Dans Paris

I find myself longing for this scent when Im not wearing it. Its an enigmatic soft slightly salty warm slightly sweet experience. But it has a bit of mystery, maybe from its quiet sillage, maybe from its complexity and the way its so smoothly blended that its notes are not readily identifiable or standing out against one another. It’s a very delicate perfume almost a skin scent but it’s very interesting like a super sophisticated creamy gourmand. A Madeline, a barely sweet sugar cookie with a tiny vanilla extract and a flake of sea salt, or French butter .... unsalted butter is one of my all time favorite scents so Dans PARIS has a lot of appeal to me as a scent. Whether or not I want to smell like butter- I am not sure. interestingly it doesn’t change much on dry down. And I’m basing this on a sample purchased, assuming it has not been adulterated. I also love that in researching Laurel Blossom its supposedly deeply poisonous along with all parts of the plant, which adds a fantastic subversive secret (maybe that enigmatic piece) that something so gentle and comforting is simultaneously lethal. Im curious about how the Laurel Blossom is used -- is it a real photorealistic accord -- like sweet bay (bay trees are the same family as Laurel) or is it used as a kind of conceptual ingredient for all its mythological and symbolic associations? Fragrantica has no other fragrances which use Laurel Blossom Accord in their database. The Laurel is sacred to Apollo, and its also known as Laurus Nobilis (Victory and Nobility in latin). Olympic champions wear wreaths of its leaves. The leaves have also been worn as symbols of selflessness for those who give to society and culture such as poets, academics and clergy. In Chinese mythology is associated with immortality due its very long life. And of course the idiom 'resting on laurels' -- this last one being an interesting concept for a comforting maybe even lazy fragrance that was once glorious and bright and now is soft and dusty, a timeless but aged beauty. I do like and maybe love this scent - I have a weakness for most “playdoh” fragrances - but I wonder and hope that the full bottle packs a bit more punch.

Dan Paris, my love for hopefully the rest of my life, vanilla and cardamon, a beautiful blend of notes, this is elegant, airy, soft and I will be buying a full bottle. I’ve seen people disappointed with longevity, I did get a 2ml sample of this, the ones that come in that little white box, and when I first got it I agree that longevity was awful, I actually did not like this fragrance when I first got it (but have grown to adore it), so I put it on thinking well if what they say is true the smell will be off my skin quickly and 30 minutes upon spraying on my arm, it was as if I hadn’t sprayed it at all. 4 months later (I know a long wait, tho it could have been sooner I just happened to reach for it again in that duration) I returned back to this, and it became a forever love, I’m now getting hours of longevity and people around me can smell it during its wear, so I do believe this fragrance can and will get stronger with time and patience. I think I may spray the full bottle a few times and then leave it uncapped for a while, and wait until it’s at its best. But love it very much, perfect for everyday, have finally managed to get a sample of black tie also so that’ll be on its way for me to try out, personally feel this leans more feminine.

Dans Paris is very lovely. It is a semi dense but not a heavy fragrance that pairs Vanilla and a note that smells like Amaretto with its apricot like nature and even a touch of woods. I don't think I have met this particular combination before as I am not an avid vanilla fan, but the quality of ingredients, balance and overall aroma are great. Very inoffensive and interesting There are 2 other fragrances, fans of which should check Dans Paris out: Those who love Musc Ravageur but find it too heavy, and Musc Immortel by Atelier des Ors, but find it a little hollow. It is MR EDT without the intensity of spices and that masculine character, nevertheless full bodied and with apricot twist. And in MI case, it is better combined, not as efemerical perfume with a better, and a touch more woody core. What I dislike, and I will probably get lots of dislikes and flac, all these comparisons of this to playdough, and Ambre Narguile to apple pies....I just roll my mf eyes..... It is not these fragrance fault that note of vanilla is popular, and no playdough or apple pie will smell as good as these 2 frags. Absolutely worth a sample at least. Dans Paris is a fragrance of good taste 👌🏽

