Beige Eau de Parfum

There are perfumes that try to replicate a certain scent. They might smell like oranges and lemons, like coffee and sweet tartlets, they might smell like a bouquet of flowers or like rain on the pavement. Then there are perfumes that try to recreate certain images and ideas - the Replica line comes to mind here, for instance. And then there are perfumes that are so inherently 'perfumy', they are hard to describe in any other way than just "this is a perfume". Beige definitely is in that latter category. It is very much a perfume first and foremost. Individually, Beige is floral and slightly sweet. It's makeupy and creamy. It's powdery and a bit soapy. The yellow and white florals get accentuated by the sweet honey note that tones them down and makes them very elegant - and I say that as someone who frequently struggles with florals. It's elegant in all the best ways. And it remains that way for quite a long time. While Beige doesn't really develop in major ways, the honey and florals do play with each other nicely and on my skin. Sometimes the honey was more present, sometimes the florals made their way in front. But all the time, the elegant, creamy baseline remained on me. It felt sophisticated all throughout. Spraying it on my partner, however, was less pleasant. On her skin, the honey was far more dominant throughout and that made the perfume much less elegant and sophisticated. While the honey didn't quite go as far as, for instance, Guerlains Tobacco Honey goes, it was still a very dominant note in the whole experience and took away from the elegance that the perfume otherwise had, which was disappointing to notice. Overall though, assuming the honey keeps itself in check a little more, Beige is a perfume that I would love to smell on someone in more upscale social situations. It's not necessarily for me - I don't think floral perfumes suit me very well - but I can absolutely see myself enjoying the smell tremendously on someone else. It leans femme, but I can see men rocking it just as well. Ironically, I immediately associate it with a bright suit. Probably because of the name, to be fair. It lasted for around 6 hours on my skin and was enjoyable throughout. Clean, elegant, enjoyable, floral, slightly sweet, sophisticated, creamy, makeupy. I like it far more than I ever liked any "perfumy"-perfume before. Strong recommendation, even if I definitely recommend sampling it, due to my experience with my partner's skin.

I'm very surprised by how much I really like this honey sweet floral. Surprised because with a name like that who'd have thought this would be a shimmery golden little number. I love all the notes listed, even my nemesis freesia, as it adds a sparkling, sunniness to this composition. I also love how the buttery tiara and sweet and spicy hawthorn pair so well with the honey, creating this creamy, lightly tropical scent, that doesn't bring to mind any other tropical scent on the market or in my wardrobe. That makes it special and unique. While it does have soft, close to the skin silage, I was very aware of it as I kept receiving gentle wafts every time I moved. And lasting all day is another thing I like because it has great longevity on me. Though I think this can be worn all year long, as of now I find It works beautifully in the heat, surrounding me with a golden aura. Maybe Chanel should have named this after another color and called it Gold, because that's what it conjures up - Liquid Gold! Maybe too, that's what some here mean when they say this smells like money? It definitely smells classy and put together, that's for sure. I love @RyShandon's recommendation to layer it with Chanel No. 5 or Eau Premiere, and I think it will work great with Tiki Monoi oil too. I can't wait to receive the bottle I ordered so I can try all that and spray away with wild abandon. Oops, put this under the wrong listing. I have the Les Exclusifs version.

Chanel is my favourite designer house, and I love their exclusive line. At the moment I only own Coromandel EDP, but I plan to invest in a few other scents from this collection, as they’re all very classy, wearable and long lasting. Chanel Beige is somewhat misnamed, because the fragrance is very luminous and not at all boring-neutral-matte! This is what I wished Gabrielle would smell like. I tested Beige without checking the list of notes. My first impression was: ‘Mmm, frangipani and honey with some aldehydes!’ Then I checked the notes, and yes, frangipani and honey are definitely there; the official list also identifies freesia and hawthorn, but they’re not so obvious, unless you know exactly what you’re looking for. I swear to god I can also smell those typical Chanel aldehydes and grapefruit in this composition, although they’re not listed. Beige is very strong and tenacious. To be honest, it’s not unisex: to me it’s a very feminine floral, with both capital Fs.

