Paris Mascate

This is quite a unique fragrance. Very dusty and powdery,overwhelmingly heavy, monolithic. It's like an ancient Byzantine column during a sandstorm :) wearing it makes me feel very very old, heavy and full of physical strenght but sometimes it's just too much to bear and it pulls me to the ground, takes over me and tries to suffocate :) It has much of an oriental vibe, similar to S.H.Lucas Khol de Bahrein but much thicker, heavier, agressive. Hard to pick up single notes. It's resinous, balsamic and aromatic, smoothed by vanilla but not too sweet. Melts into the skin very naturally, I guess for some it might be considered sexy, I still can't decide :) Sillage- enormous in first 2-3hrs, than turns to skin scent. Overall longetivity is about 5h. Alert- this is a true potential migreine inducer, don't blindbuy.

This scent is like nothing else I've tried. Very refined, no-nonsense dry amber, soft spice and a hint of vanilla but there is absolutely nothing sweet about it. For cold weather only - this goes well with a rich cashmere sweater (and feels like wearing one). Lasts ages - I've had my bottle for four winters of regular use and there's over 3/4 still left. I sometimes layer this with a clean-smelling floral to give it some airiness (mimosa or tulip notes work well over this).

Layer it with Junoon from Al Haramain and thank me later. Absolutely exquisite!!!

If very dry amber is your thing, you won't find much better than this.

A True old school Amber Scent! Smells vintage, like a Dustier Rosier version of Shalimar. Except Shalimar has more lemon and citrus than this one. I only bought it because it was discounted. And I can tell it’s probably gonna be a very hard pick to wear. Still, something about it just moved me. But something is missing, Maybe a liquor note?! That would’ve made it more Noir. Or like one of the commenters said, mixing it with something clean and fresh would help give it some airiness. This fragrance is thick, and i’m not talking about its performance. In the right occasion, mixed with the right fragrance , this could be a great scent. On its own... let’s just, say it’s not a well rounded fragrance.

So.. this does not have civet? To me, this is a dark musty amber reminiscent of Bal a Versailles. A heavy scent - perhaps better in the deep winter. I love amber but this is heavy, vintage like- as if the amber was created in tombs by a civet. UPDATE I just read an article that stated this should remind you of a luxury vintage lipstick - well BINGO! they nailed that scent.

Saffron, & roses. This is all about roses, and a blast of saffron, cardamom, patchouli, and geranium then softened by tonka beans while the amber is there but not that dominant like the saffron, & the patchouli. The amber in here is dusty amber that created the haze of dust with the combination of amber and cardamom, roses, and patchouli. This does have that slight Arabian touch but not overly Arabian rather than French with an Arabian touch. Interesting.

Wow this reminds me of something else so much! Jean Nate? It’s got a hint of hairspray in the opening but it’s a nice powdery amber with some citrus in it. At the end of the day, it’s deep rich, gorgeous amber. Liking it even with the powdery aspects. It reminds me of Carthusia Ligea, actually. Tried them side by side and this is richer and more mellow at the end, which is saying something because I do like Ligea a lot for it's comfort vibe.
