Carven L'Eau Intense

Today I was desperate to make a wrotten vegetables sickly smell disappear. I caught it on the sidewalk as I was about to get into my office. The smell was so bad that my stomach was totally upset. What a giant nausea! I remembered then that I had left my summer Carven in the office. As soon as I reached my space, I picked up the white bottle of L'Eau Intense and applied 2 sprays on my chest and one into the air that formed a cloud of droplets around me. ................. inbreathe fresh air .................. Wow! A fizzy, bubbling, minty, citrusy, fresh and clean burst. It did work, and a lot better and faster than rolaids. Suddenly a sentence arised to my mind: "Carven!.... that's how you spell relief!" (N) Of course I don't advise you to use L'Eau Intense as an air freshner, nor rolaids to cure bad scents! Carven L'Eau Intense is positioned in the same BLUE market segment as Invictus Aqua, Legend Spirit, Hawas, Dylan Blue, Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage, Eros, Mr Burberry, Icon Racing, Mauboussin Private Club, Oxford Bleu and Bentley Black Edition. Nevertheless it's not similar to any of them except Bentley Black Edition. L'Eau Intense is woodier (deep forest scent), fresher, less sweet and a bit greener. The initial clean scent gets a little dirtier later on, probably due to the birch note. The lavender you get during the development is nice and strong as well. The drydown it's rather common and you get some cardamom with amber, and unidentified woods. Its greeness endures in all development stages. It's a very nice scent but with a polarity of the hate/love kind. i like very much to use it with warm weather when I am in the mood of using a lesser sweet scent. Longevity and Sillage are a bit above average for this type of fresh fragrance. How does L'Eau Intense copes with ratings? - Scent opening:.8.75 - Scent Dry Down:.8.25 - Longevity:.8.0 (up to 7 hours on my skin, with 3 sprays) - Sillage:.8.0 (sillage peaks up to 5 feet; projects heavily for 2.0 hours) - Versatility:.7.5 (avoid any type of cold temperatures) - Usability:.7.0 (ideal for open air activities and gym; Fantastic for informal gatherings, dates and intimacy) - Compliments:.8.5 (This scent competes with other alluring BLUE fragrances and may be a compliment magnet. You will smell elegant, clean, fresh and sexy, but not cute due to the lower sugar level of the fragrance) - Uniqueness:.9.0 (I believe it's not a unique scent but I don't make any associations with other fragrances. People claim it's similar to Creed Himalaya but I never tried that one. I have some douts about that association due to the different notes listing. EDIT: Recently I found a remarkable similarity with the just launched Bentley Black Edition) - Quality:.9.0 (High quality ingredients; gorgeous heavy glass bottle, great spray and cap) - Presentation:.9.0 (really beautifully shaped bottle, extremely well designed details) - Price:.8.5 (€ 21 + taxes for a 100 ml tester flask) - Average::.8.32/10.00 between 7 and 8 => above average; between 8 and 9 => recommended; equal or bigger than 9 => don't miss it; Opinion on "L'Eau Intense": Fresh, clean and blue! I find L'Eau Intense as a less sweet but very interesting member of the BLUE family group. Other members include Invictus Aqua, Legend Spirit, Hawas, Dylan Blue, Bleu de Chanel, Sauvage, Eros, Mr Burberry, Icon Racing, Mauboussin Private Club, Oxford Bleu and Bentley Black Edition (and their clones as well). EDIT: Just a small edit. After spraying this on after a shower today and giving it a ride on my skin now for about 7 hours, I gotta say I am warming up to this fragrance quite a bit. I still think it has some similarities to the floral aspect in Reflection Man (and Bright Neroli to a lesser extent), but this is done WAY better IMO (it is not identical, don't think that, but there is a particular floral aspect that is very similar). The lavender in this is certainly the front and center focalpoint of this fragrance, and it is blended remarkably smoothly to the point where you can clearly smell it throughout the fragrance, but is never too pungent, loud or cloying. I understand now when E says: "This one kind of smells like a mass pleasing niche fragrance". Because it really does. In fact of all the hundreds of fragrances I own, none of them give me this same style of lavender, it is totally unique for me. As of now I'm really taking a liking to this. Plus I am getting very solid performance out of this one (at least on my first wearing), As 7 hours in I still get noticeable whiffs. And the drydown is quite unlike the vast majority of mens fragrances available these days, as the super smooth lavender pretty much keeps on going through the life of the scent and almost takes on a bit of a soapy aspect as the hours go by. It's really quite pleasing and different. And I look forward to giving this one many more wearings over the spring (BTW, this is such a perfect spring scent). [Original Initial impression below] I just got this one in the mail today as a blind buy due to E's review, honestly I am a bit surprised by the initial impression, this one to me is very floral. Floral as in Reflection Man style of floral, or Ferrari Bright Neroli style of floral. Based on the notes, that is the last style of smell I was expecting out of this one. I'll need more time to properly dissect the scent, but my initial thoughts paint a picture in my head of what this smells like: Imagine mixing Reflection Man with Bright Neroili, then add a splash of mint plus juicy and fruity citruses to the top. It's not bad by any means, and for people who like that very specific floral smell of Reflection Man (or Bright Neroli) will LOVE this one, guaranteed. Personally I am not a big fan of this floral style of smell (at least on initial spray/smell), but I'll give it a good effort over the days/weeks to see where it stands for me.

