1881 Edition Blanche Pour Homme

I'll keep this simple; this reminds me of Jean Paul Gaultier Fleur, it's no coincidence both bottles are white and have floral notes! It's not exactly the same, but has the same vibe, it is aromatic, clean, and floral, I do get the rosemary and lavender notes from start to finish. If you are a man that does not like florals, one not for you. I would also say, it's Mugler Pure Shot/Energy, with floral notes! That bottle is white too. Fragrances are subjective, for me it’s 8.5 out of 10.

First off, this stuff is quite powerful and the sprayer puts out a lot of juice. Start with three sprays and adjust as needed. To me, the defining element of this, at least through the mid-point, is a citrus peel element. I have never had any type of citrus this long lasting. This achieves that longevity by using aromachemicals, which unfortunately also present a certain scratchy-ness that grates on the nose after a few hours. I actually enjoy the strong lavender, the hint of mint, some nutmeg, but the floral accord is a bit unfocused and the rosemary is tinged with cumin that gives this a bit of a B.O. vibe for the first few hours. I love 1881 and 1881 Signature, but this one is a pass for me. Also, this is not a fougere, so if you want that, try the OG 1881 instead. If you want to try a really powerful citrus rind scent, this is worth a shot.

This stuff is nice. Smells like upgraded modern version of 1881, reminds me also of Denim Original but with modern twist- it's mild and has a bit of sweetness over the bitter base.

Cerutti's Edition Blanche opens with a fresh bouquet of flowers. You can clearly get the rosemary lavender combo here. It then settles down with woodsy notes and becomes really soapy. Personally this is a no no for me as it reminds me of laundry detergent. If you like lavender and rosemary and have no aversion against soapy scents this will be a winner for you. You might criticize it as lacking character tough.

Whereas the original 1881 was Cerruti's take on on the original Eau Sauvage, Blanche is practically a take on Eau Sauvage Extreme. I sold my Extreme not long ago as I grew tired of the overwhelming rosemary accord, it became too cloying after awhile. This one heads in the same direction. Considering Extreme is discontinued now, Blanche would be a great alternative.
