Regio

Regio - a perfume of bygone era. Baroque is the first word that comes to my mind. 1600's, Ball Masque in Venice. Venice is hometown to this guy. This is not a scent that you wear with jeans and a tee. This is not a scent for boys. This is a tailored look, white shirt, well dressed man in his early 30s. Best worn in fall, when temperatures drop, and you are ought to wear a sport coat and light scarf. Amazing amazing scent if you know how to wear it. Opens up with tons of citruses, classic Italian style, classic Xerjoff. Around 30-45 min mark, heart is coming out. And that, in my humble opinion, is where the magic is at. Masculine flowers spiced up with cardamom, slightly sharp but at the same time sweetened by Vanilla. During summer, becomes cloying, from start to base, not a summer scent. In winter, not as powerful, as low temperatures don't allow it to warm up to proper temperature, but fall is where it shines. There is absolutely zero synthetics about it as i can tell, longevity with my perfume consuming skin was best at around 9 hrs, silage is fantastic as well. At first i was very uncomfortable getting into any closed spaces like public transport, it strangles everyone around at just 2 sprays. I never as well encountered anything quite like this one, so not a clone for sure. Sample first, def not for everyone, but right person will definitely appreciate. References to hand cream and bad silage and so on and so forth is true, however, depends on a batch. It seems that before 2015, everything was much stronger, full bodied. after that mark, things watered down hardcore. Mefisto, what amazed me, laster on me 7 hrs from my original sample on a hot summer day! and too bad i was just stepping in to niche perfumery, and i didn't grab FB. another sample set was absolutely horrid. like it was perfume sprayed water, no silage, no body, just smell that disappeared in around 2 hrs. i would be ok if price was reduced, but Xerjoff, come on! So thats that, done ranting. Definitely try and think of that Italy...Venice...Ball.

This is a very beautiful gentlemanly, dark, and somewhat green Italian musk fragrance. The opening is very citrusy yet minty with bergamot, grapefruit, and geranium, and some sort of green leaves accord. On the drydown, it becomes really musky (from the ambrette/musk mallow accord), and floral with lots of carnation and a hint of herbal lavender. I also think I get a hint of leather in the drydown though it's not listed in the notes. On my skin, it's essentially a dark musk and carnation scent. I normally don't like carnation too much when it's used in cheap colognes as a synthetic note, but the carnation in this is so natural smelling and lively that I can't help but love it. The overall impression of the fragrance is smelling a garden of carnations in a dark cave somewhere or perhaps beside an old gothic mansion at midnight. It's quite unique, and the only thing similar to this I've smelled is possibly Geo F. Trumper's Eucris (though that goes in the direction of blackcurrent and oakmoss). The performance for this fragrance is also amazing (like most Xerjoffs), and one doesn't need to spray a lot to get great longevity from it. The projection for this fragrance is moderate leaning strong, while the longevity is fantastic, running at 6 hours of projection before becoming a skin scent. Overall, this is a dark gothic masculine masterpiece with a very unique set of notes and extremely natural scent. 5/5

This is a fantastic fragrance. I absolutely love it! The dry down is magical. Throughout my perfume-collecting journey, I’ve tried countless fragrances, but I personally gravitate toward quirky freshies with a special twist. I’m not talking about generic freshies; those are a no-go for me. This one is a great example of what I enjoy. It’s versatile enough to be worn year-round, although it can feel a bit heady in high heat. It starts off with a citrusy, lavender-like freshness, paired with a heavy dose of carnation and a floral, cardamom-tinged background, plus a hint of fruitiness. As it develops, the florals become more pronounced, accompanied by a rich plum note that’s slightly reminiscent of Black Orchid or an old Tom Ford fragrance I can’t quite remember. However, unlike some Tom Ford scents, this one never becomes overly thick. It stays fresh all the way to a mildly sweet vanilla finish on a patchouli-musk base that lasts seemingly forever. This fragrance is incredibly long-lasting! I’ve noticed it gets even better as the bottle ages. On skin, it easily lasts 8 to 9 hours, no joke. And on clothes? It clings for an entire day, if not more (I didn’t count exactly, but you’re guaranteed full-day wear). What a fragrance! I totally recommend it, but as always, make sure to try it first and decide for yourself. It’s quite unique and not exactly cheap. Cheers!