A fresh, fairly strong, semi-sweet mint and lavender fragrance with a subtle pepper accord on the back end. This is an excellent "dumb reach" kind of scent that I wear very often to work and when I'm just hanging out in a casual situation. It smells good, doesn't have any abrasive or sharp synthetics, and has excellent performance. It's clean, and gives off a nice, upbeat and optimistic impression. Unfortunately, L'Eau Intense is very hard to find at discounters in the United States. When I have found it, it's always been sold as a tester or an unboxed 1.7oz. bottle. So if you want a new, 100ml retail bottle, you have to go to Nordstrom or Bloomingdales (the only places that I've found stock it) and pay full retail. But it's totally worth it, in my opinion, as it's not only a solid, high performing scent, it's also extremely versatile, so you'll find plenty of reasons and days to wear it. I find that L'Eau Intense has above average projection and lasts for 6--8 hours or longer as a skin scent. I do receive compliments when I wear it, so apparently it's appealing to others as well. It's housed in an elegant, simple white and clear-backed bottle, and generally runs for $75 for a 50ml bottle and $95 for a 100ml. Overall, I give L'Eau Intense a high score of 9/10 as it's really become a favorite of mine and possibly my most often-worn scent. A must for mint lovers and recommended as a blind buy if you can find it at a discount. Otherwise, sample first. Thumbs up. EDIT: As of today, 12/08/17, 100ml bottles are appearing on eBay for about $75, which is the best price I've found so far. UPDATE: 4/26/18: L'Eau Intense is showing up a little more frequently online in the USA and I've even found some new, 100ml bottles for under $50 (around February or early March). So if you do some digging, you might be able to find it for a really good price. Of course I still think it's worth retail, but it would definitely make sense to look for it at a discount first.

Well I feel privileged to be the first reviewer of this scent because it exudes a confident charm. The fact that Francis Kurkdjian is a collaborator is not surprising at all because this has the mark of MFK style perfumes like APOM or Amyris. I'm very suprised there's no white florals listed in the notes here because after a gorgeously fresh opening of citruses and a hint of ginger there's a core of pure orange blossom/neroli. These elements are tempered very well indeed because usually not my cup of tea I find them elegant and respectfully handled. I can see how the soapy spice of cardamom could be a big player in the overall sensation the fragrance gives. Additionally the boost of that waxy floral core serves to prolong the bitter citrus top note of grapefruit making the freshness not a brief flirtation but a more lasting affair. The drydown is warmer too, compared to something in a similar vein...let's say Mugler Cologne and that is perhaps some of that amber coming through? I really can't say for sure but it definitely behaves better on my skin that many seemingly similar fragrances. I'm wearing it today and find it massively enjoyable even more so than the occasional dip into MFK samples. Carven L'eau Intense strikes up a really good balance and that to me is what makes a good fragrance, even when it contains less of my favourite notes. Longevity I can tell already is going to be fairly good for such a delicate scent, especially when it gets on clothes. (I suppose that's not really saying much as most things last on clothing but you know what I mean.) I'm singing L'eau Intense's praises then and about time because I wasn't that keen on the last two revamped releases. This one is a must try and (I'm assuming?) a cheaper alternative for MFK fans.

So it's fair to say that spring, in the UK, has been delayed buy at least a month or so but that didn't stop me from wearing Carven L'Eau Intense (I think it's a summer fragrance). The minty notes coupled with fresh lemon and grapefruit brightened up my day for sure. Walking in to work confronted with ear to ear smiles and the occasional "Hmm you smile nice" makes it easier to bare the delay to summer. I'm not too keen on the cap because it doesn't come off with ease like Dior Sauvage EDT(most practical bottle cap ever in my humble opinion). Moving on to the sexy juice.. The top notes dissipate into hints of birch leaves and lavender. It stays there until you know that they are there. Relishing in the middle notes for 20mins before the cardamom and cedar wood give you a silky slap. This is fragrance ride goes on as long as a good fragrance should but for me I need a top up every 3 hours remind myself how gorgeous the top notes are. You can blind buy this any day of the week and twice on a Sunday. Will I feel that same in months to come? I can't imagine tiring of this. Sillage - 7/10 Longevity - 7/10 ( Only because I want more but a fair grade would be 8) Scent - 8.99/10