I avoided this perfume for years because of the name. Beige? How BORING I thought. I'm kicking myself. This is an interesting one. When I tested on my wrist I couldn't stop sniffing. Creamy, sweet, floral. It smells like class, well blended, gentle, not a hard edge in teh whole thing. Today, with a proper wear I find it incredibly SOFT. I cannot put my nose up against my neck or chest where it is applied and so instead of those intense creamy whiffs I'm instead finding myself walking around thinking I'm not smelling anything, but also thinking the world just smells divine today. It's hard to describe but it doesn't smell like I'm wearing perfume. It just smells like life is a little sweet, a hint of floral like a spring breeze, and this creaminess in the back of my throat that's almost subliminal. I'm wearing just three sprays and it is very chilly today so that may cause some of the softness? Still, utterly lovely but a very discreet fragrance.

Beige is the floral of simplicity. Here a little is not only enough, but it is also perfect. It starts strong with fragrant hawthorn flower and a bit of musk to soften, a vibrant start but never crowding our feelings, this floral that is not excessive gives us, at last, beauty without killing it. The heart of the fragrance is crowned with a prodigious frangipani, which is interspersed with hawthorn flower and those hints of beeswax and honey. It is a joyful and sophisticated fullness due to its naturalness and ingenuity, so beautiful that this perfume has. It smells of happy, dynamic days, days that are not heavy, for moments when it is not difficult for us to do daily things, because Beige brings positivity and a will to live. A floral anti-stress, which increases spiritual beauty and expels good vibrations. It is currently one of my favorites, obviously I succumbed to beauty, the beauty that is not touched or seen... the beauty that is felt.

A little Beige goes a long way! The opening is intense and high-pitched, and there's a slightly pissy note that might immediately turn off some wearers. I recommend sticking with it for a few more minutes, because it settles into a creamy and sophisticated tropical floral that brings to mind deep comfort and relaxation. As other commenters have mentioned, Beige is more approachable than the other perfumes in the Les Exclusifs line, but it's not quite as basic as many of the Chanel bestsellers. I generally dislike soapy scents and have a hard time with sweetness, but I was charmed enough to buy a full bottle and wear it regularly. Despite its sunny demeanor, Beige has become one of my favorites fragrances to put on after a bath before bed. The one downside is that my cat hates it and refuses to snuggle with me after I put it on. (She strongly prefers ocean fish scents to abstract florals. To each their own I suppose.)

I adore Chanel. Just adore. And this is the most adorable scent in their line up. Beige is one of the cornerstone colors for the fashion house, but this scent is never, ever beige to my nose. It’s bright yellow, sunshine, warmth on your face, golden light. All yellow to me. Perhaps a scent called Yellow would not have been as chic. The first time I smelled this I was reminded of Johnson and Johnson’s baby shampoo - the golden colored liquid in the clear plastic bottle. (Not the pink bottle, that’s No 5 of course.). Beige is more sophisticated than baby shampoo, but the clean golden scent is similar. I wear it in the mornings when I want to feel uplifted and happy, sweet and kind. It’s truly lovely. I often do yoga in the mornings wearing this (not in a studio of course, that’d be rude), and it is just cheerful and joyous. Sunshine in a bottle. My first love of the Les Exclusifs line.

I love how this opens. Soft white floral, a dash of indoles, creamy and powdery at the same time. I get a hint of lime but it's not in the notes. It smells quite classic and beautiful. For me, it dries down to a frangipani soap skin scent, which is lovely but not nearly as exciting as that first hour or two. However, on the whole, it's quite magical and I can't stop sniffing myself. I think if I had a FB, a lot of my samples would get quite dusty. Strangely, the name kept me from trying it for a while even though the notes are some of my favorite. I live my life in color and don't wear much beige. But I guess Chanel's not going to have a scent called Hawaiian Explosion! Haven't seen much mention of these two together, but Clinique Lily of the Beach smells like an exuberant little sister to the refined and elegant Beige, and they are both quite good.

I took a risk and blind bought this! No regrets. Initially it is very similar to no5 eau premiere with a heavier dose of floral (frangipani). It's a bit strong at start which concerned me. It took about 30 minutes or so and the aldehydes are all but gone it becomes softer, creamier and the lightest powdery touch. Now it's more like I applied a softly fragranced tropical floral lotion. It smells of frangipani, a fluffy honey and just a touch of aldehydes to keep freshness. You have wafts of scent coming off you, a airy beautiful trail...not in your face perfume. It's a clean, summery, sophisticated but casual vibe. I see why some have referenced Johnsons baby shampoo for sure & if you like that scent you will likely adore this. But, it's NOT a dupe, this is so much more refined than that.