#19 on my Fragrance Review Journey I do not understand the ratings for this fragrance. 10/10 in the opinion of my nose. I have Tom Ford Black Orchid. My wife and I both wear it. I certainly smell Black Orchid DNA in this fragrance; however, this takes a more mature, big brother path. The opening is magnificence. The lemon blossom and lavender accord give due notice. It radiates this 3–5-foot scent bubble that commands respect. The scent is refined and unconstrained. The dry down does not disappoint at all. It's like Black Orchid with a domineering, yet well engineered rose coordination. Xerjoff Erba Pura was my first niche purchase. This is the latest from the house. Many more to go on my journey. This fragrance is a great ride. Unisex - Yes Scenarios to wear - All Seasons - Fall/Spring/cool summer nights/Winter Blind buy safe - If you enjoy what it is being compared to you will be delighted by this 7-10 hours on skin and all day on clothing.

This is an extremely good perfume!!! The scent is a masterpiece! Do not be influenced by the reviews in Fragrantica and by public opinion because many people are not aware of the perfume industry! Many people write reviews out of envy and malice, others make presentations with negatives because they do not know that they received fake perfumes, others simply want to undercut the rating of a certain brand! This is a super beautiful scent, it has slight vibrations of black orchid TF but at the same time it is very different. The perfume is of extremely high quality! From me 10/10 Many people want to smell super beautiful and ethereal, but they don't get paid the right amount of money, so if you're stingy and have a small heart, buy the crappy clones!

All these reviews are really confusing to me, but that is what is so fun with scents - they smell so different to everyone :) On my skin Regio opens with sharp, bright, fresh grapefruit and bergamot and transforms quite slowly into a lovely fresh citrusy floral with lots of cardamom. This is completely unisex to me, and will be an easy spring and summer reach for me personally. I can't find any resemblance to Black Orchid, but I love both either way. Edit: Wow... I finished my sample and decided to buy a bottle, and this smells completely different! Now I absolutely smell the similarity to Black Orchid, and that sharp grapefruit opening is missing. I am definitely hoping it will become more like my sample with time :(

To me, Regio is a masterpiece. It is not the easiest fragrance to wear, but for sure it's a sophisticated and original one. Opens with a blast of citrus and cardamom, fresh, slightly sweet and earthy. Then it becomes more powdery, worm and subtle. It gives an aura of confidence and control, never being aggressive. It lasts until the next day, and projects nicely and proportionally to the amount of sprays: do not go heavy on the trigger, it will choke people out. I suggest 4 sprays max. Note: I have the new "reformulated" version. Don't worry about performance, it is great. I think people who want more performance then that are fundamentally crazy.

Well, this is my first experience with Xerjoff. I am floored. I chose this because of all the comments about it being similar to Black Orchid. Yes, I see the comparison. Certainly not as dark and certainly more wearable. At least for me. I am a huge fan of Black Orchid. But this is not just wearable, it is absolutely fantastic. After a couple of wears it is close to taking top spot in my collection. It is unfortunate that I purchased the small bottle to be on the safe side. This thing rocks. Or as the kids say...an absolute banger. Lasts for several hours. I am just not sure if I wear this fragrance or if this fragrance wears me. 😀

Another Masterpiece from Casamorati 1888 by Xerjoff. I completely adore this perfume. It has such a beautiful blend of such high quality ingredients that it is the one I always come back to. It has a wonderful citrus opening with bergamot, grapefruit, lemon blossom and lavender notes wich makes this a very warm, sexy and exclusive fragrance until the vanilla note appears and take you to a place called vanilla heaven. Outstanding!

This an amazing creation.It definitly has a vintage feeling. A unique, classy and gentelman scent not for the younger crowd .Can be worn day and night.Its the only xerjoff i own. Not for blind buy thats for sure.I have tried black orchid and marema from TT they are not similar at all except that they are floral scents.Give this a try if you want a unique non-modern fragrance

The abbreviated take, sniffed from cap or sprayed on paper, reads old school / old man sweet leather. But sprayed on skin this really opens up and becomes multidimensional with powdery suede, florals, musk and vanilla. It’s got that ineffable Casamorati quality of old-fashioned ingredients in a symphonic blend, a fantastic experience.

While it does recall Tom Ford Black Orchid, it has an extra something spicier or sharper that gives it the edge. TFBO(I have the Parfum) is extemely strong, long-lasting, and imho, linear. To the point of being annoying after a while. This juice is less bombastic (although it does stick around...), but somehow also happier, livelier.

