I love this perfum, I wear it for sevral years, its me :) i discoverd it sinds the beginning, i walked into a store and needed something else, so i took two samples of perfume, broght it home, and tested them, i went back and started my adiction on this scrent, its a shame they took it out of production :( but lucky i have still stock from it so i wont run out, i finaly changed my perfume when they did discontinu it,, even i have some bottles left, i alwys grab back on it.. the sweet almont it starts with that,, strong and sweet, than it goes smoother, lily-of-the-valley i smell them try the day time, together with the patchouli and vanille combined with the cedar, the musk i wont trace back. for me its soft but last all day on me, elegant, and very sensual, love it

I purchased this on the advice of a perfumer at a Seattle perfumery. It is almond, almond, almond, a bit of vanilla and musk and then almond, and more almond. If you like almond scents, which can be rather hard to find as a dominant noted parfum, try Castelbajac. You may love it. The bottle looks like a grenade and has this funky cool silver metal cord that you pull to make the spray device turn either on or off. Very different than anything I have ever tried. If you like this, try GF Donna by Giovanni Ferre. They are interestingly similar (despite not having all the same notes), ...minus the coconut and floral of GF which is a bit more complex and longer lasting.

It smells like almond liqueur. I love the scent of almond liqueur. I'd even open up a bottle of Frangelico just to smell it. I am not into wearing sweet scents, but I liked the development of this one on my skin, the kind of development I had not expected at all. Update 2020: still searching for a new almond liqueur-scented perfume. I was using my Rapid leather cream when this marzipan note reached my olfactory and I felt an overwhelming desire to get my hands on an amaretto hinted perfume. A mix with smoke or wood would add complexity to it. It would be perfect!

The Red bottle, and nothing but. Marzipan, mildly sweet marzipan with a hint of orange zest. So tender, innocent, refreshing, beautiful! It reminds me of the marzipan my father and I had in Toledo while on vacation there in 1999. It is the best Marzipan in the world. I can't find this fragrance anywhere. the clear pink glass bottle doesn't smell the same...

I just want to explain to all those who love this scent that the new 2017 Castelbajac Beautiful Day is actually the same scent as the 2001 Castelbajac (well, as same as it can be 17 years later). The perfumer is also the same - the great Maurice Roucel. So if looking for this little beauty, see if you can get a bottle of the new Beautiful Day!

I love this perfume, its so different which is what i also love about it im surprised that i like the almondy part of it as i generally dont like the smell of almond flavorings but this is beautiful I have an old sample which i am still able to wear from. It certainly has longevity.

I have a bottle that says serie limittee on the back and it does not have the two hangy things or the holes for the hangy things .....anyone know anything about this ...I can't find anything online...smells fantastic though ..any woman that wears this risks getting pregnant

one of the most UNIQUE perfumes ever devised. Not only is is beautiful, pleasant and addictingbbut has great longevity and sillage. Sorry it has been discontinued. Recommend you get it while there are still a few on ebay

I really loved this one. Impossible to now but If I can I would repurchase on a heartbeat. This perfume started my love of Almond scents

One of my favorite perfumes. So sad that its discontinued. It smells like fresh warm almonds. I love wearing this to bed.

Reveiwing a vintage miniature. Opens sweet and rich, clear marzipan aromas. Fresh and delicious. Very subtle spice, maybe some orange blossom? Softens quickly, is a touch creamy, becomes a tad nutty (almond). It leans feminine but not overly so. Even though it's "gourmand-esque" it manages to remain bright and fresh and not sickly. Gets nuttier and a little woody, remains sweet and "edible", starts to get fainter (about 15-20mins,) still noticable though and with fairly consistent wafts. In the air it does smell clean, maybe a little like detergent or white linen with subtle floral notes just behind. As it wears it becomes more feminine and the sweet florals become a fraction louder. A little later as it drifts around the wearer the marzipan note is still apparent and there are quiet proposals of fruit and, when smelt up close, something akin to face/body cream. Would suit someone in their teens up to about 40-ish. Every season except high-summer. Does seem suited to late autumn-early winter though. Is more feminine, but as a guy who enjoys the work of Maurice Roucel I'd probably wear this. If it had it's release today by a niche house they'd almost certainly market it as unisex. Performance is OK, subtle yet persistent longevity. I have definitely smelt this before, albeit a while ago. The fragrance does smell of its time (late 90's-early 2000's) if you have fond memories of that period, you'll probably enjoy this.

Mellybee - this is the best description of Castelbajac :) I was wearing this while making a honey-roast ham & was transfixed about how well the scents played together! Away from the ham, the sweet almond/gammony scent lingered, but not in a bad way at all. It is a very edible, warm scent. It is so much more than marzipan, but you need to give it time to develop. On another note, I also found drinking a hot cup of Lapsang Suchong whilst wearing Chanel Antaeus to be very enjoyable...& I noticed how well it went with Euthymol toothpaste, too! How bizarre!