My tiny sample of Beige only allowed for one day's wear, so I haven't really formed a clear picture of it yet, let alone a definitive opinion, and this isn't a "full" review. But what I can say after that one day is that I'm intrigued by this perfume, and I definitely want to get to know it better this coming spring. It's such a happy, sunkissed scent: honeyed florals, but very light, very subtle, and only slightly sweet. It really puts a smile on my face, and makes me dream of the spring that's right around the corner and the summer beyond that (although in the daydream inspired by this wonderfully mild, "beige" scent, it would be an enjoyably cool kind of summer, not the offensively hot kind we've been suffering these last few years). This is going straight on my wishlist!

Beige Eau de Parfum by Chanel is honestly like the best shampoo scent, but way more elevated. It’s so feminine and soft—like the perfect balance of fresh florals and a bit of powdery warmth. Every time I wear it, it just feels like a cozy, fresh hug. It’s light and clean, but there’s something about it that makes me feel elegant and put together, without even trying. It’s definitely one of those fragrances that’s just effortless, but still leaves a lasting impression. I can wear it all day, and it never feels heavy or overpowering. It’s like you just stepped out of the shower, feeling fresh, but with this little touch of luxury. Every time I wear it, I feel like I’ve just stepped out of a luxurious spa—relaxed, feminine, and ready to take on the day!

I absolutely loved it from the first time I tried it on paper. Got a sample, tried at home, and couldn't really sense any smell at all... Went back to Chanel, tried from the tester bottle and I got this heavenly sensation. It's not in the notes but it makes me feel like an aldehyde frangipani honey heaven. I absolutely love it and I think the sample was off (from the original store). Now my full bottle is waiting to be milked till the last drop. Sillage is more intimate but will still get you recognised. It feels young but classic, nothing cloying, not your usual frangipani scent. It is not beachy, it is classic. Does not give that sun lotion vibe. Highly recommend to those who like Chanel's classic shnit and a summery, office friendly vibe.

Oh my goodness this stuff is beautiful! I don't find anything boring or ordinary about it. I find this to be a very classy, elegant, luminous scent. It smells like sunshine! Despite all the complaints with longevity, it lasts a decent amount of time on me. It lasts around 5 hours where I can smell a trail and smell it floating in the air around me. It opens with sparkly aldehydes and lemon it reminds me a lot of premier. After a few minutes the aldehydes start to dissipate and the freesisa and honey come out. I can smell Frangipani in the background. It gets sweeter as it dries down. It definitely smells like a Chanel. It reminds me of a very expensive body lotion mixed with some honey. I love it and it's on my top five.

I sampled this fragrance (EDP version) years ago and was impressed. Then it slipped from my radar. So many frags, so little time, right? I recently bought a few sample vials on eBay and now I've reassessed this lovely (and now discontinued) perfume and wonder why I didn't purchase a bottle back in the day when it was more affordable than now. The name doesn't do it justice; it's not "beige" (so many think 'beige' is a synonym for 'bland'). It's an endearing,charming fragrance, one that I'd happily wear daily . Something you'd wear not to garner attention; it's not a "PAY ATTENTION TO ME!" sort of frag, but one meant to gently draw others into your orbit..No loudness here, just gentle persuasion. I love it.

This is an updated review. I wasn’t too sure about Beige at first. I think it’s one of those fragrances that confused me on first try. I tried her again and I’m starting to better understand the fragrance. It’s sophisticated and elegant, without being too bold. I have a partial bottle on the way that looks more macerated, so I’m excited since my original complaint was I wanted the fragrance to give me a touch more of complexity. I was really craving frangipani & honey... the second time I tried I got it, but I still want a little more hah. I think Beige would make a perfect signature scent for spring. Can’t wait to explore her more. Update: my bottle is definitely more macerated and I love it!!

Sunny, honeyed frangipani flowers. Although frangipani is most often a starring note in fragrances with a tropical concept, I don't get an exotic impression from Beige - it feels more European to me but of course that's subjective. It smells of sunshine in the most polished way. It's a very simple yet very elegant scent that thrives in hot, humid weather and although white florals can be overpowering in the heat, Beige somehow behaves itself on my skin and does not intrude upon others around me. Were it not for social distancing it would be the perfect scent for garden parties, wedding receptions and summer evening date nights. Scrap that, it's good enough to wear on any occasion.

I really like this, I smell clearly the frangipani and honey in it, but after a while it may be a little cloying for me. A bit too sweet in my skin and I wonder if I could get tired of it if I tried to wear it frequently. Anyway I can't do that for now since I only have a 2 ml sample. But I love how I wear it, though. Really feminine and classy, it gets powdery after a couple of hours. The longevity and projection are ok, but could be better, like all Les Exclusifs it lacks power (but it's not the worst of the line in this aspect). A must try for anyone wanting to underline her feminine side.

