1888

Before adding 1888 from Xerjoff Casamorati line into my collection, I heard a lot of good things about it and went ahead, blind bought it when I got a chance. This is my 2nd Casamorati after Mefisto, which I love, and wow, it didn't disappoint! Casamorati 1888 is not just an ordinary fizzy root beer, it's the best childhood memories of root beer float at A&W (if you don't know what that is please google it because I can't even...) that you were only allowed to have when you did something good. So you can imagine how happy I am wearing this perfume for the first time today. From the note list, I'm aware that there's no vanilla in it but I picked a hint of it lingers in the back ground, also there's some yummy burnt caramel popping up from time to time when I moved and got a whiff of it and it's just so good! Maybe because of amber and sandalwood in the base note that's quite prominent, it rounds up the whole composition beautifully with birch and patchouli. Funny thing is I can't really see this as a floral scent as I couldn't really feel the carnation or ylang ylang's presence there (and that's a good thing to me), maybe a little bit of Niroli which contributes on the fizzy feeling, and just a tiny bit of rose. On performance I would say it's very decent. I got around 8 hours+, sillage is very good too but I might just also oversprayed it (unintentionally of course). So this is definitely a keeper for me. It's that type of fragrance that you thought it's good in the beginning and later on it just keeps getting better and better through out the day. I wouldn't recommend a blind buy though. I can see why people would have a total different perception on this one. However, it's quite nostalgic, that's for sure. ;)

This is simply gorgeous. Beautiful melody of florals, ambers and spice. It’s in the 60’s and raining today and this perfume is beyond delightful. Though I wouldn’t reach for this on hot summer days as I have many others to reach for that are better suited, but on cooler summer evenings this works magically. As soon as I sprayed this for the first time it triggered a scent memory, I find this very similar to Initio’s Blessed Baraka. So much so it’s somewhat redundant for me to own both but I do love this DNA so for the time being I’ll keep both. I’d have a hard time choosing which one to part with if I were to get rid of one. Both have a very alluring, smooth, almost gourmand, subtle sweetness to them with the slightly fruity ambers, florals, sandalwood, and spices, smelling like a blueberry bagel toasted with strawberry cream cheese or something lol. In this case, many are comparing 1888 to root beer and I can totally see that, it comes up towards the mids, reminding me in a way of Roja Dove’s Enigma/Creation-E. I think this can be worn anytime but I mostly gravitate to this in the late afternoons and evenings. Autumn is the ideal season to wear this. For me, this is best suited for date night and romantic evenings or out on the town but can also be worn in the office. This is quite elegant and perfect for any formal affair. Performance is outstanding. All in all, a complex, masterfully blended and perfectly executed composition that smells high quality, exotic, approachable, seductive, and somewhat mass appealing. If you like scents like Enigma/Creation-E, Blessed Baraka, Straight to Heaven/Extreme, Herod, Oajan, Tuxedo/Rochas Moustache, Armani Code Profumo, Grand Soir, etc. you’ll love this. I’d say ages 25+

I have heard so many great things about this fragrance, so I decided to get a decant of it alongside Dama Bianca, and wow, I have to say this is one of the most complex scent I have smelt In the opening, I get a very strong carnation smell which I despised. The only thing which helped to balance the carnation scent was the spiciness from the pepper and coriander, even then it's still very prominent. I kept on smelling it while thinking "where's the beautiful amber everyone keeps talking about?" and I was a bit disappointed, but I let it sit on my skin for a while and after fifteen to twenty minutes, the carnation started to fade and the amber began to shine through and I cannot stop smelling myself. The amber in this is really sexy, slightly animalic. It's dark and bold, but not overwhelming. The sandalwood and patchouli really works as a side support which makes this perfume even more irresistible. I wear this myself but I would LOVE to smell this on a man, I think it's going to be really sexy on a man as it's masculine leaning, but it's still quite unisex. It has an amazing projection and longevity, I easily got 8+ hours wear with this fragrance on the skin, and I can still smell it on my clothes the next day when I woke up. Definitely best worn during night time, on colder weather, but it definitely works on summer night as well, because I can picture wearing this in a luxury cottage somewhere tropical like Bali at night time. Easily a 9/10, if it wasn't because of the carnation in the beginning, I would give it 10/10, but overall it is a winner for me.

