Fire From Heaven

Very incensy, sweet and likeable. At the beggining I get incense + myrhh combo, which smells very warm, like an old church, very spiritual. It's very comforting. After the incensy opening I start to get sweet and warm resins, which are very lovely. It becomes more and more warm, I can feel cedar with it's dryness and almost medical feeling. It's lovely. Warm, incensy, comforting, snuggly. Really good, give it a try. Very different from anything else, but very wearable and actually feminine and sexy.

finalmente mi sono imbattuta nel fumoso definitivo. è come annusare della torba bruciata. come sniffare le note volatili di un whiskey affumicato. in più un magnifico sentore metallico, durante l'assestamento. notevolissimo. più un'esperienza olfattiva di pura sperimentazione che un profumo vero e proprio.

Fire From Heaven is excellent...I have the absolute which is more lasting than the water perfumes (typically) and has good lasting power...this is a tight marriage of smoke and incense that is not overpowering...absolutely heavenly...

Wow!!! Subtle, smokey, woody, resinous...all the things I love in a fragrance. It's not often a fragrance blows my mind, but this one did. It's one of those "this is exactly how I want to smell" fragrances. I must have it for winter!

Gorgeous, woody, soft, frankincense, myrrh, hint of smoke and paper. I plan to buy a full size and wear it only for myself when I want to feel calm, grounded, meditative.

This is heavenly. A little smokey and strong at first, it dries down to a wonderful sultry incense which lasts and lasts.

Fire from Heaven? Oh they wish. The most delicate wisp of distant warmth from a far-off flame somewhere in the middle distance, maybe. What I can detect of it is certainly nice - yes yes, mellow resins with a slight woody edge and a real sense of natural integrity - but the issue is that it's barely detectable in any amount and for any time after application. Obviously trying to squeeze out any real sensation from a .5ml dabber was a no-win proposition here given the determinedly discreet CB water-perfume format (and for the Nth time: o tiny dabbers, I HATE YOU ALL ...) and this might do much better if you misted every pore & stitch of clothing you have on with it, but ... I felt so little, for a concept and name that promised so much and fell square in my usual beloved home ground. If you have a super-sensitive nose or a genuine need for an all-natural formulation and want to smell of classy autumn, it may serve. Otherwise, heaven may be better sought via other means. (Incidentally: as a sandalwood veteran/lover, I really don't find it plays that big a role in here, so don't be afraid if you're leery of the note - this is more a seamless blend of generally rounded resiny things than a timber monster).

I really like this combo of sandalwood and incense - but it doesn't last more than 2 hours on my skin. This seems to be an issue with all the CB water perfumes (at least for me). Chris Brosius has created some interesting and thoughtful fragrances, but they just don't seem to have any tenacity. On the other hand, this fragrance and others from the line might suit you if you're looking for something transparent and insular.

SWOON!!!! This scent literally WOW'd my socks off. It isn't a perfume - it's olfactory heroin! I've worn it a couple days now and I must look like a complete idiot sniffing my damn wrists and smiling every six seconds. Okay sillage. Decent longevity. The drydown is much less dramatic than the opening, but it's still very lovely. I'm a huge fan of this stuff! Can't wit to try CB's Burning Leaves!

Sandalwood essential oil. That's all I'm getting :( I wanted to like this, but once I identified the smell I can't find anything else in it. After a few wears still the same. Nothing wrong with sandalwood but can pick that up from the health food shop for 20 bucks. My first foray into CB- I like the principle of the house so will keep hunting.

I really enjoyed the sample I got recently. Nice blend of woods and resins where none of the notes dominate, but instead fit together like a puzzle. Lack of longevity knocks it down a few points, but it's still a winner.

i love the composition of this one, very classical and smoothly blended, not nearly as overwhelmingly smoky/spicy as the name suggests. however, i got a sample of the water perfume, and it's veeeeeery weak (this coming from someone who likes subtle scents & can't stand high-sillage perfumes most of the time). to give a sense for how weak this is, i was trying to apply a couple drops after a shower and the bottle slipped, spilling almost a full entire mL directly onto my bare chest 😭 i panicked and just rubbed it into my skin so i wouldn't waste it, then panicked again cause i was bracing myself to be smelling fire from heaven for the rest of my life. 😬 instead, i got gentle whiffs of it for a couple hours through the evening if i smelled my hands or the front of my shirt up close, and by morning it was completely gone. it also (when i can smell it at all) smells very much like palo santo, which i have unpleasant sense memories around, & it's hard to break those associations. i'll finish off what little remains of the sample after the spill, glad i tried it, but definitely not gonna repurchase.

Bought a sample from a decanter in UK, I don't get any of the notes. all I get is the smell of an old soap. Disappointed.

I must agree w/ the review below mine: to me this smells like the glue used in book bindings (older ones) and I can't shake this impression! Something about the water base, maybe? An odd woody impression also is present giving the book vibe more cred. Not smoky to/on me at all; I don't know what to think of it! This was for the Water Perfume version: the absolute smells more like cedar shavings but I still get no smokiness at all. Strange.
