Mother Earth in a bottle GAEA from @centauri_perfumes ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Take: The initial blast is mainly directed towards the effervescent green field on a sunny day through a massive blast of green, almost herbal(bitter watery) like nuance. The herbal tone nods to a dark leafy touch, building almost a savoury leafy accord, which reminds me of a particular molecule I remember playing around with, artemisia absinthium or wormwood. In about a minute, an earthy, almost petrichor-like tint emanates (which hints at a terpene molecule known as Geosmin), all enclosed by a rather abstract sphere of a waxy honey note. This fundamental transition reminds me of our mother earth transitioning from its initial minimalist(sunny green field) scheme towards a land of pollination, where plants are being reproduced through the transmutation of pollen-carrying bees in a damp forest, tunnelling between motia flowers. Bees, to me, are the macroscopic building blocks of nature, without which flower-fruits-seeds, i.e., the mobile nature, would've diminished. This honeyed-soil combination exists throughout the entire fragrance span, following the green-leafy aspects. With the warmth of skin, the radiative factor of the more volatile molecules like wormwood envelopes the ambergris and orris butter, which takes over the entire structure, keeping the greener aspects in the back. The ambergris here smells more like white ambergris tincture than black, keeping the salty, oceanic musky element intact, which transitions to the principal constituent of our earth, "oceans". The orris butter here gives a smooth skin-like smell; almost feels like the touch of the loved one, someone that cares for you and us. Mother nature, this colonized "Pale Blue Dot" thats going green needs to be preserved and taken care of. Peter my brother, thank you for sharing your expertise and mindset with the philosophical-physical oriented people that are into perfumery. Respect! This fragrance accurately depicts how the earth would smell in the absence of pollution. Sharing a very similar ending to what Le Mat by Mendittorossa did to me. A smooth, happy ending. Perhaps this time, it's all an imagination, which might never prevail.

Niche is back! This is a super realistic depiction of nature and a piece of olfactory art. Smelling this you are instantly transported to a forest with all its nuances. It's the outdoors bottled up. Something I thought was impossible. It opens up very, very earthy with a lot of Honey and green notes. Although in my mind, it's not something I would call a green fragrance. The honey note is the most beautiful honey, I ever smelled. It's still on the honeycomb with some propolis and bees sitting on it. Very orgnanic. It is wonderfully complimented by roiboos like Iris. To me, roiboos smells a lot like honey. The sweetness is counterracted by wormwood which makes this a tad too bitter. The bitterness subsides later on. As it develops, you can smell delicate florals. They are masterfully blended, gentle and ethereal, conjuring an image of forest fairies. For me, it's a feminie leaning, spring fragrance to enjoy outdoors. Preferably in my own company. The bottles and presentation from The House of Centauri are absolutely stunning. Overall 9/10 for me.

This smells fantastic. A big dose of honey in the opening of the slightly powdery variety. Wormwood gives off a slightly herbal feel with some tea nuances going on maybe from orris giving it the greeness in the opening, but I don't consider this earthy. Then an apple accord comes in, and this is my favorite part. If it stayed in this stage it would be 10/10! But the florals become stronger and the apple fades and the composition is a bit feminine in my opinion. I don't get the earthiness (soil or dirt notes) until deep in the drydown on my skin, if this appeared earlier on in the development I think it would be more unisex. But overall a great fragrance I would love to smell on a woman, but still enjoy on myself. Overall 8.5/10 Update: I asked 3 people to smell this fragrance off my skin, 2 male & 1 female. Proud to report that all 3 thought it smelled "really good" and it was a "wow!" for the lady.

Really a beauty from Peter , it’s not like anything I have smelled before , this perfume is really alive , on clothes it doesn’t show much , but on skin this really evolves , it starts with a fresh greeny notes mixed with a creamy orris butter ,which on my skin smell almost like a milky note , slowly a natural honey note comes to play with beautiful white ambergris and sandalwood . When I went out on sun the honey note become little stronger and I was worried it might become cloyingly sweet but when I returned to shades the milky orris butter came back and mellowed the honey making it a milky honeyed woody scent with a beautiful ambergris on base .. Such a beautiful fragrance .. I would give 9 out of 10 to this one .. Beautiful scent ...🙏

One of the most unique fragrances that I have ever smelled, but the best way. It starts off with a burst of Worwood and Patchouli to present those earthy, green notes and to convey that this is Mother Earth herself. These notes persist throughout the fragrance, but are joined by the sweetness and grace of honey and beautiful florals - Gaea’s true heart. It finishes pleasingly and springs eternal. The reason I adore this fragrance, is because it reminds me of hot summer’s days in South Africa, when the sun is shining, but the heaven’s open up abruptly. Well known to locals as a “Monkey’s Wedding”. My new Rainy Day fragrance took me by surprise and while you have to love green notes to appreciate this, you won’t be disappointed.