I really like unique frags and Regio is such a hidden gem. Very strong bright citrus blending into yes a realm of black orchid but way better IMO. This scent is not for the shy, so keep that in mind. It is not like Naxos, it is not like 1888, please try a decant before buying.

I have to disagree with previous reviews. This is an exquisite scent, a master in its class. It might not be to everyone's taste though as it is not a modern scent, this is a true classic, to me it seems timeless and beyond fashion. 100% Divine.

Hidden gem. I prefer Regio compared to similar fragrances in Nishane, Acqua di Parma or Tom Ford.

A spectacular fragrance in my opinion. Opens up citrusy and fresh, with a hint of spice and sweetness, as it "matures" on the skin, it goes more and more over into a sweet vanilla with citrusy background. There are flower notes in the background from late opening to early dry down. Nothing that can be called feminine in any way. The Carnation and grapefruit are the star players here, with solid backup from vanilla, cardamom, lavender and plum. It would have been interesting to have the rose be a bit more potent. I can't really pick it up at any point. Neither can i recognize Ylang-Ylang, lemon blossom or Ambrette. But i'm not very familiar with either of them, so it may just be that i don't know them well enough to recognize them. I honestly believe this to be an under appreciated fragrance by Xerjoff. It's wearable 24/7/365. Any time, any day all year. It's not loud, nor is it suttle. It's that sweet spot. And the price is pretty good for what you get. I had a tester. I purchased a 100ml bottle. Score: 9/10

Nice... Warm Creamy Ambary Vanilla... It is in the Black Orchid Domain but I think this is a much better scent and much less of that sickly thick accord... Maybe toned down a little compared to BO... Quality Scent... Very good for this space... Sexy... Far dry down is very nice... Vanilla Patchouli Musk nice combo... Very good... Sophisticated and Original sums it up... This is a top scent in its field though... And its a sexy field... But maybe a little bit sickly field too... 1st outing I thought it was only "A Like" at the price point... 2nd Test... Once again was very nice in the evening but all up to lunch thought it was always just under that sickly line... Doesn't actually cross over it but a little off putting... And 3rd outing in the frosty cold... Much better and absolutely beautiful in the evening... Good Stuff... To me the Frost calms it and keeps it in check... Best in the cold... But still probably just "A Like" for me... But maybe this just isn't my thing...

There’s a uniqueness to Regio which makes me want to like it, but there’s something musty about it, too. After several hours I finally realized what it reminds me of: A bucket of scented mop water after you’ve finished cleaning with it—lightly-citrusy, fresh, floral, yet with a musty, dirty smell underneath. Despite what it reminds me of, I do like it, quite a bit actually. It's nicely balanced and very well blended. It has a warm, sulky sweetness to it. Charmingly stroppy. Elegant and dirty. ETA: I originally did not agree that Regio smells similar to Black Orchid. However, today I wore my Black Orchid EDP for the first time in a while, and seven or eight hours after application, I kept thinking I smelled Regio. So while their top and mid notes differentiate them quite strongly for the first couple of hours, I think there is a strong resemblance that emerges later, in their base notes.

This is the most underrated of the Casomarrati line and I can see why as that carnation note would throw some people off in the opening but they would be missing a treat as this is a really well done mix of florals and citrus in a classic style, but with a dark masculine underbelly that makes it quite unique. I think of some of the older classics like Tsar and I detect some of the facets they had in this too, it has the gentlemanly touch that they also give but with the carnation as a deep and bold yet not so feminine floral mixed with its other elements, bringing a kind of earthy spicy dark floral type smell that I feel fits very well with the black color of the bottle. If I wanted a bright and happy fragrance to wear in the gentlemanly style I'd put on Mefisto. If I was in an elegant destruction mode, I'd wear Regio.

I absolutely adored this when I first put it on. It immediately smelled expensive and luxurious. Sweet, aromatic and slightly fruity top notes bonded with a soft, sensual vanilla, ambrette and clean musk. I was really confident as I ambled around the streets in Rome's Piazza Navona district, feeling as if I was smelling like an ancient nobleman on his way frim the Pantheon. However, as the heat of the day dried the perfume out, it became stripped if its magnificence, losing all the lovely aromatic sweetness it had at the beginning and instead became more floral and sharp. After an hour it began to smell very feminine and almost unrecognizable to what seduced me earlier on. It still smelled good, but no longer in a that dramatic head-turning way, just rather floral and polite. Pity.