I’ve been obsessed by perfumes for a long time and this one has knocked my socks off. I am super sceptical about any fragrance I try and always see the downsides, even though I may really enjoy the fragrance. But I’ve truly fallen in love with this one. I never imagined that my favourite fragrance ever would be a floral fragrance. I thought my favourite fragrance would be a gourmand. Some YouTube reviewers are saying this has mild to moderate projection. But for me this is as beast mode as it gets. It should be illegal for me to wear this while driving or operating machinery as it has the power to paralyse me in a state of awe and wonder. In my opinion, the objective of any respected perfumer is to create the perfect contradiction. What I mean is a scent that is weird, wonderful, artistic, complex, multi-faceted and yet at the same time wearable, appealing, versatile, timeless. This fragrance to me is a hole in one on both aspects. There are some noses who will smell this and think “eww no, not for me” but those kinds of people only like boring minimalist perfumes that sit close to the skin. It could be classed as a marmite fragrance, probably more suited to Eastern rather than Western noses. But my gosh it’s simply beautiful.

AndMon and others basically say the same thing below: this isn't a signature scent. I think most of us view fragrances as we do clothes: different styles and pieces for different occasions. This is my nicest suit or a tuxedo. It's the pair of gorgeous Italian leather shoes that mostly sit in a velvet bag, in the back of my closet. Is it because I don't like them or because they're not comfortable to wear? No, being hand crafted, they feel like an extension of my feet - like they were always there or a part of me. They stay hidden in a bag because I rarely have anything on my calendar that reaches the place where a pair of shoes so decadent, classy, and unique aren't overkill. And because of my job, i wear a suit or jacket at least once a week to attend political events, non-profit galas, and meetings with C-level executives. Even then, I almost never wear my best suit or my italian crafted leather shoes. That's what 1888 is except that it's not the most expensive fragrance in my collection: it's just the most dressed up and only suitable for very specific occasions. But when I wear it, I feel like the f'ing rainmaker. I don't know why anyone would buy the larger bottle: one 30oz bottle will last me the rest of my life.

Pure bliss. There are a lot of hyped fragrances that I've tried that have been good, but not great. I miss the wow factor that everyone's talking about. 1888 is no such scent. Instantaneously I knew I was going to really enjoy this one. Creamy, with florals and an amber base, this fragrance is stunning. The ylang-ylang and carnation give 1888 a dreamy, airy quality while the amber and sandalwood give a comforting warmth that envelops you as you wear it. Elegant and unisex, but it can definitely lean more feminine or more masculine depending on who wears it. 1888 is plush, luxurious, but not pretentious. It's one of those rare scents where most people who smell it are going to love it, but on top of that, they will recognize this as something unique and extremely well blended. I asked my whole family what they thought of this one and everyone had immediate, positive reactions. But this is no generic, boring scent. While extremely likable, it's complex and the perfumery shines through in this one. Highly recommend to test it out.

What a wonderful scent: Dark, thick, spicy, floral and slightly sweet. A friend sent me a 5ml sample, which I'd used almost entirely and knew that it was FBW for me after that. Luckily I was able to get a trade from a Fragrantica member for it and couldn't be happier. FWIW, This is only Xerjoff out of all of them that I've sampled that I wanted a bottle of. For the most part, I've been unimpressed by the house. Decent projection, as in not a skin scent and not a beast but it has excellent longevity. *** Update *** Do you know how it is when you sometimes get a fragrance and you're all excited about it for the first few days and then it becomes "ok" or the excitement wears off? Well, this isn't happening at all with this fragrance for me. I went through the sample before I got the bottle and I'm still absolutely in love with it. It will always have a welcome place on my shelf. Aside from this fragrance, I'd never found another Xerjoff that really "wowed" me but this one sure did.

