Beatrix

Beatrix is a beauty. This is a realistic rose. It smells just like my grandmother's old fashioned rose bushes. She had 2 huge ones. 1 was yellow and the other was a medium pink. I remember them distinctly. They were full of thorns so getting a smell was a bit dangerous LOL. But oh that smell was like heaven to me. When my brother and sister were kids we would visit her at least several times a week until we ended up moving next door. There was a hammock next to those rose bushes and my sister and I used to take naps in it together on lazy early summer days and fall asleep to the smell of roses. We had to enjoy them because they don't bloom long. What a special scent. I got a catalog from Casswell and Massey a few days ago and I'm glad they remembered me. I won't forget about them again. It is about time I revisited this classic and historic American brand. I will be ordering more. If you are looking for a realistic true rose scent look no farther than Casswell and Massey Beatrix. 4/20/22 I wore this all day yesterday and it had good performance. I kept smelling it throughout the day. I would forget about it from time to time while I was shopping but then I would get whiffs of pretty floral/rose musk and think what smells so good? Oh yeah it's me LOL. Beatrix smells like roses that have been heated by the hot air of a warmer than average spring. So pretty and reminds me of summers spent at my Grandmothers. Edit 6/8/22 Notes on the website are listed as follows.... Bergamot, black currant, Heritage Rose, Wild fig, vetiver, musk. I would list the accords as follows, rose, fresh spicy, floral, fruity, sweet, green, musky, soft spicy, aromatic, lactonic.

I'm so shocked to see that this scent has barely received any attention! It is such a true rose, very similar to Rose Jam by Lush. It also reminds me of rose incense, I'm sure that's the vetiver coming out. I wish it were possible to get this in a larger size. I will make this tiny bottle last! :) *edit* The dry down smells like a combination of Elizabeth & James 'Nirvana White' and Paris Hilton 'Rose Rush'. Projection and longevity are very minimal. Becomes a skin scent within an hour. Still delightful though!

Move over Chanel No. 5 and L'Air Du Temps, Beatrix is the "safe buy" perfume of 2018. You can buy this for a woman of any age, 10 - 90, and not make a bad move. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, it's a fairly true rose scent without smelling cheap like a perfume oil scent or chemically, or common. Or overbearing like Tea Rose. It lasts maybe 4 hours on my skin, and has a bit of spice. It just isn't very exciting. That may have been the point for Caswell Massey, since they also put out two other rose scents at the same time, Ros and LX48. But you don't have to worry that whoever you buy it for will be aghast at your bad taste and make you take it back. The woman may actually wear it.

A friend of mine regifted this to me and I love it. It's a true rose that smells very clean and youthful instead of hot and stuffy. It's a fancy bitch rose.

What a great billowy rose, a jammy rose! So happy to wear this. It's not a modern rose but not old fashioned either. Just a realistic rose. Eternal in fact. Rose of memory Rose of forgetfulness Exhausted and life giving Worried reposeful The single Rose Is now the Garden Where all loves end...etc...