The notes I smell in Dans Paris are bergamot, angelica, vanilla, musk and heliotrope. The opening is quite green and fresh, and almost a little sparkling. It then goes through a playdoh stage, where the heliotrope and vanilla are really prominent. The musk and cherry-like notes kind of compete for a while until it settles into a powdery, almondy vanilla skin scent. I’m not the most familiar with laurel, so I did some research. Apparently cherry laurel smells like cherry, and the leaves smell like almonds when crushed so it makes sense that I’m picking up heliotrope. Other varieties of laurel smell like bay leaves, and that’s definitely not the case here. This is the one and only scent in the database listing laurel blossom as a note, and I am now very intrigued. The cherry laurel is the best part of Dans Paris. I do see a lot of similarities between Rouge Smoking and L’eau D’hiver, but during different stages. This is quite expensive for the performance, so I think either of those scents might be suitable substitutes. Although I really, really like this, I would probably only purchase it at a discount because it lacks in both sillage and longevity.

I’m wearing Dans Paris today for the love of Cuir Beluga, which nothing (as yet) has managed to surpass it. Upon first spray, this is a cold and dry vanilla, which is just how I like it, as it’s not sweet. It’s like cold fridge air, with a fridge that contains milk ice lollies combined with the warm breath of gentle almond marzipan. This is delicate off-white innocence and a perfect bridal scent. I’ve sprayed it 4 times from the full size bottle and hoping it lasts. It’s simply stunning and minimalist. Someone (I’m sure) will mention Play Doh but to me, this is understated luxury. Is it better than Cuir Beluga? No but it’s different and special in its own right, and I now need this too, as Dans Paris serves as an effortless first fall of snow/plain white-T fragrance. Update: I got myself a small decant and I’ve been wearing this to work. It’s THE MOST beautiful fluffy cloud fragrance ever BUT it lasts only 3 hours (I made sure to time it) before becoming a close skin scent then fading completely. That’s not enough longevity for me however lovely it is. Those first 3 hours are bliss, but I demand more bang for my buck.

This is such a beautiful, delicate vanilla. It is quite similar to Angelique Noir although now that I own both, I can pick out more differences: Angelique Noir is much stronger and greener. She is your femme fatale / boss lady scent. She’s the confident, fiercely independent sister and nothing stands in her way. She makes her presence known. Angelique is heavy on the Angelica root, with vanilla in the background. I have to be in the mood to wear this one, as sometimes I find it a bit in your face. Dans Paris is the scent I’d imagine a graceful ballerina wearing. She’s the elegant, reserved, put together sister everyone admires. Dans Paris has more vanilla and is definitely more balanced between all the notes. I find this one much more versatile and easier to wear. I really love both scents. They are both absolutely stunning, but I do prefer Dans Paris. I don’t get the comparison to Cuir Beluga at all. That’s a scent I find vile and hate with an absolute passion! This is also a completely different scent profile to Rouge Smoking. They aren’t even remotely similar

I was very pleasantly surprised by Celine's new line of fragrances, they're amazing! But Dans Paris really stood out for me: it's an elegant twist on a scent profile that can easily smell cheap, but Celine transforms notes like vanilla and floral into an inventive, interesting concoction that I can't get enough of, it's simply stunning. It's very simple yet sophisticated, and something that I find to be a very versatile fragrance that may suit a wide variety of settings. I see how some may find it a little too sweet, but I think Celine is very clever in balancing out these sweet notes with the perfume's overall powdery quality. I would say it's a pretty safe blind-buy, it'll definitely surprise you. The one downside of this purchase is the price, but I guess you get a large volume, sophisticated bottle and of course, a really nice fragrance. The discovery set or the travel sizes may be a better option!

I really expected more from this one :/ It's a nice inoffensive smell but nothing exciting or creative. When I smelled this one I instantly get Labello smell (original blue one). Sillage and longevity is the most disappointing fact for this perfume given the fact that's it's expensive one. I have to dig my nose into my skin to smell it and even then it smells like I sprayed this thing like 5 hours ago. I don't think it's worth the price mostly because of the poor performance even though scent itself is nice. Also it remains me of Prada Infusion d'Amande but this one is softer and don't have that kick like Prada has in the opening. Thank you @Micili26 for decant !

