Vert et Blanc

*Vert et Blanc* parfum/extrait review I recently purchased a 1 fluid ounce (28 cc) flacon of the vintage parfum, box was still cello sealed, circa mid 1980's? I imagine one of the last batches produced, bottle was still un-opened although after removing the lid & protective tissue packing I detected through the sealed stopper membrane galbanum, oak moss and oceanic bold & rich natural ambergris, this is high quality juice, I believe it's discontinuation was due to the sky rocketing prices and scarcity of the raw materials used in producing this awesome & extremely rare fragrance by 'Carven' I find this slightly similar to Miss Dior(another definite favorite), Vert et Blanc is greener & more herbal with a slight medicinal anisic note (Lolita Lempicka x Ma Griffe?)) in the drydown, the natural ambergris used here is richly marine/ozonic while giving off a lush, salty/buttery popcorn note at the same time??? This 'Carven' parfum is perfectly blended & utterly gorgeous! The cost of authentic re-formulation would be staunchly prohibitive!!!

Among a lot of vintage perfumes I got from a friend at work, I found one small 1/6 fl. oz in cellophane box, and a large bottle of edc. I tried both. The had faded a bit, so the aldehydes were not so noticeable, but the oak moss was there, and a lot of other notes were detectable. This juice truly lives up to the name: galbanum, which gives distinct green notes, on my skin it smells like Angelica/Fennel, almost leaning towards a subtle celeryish tone, but in a good way, and clary sage. And then the white gardenia together with well matured, white, creamy and salty Ambergris. In the bag I also found Ma Griffe, and there are sisterly notes there of galbanum, and the crisp, green and woody dry down that just leaves me stunned, and keeps me sniffing my arms. My, oh my, this weekend has been a total olfactory euphoria.

I feel closer to her spirit wearing this. I have a grasp of what she smelt like and the atmosphere of her smoky mind.

Vert et Blanc opens pleasantly drab with oakmoss and aldehydes; a nice olive-beige note, neat and dry and civilized yet earthy-natural. Then I get a lovely, dreaming, warm gardenia-ylang, a cloud of innocent romanticism. it’s less “green and white” than olive-drab and butter-yellow, but they still make a gorgeous pairing. It’s amazingly human and natural for a fifties perfume — not overly formal at all — but that’s Cellier for you. Fearless.

this actually comes as pure parfum as well (extrait) and parfum de toilette. Still saving up to buy a bottle. I have heard that this smells like an interpretation of "Miss Dior" vintage, but i am not sure, maybe someone who actually owns the bottle may write a proper review for this classic. I am sure this one is great like all the rest of Carvens.
