Cedre Noble

I tried Chabaud "Cedre Noble" for the first time today, and I already like it. Before I sprayed it for the first time, I smelled the atomizer, and it smelled very similar to Lalique "L'Insoumis". Then, I sprayed it, and I noticed that it seems to contain a lot of real cedar. Also, after initially spraying it out, I noticed it isn't as similar to "L'Insoumis" as it is from the atomizer, but it's still somewhat similar to "L'Insoumis". The cedar aspect of "Cedre Noble" is somewhat in the same realm as the cedar aspect of Guerlain "Bois Mysterieux", only the cedar aspect of both fragrances don't seem to me to be exactly the same as each other, and "Cedre Noble" is much more similar to Lalique "L'Insoumis" than it is to Guerlain "Bois Mysterieux". I think of "Cedre Noble" as something like a real cedar version of Lalique "L'Insoumis". "Cedre Noble" and "L'Insoumis" have similarities to each other, but they are definitely not the same fragrance as each other. In fact, it would not be redundant to own both of them. "Cedre Noble" also has coniferous, peppery, and smoky aspects to it, in addition to its cedar aspect, and in addition to its similarities with "L'Insoumis". I like "Cedre Noble" (I even gave it a "love" vote for now). "Cedre Noble" seems to have at least pretty good performance. I sprayed just one spray, on my neck, about five hours ago, and it seems to still have a good presence. I recently bought a 3.3oz tester bottle of it in the mid $50 range, and it is a relatively good price for it. I bought it without having tried it first, and I think it's a good addition to my collection. I had been interested in trying "Cedre Noble" for over a year and a half now, and I finally got to see what it's like. Also, I remember, a while ago, I watched a review someone gave of "Cedre Noble". I appreciate that reviewer, but I disagree with him when he said that "Cedre Noble" is similar to "Bentley for Men Absolute". I think of "Cedre Noble" as a real cedar, smoky, coniferous version of Lalique "L'Insoumis". I recommend Chabaud "Cedre Noble", especially if you like Lalique "L'Insoumis", and you want a real cedar, smoky, coniferous version of it.

First spray was a shock! Felt like an ashtray that has not been emptied for ages. Gave it 10 minutes to settle and this evolved to a most elegant male deep green scent. A signature scent.

Great cedare wood-smoke-herbal scent. Very different for this house

A dry-as-dust antidote to sickly florals and hyper-sweet incense; like being on a sledge, plunging deep into a wintry forest with row upon row of equidistant trees, chanting "Conifer, conifer, conifer" as the cold smoky air wafts around you. I'm guessing that's the Cypriol ... and plenty of it. Invigorating and strangely comforting, with a kind of post-sauna zing.

As a gardener and an owner of a conifer tree collection I really appreciate a skillfully made botanical scent. There are notes here that imitate a couple of conifer species (such as Chamaecyparis), which was probably done with the help of the cardamom note. Overall the scent is botanical, woody, fresh, slightly smoky, masculine. The cardamom is prominent.

The opening is difficult, a mentholated dirty ashtray scent. Within 20 minutes it transitions into a spicy green wood scent. Smoke is still present but it’s pushed back in the composition where it should be. Cedar and a very fresh pine are dominant in the dry down. I like Cedre Noble but I think I would prefer this on a man.

FIRST IMPRESSION: oh this is a realistic wood. i can really see the cedar tree so clearly. its very harsh tho. its a very masculine take on cedar, it has black pepper smokiness, and a certain damp moss note. it is somewhere between cedar and eucalyptus tree. i imagine myslef sitting on top of a huge fallen tree trunk in the middle of a grove, dense thicket all around, and the damp smell of evening is in the air. there's also a sharp chemically garden-fertilizer in it. damp soil and eucalyptus, not in a wearable way. FEW HOURS LATER... still a cedar, not much of a fertilizer or soil now, still detect that black pepper / nutmeg spiciness which i do not enjoy. drydown really reminds me of hinoki by CDG now. i cant imagine it on myself, i do find the drydown comforting, but it is not for me personally. i appreciate the realism. 40/100

There is something hypnotic about this, despite how strong it is. I'm a huge fan of smoky, woody fragrances, but I couldn't imagine wearing this, personally. But I could see myself being very drawn to someone wearing this.

Usual cedar thing, a bit peppery/dusty. Nothing to loose sleep about.

The dry down is very screechy and soapy 😅

I don't smell most of the notes that are listed. Certainly the cedar and pepper. On me it smells kinda like bandaids and old paper. Not for me. Have several woody scents I like so it isn't that I don't like that. I just don't feel I'd ever want to wear a scent that opens the way this one does.

Obnoxiously strong but fairly accurate cedar smell, but it smells way too woody for me to use it as a fragrance.

Smells like smoking a menthol cigarette in a forest. Weirdly minty.

Cedre Noble smells like sitting by a bonfire in a pine forest. It has that bonfire-smokiness to it and the pine/woody notes are strong. It has great projection and longevity. I wouldn't wanna smell like this though.

This is love at first sniff. Nice cedar. I can also smell the cypress. It reminds me of Creed Royal Oud, Acqua di Parma Cedro di Taormina and to a certain extend Acqua di Parma Cipresso di Toscana. Very nice smell indeed. It is smoky. 2024 march revisit: I smell the fresh pine needles along with the smokyness. Reminds me of my childhood for some reason. Medicinal, smells like a pharmacy store!

A smoky dry and dark cedar. IT took me a long time to at least try and wear cedre noble. It really is only smoky woody and aromatic with many shadows and dark nuances. I smell cedar and incense mostly, no lavander. There's no flowers no sweetness no citrus. It's challenging for me to wear this.

Smoky, green cardamom note (like the fresh, unsalted spice). Smells like rocks after some rain
