Ambre Du Reve

Wow, I definitely did not expect a perfume with the word "amber" in its name to be so unusual, young and elegant. Like- it`s completely opposite of most amber perfumes that go very heavy on raw amber smells. This one is really nice, nostalgic but not old-fashioned, warm like a candle light, relaxing and flowing, vanilla butter and carrot/borderline iris root, a pinch of smooth sweet spices, nothing is in your face, everything is flowing smoothly. Amber here is far from being dominant. Not quite gourmand and not quite spicy, it`s like warm wax with a very well-layered attractive scent. It`s feminine, but not in a granny way. It`s addictive, relaxing, Oriental, but not in a harsh Middle Eastern spice way (which I`m also a fan of), it`s just laid back and mesmerizing. Smells like an expensive SPA/aromatherapy salon, in a good way. And I can`t remember what it reminds me of, but it was around the 2000s that a similar note was around....but where..... I agree with the previous comment, it makes you keep smelling your skin :)

I've bought the complete sample set from the brand and so far (excepting the gourmand EdT) it's my favorite. This Fragrance is amazing, it want to smell it forever. It's so round, warm and comfy with a touch of sexyness, i adore it. When i tried it, i smelled my elbow every 2 minutes. I don't know about the performance, i try it at 8pm and went to bed around midnight and it was going strong but didn't pass the night on my skin. EDIT : finally bought it with a discount. Still too expensive but really needed it. However, i think you can find similar fragrance for a cheaper price. Maybe Sexy Amber from Michael Kors can do the job (less amazingly of course) if I remember correctly. And that's why I don't think i'll buy any bottle, it is for my taste and my wallet very overpriced.

I'm on the fence about this one! (Between "like" and "OK.") Had to try it on my skin two days in a row to figure it out. But I think I've finally come down on the side of liking it, but not loving it. It has an immediately sweet, gourmand opening, with this really spiced undertone. Yum. But then ... wait ... there's also this ... funk. I think someone below talked about it being almost like orris root, which my nose has never seemed to enjoy. I don't know if it's the carrot or the patchouli, but this fragrance on my skin has one note/accord running through it that makes it smell ... off. Like a carrot muffin that might be hiding a patch of mold on the bottom, yknow? Anyway, after many, many hours, this funkiness slowly faded away, which duped me into thinking I may have been exaggerating how strong it was. So I tried it for a second time, on another day, and nope, the funk is too much and takes too long to subside. Ha, so maybe this is now an "OK." Still a fun ride, though!

FIRST IMPRESSION: i get a semi-sweet scent, not particularly in an edible way. my first reaction from arms length was how it’s something i’ve smelled before numerous times before. from up close it has a VERY irritating artificial facet, very play-doh, fake soil, it’s sticky and very dominant over the rest of the scent. reminds me of the last time i encountered such nauseating facet, like in “givenchey PI” unfortunately such notes tend to last and last and remain present at each breath, refusing to get nose blinded to. overall for a first impression it’s really not my thing. SEVERAL HOURS LATER... The annoying part just barely subsided. the scent overall became much more balanced, but not exactly revealed anything new, just gave some room to the rest of the notes. the main notes i get are benzoin which i really dislike, something earthy like root orris, something honey-like, akin to flowers nectar. the amber gives a bit of vanillic sweetness, but it’s relatively quiet. 28/100