I must resubmit my review after a summer having Carven Intense in my rotation. What a fantastic modern fresh fragrance! It simply smells great. I get, in descending order of strength, alternating citrus, floral, woody, and spicy accords, all well blended. I get facets of each throughout the day, making me think it’s several different fragrances I’m smelling. Now to respond to several reviews below calling this is a generic mall scent, I disagree. First, there is complexity here, more than, say, Polo (insert color) due to the juxtaposition of fresh citrus, mellow birch, soft florals and mild spices. It’s a designer scent without the “usual” suspects: aquatic notes, ambroxan, vanilla, tonka, pepper, musk or vetiver, so it won’t vividly remind you of anything with those notes. I’m not getting the barbershop references either- unless anything with lavender is classified as “barbershop” these days - no, this is a contemporary, unique, clean, warm weather gem. Longevity is on the good side of average for a fresh scent. I don’t believe this is widely distributed, so you will smell great AND unique-unlike the herd of guys wearing generic mall scents, lol.

Better buy this one now while it's cheap. If you love mint, then there's a good chance you'll love this fragrance. One of the best mint notes out there. I agree with others who also find citrus, lavender, birch and ginger prominent in this. I also get a touch of sweetness in the drydown but can't quite pinpoint where it's coming from, maybe the amber? Hadn't thought of it as a "barbershop" type of scent, but seeing other reviews mention it I can understand where they're coming from. It's a very clean but spicy fragrance. I usually get poorer longevity and performance than the average fragrance connoisseur due to dry skin, but this one lasts 6-8 hours on my skin, projects for about 2 hours, and has drawn a couple of compliments (which I don't get often) from the opposite sex, so that's a bonus if you're into that. You can currently get testers of this for under $30. At that price, this is a no-brainer, low risk blind buy in my opinion. One of the best "dumb reach" scents for summmer. For that matter, I can see where it could also easily be someone's signature fragrance. Longevity 7/10 Projection 7/10 Sillage 8/10 Overall smell 9/10

This an absolutely beautiful green minty fougere fragrance created by the famous French perfumer Francis Kurkidjian. It is blended in a similar way to Kurkidjian's niche aqua fragrances, but smells extremely similar to another favourite of mine - Acqua di Parma Colonia Club (Colonia Club goes in the direction of spearmint with lemon in the drydown, preserving Acqua di Parma's traditional colonia base, while Carven L'eau Intense goes in the direction of spearmint with birch tar and lavender, and a hint of cardamom to sweeten it out). I can't believe this was only around $20 online. It opens with a bright and strong dose of spearmint with citrus fruits, and as it dries down the spearmint note persists along with a green smelling natural lavender note. It is green, fresh, minty, and herbal in nature without being too old-school. Projection is moderate while longevity is fairly great at 4 hours of solid projection and many more hours after that as a skin scent (roughly the same though very slightly less longevity than AdP Colonia Club). Overall I am very impressed by this scent. 5/5

This is a hidden gem based on my initial smell test, 1 spray on wrist (first hour). Not blind buy safe as it is unlike anything I’ve ever smelled, but very pleasant to my nose. Versatile for any season or occasion but would shine best in the spring and summer. Probably best for a male +30yrs but not an older man +60yrs. Then again, wear whatever you like. This is a refreshing scent, if you close your eyes you might be taken to a evening dinner at a costal town, not that it’s beachy in any way but that’s the best way I can describe where this would be the ideal scenario. 8/10 rating for me. If you find this discontinued gem under $80 and it doesn’t hurt your pocket, I’d take the risk and acquire this. Update: I can see how the opening might be unpleasant for some but the dry down is better. 2nd update- after 4 full day wears, something about this doesn’t sit well with my stomach. Not for me

Yes! This is a freshie done right! I can't walk by this at Von Maur without spraying this and sniffing it like a narco K9 sniffing a bag of cocaine. I love it so much! Might be my new favorite fresh fragrance for men. And let me just I was not surprised at all to see that Francis Kurkdijan had his hands in this one. The guy is killing it! Love the blend of citrus and spices with amber, birch, and cedar. But I feel that the secret sauce that makes this whole thing next level is the addition of mint that gives the top notes a bit of lift and provides a different kind of freshness than just citrus and florals provide in most freshies. This tops of my list right now of fragrances to buy, but I'll probably wait until spring. Absolutely lovely! 10/10

To the guy below me... *(deleted comment)* Man you're so wrong. Honestly there's nothing to dislike about this fragrance at all, this is the definition of a safe fragrance, however still unique enough to be worth buying. I'm also not a fan of freshies, but this is an outstanding fragrance for a freshie, and in general! Performance is fantastic, it lasts 8+ hours. Got mine for $30AUD new in the box. Everyone who's smelt it has loved it. Mint, lavender and lemon, how can you honestly hate that?? It's a better version of Blu De Chanel. Maybe you got a bad batch or something because your review just doesn't compute. This is one of the best summer scents I've ever experienced.

