Un Été Français

This is a greener less gourmand Sunkissed Goddess, imo. I'm not mad, it's a like from me.. nothing stands out to really elevate this into something outstanding though. I like my perfumes to have longevity, but sillage isn't so important to me personally. This is not a loud fragrance by any means, but it definitely lasts on my skin for 8+ hours There's a strong hit of green for only a couple minutes on the top then it settles into the sun tan lotion smell. I do really like the hit of green, albeit brief! A few hours in its sun tan lotion with a dry vanilla backbone. UPDATE: Changing to a love! Don’t know what it is but the overwhelming sun tan smell isn’t as striking as my first wear/impression. I swapped out for a couple different fragrances over the last couple days but I couldn’t get this out of my mind! Yes, the similarities I’d originally noted are still present, but I’ve grown to appreciate the florals here as well. They’ve really opened up and are giving a delightful floral melody throughout! She’s become a dry creamy vanilla floral. I’m always a sucker for greens and Celines (lol), and this one is wrapping me in my own little delicious cloud 🌿🥥🌼

This is absolutely beautiful! I got a shared 10ml from a friend recently, and at first it was a little sharp... bright citrus and neroli. It reminded me of Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Vetiver Harvest and Forte. But more so the forte because of how creamy it is. But now that it's been a few weeks and it's has time to settle. I tried it again today and I am sooooooo in love with it. It's so intoxicating. I smell a lot more pillowy and creamy vanilla mixed with a fresh citrus/Neroli/petitgrain combo. It's absolutely gorgeous. Now that it's settled, that true, beautiful Celine vanilla that we have all come to know and love it's definitely present here. It definitely steers away from Dans Paris, Black Tie, and Night Clubbing. It's in the same family as Cologne FRANÇAISE and Parade. But this one out does the latter. It's the decadent Celine vanilla in this for me!! FB worthy!

Yeah yeah, I’m commenting yet again! I’ve got to make a few more notes on this. I have fallen HARD for this one. I’ve worn this every single day (minus maybe 2?) since I got it about a month and a half ago. My bottle is nearly half-gone as well! Both of these facts are genuinely unheard of for me. I cannot help myself, she is DELICIOUS and profoundly beautiful on me! Longevity is ~7-8hrs so I reapply when I get home if I’m going out again. This really re-ups the green notes and projection. I LOVE Celine’s vanilla and imho, I believe this fragrance is its most complimentary blend. I get a dry vanilla mixing beautifully with the yellow/coconutty gorse. The other notes flank the heart and work so this never veers into cloying territory whatsoever. So so well blended. 10/10 would wear again.. and again. 🤩

Oh my gosh! I know a lot of the comments before me mentioned sun tan lotion or cleaning products but on my skin, this is divine and I am so happy I finally have Un Été Français in my collection! It’s sharp at first, yes. The Petit Grain note, surely. It is floral and so fresh and full of sunshine too. As the fragrance develops, I do get that hint of sunscreen people are mentioning but not in a bad way at all. It’s more aromatic to me than anything else. The sweetness of the vanilla comes last mingling with the aromatic notes in the dry down and though it isn’t sweet per se, it has that particular Céline Vanilla that I love. It’s the same note found in Dans Paris or Parade. I love their Vanilla! All in all, it’s a love for me, I am thrilled to have it!!

As a guy, this is so fantastic as a standalone or layering scent in the summer. The suntan lotion vibe is real but in a beautiful way that radiates class and smells exactly how I feel on a perfect summer day. Easy to wear at the office or out on the water. It is not overwhelming, and seems to last much longer than other Celine fragrances. It still has that classic Celine DNA and goes great with Parade. If you love fresh summer scents (that actually smell like summer) this will likely be a hit for you too.

An effortlessly chic bitter green vanilla, my favourite out of all Celine fragrances. I was surprised to see there isn't a tuberose note because this is all I could smell; very green, very creamy, similar to FM Carnal Flower but more demure and wearable. The notes aren't what I would usually enjoy, but there's just something so addictive about this that I'm actually considering a fb. Last quite long on my skin, projection is okay. A prominent choice for spring and summer!

