Vintage

It is nostalgic, but not sure where I recognize these notes from. I think one of the bath products companies used to have sort of similar smell in many of their products in the early 2000s. I sometimes find almond repulsive (like Rolling in love by Killian) but here it only plays along with other notes without dominating. It is tuberose, powder, caramel and jasmine with a bit of honey. Really pleasant and mysterious.

The ylang-ylang is present in the opening, in the drydown I’m getting carnation, honey and caramel. Tuberose and jasmine replace ylang-ylang, and it all morphs together. Chabaud Vintage is sweet and warm, nutty with a bit of vintage spice from the carnation.

If I had to sum up Vintage in one word, it would be "complex". There's so much going on all the time, which I did not expect from the comparatively limited number of notes listed. Vintage opens as a floriental who's gone for a little dip in aldehydes (even though aldehyde is not listed). The word that pops into my mind is "fiery", but not exactly because it is a burning fragrance, but because if it were a person, it would be the kind who would look at you with piercing eyes that never quite leave you alone. Carnation is strong and kind of spicy here, letting you know she's a lady with grit and determination. (Side note: it's less intense if you apply less of it, but I'm sure you already figured that out) As it settles in a couple of minutes, a creamy, almost vanilla-like deep floral takes over. It's a jumble of florals that I can't tell apart, but there's definitely a zesty ylang-ylang backing this. Almost 2 hours later, jasmine is the predominant note. At this stage, it's just so creamy with a lightly honeyed nut note. Almost yummy, but not quite gourmand. Florals are still there, still feminine, but she's balanced out some of that grit with a delicate touch. This lasted around 12 hours on me, which is quite a feat! Towards the end though, Vintage exchanged a bit of that creaminess for something airy and sweeter. Imagine burning caramel on a stove, then letting it cool into a flat sheet, and dipping that into honey and allowing the aroma to waft across the room so that you only just pick up a hint of it. That's pretty much what the drydown is like. Projection was good for the most part. I'd say this is worth a try if only to see how you would perceive it. It's one of those that grow on you the more you wear it.

This one is a bit of a wild ride. It opens very citrusy-floral, but dries down into this tangle of white floral sweetness. I can't really put my finger on what is going on, but I actually do enjoy it. Could never imagine wearing it or buying it, but it does spark some kind of nostalgia for me, though I can't place what it's for. And now I'm officially done with my Chabaud kit! In the running for full bottles are... Lait et Chocolat, Fleur de Figuier, La Nuit Danse, Innocent Fragilité, and Caprice de Sophie. We shall see.

FIRST IMPRESSION actually an old fashioned scent, true to its name. it smells like back when playing hide and seek as a kid in grandparents house and hiding in the dresses closet behind all the hanged dresses still smelling of grandma's perfumes. it is warm and gold-like, a little make-up powdery but not in a choking way. smells floral, but not fresh, tuberose comes to mind. i perceive it as more on the feminine side. the type of people who use it in my perception, would usually douse themselves very liberally with it. personally i dont hate it, but it is not something i would put on myself at all. it smells formal in a way, like an aunt on a holiday/wedding. overall it is a very aunt-y scent. FEW HOURS LATER... so overall it is an inoffensive scent which for me personally registers as an aunt scent - just from past experience, it wouldnt make sense for me to wear such fragrance, and im not actually enjoying it anyways, it is well made for what it is i can appreciate that. im getting the scent of powdery make up , fake gold , and white&purple florals. from closeup it is a little dusty. 39/100

Opening is potent! I agree with jbells and Q80 - it's quite chaotic / complex. I can detect mandarine orange surrounded with flowers. It quickly settles into vintage smelling jasmine, as I'm not a fan of jasmine...this scent is quite unbearable. Dry down is the only pleasant aspect - almond-caramel mix, keeping close to the skin.

I actually find the opening of Vintage to be quite captivating: an overripe, caterwauling punk rock ylang-ylang dripping with a honey and huffy-puffy jasmine shredding the nose. I love it, it smells so badass. Go figure, the "smell like a snack" army finds this the least appealing aspect. This does settle into something far more palatable and edible-smelling to them and rather passionless and anemic to me. What could've entered new frontier gets taken to caramel-almond-cookie land and becomes, for crying out loud, "yummy." "NO-y."

i can't believe how this is less popular than other chabaud perfumes. this is a very vibrant fragrance. it has a heavy dose of ylang ylang and caramel in a mix of soapy white florals. almond note in the background is very soft and sensual. it's the perfect balance between floral and gourmand. the sweetness might be cloying if the weather is too hot and can come across a bit plasticky to some, but overall it definitely works as a signature scent.

As the top note the juice go quite chaos, rancidity of the jasmines, the ylang ylang mix, and the honey makes quite a heavy mixed up blend with the help of the bitter almonds. As it calms down it settles quite well as the caramel rise up hiding the jasmine rancidity and covering the sour bitter juice with almonds and honey. Not that loud but quite balanced with a good silage and longevity. i can sense the softness stamp of Chabaud in this one.

So this is sweetened baby wipes, to a T. To me at least, and it's so uncanny that I'm quite sure that the brand my parents used on my baby brother+ the matching lotion specifically smelled like this, hence why it made me think of it instantly. Not many other people seem to catch on that tho so do with that what you will. They were very nice smelling for some baby wipes i precise.

I love it it is sweet , really powdery,dry sweet but very yummy and nice and elegant vanilla, honey, powder,caramel, jasmin I don't get orange or mandarin...