This fragrance is everything. It is dark and earthy and resinous. Has the most beautiful soil note i have ever smelled. I blind bought this bottle nad have absolute no regrets. In fact, i also purchased deandrea, elixir, and om after getting my nose on this. None of them disappoint. I simply adore this dna. This fella Peter is a genius. And i want to know him and listen to yo his story. Bc if scent tells his story so vividly and so accurately, his eyes must do the same. Im a weirdo. But im okay with that. Love love love. For reference, prior to this my main jam was/is terroni layered with boccanera by orto parisi. Not similar it all... Just a reference point.

Oh man... Earthy and dirty but sweet with the honey. Unisex or male. Definitely leans more masculine but a confident lady could pull this off for sure. I got this as a kind sample with an Ivory Route I bought, and I LOVE it. If you can sample first it’s wise as this is unique juice, but wow... this is awesome.. Will be buying a full bottle. Just looked at the Centauri website and you can get a 2ml sample from there for £5. Do it !!

An olfactory wonder for someone's first release. Complex, beautiful, development, storytelling.. it has it all. This fragrance transforms from dirt to honey apple tea to opulent floral and back to a green earth woodiness. A perfumer to watch for the future if this stunning fragrance is only the beginning.

I still have two samples of Gaea, and I will likely always regret not purchasing a full bottle when I had the opportunity.

It’s very difficult to convey my feelings about this perfume because they are so disparate but to use the cliché ‘love/hate’ is an understatement. The negatives are that I couldn’t wear Gaea, and not due to the honey notes which I actually think are very nice in this big, bold, authentic context against the atomic fruity note in here. It’s that syrupy, hyper pineapple smell of chewy, fruit salad bars (or something?) which eventually settles and subsides to a degree but still makes it a big no no for me. Now the positives are that I did say wow! When I first sprayed it because from a technical & originality aspect it’s instantly arresting, bold, and makes a big statement with a few olfactory ideas being conveyed simultaneously and feels like a layered composition instead of a thundering great Indy lump. As I mentioned Gaea does become cloying (to my tastes) shortly after but all the while I can feel the base, the green undergrowth slowly creeping into the fruity/honied vibes adding a naturalist layer. The best thing is the base, wait for it to settle right down and that’s where the rewards are waiting to be found it’s rare that you actually smell ambergris in perfume, it’s more of a fixative or exalting agent which improves ANY composition whether you overtly smell it or not. Here you do though, vague buttery, animalic saliva, breath on warm skin. It’s ultimately not for me but very, very interesting indeed, I’m curious to know what mixture of materials Peter used to create the fruity accord in here? It’s very potent to begin with but settles down quite mellow (thankfully) and long lasting Update: That vague animalic ambergris becomes marginally more skanky and shades of the civet replacer and dirtier element of ambergris that is for the most part completely shrouded in the fruity, honied opening and majority of the wearing experience.

Centauri Perfumes Gaea is one of the house’s original two releases. From the initial spray, it’s some measure of resinous, earthy, musky, floral, and fruity. Its nuances seem numerous and it does not remind me of anything else in particular. It’s artistic, and reminds me of daring scents from the likes of houses like Slumberhouse and Fzotic. Some key notes are tuberose, orris, wormwood, musk, honey, and ambergris. It’s fairly smooth and well-connected, and whereas there sweet and bright touches throughout, I feel continuously reminded of Gaea’s earthy qualities above else, fitting for a fragrance named after goddess mother earth. Gaea is rich and dense, noticeably more a year-round or even cool-weather-leaning fragrance, in contrast to the more spring/summer-leaning Proxima, and in that respect, its value is even higher. I quite like Gaea though its particular style of an earthy/resinous blend, first and foremost, with supporting floral touches, isn’t my personal favorite style. I could see it doing very well with fans of artistic and creative fragrances, as it’s fairly unique, and does not adhere to any mainstream genre or occasion/gender-designation. In the US boutiques of Ave Parfum and Luckyscent, Gaea is priced at $135 and $145, respectively, for 30ml. It’s available for £98 directly from Centauri itself, based in the UK, but I’m not sure of the shipping cost to the US. 7 out of 10

This is, as others have said, challenging. I sprayed it on paper first, it lasted for days, and I didn't know what to do with it, so two weeks went by before I dared try it on my body. On my body it comes alive and it is complex. Various parts stand out at different points. It is interesting to wear. Honey is the most obvious note. And then, well, dirt, I suppose. And some flowers. I do notice the rose from time to time. Not the apple. Both in the immediate beginning and in the later dry-down, there's something animalic. I suppose, the ambergris. That later becomes dominant, even if the honey still is there. It becomes like some sort of animal secretion. That actually becomes my favorite part, the morning after I sprayed it. One spray is enough, by the way. But it is somewhat of a love/hate thing. I'm not sure I like it, but it is also sort of addictive. I could imagine liking it better and better with more wearings. I'm not sure I would expect anybody else to like it, though.

