Wet Pavement London

To my nose this is a more elevated version of an early 2000's melon aquatic fragrance. I smell plenty of calone in this. I don't get any feeling of "petrichor" from this and I don't think anyone who smelled it on me would get that either. It's nice and I do keep sniffing my hand but if you told me this was a cheap men's sporty body spray, I just wouldn't bat an eye.

Opens up faintly melon with a small calone bias, but it’s also combined with a concrete-like accord, not exactly like asphalt, or even freshly laid down asphalt for that matter. Maintaining this facet, you can also make out an aquatic facet that, isn’t quite from the calone, but not really from a petrichor either, maybe in between. There is a faint green accord here however, that is a petrichor aligned facet, but its not highly notable. This profile doesn’t come off as fresh (barely so, and no spices here) as Concrete Lightning from DSDurga--a bit more raw by its name, but not unpresentable, rather wearable. Overall a faint melon, with faint calone bias, with a petrichor undertone and a mild, light-salty marine/aquatic note with an ozone bias, with a smooth concrete note that almost takes the full lead. To be on the weird side of things, this is great to give a litho-esque, rugged sensation to a fragrance since it’s pretty light (you might end up spraying a lot, since CB’s sprayables are waterborne), even from the absolute sampler I got compared to something like the Old Leather. Layer with Synthesis by Xyrena to give an outdoorsy worn in PVC pants impression, and similarly with Xyrena 66/Fischersund No54 for an even more photorealistic automotive parked on pavement picture. I would say the only thing holding this back is the intensity+durability of the profile (possibly due to being pure oil). If it were not for this, this would easily be FBW.

In my search for the perfect Petrichor/wet asphalt perfume, this was almost perfect. But the most powerful notes were that of sweetness, almost melon-like. The rest of the scent was too subtle for my taste and didn’t last long (it disappears literally after about 5-10 minutes) Update: after letting it macerate for a month, we are now spot-on Petrichor/wet asphalt as promised, and it lasts ~6hrs. I love it.

Happy to be the first one here to sing this scent’s praises. MWAH chef’s kiss just what it says on the label. It has an almost metallic tang to it. Really truly the pavement has just been sprayed down and all the oil and dirt has washed off the roads, rain dripping off a wrought iron fence fresh morning in the city smell. It smells overcast. Even if you don’t like grey days when you step outside and it’s been raining all night you can’t help but get a deep lungful of air and, even without a shred of greenery around, the air feels fresh and new. Utterly delightful and so cool. The sillage isn’t great but I have yet to meet an aquatic scent that has a wide breadth. It’s in their nature to be close to the skin. I would gladly have this as a home scent. It also plays very nicely with CB I Hate Perfumes 2nd Cumming. Gives it an even wetter tang at the end.

I like this perfume, but it's far too sweet. I know, I know: this is supposed to be a photo-realistic scent of the London pavement during a misting rain. However, I've been to London more than a few times and it rains there quite frequently, and this doesn't smell anything like the city during a rain shower. It's just sweet. No pavement, no petrichor, nothing like that. I once lost my umbrella during a downpour in Oxford Circus, and I remember the scent distinctly: sour, slightly oily, fresh in a weird way, a little bit of smoke from the busses. But this has none of that. It smells nice, but that's all I can say.