Vintage Italy in a bottle! Great smell with awsome performance! Yes, it's a mature scent, great for spring/autumn! After you spray, you will be hit by the smell of powdery carnation, a looooot of carnation with pepper and i might say that the first hour it leans feminine, but the middle stage and the drydown it is more masculine, a mix of flowers, spices with a leather touch! Definitely the scent is very bold and one of a kind! I love Italy, especially Venice, and this perfume reminds me a lot of it, and i might say that you can pick this smell in the air when you walk through the canals in Venice! Smart-casual for the day or a formal suit in the evening might be appropriate when wearing the scent! For me it was a risky blind buy, but thank God that it's not completly a fail! It's a like, not a love....but I let time to decide more! Such an interesting scent, definitly needs a try! Totally unisex, if you can deal with the flowers and the vintage smell!

Just lovely, draws the concept of XIXth century so well! An ambery, spicy, sweet, dry carnation on a flower's bed with a punch of pepper, sandalwood and birch. In the drydown it wires more on coffee - vanilla - powdery - cocoa kind of scent (maybe the patchouli, neroli, saffron, coriander combination - without trespassing into gourmand type (!). It is sweet, luscious and dense without to be cloying; even into the first stage, that is dramatically sweet. A little powdery, too. I feel this could be bottle worthy if you are into this genre of fragrances. Can be pulled off by anyone who is into the right mood. Starts feminine, wires more masculine with woods and spices. A must try! Italian niche smoothness as usual... Edit: added to collection, indeed. That is just such a memorable scent... special! I start now to smell the yellow floral component and it is very strong, that Iranian saffron is just wildly oriental and charming.

Details matter when you are the best at what you do. If you have not tried the house of Xerjoff, then your knowledge of perfume perfection might still be lacking some details. This house really embodied the expression "beautiful inside out;" they never settle for less. 1888 Casamorati is a fragrance so beautiful you'll want to sniff it every second. It's prominent notes are Amber, Carnation, and Sandalwood. Also, there are notes of Ylang-Ylang , Coriander, Pepper, Rose, and Saffron in small doses. A fragrance with excellent transitions; the combination of Amber and Carnation here is breath taking with Sandalwood balancing the sweetness nicely. The spices are not overwhelming, everything is just right. Signature worthy but I will wear this more in a semi-formal setting. Although you can pull it off anytime, any place, anywhere with more than 8 hours longevity. This is a perfect fragrance in my humble opinion.

One of the best amber fragrances out there! This has amazing quality, it's very elegant and well blended. I get a beautiful spicy amber with something like a cinnamon touch, it's smokey like incense maybe from the birtch, with the carnation which is powdery, elegant and not at all mature. There is also a creamy sandalwood undertone. Performance is great, not beast mode but close enough. I get over 10-12 hours longevity and great projection. It's a room filler scent, a state maker that makes people come closer to smell you. This is a versatile fragrance and if you arrange your sprays you could wear it all year round except the really warm days. In an office/closed environment i would wear just 2 sprays, they are more than enough. This is in my opinion the best amber scent! It has it all! Sweet, spicy, vanilic, creamy, balsamic, floral, powdery, woody... If you like amber scents you should try this one!

such a ravishing, dazzling fragrance. boy is it delightful! I want to write down every synonym of "beautiful", but it's never enough. 1888 makes me elated, on cloud nine. most likely carnation (or clove, I still can't differentiate them) or smth else, whatever inside the gorgeous bottle is pure charm. although two quite different scents, for me it evokes similar feelings to Nuit d'Issey. spicy-floral, enveloping and enlivening, kind of providing necessary vigor and verve to continue to stand on your feet in this dreadful, grim and banal world. I can't stress it enough. first time it gave me shivers and some tears of joy. I can't and won't forget that. until drydown, for a moment it might smell a bit "outdated" or lady-like powdery, yet it's also alluring and totally unisex. but still for serious enthusiasts. worth gatekeeping. easily 10 out of 10. need to buy a full flanker ASAP.

