Perfume de la Tierra

What a surprisingly lovely blind buy! It's sweet, a little fruity, clean but not overly soapy. It creates a nice scent bubble around me that's a fruity unisex with a hint of wood. On my wrist, I get more tonka and jasmine, and something vaguely phenolic which almost gives a gasoline quality that I don't hate, which I'm thinking is possibly the driftwood. The fruitiness is not necessarily peach, though? It's hard to pin down but it does remind my of the guava trees in my grandmother's yard. It verges on shampooey but stays confidently in the realm of fragrance. I am not getting a lot of pepper or vetiver, and really no basil, but I'm at about the hour mark so it could come later (I'll check in with an update). I would say it flirts with being powdery but doesn't really get there. It's almost like clean laundry. Overall, really pleasantly surprised with this one. I could see wearing this anywhere. I tend to like a woody unisex (I usually wear Sweet Do Nothing most of the time), and this is comfortably in that realm while giving some fruity sweetness that I can't usually find in my kind of scent. The fruitiness, and this may sound weird, is a specific kind of hispanic fruitiness? I am Mexican and Cuban and this feels weirdly on brand. It's not berry sweetness or pie sweetness or feminine fruity body spray sweetness. And it's not tropical either. It's just very hispanic feeling to me. I dunno. I really dig this! Update! It's now end of day and I've been wearing this for hours. Wow. It's phenomenal. It lasts like crazy and projects gently all day. It's not a bomb and it doesn't fill a room but I definitely smell it radiating from me. It evolves beautifully and becomes nicer by the hour. The phenolic quality goes away after the first hour or so, and the vetiver starts climbing out. The ginger shows up here as well, and the jasmine fades but still keeps everything afloat. It becomes woodier and spicier but it seems to settle into the skin more and more and just morph into this beautiful musk. It seems familiar but I can't put my finger on it. It develops that quality of a t-shirt with lingering cologne and a bit of clean sweat on it, and the remnants of a nice detergent. It's absolutely gorgeous. The fruitiness fades away until all that's left is a gentle bergamot. The tonka is there making everything kind of creamy and cottony. The notes just meld into a perfect blend, nothing fights anything else here. I am truly blown away with this one. At the price point ($60, for a 50 ml, $52 with an influencer code I found on a YouTuber's review), I really cannot believe the quality. I have never had a blind buy go this right. If you like the notes, you will probably really like this one. Also, and this may not matter to some, but I'm a bottle snob and I will fully skip a good perfume over an ugly bottle, but there's no issue of that here. Perfectly lovely packaging that looks great on a shelf.

I reviewed previously, but after a few months of daily wear, I have to update. This is astounding, and has rapidly outstripped all of my high end niche to become my signature scent. First of all, the price point is ridiculous. $65 for 60 ml?? I have ridiculously expensive perfumes from ridiculously expensive houses (D.S. and Durga, Regime Des Fleurs, By Kilian, Matiere Paris, Oribe, etc), and not one of them performs as well or smells as good. This is astonishing. The fact that this is from a haircare line and absolutely stomps brands that try to charge $200 for a 50ml is unhinged. I'd honestly be humiliated if I were one of these brands. I'll take D.S. and Durga as an example. I have Freetrapper, Crystal Pistil, Missippi Medicine, El Cosmico, Jazmin Yucatán, and (truly a favorite) Sweet Do Nothing. At best, their perfumes fade away to nothing within hours (SDN, MM, JY) and at worst turn into a lingering stench that gets worse with time (EC, CP, FT, some of which become cheap aromachemical messes within two hours). This is truly a masterpiece. Even if the notes are not to your taste, the scent story evolves from first spray to ultimate drydown, lasts forever, evolves on skin in a way that is distinct from fabric. It is truly a triumph. Well done, Ceremonia.