Just got this as I received Parade, and surprisingly Un Ete Francaise is much stronger and long lasting than the other Celine fragrances. Nice Neroli opening that recalls Parade but lasts quite a longer time and is much much stronger than the latter. However the dry down is TF Soleil Blanc with more vanilla and too strong for my liking. Will test again but at the Celine price point I think there are other better options for spring-summer.

Just received this in the mail and I can see the similarities with Maison Margiela's Beach Walk. This is more refined though. At first I wasn't sure, given the cost of Celine fragrances, that it's worth it. But the longer I wear it the more I keep smelling my arm and am really starting to love it. I think this would be beautiful on a warm summer day. Still deciding and will update review after I've tried it a bit more.

This is amazing. Loved SB by TF but never enough to purchase. This perfected that dna by ridding the coconut, and heavy dosing vanilla. 10/10 FBW also smells like a toned down on the beach by LV. Which I’m happy about. I love otb but it’s a bit polarizing for some occasions. This is work appropriate with similar vibes.

I feel like I'm stalking Celine at this point waiting on this release! 🥲 I'm so excited to try this one and I've got a strong feeling it's gonna be a love!

A mix between Parade or St. Germain des Pres and Soleil Blanc which I all love. Beautiful summer fragrance.

The only Celine that speaks to me. Soft, creamy vanilla overlaid by a veil of green petitgrain and neroli. Gorse has a slightly dry coconut or nutty scent, and it really helps to soften the stemmy and soapy qualities of the other florals. A scent for spring and summer that feels clean and natural, but also elevated and luxurious. This differs from the typical Celine DNA because it doesn’t have orris, which is why I like it so much. And, the performance is better than other Celine fragrances: around a 4-6 hour wear experience with intimate projection.

This is quite an interesting scent because it shifts between being a photorealistic sunscreen and an airy, citrusy vanilla. One day I wear it and it makes me want to head to the beach; another day, it smells like a bright, vibrant blend of petitgrain and vanilla with a luxury vive. I think the main culprit here is gorse; since that note can sometimes come across as coconutty, and that really amplifies the beachy vibe. Whatever it makes you feel, this fragrance is undeniably beautiful. A happy, luxurious holiday scent.

Beautiful, tender fragrance that I wore mostly at the beginning of the summer. Perfectly balanced florals, greenery, and vanilla. Definitely has that Celine DNA and doesn't reinvent the wheel in terms of originality. However, it is beautifully done. Savouring my travel size, but probably won't go the FB route. Until next summer....

It's fine, more of the same though. I think it's about time they changed it up a bit, something darker and edgier, even just slightly. This is just another soft Eau de Cologne smell over a pillowy vanilla base, beautiful but very similar to half of their existing scents.

Fresh, green, tart and somewhat salty orange blossom scent with powdery undertones. I also feel a lot of fig leaves in it, even tho they are not listed. Smells very clean and expensive! Follow me on ig: scent.guide

It reminds me of an oriental dessert from the Fatami era in Egypt, “halawt el moulad”, something like Nogat

This is my 6th addition from Celine and I’m so disappointed! I get NONE of the DNA from the house that I love! No powdery, almond, vanilla, light floral warmth- just sharp greenness and sour smell. Who wants to smell like this?? Ugh. Not for me!

Ooo this is so chic. I sampled it in Selfridges and I wasn’t keen at first, it seemed too herbal and field like- I’m guessing that’s the petit grain. But then I went to Cartier and it felt perfectly suitably elevated and chic and sophisticated- it had morphed more into the jasmine and neroli and was beachy and summery but highly elevated. Then after somewhat of a while it morphs into the cosy, chic, sweet and powdery Celine vanilla that’s similar to Dans Paris but I think with a more summery neroli vibe. It’s also long lasting and projects well. I was thinking of Parade as an alternative but this lasts much longer and projects much more. Complete love for me I went back and bought the £50 small bottle which is rare for me. Because of this now think I can’t be without this elevated vanilla and need Black Tie for cooler months.