Guys, I’ve bought this fragrance by mistake a month back.. And I was so frustrated coz.. I didn’t know anything about this scent. Tried a few reviews online... no good explanation was able to convince me otherwise... I was still doubtful about this Ylang Ylang stuff.. (wtf is that?) but Here it is now ! Tested a min ago.. and now... I freaking love it🤣 I got the returning order code everything was set up to send this back to the seller and here I am... in love with what I’m smelling on my arms haha This fragrance is hands up to die for.. Luxurious, bright, unique this is a master piece... I can’t see myself wearing this around like on a day-to-day thing.. This is for when the president comes for a visit.. Jesus I couldn’t be happier.. Guess it doesn’t need to go too heavy on the trigger as this stuff screams.. my whole apartment smells carnation.. Highly recommend!!!

Very enjoyable wear. Smelt unique to me. I get what people are saying with the root beer and cola vibes, but it's not too realistic to be worrisome. Just a nice quirk. The drydown is an amazing bend of floral and amber and though it is powerful, it is still light-wearing enough for most seasons and occasions. Feels like it can be dressed up or worn casually. Has definite quality. I had a decant and at first It was a fragrance I thought was too wacky for me to wear seriously. But just like wearing clothes for the first time that are not my usual style, I slowly grew into it and the noise of the initial shock toned down and could wear it to appreciate its uniqueness. I had a similar experience with MKF BR540 Extrait. Shock led to attraction. So 1888 is a DNA that I find myself longing to smell, so I may end up with a FB in my collection.

Very nice feminine scent. It’s not unique tho, doesn’t project or last very long. But I still like it. Because I own 21 bottles of various Xerjoff fragraces, I decided to only buy the 30ml size. It’s more than enough for me . Wearing it today. I now have flies chasing me ..hmmm I must smell like a flower to them....lol Anyway I do recommend this perfume. And u can buy this 30ml for about $70. At the discounters. It’s worth the price. 6/10 because it doesn’t project or last long on my skin . But everyone’s skin is different. Most frags don’t last long on me so please sample this one for yourself. I must admit it smells very familiar, like one of the Initio scents . I own a lot of Initio too so when I figure this out, I’ll be back . But yeah I know I’ve smelt this scent before. Maybe Mugler and not Initio...hmmmmm

This is an exquisite fragrance - this does not smell like "soda" or "cola" in any way. That is a poor description this is rich and smooth and yes it is most definitely unisex and it is gorgeous. Very rich and ambery/vanilla and it does not scream female although it is sweet and projects very well. My colleagues down below described it pretty well but the "soda/cola" description is so improper - it is so much better than that and I don't get soda whatsoever. This is refined, rich, elegant, sweet yet not too sweet and very well done. Get a sample - I got mine from fragrance line for pretty cheap. its well worth it and like I stated earlier the projection will not be a problem for you. Very well done and the amber and vanilla are very well done. This can most certainly be worn by men or women. 1888 Overall: 8.3/10

I get a fizzy root beer opening, and I’m reminded of another perfume that I don’t think anyone has mentioned: Safanad by Parfums de Marly. Opening is so similar on both, and my connection between the two was immediate. Dry down is very different though. And I think the dry down with 1888 is superior. The only way I can describe it is a woody, sweet amber with a dusting of light powder (emphasis on light). It’s hard to describe, but that scent does linger for several hours. I’m not getting stellar performance and that’s okay because usually that means certain kind of synthetics need to be in the mix. Anyway, I’m not picking those up aroma chemicals and I’m happy about it. I would love to have this in my collection, but I have my eyes on a couple of others I must purchase first.

