Seaboard Matcha

Sampling Caswell-Massey Seaboard Matcha, one of the house’s most recent releases from early 2026, a fresh ensemble of fig, matcha, vetiver, and bitter orange, an intriguing intersection of freshness, headiness, sweetness, fruit, and earth. I really like this interplay, as it’s not a light run-of-the-mill freshie nor something too obscure or unwearable, but rather something a bit interesting and innovative while also being a bit of a cozy familiar earthy blend of matcha and vetiver, though the fig (I’d argue) is the central figure, especially during the first couple of hours. Overall, as with Distiller’s Lounge, I quite like it and would recommend that anyone try it out. This is EDP concentration and priced, like most of the house’s offerings in EDP, at $225/40 for 100/7.5ml, not bad in the current market, and I do love those this house routinely has 7.5ml travel sizes available as well as discovery sets, one of which I bought to sample this and some other releases. 7 out of 10

I'm pretty new to fragrances, although I'm an older man. I explored the Caswell-Massey discovery set that had this scent and several others (including Jockey Club EDP, which I also liked and then mistakenly ordered the Jockey Club cologne, which I hated - apparently a different scent altogether). Anyway, Seaboard Matcha opens with a light citrus character that feels clean without being sharp. There's also some spiciness in there that gives it depth, but I can't name it, maybe it's the tea. As it settles, it mellows down to a very comfortable skin scent that lasts over 6 hours on me. It's fresh but not simplistic. It feels approachable and easy to enjoy (for a beginner) with enough nuance to be interesting.