People sleep on this one and it is soooooo good. Reminded me of being on a tropical vacation during golden hour after soaking up the sun all day and having a fruity drink served in a tiki glass surrounded by palm trees. In this moment I would be perfectly content if a coconut fell from one of these aforementioned trees, conked me on the head, and killed me instantly. I constantly reached for this one in the spring and summer. Also an unbeatable price point when looking at fragrances I found kinda similar i.e. Bal d' afrique and Debaser, and i think w Ceremonia's you get the best of both for way less. Longevity is a big deal for me and in my experience, it lasted way longer on me than Bal D' Afrique did. UPDATE/EDIT: after having owned this perfume for a little over a year i revisted it now that the warmer months are coming along and i think this perfume has gone a bit sour? It doesn't smell like it did when i got it and there's a bit of a sickly undertone to it now. It's so unfortunate bc i don't think i'm going to finish it. i still love it and think it's worth the money, but just a fair warning to those that are interested in getting it.

This scent just ROX my world. So woody and unique, addicting and a bit sexy in a wildly free way. I agree with previous statements that this smells of clay. I detect something slightly aquatic about it too like the smell of a creek in a forest. Also kind of bright, fruity, and sweet though. Very complex and well rounded. I can reach for this when I want something green, something juicy, something earthy/almost soil like, or something unisex and fresh. So versatile! I can see this being either feminine or masculine depending on the wearer. I get some leathery nuances that make it really special and niche! I also think that elevates it to potentially be a night-time option rather than just a daytime freshie. Smells so organic on the skin. I like the Ariana grande scent “pink woods” that is in the same family as this, but I’d rather support a clean, ethical, Latinx company. Amazing longevity: sprayed at 9am and could still very much smell it in the shower at 7pm! Ps I finally realized what this reminds me of... a negroni lol. The botanicals of the gin + a sweet bitterness from campari + the sexy leather booth you’re sitting in at the bar 😘

Echoing thescented1's review below. What a gorgeous, earthy scent. I didn't buy it because I am trying to be more disciplined. I have a ridiculous amount of perfumes and I do not want to add more that do not knock my socks off. Well, this one did. Now I *also* have to go back to Sephora. Bonus points for being a Latino-owned brand. Perfume notes: This smelled like wet clay at first. It made me think of a clay pot being crafted by indigenous hands in a lush forest. I personally liked that, but also I am a weirdo and like weird fragrances. My 24-yr old cousin wasn't a fan. As the scent journey went on, the clay turned into something green and herbal. Two hours later, the fragrance is going strong- very strong. It has turned into something dusty and reminiscent of a very stubborn iris. I love it. It is stronger than all of the other, more expensive perfumes I sprayed on - Chanel included. It is intoxicating. Update: I bought a full size and it doesn't seem to last as long as the sample I tried. I still love it though.

What a beautiful smell. I am usually a gourmand girlie, but this scent holds such a special and profound place in my heart. I read that the owner of Ceremonia is Latino, so I wasn't surprised when I realized the scent reminded me of something familial. It reminds me of hair care products or lotions my aunts and uncles used to use growing up. It smells like childhood and nostalgia. It's such a beautiful smell. I wear this perfume when I feel happy or hopeful. It brings me back to a special place. It feels fresh, comforting, and bold. Overall, I would say it smells very herb-like, green, fresh, lush, clean, and woody. Like a spiced palo santo wood laying in wet, lush, green rainforest booming with life and fresh air. This is a scent I wear when I am ready to take on the day and be fearless, while also knowing I smell clean, fresh, and alluring.

I've spent a ridiculous amount of money lately on both niche and designer perfumes but it took a hair product brand to come up with something truly special. I visited our local newly revamped Mecca store (Australian rival to Sephora) and they started stocking Ceremonia. My daughter and mother both got captivated by the candle (Guava - CANDLE DE CEREMONIA) and I tried a little Perfume de la Tierra, thinking it was kinda on par with the Sol de Janeiro range. We left to have lunch and by the end of our coffee break, I had to go back to buy a bottle (and the candle). It's just the most mesemerising scent. I sprayed a little yesterday evening and I could still catch it on my skin the next morning. It's got good performance and for the price... Wow... Beats many, many of the big names! I just need them to make the candle into a frag!

Ok, hear me out... LEMON PLEGDE, but in the best way. my nose picked up a completely unmentioned note NOSTALGIA!!! it was joy inducing. I know this is not a prevalent or noted olfactory note, but I got celery and petrichor. it is, dream with me, an upper west side NYC Sunday morning meets macramé! it was a blind buy for me as I obsessed enough on the packaging the night before to purchase bright and early the next day. This is a scent for an inner bold flower child who want to walk barefoot in Central Park during lunch while holding their sensible pumps! Re-spray around noon after you enjoy that hummus with crudités with green tea and carve out a plan to the life you deserve!.

