Classic Greenbriar

Greenbriar is a long-time love for me. The fragrance was the first vetiver-focused scent I ever tried and it kindled a deep appreciation of vetiver for me that has lasted until this day. From the opening, the vetiver is noticeable in this fragrance. In the opening, there is a citrus that accompanies the vetiver. The pyramid above says orange, but I would guess that it is actually a blend of less sweet citrus fruits, lime, bergamot and lemon come to mind, and that the neroli is adding orange notes to the blend. As the scent progresses, the neroli becomes more noticeable and is joined by some additional green elements. These are probably petitgrain and sage adding their impacts to the grassy vetiver. At drydown, here is a smooth, musky sandalwood. Depending on humidity levels, I get 6-8 hours from Greenbriar with steady moderate projection that doesn't diminish much until the final hour of the duration of this scent. The scent is grown-up, clean, slightly barbershop and elegant. It leans toward traditional masculine scent queues. I have the gold cap bottle and it looks fine, very traditional and reflecting the long history of the house. Atomizers are good and so are the prices for which this scent is sold by Caswell. Well worth a try by vetiver lovers.

Classic Greenbriar is a pleasant, inoffensive, and refreshing green scent. It is a streamlined version of classic, old school green frags but without any polarizing notes. Think Estée Lauder for Men but without the herbal notes. Classic Greenbriar is not overly sweet or bitter, and does not smell synthetic, a consistent theme I appreciate about Caswell Massey. It is one of the most refreshing and rejuvenating "green" fragrances, likely aided by the neroli and mandarin notes. And while I wish it was a better performer, it creates this unique purifying effect where you instantly feel cleaner or refreshed after spraying. So, it is an easy grab, and excellent choice for traveling or vacationing. Score: 8.5 out of 10 Would I purchase a replacement bottle? Yes, I think having this type of light, refreshing, natural-smelling green fragrance will always have a spot in my collection.

This is a scent I cannot tell if I'm ambivalent about or like. I would compare this to Green Irish Tweed. Where as GIT is sharp/harsh, synthetic, and powdery. This is more gentle, more well-rounded, and softer. With that same creamy quality.

A very nice and clean green fragrance. I found it to be almost slightly reminiscent of a higher quality green irish tweed soap bar