Im not much into florals but this one is just very nice. There is a strong carnation note from the first spray to dry down. The amber here is not sharp smelling but rather smooth and is not overpowering. Blends side by side with carnation supported by the creamy sandalwood and it creates 1 feet of scent cloud around you. Nice for spring and fall. Lacks the "in your face" punch to be suited for winter. Leans feminine because the amber is not strong enough but can be worn by both sexes. Mature 28+. Can be worn in any occasion. Update: Longevity on this is just insane! It lasted me 24 hours. I put this on yesterday at 630am and now while preparing for work at 7am i still smell faint whiffs of it when i move my head around. Projection is moderate about 2 feet for upto 2 hours

This is an interesting concoction. I didn't know what to expect from this aside from a root beer vibe which I do get. I love root beer so I figured let's give this a try. I feel like this is what English Laundry was trying copy with Windsor although this is much better than Windsor in every conceivable way. It also lacks the synthetic tobacco note that Windsor carries. So, is this good? Yes it is. But...it's borderline cloying. It has a sweet root beer syrup vibe.Drydown is a sweet bourbon. Wife isn't crazy about it so that's one strike..My fragrance collection kind of revolves around warm weather fragrances since I live in a hot climate. This would be strictly cold weather. Performance is strong with 1888. It's like pink Joop strong. Only need a couple sprays.

Opens with a effervescent floral root beer. Transitions to a bright spicy amber vanilla with the perfect amount of sweetness. Spices are definitely not heavy, but gives it a sort of a great attribute. The mid is quite long and it is nearly the same as Un Bois Vanille's body. Then OH MY GOODNESS that drydown. One of the sexiest woody musks you will ever put your nose on, similar to Grand Soir's body. Sillage is quite good. People will pick up whiffs of you from the next table, but they will mostly pick up the light woody musk and light waxy vanilla more than the spice. It has that middle eastern performance. Transitions in multiple phases, but my description is 3 phases for the sake of brevity. Scent? An easy redline 10 on the meter.

Perfection of the art. Pure luxury in a bottle. Quality unlikely to be surpassed. This is wonderful, quite simply the finest fragrance I have ever come across. From the initial opening of warm spicy jasmine and carnation, which rolls into the heavenly ylang ylang before falling softly into the finest woody fragrance - sandalwood and something else, the birch? - all in a velvety glove of the most luxurious amber you'll ever smell. My word this is classy. Don't get me wrong I love my cheapy scents (one of my favourite scents is Al Haramain's Excellent, unbelievably cheap) but there's no mistaking the scent of affluence. I want to say more but I'm currently lost for words. Long lasting longevity, enormous sillage. Thank you Xerjoff.

Woody amber, spicy floral. It's difficult to separate the specific notes but most prominently I can pick up on the leathery saffron, sweet and slightly fruity ylang-ylang, and an unusually smooth pepper (which might actually be the coriander) all stemming from a prominent woody amber base. Goes more powdery and floral as it dries down, without overtaking the base. Warm and comforting, but not so thick and cloying that I don't think this needs to be restricted to cold weather use. Moderately strong projection peaks about an hour in and peters out over 3-4hr, longevity 8-10hr. Surprisingly similar to Starlight, actually, if you added more woods to the base and a touch of florals to the spices.

Exceptional warm, spicy floriental. It leans slightly masculine and old-fashioned but it’s so high quality it could suit anyone. The deep red of the bottle is just perfect. The scent features dark burgundy florals - carnation and rose, plus hot spices like cloves and saffron, with warm amber. Perfect to wear with a classic Italian gentleman’s outfit, a carnation in the pocket of the tailored jacket, and a playfully old-fashioned straw hat. I had a small sample years ago and the memory of it never left me, so I jumped when I found a 30ml bottle at a discount. It’s exactly as I remember, and frankly 30 mls is tons, this stuff is sneaky-nuclear, 1-2 sprays projects plenty and lasts 12+ hours.