Initially get smokey vetiver in the lightest way possible. The basil is the last scent to be identified within the initial spray. There is a fruitiness that makes the smokey wood notes not heavy at all. Also uplifted by a hint of citrus. The price point is pretty amazing. I got a brand new bottle and finished it within 4 months due to how great this is for a unique everyday day time scent. The duration would be my only complaint, it lasts at best one hour for me. I found myself reapplying several times throughout the day, which is why the bottle didn't last me long. Although, worth it if that means I get to smell like this scent all day.

This is a truly unique fragrance, and is deeply transportive to a warm, humid forest. I get the guava, peach and even papaya followed by an incense note, moss and green leaves. I gave myself 3 sprays on a cool day but was immediately struck by how this is truly a hot weather performer. Can't wait to try it when it warms up in my locale. Extra points for a gorgeous bottle that I would love to display, but worry about the light-colored glass. I'm going to try it layered with a bright citrus this summer, too.

My rule for 2024 is to not buy a fragrance after testing it in the store one time. What a dumb rule because now I have to go back to Sephora tomorrow to pick up a bottle. Very unique, reminded me a bit of one of their hair products which smell amazing. A great value at just $69. It's the first fragrance in a long time I have fallen in love with in that price point. Good job Ceremonia and thanks to Sephora for finally carrying it in the store so I can test it (my other rule is no blind buys).

Bright, almost bitter guava, contrasted by a warm cigarette-y wooden undertone. The contrast is so strong that what you smell on yourself can seem very smokey, whereas others around you get all the tropical top notes. The bitterness is close the sharpness of Palermo by Byredo, but much more earthy and grounded. Very daytime, clean, sparkly, and very juicy. Someone who graduated up from Lush would love this as a more mature take on that kind of composition. I'm on my 4th bottle.

Not only was this a blind buy, but I also couldn’t even look up the notes because the Marshall’s didn’t have service at all! However, I really do enjoy how this perfume smells. To me it smells like dewdrops on tropical leaves, sunlit canopies, and fresh, fertile soil. The earth centric vision is very well executed in this perfume. Also, after wearing it a few hours it begins to smell a bit like Dirty Rice by BTSO, which is another perfume I really like.

If you’ve used their hair products, this smells exactly like that. I was using their hair products even though they weren’t my favorite for my hair, but I LOVED the scent, so when I was able I splurged on the perfume. I will say on my skin it pulls slightly sweeter than the way their products smell in my hair. Still a gorgeous, woody floral. This is one of my two summer scents. I would love love love for them put out some more fragrances!

Gorgeous, lush masterpiece. To me it smells like a basilic fruity clay-like scent.. hard for me to describe but so refreshing and surprisingly long-lasting. I can catch whiffs of it off my clothes after even 12 hours. I hope this brand makes more fragrances

Wow! I just found this lil gem at marshals. Blind bought of course.. I looked up the notes and that's what pulled me in. Its a beautiful light, fresh, woody peppery scent with light fruity Jasmin. Its easy to wear.

I thought this smelled like marzipan, almost clay-like smell? I get the slight hint of peach but it just comes across as nutty and delicious. Such a unique concoction. Surprisingly gourmand. I want to drink it haha

Opening reminds me of peanuts in Cra-yon Nuttopia and drydown smells like Bal d’Afrique. I’m trying to buy a full bottle but it’s sold out everywhere. Hopefully not discontinued.

Blind bought it based only on Fragrantica reviews, and I’m shocked at how gorgeous this perfume is! I don’t know how, but it reminds me a little of Tom Ford White Suede

This smells like I'm on Tierra la Bomba Island, pulling up to a beach-side resort being handed a fresh juice. It completely transports me to vacation mode. I love it!

I get a summer morning in a mediterranean kitchen. It's yellow and citrusy.