I’m working my way through a sample set of the collection and this might be FB worthy for me. The longer it sits in my skin the cozier and creamier it becomes. It’s reminding me a lot of the deep dry down of Guerlain Vanille Planifolia Extrait. I’m not getting Cuir Beluga but there is something pastel like about Dans Paris- something confectionary, like a brittle candy coating that melts in the mouth. I think it’s the Laurel blossom that’s creating an aromatic candy effect. Light but persistent. Smells more complex than a handful of notes. Yes!!! Mandorlo di Sicilian!! It’s very close to that fragrance! It’s an almost root beer float!

I can see the similarity to Angelique Noire, however AN is much more aggressively green from the get go and dries down to sweet slightly powdery vanilla. Dans Paris is very vanilla-centric right off the bat, the greenness from the laurel blossom is just an adornment to the fluffy sweetness. There is this distinct Celine-esque pleasant powdery feeling, in fact I'd argue it is much closer to Shalimar L'Essence than Angelique Noire due to this powder nature. The performance of Dans Paris also appears to be quite good. Therefore, it won't be a redundant pick-up if you have any of the popular vanilla's from Guerlain.

The dry down reminds me soooooo much of Angelique Noire!! It’s been almost a decade since I wore my Angelique Noire out and about and recently I tried the last drops from my 2013 bottle, and it was too strong for me. When i first sampled Dans Paris today, the opening did not immediately remind me of Angelique Noire. But hours later, it lingered and OMG the similarity is uncanny, but not as loud. There is a soothing quality to all Celine’s perfumes. This one is no exception. All in the line are “cousins” of each other, but unique in their own way, perfected, balanced, beautiful.

I love Celine perfumes! But for long time I was hunting black tie which is always out of stock(whyyy?!) so one of these days I came to Celine stand as usual there’s no Black tie but sales girl give me to try Dans Paris and.... OMG! I was just blown away to..to the most beautiful corner of Paris at the most amazing beautiful cafe with the most delicious vanilla cream croissants in the world! It gave me the sweetest feeling ever. I was sniffing tester paper all day and night, next day I just bought a full bottle. I love love love it😍

I grabbed a 10ml decant as a recommendation for a powdery scent. I began to doubt my decision when I came here and saw it was feminine as I am a burly man. I applied today and I am blown away by this scent. I really don't like vanilla frags, but I love this one. It has a nice doughy vanilla powder scent. I only get the floral in the first 20 minutes. I applied 6 sprays before work and it's now at 8 hours and it is still projecting. Its very expensive and I won't buy a bottle, but ill always have a 10ml decant in the drawer.

Starts out really gorgeous and similar to ZouZou. Incredibly realistic raw vanilla with a slight bitter edge, I guess due to laurel blossom (have no idea what laurel blossom smells like). Intimate, grown-up, serious vanilla. After about 2.5-3 hours the musk starts creeping in. It's that modern intrusive musk of Erba Pura and Kirke (although dialed down to like 2 instead of 11 as in aforementioned perfumes), and it sort of ruins it for me. Overall verdict: lovely for the first couple of hours. I much prefer ZouZou.

beautiful. its a buy. a clean warm vanilla. kinda like that light airy scent u get when u first walk into an icecream shop. soap & glory made a vanilla almond body butter, this smells very similar. no cherry or shampoo vibe as mentioned by others. u WISH ur shampoo smelled like this. can smell the coriander pepper slightly but its not a turn off, barely there & not really worth mentioning. overall smells expensive. not a loud/strong scent. its more powdery or musky.

Everyone seems to agree that this is light and performs badly, I find the opposite to be true, it's a beast-mode fragrance on me, but does have a delicate vibe. On card I immediately thought playdoh, and loved that, then on skin I get more complexity, with the coriander balancing the sweet vanilla beautifully. The bergamot gives it that sheen or shimmer I normally associate with Chanel Les Exclusifs. This is definitely one of my favourite Céline perfumes.