Good friend of mine. Pleasant and sweet scent, with obvious marzipan note. I'm not a big fan of marzipan, but dispite of this I love this scent. Very unique, modern. Laidback. More friendly than sensuous or sexy.

To be honest I've got a bit weird association with this fragrance. In the opening there is a sweet delicious marzipan, but suddenly I am back in my childhood. We are roaming the countryside with other kids, discovering the neighborhood, peeping in through the windows of the houses, and there is what I feel in this perfume. A larder. First I behold lots of gammon and surprisingly I firmly smell the gammon in this perfume. Later I notice that there are some jars of home made apricot jam in the other corner of the larder and I can smell them too. Bizarre collusion of the notes with my skin chemistry which misleads my nose.

people are going to throw stones at me for that but...this is the worst perfume I have ever smelled. it smells like industrial toilet detergent, it is so chemical, so harsh, all notes in here are violently synthetic. to me it is like a worse version of Reminiscence MiFa, which was way too chemical for me as well. I don't understand the fuzz that is made around this perfume, prices on eBay reach a hundred euros for a bottle!!! as an other member said,either you love it or you hate it. I just cannot love it...

..how did i end up buying it, God only knows... i was influenced by its originality and i overlooked its harshness... A metallic, ill smell, headache inducing and neither masculine nor feminine - rather industrial... if not, probably very artificial... bad bad smell.. it strongly reminds me of In the mood for love by Gianfranco Ferre, although they share no common notes.. It has a soapy dry down, that in my view, fails to save the day... All in all, one of the worst perfumes i've sprayed on me.....

Holy crap, this stuff is HORRIBLE. I almost wonder if my sample has turned because I just don't see how it's possible they can sell a perfume that smells like industrial strength toilet cleaner. It was in a sealed bag, though, so maybe that's actually how this really smells. Either way, it's pretty lame to be expecting sweet marzipan and then get blasted with nasty, harsh nose stinging chemicals. This one puts the fume in perfume, for sure. Hideous.

I have, but unfortunately I could not adapt. The output is very strong soapy for me, it bothers me too. Even coming after the sweetness of the almond, the smell of the output is still bothering me! I want to get rid of it!

What a weird weird fragrance! I didn't know it has been discontinued. Actually I just discovered it accidentally in one place 20km from me. They still have one or two bottles maybe. Well, I like this one. It's not probably a perfume I would wear constantly for myself, so FB is not coming to my closet now, but it's a very interesting scent! It's so different from all the weeny-weeny-love-this-dream-that that is fashionable now. This is a Mr.Perfume! You may like it or not, but it's hard that it doesn't make any impression. On first smell I was dragged back to my childhood and I don't know exactly why! All reviewers here talk about almond... well, it has almond, but the whole composition is not all about almond. It smells much more complicated than that. It's very powerful and very very longlasting. My perfumed card is still lingering after 2 weeks! It has a very strange smell of canphor mothballs that my mother used to put into wardrobes. Ok, this is not usually a good point in a fragrance! Anyway, here it is different. It's a beautiful note that smells more like canphored incense, the type that are used in Hindu temples. Lily-of-the-valley, patchouli and cedarwood are most prominent, vanilla is not. Not a cake sweetish scent in any way! All notes are so blended together that you really need to smell with lot of attention to point them out. This is a very different and original scent, both modern and old. The bottle and box is beautiful, even if a little too modern for my kind. I recommend not to skip this one if you have a chance to smell it. Not an easy blind buy for sure.

Please try baccarat rouge extait de perfume by Francis Kurkjian: I recently tried it and it brought some warm memories to me and made me crave it. Something very familiar and dear... and here I am, awake at from 3:30 am till 5:30am trying to understand what it is that makes my heart feel so cozy .., and finally I found the distant spot from my youth from where the memory of an amazing scent was coming. I’m 2008 I got a gift that I considered too mature and heavy for me (I was18). It was a bottle of a Castelbajac perfume with a teddy bear.....after trying a few times, I gave that perfume away. It was to strong for me back then. But the sent stayed with me for up until now. After trying baccarat rouge extrait de perfume I was restless up to this moment. It smells very much like Castelbajac. It has similar notes with Castelbajac on each level. To be honest. I was a billy lie disappointed with Mr. Kurkjian, since I thought that he came Up with one of a kind masterpiece. They say, all the new is well forgotten past. I just purchased a Castelbajac to see if my nose is true to me ( it has been discounted but u can find someOnline ). I will revise this review once My Castelbajac arrives.

