Cerruti 1881 Silver Night

The perfumer who composed Aventus, Jean-Christophe Hérault, has come up with a fragrance that sits somewhere in between Aventus and Terre d'Hermes for under $50. I get aromatic, green, citrus, sweet and floral, vetiver and woody notes. The Terre similarities come from the citrus, vetiver and iso-e super (woody) side and the top forms a sweet pineapple accord a lot like Aventus. I agree with the Roja Apex comparison from NickZee, there's a lot of overlap and it's probably the closest overall to Silver Nights. My only criticism is it uses a lot of iso-e super... so does Apex PC and Terre though. I'm not a fan of huge doses of iso-e, ymmv. This is great overall and one of the best values ever.

A solid Loewe 7 Colbalt / Aventus alternative. Not a direct clone, but going in both directions, it’s a lovely aromatic, slightly smoky and citrusy scent. The rosemary adds a nice vibrant, effervescent pop to the scent. Got a nice metallic/clean edge, not as developed as in Cerruti 1881 Silver, it overall smells like a more "mature" version of it too. 3.70/5 feels a bit low as an overall rating imo, it’s a very nice option if you consider an allround, versatile, woody citrusy scent.

perfect for New Orleans summer night. One spray. This smell like lighter sweeter Polo Intense edp. Herbaceous fruity - like sharp green supposed to be there but its smoothed out round the edges. This is Good!

In the Roja Apex space while introducing some white floral balance to the woods. Quite nice and will represent excellent value if its price falls into line with other flankers.

For the price range this sits in it's pretty great! Mature and very traditionally masculine but this will appeal to those that like their modern blue fragrances too. Sharp invigorating citrus/pepper opening, vaguely similar in style to other modern Aventus-esque designers but this is more on the bitter spicy side than light or refreshing. Totally addictive nonetheless and much higher quality than you'd expect. Then it quickly goes a bit more old school woody aromatic. The rosemary adds an interesting subtle savoury aspect without going in the more aquatic aromatic direction you sometimes get with the note. The woody base is soft and neutral rather than a more bold modern molecule style woodiness, granted probably a big dose of ISO E Super but it comes across smooth and natural with a bright but subtle vetiver that continues through the citric sharpness of the opening. Apparently a CO2 oak extract is used in this so I imagine this contributes to how naturally woody this smells. Great longevity on me which isn't important but a nice bonus. Also for what it's worth this is pretty far removed from the original 1881 for Men from start to finish!

Cerruti 1881 Silver Night is an underrated woody-aromatic fragrance that blends bright yuzu, rosemary, and smoky oak into a smooth, masculine scent. Fresh enough for daytime yet refined enough for evenings, it offers impressive versatility and value without smelling generic. In the same vein as Creed Aventus but does it'w own thing.

Spicy and slighty smoky with a clean finish. Opens spicy, possibly cinnamon? Then a note of aniseed and something fairly woody. Has a slightly smoky musk, remains woody. Does have an "Aventus-style" chypre note, possibly from oak? It warms, but remains forest like. Has leathery notes too. Becomes a little peppery and is still a little smoky. Maybe some coffee as well? Eventually the woods and musk give way to orange blossom, and as a skin scent it smells very clean, like a detergent. (The overall fragrance didn't give me silver vibes.) It's a masculine scent aimed at guys 25-50 (ish.) Would work well in the autumn, but fine most of the year. As the name suggests it might work better at night, but wouldn't be out of place in the daytime. Performance is average; It's not loud and lasts as a skin scent for about 8hrs. Does have times when it resembles Aventus but is not a close comparison IMO, and there're better clones of Aventus out there.

Very much in the classical chypre style with it's use of woods and herbal aromatics. Opens with a peppery, sweet yuzu blast over leathery woods which is undeniably exciting. One of the best top notes I've ever smelled, almost pineapply, before settling to a more retro vibe from the woody & aromatic elements. The oak wood extract provides a solid base without ever smelling synthetic or overdone. Drydown is very much in the vein of releases that reference a more vintage style ala Roja Apex. Whilst not as strong this is better tempered, sweeter and will appeal to the same sort of audience. Not entirely my style but the opening has to be smelled to be believed. Conclusion - a modern callback to 70s fragrances with impeccable blending. Most similar within Herault's works to Paradise Found (more fougere) with Silver Night being noticeably woodier. Not my thing but boy I would love to smell this top note in a different composition.

It is Cerruti’s take on Creed Aventus. Very redundant if you have any Aventus clone or Aventus style fragrance in your collection such as Montblanc explorer or Zara vibrant leather. I got it at 27 USD at discounters and kind of regret purchase. Nothing new. But as a stand alone, it is beautiful fragrance for the price. Opens with the familiar lemony pineapple and goes woody very quickly. Average performance.

It’s squarely in the Aventus lane, and there’s really no debate there. That said, it’s less complex, quite a bit smoother overall and less sharp around the edges. Performance seems average at best. That all adds up to a fragrance that is overall quite nice, but at the same time, not really a must-have for anyone.

That's curious that it smells like Aventus even for some guys that don't have Aventus on their list. It must be a disease, because the same simptoms happens in different perfume reviews, i would call it something like Aventosis...

I like the opening during 2 minutes but then it becomes harsh and metallic. Clary sage? Not even listed! I see the similarities with Aventus. But Tabac Wild Ride is even closer. Strong projection.

Looking at the notes, it doesn’t look too exciting. We’ll see.