Salty scented vanilla playdoh with cherry cough syrup Hopefully this fragrance gets better with age. I ordered a sample and it took me by surprise. There are some facets I did not anticipate. The zingy lemonness and the playdoh vanilla really jumped out at me. It does settle to a pleasant almond-vanilla. However, the journey there is too much for me. It is reminiscent of cuir beluga however cuir is a lot more smoother IMO

I really want to buy this as I love the scent, very cozy-powdery vanilla. Very versatile for daily wear, any season. Sadly, the performance is just too weak for the price. I've tried the retail bottle at the boutique & also finished the official sample. Every time it just lasted max. 2hrs and soft sillage that I hardly detect to enjoy myself.. P.S. My skin 'eats’ most fragrances a lot, may affect the performance.

Omg I sprayed this on my sleeve and it was a bright fresh citrus opening then I left the store, a couple hours later I sniffed my sleeve again and omg it was super intense sweet vanilla I couldn’t stop myself from smelling my sleeve that’s when I knew I had to get it!! It’s sooooo yummy it starts with a citrus opening then dries down to a really sweet vanilla ♡

‘Dans Paris’ is one of the best ‘Parisian chic’ scent. It’s an amazing combination of powdery soft vanilla with bergamot and coriander! It opens up a bit spicy and then the vanilla and the bergamot are really prominent. It’s green, classy, elegant and powdery, but not overpowering vanilla fragrance. One of my top 5 favourite vanilla scents for every season!

This smells so beautiful! A pastel vanilla with rounded herbal facets and a thin confectionary candy coating sweetness but it doesn’t last as long as other Celine fragrances. Black tie gives me 6 hours of projection and last overnight. Dans Paris gives me 2-3 hours of lovely projection then fizzles out. For $310 per 100ml, I need more projection.

Sweet and fuzzy vanilla that straddles lightly creamy and powdery. Sits no more above the skin, it's still there from the crook of my elbow. This is the kind of vanilla you wear on an easygoing day where you're just relaxing and lazing about, super comfy. Can be worn all year round. I'll consider a full bottle once sample is finished.

Got mine today and it is one of most unique, etherial, creamiest yet classiest semi-goumande (not too sweet kind of vanilla) powdery w/ soft spice that balances. It will cocoon you upon the drydown. Hard to find in UAE as it is not available online. It is indeed one of my chicest, most sophisticated powdery i have in my collection.

The most gorgeous scent from this line, to my nose. This is such a masterpiece! Effortlessly elegant, chic, simple yet sophisticated. The epitome of French cool, pure and simple. That vanilla is perfect, not too sweet, no overwhelming the other notes, it’s the iconic Céline Vanilla but in here, it’s just perfect. I’m in love 😍

Persian candy floss. This opens with a lovely array of pale florals immersed in a cloud of vanilla sweetness, which quickly subsides into an almost balsamic drydown with a prominent bergamot zest. Very feminine, gentle, and soft. If this fragrance embodies the color lilac in that it's serene, non-problematic, and soothing.

This is the olfactory equivalent of slipping into your favorite cashmere sweater. It opens with a soft mix of citrus and spice before melting into a silky heart of laurel blossom and almond-kissed vanilla. As it settles on the skin, it warms into a gentle musk-and-vanilla blend. It's really beautiful.

My newest love! It’s vanilla, but in a soft, powdery way without being overly sweet - truly threads a needle there. I get strong almond and that seems to add freshness. It works in summer heat although still creamy, but not Laconic. Such a gem!! Worth the splurge!!

This one is such an easy reach—a classic, powdery fragrance with Celine’s signature DNA. The coriander adds a subtle spice, while the bergamot brings a bright, uplifting touch. It’s an all-year-round love for me!

Very classy, elegant, classical -but not mainstream- powdered vanilla, very coherent with the style of Hedi Slimane, it is so pleasant to wear I really like it, but to me it's a bit weak for this range of price.