At first, this opened with a hit of cough syrup and old-school cola, which was a bit unexpected. However, as it settled, the fragrance transformed into something much more pleasant and playful. I wouldn’t recommend wearing this in temperatures above 30°C. The dry down was a highlight, blending rich cola, warm timber, and delicate florals creating a 'fizzy' composition. While it’s not for me personally, it’s definitely worth sampling. This could be a standout signature scent for the right person. EDIT: A month after this review, I received another sample, and I just love it. I sat with it for a while and decided to buy a bottle. It scratches an itch I didn't know I had, and I just love it!

This is 10 TIMES better than Naxos. I STAND on that. Its like a warm buttery root beer float. You get more of the amber sweetness in the dry down. Its like the Dodge Challengers, or Ford Mustangs of the last decade. Its modern and exciting, but its old school and mature at the same time ( You'll understand when you smell it ). The longevity is excellent ( 8 to 10 hours on skin ). The projection is perfect. Its STRONG, but its not too loud, or obnoxious. People WILL smell you, and most of them will be captivated by your scent. This, Lira, Gentiluomo, Renaissance, 40 Knots, Golden Dallah, and Tony Iommi Monkey Special....are my favorite Xerjoffs in my collection. The Magnificent 7.

For me it was an instant love. I hesitated to buy it because for me it feels like a very rare occasion perfume so I though I will buy the 30ml bottle on some discount. A while ago I was visiting Petra in Jordan and the local sellers there had some very nice smelling oils and some waxy bars and I always though I would maybe like to wear one but they were maybe too ray and unpolished. Well I fell like this is it, the polished version of that Jordanian goodness in a bottle to spray on yourself. This is the perfume I want to smell tucked in a cozy place with snow outside and if I ever return to Petra or anywhere in the area this is what I am bringing with me.

1888 was not my first choice from Casamorati, first Mefisto, after Fiero, even Casa Futura before it, only after that I decided to take a full bottle. This fragrance was described already so many times, I will not even describe it, I just want to say that I like it more in the summer. When heat warms this one it gets better, it’s sweet but bearable for summer wear. It’s velvety and floral, but at the same time rubbery and ambery, it’s versatile, grownup and dressed up. You can see from the comments it’s polarizing, it’s not your common crowd pleaser, this one has character, so you should have personality to pull this off.

I tried it blind without looking at the notes, and it was smelling like old-fashioned sugar candy cake toppers and licorice at first. It that regard, it reminds me a bit of Lolita, except without the violet and not so sweet. The licorice note does dissipate, making way for carnation. I didn't think I'd like carnation in a fragrance, but it's a nice contrast with the ylang-ylang and neroli without being screechy. Way down deep, there's a faint hint of patchouli. Luckily, I don't smell the rose. It's a good choice for when I'm in the mood for Celeste/Angels Powder/Lolita but don't feel like I can stomach all the sweetness.

This is the ultimate Black Tie or White Tie fragrance for man. It is floral, soft, slightly fresh with a retro feeling that brings the memory of fancy galas or the opera. As a person who sees perfume as a piece of my outfit, this is not a versitile fragrance since it always reminds me of a highly formal event, but so well done that makes me want to buy it. Maybe the 30ml bottle is the perfect size to save this fragrance for special ocasions that require a tuxedo. Can be worn in the Summer and Winter because it has notes that will work well year round. Scent: 10/10 Sillage: 8/10 Longevity: 8+ hours

Beautiful and amazing perfume! It becomes more and more my big Love. I owe some of Casamaroti line. Lira is the best and sexiest for me but this one is something out of space. Yes, it is a mature scent, powdery, ambery, floral. I can't detect rose or neroli and I"m happy for it. There is amber, carnation, amber again to my nose but, perhaps it is just super well blended perfume. It lasts 24h and more on me, each hour it gets better. It brings me the feeling of Venetian ball back to 19th century. It leans feminine though. Please sample it before buying, you could hate it or you will love it!

