I.

This is too green for me- not floral enough. I actually like the Yardley Lily of the Valley much better than this!

Smells like a fresh lemon grass

Beautiful composition of hyper realistic green notes and delicate lily of the valley. At first spray it is a bit pungent almost like freshly cut grass and maybe a touch of unripe green bananas. Once it airs out the becomes softer and floral. Overall is it a simple scent which is fine, if something is this beautiful it doesn't have to be loud and fussy with unnecessary notes or baggage. When the quality is this extraordinary all you need is a spray or two and let this work its wonders. The cost is sky high, but you get what you pay for. Extraordinary in every way.

I don’t think it’s easy to get lily right. Usually they smell either generic or very chemical heavy in most scents .... But cartier surely knows how to hold its magic .... For me baiser vole was the first scent that made me fall in “love” with the lily note. I usually find it repulsive and cloying eg (lucky by dior) but Cartier changed the game ... And with this one they absolutely managed to make me fall in love with lilies all over again. It’s feminine, its beautiful and it smells divine. Pur Muguet is an absolutely wonderful, fresh fragrance that is equal parts fresh dewy green notes and crisp, clean white floral. It also has an invigorating and fresh bergamot opening. It is a really wonderful lily of the valley, as it give you everything you want (green, clean, crisp, innocent, fresh, springlike) and nothing you don't (staid, metallic, piercing, heavy, matronly, synthetic) from the flower. It has fresh, cool, watery, spa-like attributes, but also ozonic, airy, even ethereal qualities. It's unisex.

I tested this at Bloomingdales today. I was blown away at how feminine and beautiful this fragrance is. I cannot justify paying $280 for it. If I cannot find it from a discounter I might bite the bullet next summer. Looking for the perfect Lilly of the valley? This is it! Look no more.

A well-balanced and well-blended muguet soliflore. quite a green, less narcotic than usual muguet works (means not like Diorissimo). Somewhat "new muguet" chemicals feeling, they smell like a new-built concrete. (Lilyflore or Lilybelle)

Lily of the valley... Fresh from the field to your nose lily of the valley with doses of watery dew grass and a touch of its earthy roots to make it smell very fresh, & natural.

So pretty, smells like fresh green lilys, the stem and all omg but it is so overpriced!

At the moment this is my favourite from the line. Very wearable and natural smelling.