Let me just say that I know that people have different tastes and that smell sometimes is just subjective. However, when people say that this is just another generic fragrance that they've smelled before, I just don't get it. I have over 200 fragrances in my collection ranging from 10.00 to over 400.00 and I can say if Amouage or Tom Ford (private blend) had this juice in it, people would be raving about it. Is it the best fragrance ever, No. Is it the best mint based summer freshie for the money, absolutely. It's a well-crafted, long-lasting aromatic that would run neck and neck with the best of them. Seriously, for 20-30 bucks, you can't go wrong. 9/10

I wonder why this one is not talked about more. This is such a beautiful, refreshing, minty fragrance. Perfect fragrance for the transition of spring to summer. It might be a bit too loud for the summer, but I can image people rocking this. Be easy on the sprays though. For me, the mint, lavender, birch and ginger are the most prominent notes. However, none of them stand out and are blended masterfully. Scent: 8/10 Projection: 9/10 (Projects for a good 3 hours) Sillage: 9/10 Longevity: 10/10 (12h+, I can smell myself all day) Versatility 7/10 (Spring and summer) Uniqueness: 9/10 Price-performance: 8/10 (€50-ish/100ml) Total: Solid 8

I get a sharp green note (maybe the birch leaf) right off the bat combined with some spice, likely the cardamom and ginger. I can see how one could interpret this as mint. To my nose there's no citrus. The scent is a bit linear and as it dries down the cedar and slight sweetness come out to play with the opening notes. Sadly, the longevity on me is 3 hours tops. It's a rather intoxicating blend I just wish it lasted longer. I quite like the sharpness of this product, it isn't harsh or synthetic and the 'mint' or green note isn't of the mouthwash, toothpaste, toilet cleaner variety.

Carven L'Eau Intense opens up super bright and impactful...robust citrus and fresh mint. It softens after a few minutes, but it remains fresh throughout. I get all the notes listed here, but most prominent to my nose is the cardamom, one of my favorites. The amber gives it a little sweetness. The citrus and lavender keep things crisp. I think this is a modern interpretation of a classic gentleman's cologne. I could imagine this on a Great Gatsby type. I also think this would smell amazing on a woman. I always enjoy wearing this, it makes me happy. Love this stuff.

I got this as a blind buy because I wanted a soapy fragrance and a minty fragrance in my collection and with the price point I wasn't too worried if I didn't like it. At first I was not vibing with it and couldn't figure out why, I liked all the notes and it has an elegant, clean, and assured aura. Being female I was spraying it like a traditional woman's perfume, to my pulse points and hair. I switched it up and did a more traditional male spray to chest and pits and wow! this juice came alive. IT LOVES HEAT. I will be reaching for this a lot as the temps warm.

Minty sharp freshness with lavender and soft woods giving it a definite close resemblance to Faconnable - one of my favourites. Longevity and projection are both excellent (6 hours or more with a couple of modest sprays on skin or clothes) - you will be noticed and probably complimented for smelling clean, fresh and chic. It's a very good one for spring, and probably summer too, for office or daytime casual wear. The bottle is gorgeous (like the latest Carven Vetiver and Pour Homme offerings). A definite recommendation from me!

This is an instant love for me! The grapefruit and mint combo is sublime and works with the woody, amber drydown in the later stages perfectly, creating a warm smoothness behind the sharp citrus. Excellently blended and quite unique to my nose. Perfect for Summer and Spring in any situation, you could rock this in a suit or shorts day or night.Excellent longevity and sillage. I wore this today for work and got 8 hours + from 4 sprays. Another gem from MFK at an affordable price!! Seriously, check this one out.... 8/10

completely agreed with raysmooth, opening is bit harsh, but after 1-2 hours, the scent is so so delicious, fresh, and comforting. 28 - 07 - 2018 edit : after sometime of using this frag, i have to add, this juice is marvelous as in dry down and base. Opening is not bad, but bit strong and based of this strentgh ppl might have some negative immediate opinions but once it is let this juice shift in dry down phase, then the WOW OMG period kicks off in. One of the best summery juice i have ever had. grats carven