Oh my goodness, I never noticed that correlation before. Thanks to 'Dumbplings' below, this DOES resemble Naxos a bit. I have bought and sold off Naxos like 3+ times by now, I love it but there's something about it that's lacking that 'WOW' factor (but the drydown is awesome), and I just naturally prefer 1888. But YES, this is like a more floral pepper-y Naxos with not as heft of a sweetness to it. Not as 'thick'/'heavy' as Naxos. Think of Naxos as the brother and 1888 as the sister. Anyways... lovely stuff, no complaints on longevity. The floral aspect with the sweetness is *chef's kiss*.

I blind buy this fragrance.. and since then I am obsessed with blind bying fragrances to get that ''Oh yeah!'' Feeling when u get the right fragrance. This is absolutely a stunning masterpiece, it is unique, deep, complicated and well blended from opening to the drydown. It opens luxurious, carnation flower and coriander with the pepper gave a comforting vicks vibe which I like the most about the fragrance. As it drydown, the amber, rose and patchouli combination is just beautiful done. It project strongly for 2-3 hours and last at least for 10+ hours. 3 - 4 sprays are enough to go.

I though that Fragrantica members might enjoy the source of the materials that Xerjoff actually used to create the early 1888's. This an extremely pleasing scent of red/white florals sitting on top of white woods and amber. The pepper and coriander werent as dominating, serving to make the amber base a little darker and warmer. On top of the warm amber are white woods, and then the red fresh carnation at the top. Its very classy but still light and clean. The warmth of it combined with how floral it is make it suitable for both day and night. I dont think its as woody as the notes claim, they are very white woods. Overall, an very pleasant warm floral. 7.7/10

This house NEVER disappoints!!! I love this fragence... But purely due to nostalgia. It reminds me of a fragence my grandmother wore....(from first spray to dry down) But not in a bad way. This was what she wore on special occasions... Like going to church. And this took me right back to being in church... And falling asleep on her arm.... This is so comforting. I don't think I would buy it for me... But I will get samples from time to time... Just to to be transported back to my childhood. I just live how scents can do that!!!

Bought as a blind buy after reading reviews. I do not regret it, it is a warming and comforting fragrance that lasts a long time, projection is good, and my wife love it too. Notes are as advertised and are a pleasant combination, everything plays wonderfully and nothing to me steals the show. The atomizer is great, the company ships in a very timely fashion, packaging is exquisite. I can certainly tell at Casamorati / Xerjoff they truly enjoy their craft and love to give a wonderful experience in every aspect to the customer.

Absolutely glorious. This is for the old school amber lovers. Well blended and beautiful. If you like fragrances like Tom Ford Noir/Pour Femme/Extreme, Black/Velvet Orchid, Bal A Versailles, Elizabeth Taylor Passion, CK Obsession, YSL Opium, Dior Dune etc. you have to try this one. Smelled so familiar to me at first, smells similar but easier to wear, to a Thierry Mugler one ‘ Miroir des Majestes Mugler’ and ‘Musc Mysterieux’ but those ones seemed heavier with oud. This is a Perfect fall/winter fragrance.

I was told I smell like an old Italian woman when I wear it. But I am neither. Not that there’s anything wrong with being old or Italian. But I did get it in Rome. 😆 I love this scent! So warm and spicy. Vintage feel, modernized. It’s sweet, without being cloying. I see suggestions that it smells like Red Moscow or Egoiste or even Opium. It doesn’t remind me of any of them. It is very unique, spicy sweet scent. But is is linear to my nose. Love at first sniff.