Dans Paris and Black Tie are the best from the Celine line. Both are fantastic vanillas on the same level as Guerlain vanillas (SDV, Angelique noire, Cuir Beluga). Pure French sophistication.

Anyone else get heliotrope?? It’s not in the notes, but I get a beautiful almondy heliotrope vanilla when it’s on my skin. On paper it was :( so definitely worth giving a proper wear!

Sweet, doughy, doll head, almondy heliotrope. The opening gives me more heliotrope than vanilla but eventual gets to a vanilla herbal musk. I have a 2023 bottle and it’s beastly!

This smells powdery and edible with a very ethereal quality to it. It doesn't smell anything like Cuir Beluga (I have it and wear it often). It smells like a French macaron.

I have been testing it 3 times and I still dreaming of it. It sits well on my skin. The vanilla icecream-ish powdery is not a beast but stays on my skin for 7 hours.

Gorgeous Vanilla and sweet Almond perfume, fluffy airy sweet - divine! It’s almost identical to Mandorolo di Sicilia but with more Almond.

Marshmallow, play dough, and all round uplifting scent. Quite gourmand in a musky way.

Dans Paris is lovely. I hate to keep reducing my reviews down to this smells like... X.... but in this instance it was immediate and striking association for me with L'Occitane Eau des Baux. Not a bad thing to smell like at all, in fact something of a community darling and sort after (I think discontinued right?) fragrance. You could say... Booooo! Celine charging top dollar for what is a clone of what was quite an affordable and unique fragrance, but I think all that does is to speak to the quality of L'Occitane really and just how good their products are. The difference here being a softer, very slightly more refined vanllic/powdery/smooth effect but it's only very slight because I get that wholly resinous, herbal amber which I associate with REAL, NATURAL vanilla materials anyway, but there's something of spiced, herbaceous, tonic to the Eau de baux accord, it's very medicinal to me, but the kind of medicine you might get in medeval times and I don't know if it's because of the chic packaging and the fact I know it's a Celine that I don't quite get that rawness. It's actually to it's detriment because I'd say Eau des baux is marginally better and obviously the innovator in this olfactory space, but frankly it's nice to see this represented at any price point and if you bought this fragrance I wouldn't blame you, you'd be getting a really good perfume.

Dans Paris is another great take on vanilla by Celine - this time, a delicate, powdery skin scent. The DNA of the house is very much alive here - powdery texture, soft florals, pared-back French chic. It reminds me a lot of Frédéric Malle L'Eau d'Hiver, a beautiful muted heliotrope, but with more powdery vanilla. DP opens with some bright bergamot and a hint of peppery spice, paving the way nicely to the laurel blossom note. Laurel hedges are a common feature around Ireland, but as the blossom grows high up, I haven't truly smelled one, but here, it resembles heliotrope. This hazy, almond-tinged note is a lovely addition here, and I get some sap-like greenness too. As it develops, soft, powdery vanilla slowly comes to the fore, adding just the right amount of cosy sweetness. I get some saltiness too, adding a nice contrast here. It becomes dry and softly musky as it fades, with some aromatic peppery spice lingering as it dries down. Sillage is intimate and longevity is moderate. It is feminine-leaning in my opinion, and is a year-round daytime perfume, given that it is a skin scent. A pleasant, slightly unusual yet very wearable skin scent, DP is nicely put-together and effortlessly elegant as befits this house. However, it doesn't appeal to me personally as much as others from this line - for me, I much prefer the Celines that feature orris. 3.5/5.

Dans Paris drapes itself over the skin like soft light powdered through the netting of lace curtains, quiet brightness flickering to evoke the first golden rays warming the Seine, while coriander seed hums beneath, adding a faint spiced murmur. At this delicate whispering the laurel blossom unfurls to join in the conversation, airy yet powdery and pressed between the pages of an old novel. It doesn’t bloom so much as it lingers, blending into the vanilla that follows—a vanilla that isn’t thick or saccharine but light, almost translucent, as if woven into the fabric of the scent rather than resting on top. But then comes something unexpected: a whiff of play-dough, smooth and chalky, tactile, the familiar something soft and malleable. It’s obviously more an impression than a distinct accord, but still a quiet strangeness nestled within the musky warmth of the hush early morning. Still a beautiful portrayal of skin and nostalgia like the last traces of perfume on a scarf worn through a city of fleeting adultish small talk, and well, play-dough gossip.