I tried my sample today and instantly fell in love, but I couldn't quite put my finger on why the scent felt so familiar. Then it hit me - I have the oil versions of both the neroli and orange blossom by Ortigia, and I usually layer them because they're my dream team on very hot and humid summer days. Soleil Blanc too, now that I think about it. Un ete francais smells incredibly similar, although a little sweeter than Ortigia and more citrusy than Soleil Blanc, and much more long lasting. It opens with a bold hit of neroli, in all its bitter green glory, but as it starts to settle it becomes increasingly creamy, leaving behind a balmy, salty feeling - like the scent of your skin after a day spent sunbathing on the French Riviera. It's incredibly chic, just like the rest of the Celine offerings.

Fresh citrus, not sweet, petitgrain and some vanilla but the vanilla is very very faint. I get mostly a lot of citrus from it and overall it has a beachy clean vibe I would say. It’s not my style but it’s okay. Nothing unique, you’ve probably smelled something like this before. I can see the resemblance to sun tan lotion as the review below mentions, which isn’t my thing. It’s not exactly that though to my nose more like a mix of sun tan lotion and a cleaning product. I think the strong citrus notes make for that cleaning product feeling, to me anyways. They are sharp, especially at first. Soft, close to the skin performance. Very overpriced imo. Must really enjoy neroli. Unisex. Easy pass for me.

When I first tried this on at the store I NEVER imagined I’d like it so much. I sometimes find neroli to be cloying and overpowering. This is so beautifully blended. I saw another reviewer describe it as chic and I fully agree. It’s a very sophisticated summer fragrance that wears super well and projects a lot better than most of the Celine fragrances. It’s absolutely stunning layered with Parade or Eau de Californie (especially with this one!). I don’t get sunscreen smell on me. To me it feels more beachy in an ocean vibes/smell way. It can definitely transition into fall layered. Perfectly unisex. Solid new fragrance from this house.

I think everyone is smelling something completely different from what I am. It's definitely a white flower bouquet, but the top is very green and sharp, like petitgrain, perhaps with a hint of galbanum, and the body is definitely tuberose and lily. It immediately reminded me of Carnal Flower. But I've also understood that other people describe it as Lys Mediterranee. But I want to be clear here, it's not a perfectly “coconut-suntan oil” scent like Soleil Blanc - it has only a hint of that. It's a green and white flower that would be suitable for summer.

Creamy white flower scent, like Soleil Blanc LITE, a little greener from the neroli/petitgrain and less spicy. I like this a lot better than other solar type florals— it feels like it’s not trying as hard. The Celine Haute collection has a consistent theme for the most part, a “purple” feeling with light, sheer musk. This one does not really fit (it’s more of a yellow) but I still appreciate it. Of the florals in the Haute collection, I like this less than Parade but more than Saint Germaine Des Pres

Wow, this is not it. I get zero vanilla or sweetness. It doesn’t smell beachy in the least (as some of the reminds me of section suggests.) I get straight herbal notes and neroli with a bit of Jasmine. Smells also a bit like soil and/or a garden. The jasmine (and other florals I’m guessing) begin to come out more in the dry down and it morphs into more of a basic white floral fragrance that you’ve smelled a thousand times before.

Why does everything have to be creative? What is wrong with enjoying something simple and pleasing? I have never expected anything inventive from Celine. I will admit zou zou was a flop for me, it didn't feel like a Celine.

Sharp green watery vegetal at the beginning then it mellowed rapidly into an elegant green and white floral; perhaps a wedding at the Villa del Balbianello on a perfect afternoon.

I think Hedi’s Celine is the closest to Vipiana’s vision. The whole haute parfumerie collection encapsulates the bourgeois style perfectly. We’ll miss you Mr.Slimane!

Juicy! Neroli in perfumes is like gin in cocktails - it will always dominate the composition no matter what. Reminds me of Nuxe's Huile Prodigieuse.

Another weak vanilla? wow, Hedi Slimane is a true creative force in the fragrance world for sure...

This perfume is a slightly greener and slightly less sweet version of Mizensir’s Solar Blossom.