A very realistic smell of a Greek Orthodox church which was surprising but sooo pleasant. It's very sensual and it reminds me of incense and other fragrances used for spiritual purposes. People who are not familiar with what I'm describing will probably have different associations though. It's very warm and sensual, somewhat sweet and unisex. One may say it's deep and seductive and it's true but I can't stop thinking of incense and candles when sniffing it :D

Carnation, carnation, carnation, that's the name of the game. Since not many fragrance actually utilize this note, you already smell unique when using this. Spicy, sweet and ambery, with saffron and rose to help amplify the carnation note, making this smell very mature, almost like a mafia don at his daughter wedding. Would recommend especially for it price and a very safe buy if you prefer a more mature scent, another simply exquisite product from Xerjoff!

An opening of soapy floral, a touch of neroli and lightly peppered spices, flowing into a beautifully done carnation head to mid. Later on 1888 flips towards warmth - amber and a little vanilla, which one could argue is a touch boozy I suppose. Delightful with a retro vibe. Even my missus gave this a positive comment (rare, as she's basically numb to 95% of what I wear... She can't keep up and generally makes no mention positive OR negative!)

To my nose this is a slightly subdued Herod. I am really surprised that hasn't been called out yet here. While the notes listed are mostly different than Herod, the way they work together forms a very similar scent profile. In my opinion if you own one you probably don't need the other. At the very least I recommend sampling first. Aside from that, the praise heaped on this is well deserved. It is smooth and intoxicating.

Well, I was quite surprised when I got it in the mail today, I’ve expected much more from Xerjoff that cost $$$!. I used to have 99.9% similar perfume in 2004, I believe it was Jean Paul Gaultier classique, which cost me three or four times less. I guess I am judging based on my opinion, please do your own research/test before buying. It is also too sweet for me, I don’t detect spices at all just honey, lots of honey.

I love this juice but can't help but be reminded of the sweet (and likely carcinogenic) smell of a plastic baby doll's head from the '70s. Those things off-gassed about as much as a new plastic shower curtain liner. Just be aware: The color of this juice is a deep amber, so don't get trigger happy if you're spraying it onto white fabric. The color is obscured when you're viewing it through the red glass bottle.

As said a reviewer below: Lord, have mercy! This is good. Really good! Carnation, sandalwood, cinnamon/clove, benjoin, patchouli (old school, a la Givenchy Gentleman) and something that resembles suede (like that one in Ombré Leather, that was the first perfume that came to mind, mind you). Neroli as a heart note? I smell Antaeus mixed with Naxos. Daaaamn, this is gooood! Sweet, if one has a sweet tooth.

Wow ... this is just an elegant stunner. Starts off a little strong with an absolute burst of florals and spices. The carnation, which I love, is an old school touch, but is subtle. Moves into a deep amber, woody base with the slightest hint of smokiness as it dries down. Performance is exceptional. Perfect for Autumn and Winter wear, day or night. I am a sucker for warm spicy fragrances. This one certainly fits the bill. Fantastic. Inviting. Comforting. I understand that they are not really the same. However, this reminds me of TF Noir Extreme. Take away the sweetness (Kulfi) and add some florals and make it a tad more refined. Both are great and I am happy to have both in my collection. I may be mad at picking up only the small bottle.

Only one spray and it truly packs a punch. Very rich & warm fragrance. When first sprayed it gives off a very very old fashioned vibe, and not in a good way. But after around 30 mins of wear-time, the old fashioned vibe eases up and it becomes a beautiful powdery amber scent with a smooth suede undertone. Don’t judge this from the initial spray. Give it some time and it will enchant you.

Absolutely amazing! This was my first niche pick-up and actually my first blind buy too! Right off the bat I fell in love. I think this is perfectly unisex or maybe leans a bit feminine but as a man I still do not think that it is too feminine. If I had to find a way to describe this fragrance I think it would be like going to an opera in Italy in the end of the 19th century. Love it!!!

Casamorati 1888 is what Id imagine the Billionaire Boys Club to wearing on a night out. Its the type of fragrance that turns heads and gets compliments if thats what your looking for. I never grow tired of wearing it, not too sweet or cloying, a perfect gentleman's fragrance. Its the perfect easy grab for daily use. It does have a floral aspect to it, but not feminine in any way.