A very interesting fragrance that has a significant number of layers that make the first 30 minutes of wear a little journey. At first spray, my nose picks up on a fruity saffron and patchouli, that swiftly gives way to a floral bouquet supported by a mélange of deep spices; pepper, clove, cardamom. A few short minutes in, the explosion of citrus happens, recalling the bitter zest of grapefruit, while a sweet limoncello syrup lingers and I have to be in the mood for. The vanilla note hovers all the while, giving it a gourmand appeal. A warm musk grows and grows, adding to the dessert vibe. The spicy floral backbone also reminded me of Man In Black which I'm fond of, and as many have mentioned, Black Orchid. The musky citrus gives me flashbacks to Royal Water.

Just received it and tried it for the 1st time. Beginning has quite much grapefruit on my skin. It's citrusy, but warm, ambery and sophisticated. I like it, and I'm sure that I will end to love it. The plum is not too disturbing (I usually don't enjoy it, as it is very sweet). I haven't smelled Black Orchid for a while, but from what I remember I don't really get the similarities that people talk about; in my memories BO was way more sirupy-earthy-dampy. Overall, Regio is quite versatile (maybe not during the warmest days of summer) and classy. Longevity is very good on my skin. My 4 years-old daughter said that I "smell like the government", though. As a libertarian, I will then conclude that the compliment factor is not satisfactory for the moment.

This is a really pleasant and sophisticated musky/spicy scent. It has prominent spicy notes, but they lean herbal and dry (mostly geranium, lavender and carnation) rather than, say, middle eastern or gourmand. The patchouli is definitely present so I wouldn’t recommend this if you don’t like patchouli. It’s also quite musky, especially in the drydown. I find it quite comforting, probably because it reminds me (as others have mentioned) of a sophisticated older gentleman. That being said I’ve worn it as a woman in my 20s and I still like it, the spicy notes make it a good choice for daytime in cold weather. Pretty good longevity.

Carnation flower (spicy clove) and cardamom on the front line, being the highest performing for the first hour. An intense play of both these notes, with tiny hints of lavender assisting lazily. It’s as if you are chewing on cloves making it too spicy for closed spaces. The freshness then emerges with musky citrusy notes of lemon and gets totally safe settling on whiffs of lavendery musk. As many have pointed below, it’s a mature scent with amazing sillage and longevity. The kind of perfume that makes me wanna be far more mature than my age while I wear it.

Tons of carnation, which is a spicy but dated note. Black Orchid isn't a good comparison. Both have a lot of vanilla, but Black Orchid, is somewhat feminine & not old fashioned. The cardamom & lavender add to the spiciness of the carnation, & the plum & ylang ylang give it a hint of fruitiness. What surprised me most was the powderiness. great projection and overall performance. It's not linear, it smells niche, but unless you're over 60, you're going to smell older than you are which I suspect was the goal of this release - older gentlemen.

I saw the Black Orchid in the notes and always thought oh no, I’m gonna hate it. Earthy dense grandma smell. One day I buy a sample and it’s not a BO at all. There’s plum and spices somewhere in the back but it’s not dense jammy or earthy - it’s juicy, clean, and airy. The top thought. It is SO sharp, floral citrus it might actually be irritating to some. It does have some kind of a retro style to it, but it’s aromatic and fresh enough to keep it contemporary. Unisex, but might lean masculine for all year round. Good performance.

The opening is pretty being fresh and frutty with a vanilla black haribo in the background. I smell the TFBO somewhere in the background. Longetivity is 12 hours easily. Overall it's a semi fresh semi sweet scent, smells like black haribo or the drink RICARD Pastis. This forumlas were made 100 years ago so treat them accordingly. I bought it blind and I don't regret it. It is way better than Mefisto but I preffer Casafutura

Regio is the Italian word for “royal” I dont know what’s royal about this one But there is something really strange in the opening of this scent It smells like a gelatin candy that looks like coke bottles Aromatic - spicy - maybe warm It’s not everyday you smell something like this it’s definitely niche I liked it but it wasn’t love or anything it’s just the smell of the candy that intrigues me

Very relaxing yet quite classical-smelling floral that comes close to vintage Ivoire by Balmain (dry herbs, meadow flowers), but less bitter and more creamy. It has that complexity of an old-school chypre, but it's much more easy to wear, really a pleasure! A true unisex, daywear friendly. I really cannot find a single flaw apart from the very high price.

