Pure Rose

I'm glad that Fragrantica has finally added this scent. I have tested this scent and other scents from this line at Bloomingdale's in the summer. I must say it's one of my top 5 rose scents I've ever smelled. Usually, I am a little afraid of trying new rose scents because rose-dominant scents are not my style. However, this one is not the type of vintage, heavy, strong, mature or overpowering rose. Pure Rose is a beautiful, light, ethereal and transparent type of rose. The packaging - transparent bottle, white cap with a light pink string - may give you a hint of style and what type of scent is in the bottle. The scent is versatile and safe: I would wear it to work, on a date, and for casual occasions and to formal events. It's pleasant, fresh, youthful, feminine and dainty. Lovely for spring and summer. What does it remind me of? If I had to give you an idea of the type of rose that is in this scent, it'd be similar to Maison Francis Kurkdijan A La Rose L'Eau, Roger & Gallet Rose, and perhaps Byredo Young Rose. If you liked these scents, you can probably blind-buy Pure Rose. I am impressed with this scent to the point where I'm planning to purchase a travel set that includes this scent, Pur Muget and Pur Magnolia, which I also liked a lot. This line is different from most of Cartier scents that have more classic vibe and are stronger. Les Épures de Parfum line may also appeal to younger crowds or those who are looking for lighter, 'easy reach' type of scents, and East Asian market.

There is a lot more going on here than just rose. In the opening, I get a parfait of pink and red rose petals with a smattering of fresh, aromatic geranium - sprinkled with lemon juice & crystalline sugar. Almost a bit bubblegum-like, but very pleasant. As it progresses, it becomes slightly greener, and a tropical fruit (passionfruit? lychee?) emerges alongside the rose. There is a VERY soft musk aspect, which feels a little bit woody and salty. In the dry down, Pure Rose is a fresh, creamy, happy, slightly fruity pink rose. Perfect for spring and summer. Really beautiful and full bottle worthy!

I am a fan of Cartier perfumes, and Mathilde Laurent as a perfumer, but I find《 Les Épures 》to be underwhelming and overpriced, despite being wearable and good-quality. Pure Rose seems like an apt choice for the day that's in it (Valentine's Day), and while it is pretty and nicely rendered, it is certainly overpriced. Pure Rose is (unsurprisingly) a rose soliflore, fresh and transparent with limited longevity. The rose is realistic and dewy, reminiscent of rosewater but suspended in ethanol. It is slightly green, but not thin or harsh - it smells like rose petals sprinkled with raindrops. It doesn't progress at all, and fades to nothing in under three hours. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A pale pink rose in a bottle, PR is dewy and realistic, but ultimately pointless. Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose is pretty much the same thing for a fraction of the price. Still, a fresh spring/summer rose, wearable and pleasant throughout. 3/5.

Strong rose but not in a good way it smells like rose with tomato 😅

Brutally realistic rose, with the subtle natural sweetness that leans powdery and a strong green stem-like accord. Doesn't come off as too synthetic in-spite of the sharpness of its greenery. Very lovely creation, it stands out from the many roses I've tried as a true realistic rose as opposed to the many that claim to be that but end up being too sweet or too powdery, this isn't rose oil, but the actual rose. Much like Cartier's other luxury works, it has amazing blending and ingredient quality, yet still doesn't follow trendy accords, instead creating its own unique take on them.