I've been using this for 2 months now. I am obsessed with this fragrance! If you like Ariana Grande Lovenotes Pink Woods or Rare Beauty Find Comfort, you will like this! This is a spicy, earthier version of that scent DNA (bergamont, jasmine, vetiver, tonka beans). On the initial spray, it smells like fresh moist jungle soil with a bit of spiciness from the ginger note. Once it settles, you get a lightly sweet and earthy floral scent with a hint of peach. This smells very airy yet grounding to me. I can see how the earthiness and woodiness can come across as smokey or bit like sweaty BO to some. I smell that initially from my perfume bottle but not from the sample I had. I would say this is a feminine fragrance that leans unisex. Perfect for everyday wear.

This is quite beautiful, I don’t have anything else like this in my collection. Very very earthy throughout, blast of citrus in the opening (but not piercing) and aromatic dry down. To my nose, this is very much the earthy facet of the vetiver & driftwood. I cannot pick up on the pink pepper, tonka bean nor the peach. I would say this is not a safe blind buy, especially if you like gourmands or fruity scents. Very much a gender neutral scent, but leaning more masculine (I will be sharing this bottle with my husband, he loved it). This is very grounding, I think it would be a great bedtime scent. Cannot wait to wear it in the summer.

This is very unique and nice. My husband said it’s woody and fruity, it reminds me of peach and black tea, I also think of the smell of guavas on a rainy day. The vetiver definitely gives it that earthiness. I don’t have anything like this. I guess it kinda reminds me a bit of Bal D’Afrique by Byredo but this is better, 2 sprays and I can smell it all day long! This was an impromptu blind buy for me. The Ceremonia brand, reviews here and comparisons to Bal d’Afrique together with a nice discount made me do it. I love and own Bal d’Afrique and the comparisons to it are totally rewarded but Perfume de la Tierra has something earthy in the background especially for the first 30 minutes or so. Some might not like that part. Maybe it’s the driftwood note or the vetiver, I’m not sure. But all in all a lovely fresh scent that’s more than reasonably priced. The longevity is ok or at least better than BdA has.

fresh summery tropical scent that smells like you just took a good shower. great for summer and romping around outside. i'd say it wears well into the night because it's a bit playful. i love that it's just a touch woody and spicy - it's girly but not tooooooooo much. however - this perfume is a tad bit strong and i often find myself wishing i'd put on a bit less.

I'm so glad I didn't blind buy this. Although it's a very nice scent and yes, along the lines of Bal d'afrique there's something about it that just doesn't seem complete to me. I genuinely think it's the blending in here that seems a bit unfinished (how I came to that conclusion, I have no clue lol). Still worth checking out in my opinion. 6.5/10

This is very gourmand on me, surprisingly. In fact if Prada Candy and Prada Infusion D’Iris had a baby, this could be it. It only leans earthy in the dry down when I get the mossy vibe, I wish it were more woody and mossy in the top notes as it would be more interesting.

Whew, this is....something. The initial spray is fun and vibrant, like a strong tropical musk. But after about an hour, it's just a cacophony of accords. I got something salty, citrusy, green, fruity, caramel, and a little pungent. Trust me, I REALLY wanted to like this, but my nose was so confused.

wanted to like it more than i did. reminds me of the lemon scented lysol wood cleaner. the citrus (bergamot) is really sharp on opening and it does dry down to a smooth fruity scent (peach) but still smells artificial. too sweet for my preference

I was recently given a gift card to Sephora and I knew I wanted to spend it on a fragrance. I knew I wanted something more green and fresh with a touch of woods musk but nothing sweet.i dislike heavy, sweet fragrances. I found Ceremonia de la terra and it sounded like it might be the one. Before I took the plunge I came to this site for reviews and it really was a great help. It arrived today and I am over the moon with this fragrance. To my nose it opens green with woods but very fresh. The perfect hint of Jasmine with the touch of ginger and then the base notes just bring it to its fullness. I have been wearing it for about two hours and it has only gotten better. I had a friend stop by sbdbthevfirstbthingbshevsaidcwas oh my. How good you smell. What are you wearing. That is the reaction to a fragrance I have been looking for. I have spent quite a bit of money in 2023 searching for “my’. fragrance. I think I’ve found it. This really could be a unisex fragrance. I am not an expert at reviewing fragrances as some people here are, and perfumes react differently on all people. I just know what appeals to me. I can’t stop smelling this m fragrance. It is divine. The price is amazing for 1.7 ounces in these days of very expensive fragrances that disappear. I highly recommend this fragrance