Jean-Charles avait pour toujours un enfant terrible....DOUX. sa mode était jolie, coloré, avec les frilles inexpectée. que je sais quand je trouve les parfums de Castelbajac mon coeur est trainer et avec plus d'anticipation. mon mémoire était non plus exacte, mais du moment je voyais le flacon rouge je sais: cette flacon j'acheter d'année 2001. quelle reminiscence, quelle nostalgie et toutes le sympathie pour Jean-Charles. aussi je pense trop a le brilliant couturier Montana et son histoire sombre avec Wallis la supermodel incroyable. le cocaine la tueuse; et il est un ombre sur les boulevards de nuit.....['cette étrange affaire avec Wallis Simpson'] et j'ai pleurer pour un an avec la mort du génie veneneuse de Karl Lagerfeld. mon parfumista carrière avait commencer sur les 70s, mais vraiment avec les 80s. j'avait 'vivre' tout le carrière du météore du KL. çe sont toutes les peuples en nuage maintenant mais trop en mémoire et avec toutes les rémerciements. [le Français d'un person Néerlandais....]

I found in a thrift store for 5$ box only a bottle of this perfume. A real deal because I saw very expensive bottles on ebay. Some are more than $150. I was intrigued by the unusual bottle design by Sylvie de France (that won a design award) and by the fact that the juice was composed by Maurice Roucel. The opening notes of orange blossom flower and almond are sweet and yummy. Really beautiful. At first I wasn't sure about the drydown, if I like it or not. Finally, I get use to it and I like it. I am really happy to get this perfume because I just discover that someone created a facebook page for the return of this discountinued perfume. It's probably the reason why there are some realy expensive bottles for sale on ebay. The women who like it really miss it.

I blind bought a 2001 (red bottle) version of this because the combination of almond and orange blossom sounded subtle, sophisticated and appealing. So imagine my surprise when I felt like I’d rubbed cheap dryer sheets all over myself. I don’t use dryer sheets, so I can’t exactly specify which brand, but this smells EXACTLY like a major American brand dryer sheet on my skin. IF I smash my face to my wrist, I get the almond. But the combination of notes goes completely generic industrial fragrance on me. Incredibly tenacious, but the projection remains close to the skin. FOR DAYS, lol. I suspect this is incredible if your body chemistry is right for it. Absolutely not for me.

I absolutely love this fragrance, but can't get it anywhere (except ebay, for a right old price!). First found it nearly 10 years ago on a trip to Belgium- despite the language difficulties and the bizarre numbered ticket purchase method of the store in question- managed to buy it. Loved it so much! Managed to pick some up a couple of years later in Paris..then the trail went dead. It is an acquired taste, warm and comforting like almond marzipan (an exboyfriend said it made me smell like Christmas cake- in a good way!) Would love to get my hands on some again, but am very doubtful of that possibility...sad.

I got some of the cyclamen at first, but quickly it went into what I call a tuberose/suntan lotion direction, which I'd don't like. I was hoping for a scent dominated by sweet almonds, but I don't get any of that here, even much sweetness. Now it is a really well-made suntan lotion type scent, with nice texture, balance, etc., but I'm not sure I'll want to wear it again. Good thing the bottle is now worth quite a bit, so I can swap it for something I can enjoy!

It is an interesting perfume quite sweet like a marzipan, a bit bitter due to almondy notes along with heliotropee, but not something extraordinary, deep or complicated, there is a youthful and playful element in it, I can clearly see a teenager rocking Castelbajac as a signature scent. Impressive staying power, nice dry down and quite comforting. I think most people love it because it is associated with pleasant memories. For me it is simply pleasant.

oh my... now i see you u delicious juice. this perfume smells EXACTLY like the almond sorbet (we call it Sharbat bethan شربت بيذان) or as in English is called "orgeat". it is an Indian drink consists mostly of almonds with sugar and a bit of milk as far as i know, so it's a sorbet after all. each time i used it i smell the almonds sorbet as if i am tasting it. it is good after all and a very new and rare to find perfumes.

Today I got to test it, after years coming after it. A bit disappointed, it sits reeeeeeeealy close to skin and the orange blossom is more proheminent than the almond note. I will give it a few more tries before a veredicto, but as for now, it last as long as Jo Malone’s or Artisan’s cologne... 30 minutes and it vanishes into thin air.

This one didn't work for me. It started as a nice faint almond scent with hints of floral, but rapidly faded into a sweet/sharp almost candy-like mix that was somehow very unpleasant. I usually like the sweet/tart candy scents but this one doesn't sit well on me and smells like it was put together incorrectly. Not a hit.

I LOVE this scent! It smells amazing on me. I normally do not go for floral scents as they tend to get overly floral smelling after some time. I love musky fragrances. This is a perfect blend of sweet, floral & musk. I wish there was another scent that worked on me as well as this does.

Pour les nostalgiques de ce jolie parfum j’ai une suggestion pour le remplacer par une nouveauté. Un deux trois soleil de la maison bastille. On retrouve l’amande amère et ce côté régressif. Un merveille avec une belle tenue. A découvrir!

I loved this one. It reminded me of a more mature version of the original cherry almond Jergens. I loved this one... sad they don't make it anymore.