This is so well blended! It's really difficult to distinguish any notes in particular, because they all meld together so harmoniously. It's green, it's earthy, it's sweet, it's bitter... it's everything, all at once. And it may be the nose beautiful honey note I have ever smelled in a perfume! Weird though this may sound, imagine layering Zoologist "Bee" over EDLO "Hermann a Mes Cotes", and you'd be somewhere in the region of this. It smells like a surprise rainfall on a hot day, while you're sitting in the garden drinking lightly honey-sweetened iced tea. I am so glad I bought a sample of this! I don't know if would ever use up an entire (gorgeous!) bottle of this, but I could see myself buying another sample/decant. Very unique!

After wearing this for several weeks, I must say, despite my initial ambivalence, it has really grown on me, and it is now something I will wear regularly. It is interesting to wear, as it is both complex and evolving, and there's something that will always be present. It is incredibly long-lasting. I would never put on more than one spray. However, that's still there the next day, so much so that I very well could skip a day and it would still be noticeable. I just found my original paper test strip on my desk from more than two months ago. The fragrance is still perfectly recognizable. My wife likes it, particularly the initial green honey part. I honestly didn't expect anybody else to like it.

You're boiling under the sun in a thick garden on the hottest day of the year. Hypnotized by the clouds of bees swarming around with sticky delight--their little furs coated in buttery pollen--you collapse. Slowly, surely, you come to, waking to the solace of the cool garden floor. You decide to rest under the leafy shade to recuperate, plucking an apple from your satchel for stamina. As you take a juicy bite, you wonder if you had been a bee in your past life, buzzing around the very same garden, forever in search of sweet nectar and peace with the hive. Oh wooow. This is different! Super earthy and green. I feel like I'm walking in a fresh honeyed, ripened fruit and mushroom garden, barefoot in fresh soil. Really potent, realistic, fresh and sweet. I might just keep this sample, it's so nice. Not sure I'd wear a full bottle's worth. But the honey note alone here is probably worth it. If I didn't have Bee I might go for the plunge! I would pay for a bottle of the dry down.

First, the bottle is cool, but slightly tacky. The bottle express the concept, very well thought out. The cap is nice and heavy. The sprayer is very good. The fragrance is very high quality. In fact the olfactive DNA reminds me a lot of House of Matriarch. For instance, the vibe is very close to The Longing imo. The opening is green in an earthy way. Almost "mushroomy" and rooty. Semi-dark. The honey is noticeable in the opening but quickly fade away. Tuberose, Orris and a touch of rose become more and more present together with the green earthiness. This fragrance is alive. It fit the concept very well. I think you should like tuberose to love this fragrance. On my skin it is quite dominant. Gaea is not a fresh playful green leaf fragrance with green apple, as the notes could give an impression of. This is a dark green mysterious forest and I personally do not get any green apple (I must admit I was hoping for a stronger apple note). It is not very versatile in my opinion. Work? No. Date? No. Gym? No! Nevertheless, many fragrance lovers would appreciate this work as art. The fragrance has many stages. It is a process. The opening is the best for my taste. The dry down is for the tuberose lovers and those who tend to like their perfume on the feminine side of the scale. The performance on this is explosive. It survived on my hand over 24 hours included two showers. Overall, not the most easy to wear and quite a bit on the feminin side. Edit: After owning this for a while, I find it very hard to wear. Its loud and feminin, too much tuberose, too much rose, too weird, and slightly dirty which is not what I want to smell like in public. Its like a mix of vintage women fragrances and a house of matriarch release (The Longing). Not a fit for my taste.

Recommended sniffing for goths who love cemeteries. This is very appropriate for October and Halloween. Everything doesn't have to be office safe. Fragrance can transport you and this fragrance, Gaea, captures the loamy nature of a forest floor. It actually reminds of me of BAT by ZOOLOGIST. My favorite forest floor fragrance that's also wearable is Une Amourette Roland Mouret Etat Libre d'Orange I certainly feel that this house is creative to the core and I appreciate that but Dendera and Gaea are both unwearable for me but boy are they interesting to sniff. -