This perfume is very impressive to me! It’s only $60 but lasts and takes you on a whole scent journey. The opening is bright and a little sour (in a pleasant way). It reminds me of tart citrus. When I first sprayed it, I picked up on a paper note. It almost smelled like a perfume strip from a magazine. That smell dissipated within the first five minutes though. After ten minutes it blossoms and becomes slighter sweeter. Despite my general association of bright scents with warm weather, I can see myself reaching for this year round. I actually agree with the reviewer who compared this to Bal D’ Afrique! IT IS NOT A DUPE! But it is citrusy, sweet, and earthy in a similar way. It’s like the girls who wear these fragrances could be friends who met on an adventure abroad. I’m really happy to have this fragrance in my collection!

To me it's quite unique; never have seemed anything like it before. It's powdery/woody with something in there to keep fresh. Before it goes away, that fresh note can keep me stuck inhaling it lol--you know how there are certain smells you just don't want to stop smelling, you practically just want to breathe that scent? Laundry detergent smells usually catch me like that; I don't quite want to say, though, that it's an aldehyde note in there, buoying everything up. But it IS fresh and refreshing. The powder note is also not like a baby powder note--more like an orris note, I would say. Vetiver is prominent but balanced out by the other notes. Wearing it right now in the midst of the humid summer, which it's a bit too big for. Really interested in how it'll play out in drier, cooler air!

This is my first review, despite being an ardent stalker and hyperenthusiastic purchaser of scents, because this is just so very good I felt like more people needed to know. It's fall here in New England, and this smells like a brisk walk on a sunny day. It's woody, but sweet. It's wears close to the skin but lasts and projects, gently. It opens with slightly sour bergamot but quickly settles to something warm and lovely and very slightly fruity. The citrus will for sure make this easily wearable year round, and the woodiness isn't wintery. I blind bought this, which is almost always a fail for me, but this is great, and well worth the 65 dollars. When it's gone (which I suspect it will be sooner rather than later, since I keep spraying myself), I'll absolutely buy more.

This was an odd experience. It went on cedar and pretty floral, cedar in the form that reminds me of peanut butter, but screamwood came in and ramped up, making this piercing and unbearable, so I scrubbed it off. THEN, at the end of teh day, after I scrubbed it, it was a lovely citrus floral with some sweet fruit and a leathery green galbanum base. I've never had that happen with a scent employing a Spiky Wood/Superamber (screamwood). This was just gorgeous after I scrubbed it off and it died down. I guess the people who can't smell the screamwood get the loveliness from the start. Lucky them!

If you're familiar with their haircare line, specifically the Aceite de Moska (hair oil), this is basically the same scent in perfume form. It is spicy, sweet, and summery. I impulse purchased this because I really wanted a mood-boosting and slightly non-traditional citrus scent. However, I think the peach note is super prominent and dilutes the overall feel to end up a bit less sophisticated than what I'd want. For a little under $70 it is good value I will say, as it has decent lasting power and frankly ... fragrances cost too damn much nowadays.

This was a blind buy recomended by influencer in youtube, it opens sweet I could feel the peach and fruity notes. Is a little earthy and powdery on the dry down (after about 15 mins). There’s a moment during those 15 that I said “this is a BBW spray” but I got surprised with the turnout to powdery and earthy. With a few more sprays (6+) it can last longer than 4 hrs. I just tried it on my wrist and I got a nice projection from it. Shout out to Ceremonia!

OMG!! This smelled of something I recognised but couldn’t quite figure it out, I kept sniffing my arm for ages trying to pin point the smell, until.. BINGO! Chanel #5 As weird as it sounds, this smells like Chanel on the drydown, it also reminds me of Prada infusion d iris which I also think it smells similar to Chanel

On my skin, this opens up a little spicy and I get the vetiver and sweetness. Drydown after a few minutes is sweet on my skin, I’m pretty surprised! I was expecting an aromatic-leaning fragrance but this is like a fruity aromatic? Haha it’s pretty though! Will post an update if I have additional thoughts on it.

It definetly has bal d’Afrique vibe but it’s not a dupe. I think this is more earthy and strong and I don’t like it as much as the byredo one. It’s completely unisex and gives that luxury spa feeling. Not just as bright as bal d’Afrique. For the price though it a keeper!