The fourth full-day wear from my discovery set of 11 Celine fragrances. Dans Paris is sort of a strange one, and my impression seems to differ from what other reviews say. Dans Paris opens with an intense coriander/cilantro on my skin. Just like when chopping fresh cilantro leaves, I get a spicy, clean, citrusy aromatic aroma with overtones of soapiness. Dans Paris is by FAR the strongest performer of the Celine's I've tried on skin. I am able to smell it clearly at all times. 4 hours into the wear, Dans Paris has morphed into a sweet, green, citrus-y, fruity, vanilla scent. It reminds me a lot of the frozen sherbet push-pops for kids. Not powdery, but creamy. Still a little aromatic. To me, this lacks the orris or oakmoss that the rest of the line is built on. Very unique and well constructed. Not an immediate love for me, but it's probably the most interesting I've tried from Celine so far, and I could see it being a sleeper hit that I return to later. I also *love* the name. 3.5/5

Received a sample of this when I ordered nightclubbing. It's a beautiful, soft, powdery scent. I must say, the powdery notes makes this smell almost exactly like PlaydohTM, but I don't mind, in fact, I actually really like that. Unfortunately it does not last long.. AT. ALL. And there really isn't much projection, it's a skin scent through and through. I can't say I would ever buy this though. It's incredibly expensive for what you are getting, IMO, and I know most of you would not like to pay over $200 for a one note, barely-there playdoh scent. Although I won't be purchasing this, I am going to cherish the sample I received. It's certainly a fragrance that has left an impression on me EDIT 5/27/21: I just got a bottle of Jaipur Eau De Parfum by Boucheron and I dare say that it was the inspiration behind Dans Paris. It's more dynamic and the drydown smells EXACTLY like Dans Paris. Oh and it lasts MUCH LONGER.

A unique shimmering vanilla on initial spray gives wow factor and love the top notes which dance on skin. The drydown is a vanilla like unsweetened raw cake batter, staying flat linear. It's not juvenile but "cute". This is the vanilla note type that is paired with heliotrope which give it almond-cherry-playdough nuances. It's similar to the vanilla in Rouge Smoking (but that is much more extra). I also did a side by side with Cuir Beluga and the vanilla note is a similar heliotrope kind, but suede in CB makes it a different fragrance altogether being much more dense, powdered, and elegant.

Smells luxurious, sweet, and the laurel blossom accord charms- it is not a recognisable scent where I live, so it has been a joy to experience this flower in this fragrance. It is no surprise that this is well blended, as are all Celines in the line. I wonder if Cuir Beluga and Vanille 44 really offer similar experiences, ordering decants of those, because while Celine’s DNA for their line is addictive to me, I find that sillage disappears after 2-3 hours, but maybe I need to try overspraying this, and asking people around me if they smell me.

Dans Paris is a fluffy, floral, slightly powdery vanilla. It smells fresh, comforting and familiar. However, it’s unique. While it reminds me of many things, it doesn’t actually smell like any of them. Angelique Noire is much greener with lots of pear. Dior Addict is fresher, spicier and is a more ‘in your face’ type of perfume. This is pretty, demure, unassuming, relaxed. It’s something that might not read as a perfume, but more like the amalgamation of someone’s hair and body care. Approximately 3 hour wear time with an intimate projection.

Another beautiful vanilla from Céline! This is a playful vanilla, sweet and spicy. The coriander brings something interesting to the perfume. Some people mentioned a medicinal smell or cough syrup, that’s probably because of the smell of laurel blossom, bergamot and coriander. But I personally didn’t think about it. For me the dry-down is powdery and sweet, reminds me of retro French perfumes. Very lovely! _____ Sillage & Longevity : 9/10 Originality : 8/10 Quality & Value : 8/10 8.5/10