@ indult - This Smells Nothing Like SMW, I Think You Mean Mefisto For The Perfume Yet Another (Has To Be Said) Well And Uniquely Crafted Perfume But Not One For Me. Definitely Get The Citrus And Floral Notes Probably Best Suited For Spring. Something Just Doesn't Sit Right With My Nose Though.... It's Like The Lemon Is Fighting The Flowers.

Although most have voted this as being more of a masculine scent, I would wear this without a doubt. It's very spicy and the cardamom really makes itself known. If you're not a fan of cardamom, step away. It's warm and spicy but has this gorgeous freshness that simmers underneath.

it smells a lot like black orchid, I dont know who down voted the suggestions, suppose the Xerjoff fans, get black orchid over this, darker richer and cheaper. this is a good dark winter fragrance with the same truffle and dark chocolate feel

Wow is this a power house! Really herbal and refreshing. The SA showed this to me saying it leans masculine but honestly I feel like a woman could wear this too. This is a super special, unique scent with amazing longevity and sillage!

I've been sampling Regio, Fiero and Mefisto. Each of them has an herbal quality to them with different twists. There is a hint of TF Black Orchid in Regio but I wouldn't call them similar. Performance is excellent. A strong like.

Love it. Dont know where the Black Orchid comparison are coming from. To me it's more in the direction of a Lighter smoother Dior eau sauvage parfum but more quality. So if you like Eau Sauvage parfum you will love this. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💪

Opens up fresh and minty (geranium) and it feels high quality in the first minutes. Dries down pretty quick to an expensive soap smell. Nice and nothing more. The quality goes away as it dries down from great to meh. 5.5/10

Hmm.. Lavender and plumb notes. dry down is much better than the opening. mostly wearable on cold weather IMO, A must try but not for keeps..

Regio is, well, interesting. Its opening was way too sweet and floral for my taste, but decided to give it a chance and some time. After the dry down, it reminded me of one of the 80's powerhouses (can't think of which one - my wardrobe is full of them) but toned down a lot and the florals amped up. Maybe it's the ambrette that does that? I don't know, but overall Regio is too mild for me and too floral. It is, however, well crafted and its scent points to quality ingredients. Regio's performance was very good but not great. I got about a good 7 hours out of it with moderate sillage. Perhaps it's a victim of reformulation from its original release.

I was really excited to try this based on reviews online, I’m not dissapointed, but surprised now I’ve gotten my nose on it. I appreciate this is complex, but I can’t get away from the idea that it is just black orchid with an anise/liquorice twist. It’s good, just not what I expected at all.

Elderly charming man perfume. Classy, stylish. Lots of old school non-synthetic pepper + vanilla + patchouli base (similar to Lord of Misrule), with flowers (carnation + lavender) in the middle and a hint of citrus on top. Good perfume, I love smelling it, but not on myself (38F).

This smells feminine to me.. I it's strange....too strange for me....but very herbal and goes into an entirely different direction than you would think..yeah not for me.

This smells very old-fashioned to me. Not unpleasant but not really something I would pay (this much) money for.

here's me taking the honors for being the first hater of xerjoff regio. While extremely well done, smooth and true to it's notes list there's something in the base or background here that I just can't get past. It's like a metallic edge paired with dry dusty ambrette seed and coriander. The citric floral top notes and musty base lack harmony making it smell quite dated and musty. Like someone sprayed citrus air fresher in a dusty old attic. Love the citrus, geranium and lavendar. Can't stand the rest. There are better lavendar fragrances out there. Top of the heap lavendar is invasion barbare, it's a powdery/green/vanillic lavendar fragrance imho it beats this hands down.

I dont like it. It smells kinda rotten and plastic. It feels like they tried to replicate Black Orchid but smth went totally wrong. I would never purchase a full bottle of it. It is a second perfume from this house that disappoints me. I dont know why i dont like the way they make their fragrances. It is always a bit harsh, a bit sharp, not unisex at all. Wouldnt recommend it if youre a woman that likes sweet fragrances. Im just so disappointed again..