This perfume is absolutely amazing for a hot, endless summer... This Chanel masterpiece is always beautiful, of course, but this summer, its sweet floral notes are truly captivating me. Perhaps it’s because, lately, wearing floral scents featuring "modern florals"—often with a bubblegum vibe and various ambroxan touches—had made me lose sight of what true, classic, natural sweet florals are like. Beige features that exotic, sun-drenched frangipani and golden, sun-kissed beeswax... exquisite, polished, yet playful. A gorgeous little Chanel gem 🌼🐝✨️✨️

This is how I feel: Beige outdoors is a supreme toned down hidden gem, silently elegant as it brushes past you, unnoticed by the common. Beige indoors makes the person wearing it more desirable yet not easily reached. #Unique Beige intimately clings in your memory and when remembered. Beige is subtle, light and creamy-ish. Soft sillage, and moderate-ish longevity depending on how hungry your skin is, how clean your body is, how generous you are with spraying, and the season. Beige is worn for YOU, not for others. This mentality makes it Ahhhhhhhhh.

Soft, floral, hints of sweetness and powdery, aldehydic, and ethereal...what I think of when I think of Chanel women's floral. Very high quality, well blended, natural, classic Chanel. Leans too feminine for me to wear, but enjoying this from my discovery set. Glad to have it and will be revisiting often. UPDATE (7/22/2022): Upon wearing again, I got impressions of a soft fluffy cashmere followed by the same soft floral powdery notes. Comforting to wear in bed on a balmy pleasant sunny day. This reminds me of my trip to Kauai. I went to a botanical garden, and there were lots of Plumeria trees there. Beige smells just like that place. This is pretty linear, and the smell is very pleasing. I’ve been on a hunt for a perfect plumeria scent to keep my memories of that trip, and this did it. Other frangipani scents I tried came off as artificial, but this one is masterfully done. I wrote it off as a generic soapy white floral, but after I tried it on, I realized that this was more than that to me.

Oh my dear this is gorgeous! I kind of regret trying this as I have ordered a bunch of perfumes on Black Friday, and now I want Beige too!... the desire for perfumes is insatiable, right? Very beige, powdery, creamy, soft and floral. So everyday, classic, beige sweater blue jeans kind of scent, ''I am glamourous, and I woke up being glamourous'' kind of scent... I am happy, and I live my life beautifully in luxury kind of scent. It is one of these perfume which actually makes your life better xx

This scent is Samsara after receiving a shy-girl makeover. No more soft iris, just pure rich tropical floral with a diffusive hedione polish. Ylang, frangipani, banana jasmine. It wears easily as most Chanels, having removed the animalics and indoles that normally characterize heavy florals, but is still sweet and heady. Definitely not a timid choice, but so wonderful and elegant, definitely one I’ll have to acquire come spring. I can only imagine how divine the parfum version must be.

I have to add to my review. This lasts longer than 5 hours on my skin. I sprayed this on in the morning and later that night I had to go to my kids basketball game. A group of young girls sat behind me and said who smells good? Smelling each other asking if it's one of them. Than one said whoever it is they smell like a baby. Like a new born. I was surprised not only that I could smell myself still but that the younger crowd thinks beige smells like a new born baby.

Chanel's take on a summery tropical scent; plumeria & frangipani with a sweet honey accord and lactonic creaminess from the hawthorn. It feels very austere and stark, like an impressionist's take on a tropical fragrance. Fitting, since this is Chanel and their fragrances tend to lean in this direction. Sillage and longevity are a match, very moderate. Best-suited in warm & hot weather, cold weather would make this lifeless.

Bought this for my wife, she loves it and I love it on her. I'm not good at going into details but I will tell you that it's Beautiful. Class in a bottle. Its easy to wear. I always felt its kind of sad when you buy an expensive fragrance that's only suitable for example special events and you only get to wear it 2-3 times a year but that's not the case with Beige, any day and any time you'll smell fabulous.

A beautiful, creamy floral. It's soft, warm, round and feminine. The frangipani stands out the most, which I love. It reminds me of a tropical, sunny beach. The only thing I don't like is its name "Beige". It sounds so boring. And this perfume is far from boring. Actually, for many years I was not attracted to this perfume because of its name. Chanel should have called it "Frangipani".

Beige is a beautiful honey, frangipani, slightly spicy (not in a heavy way, but light), I have the EDT version and I love it, but the EDP version is even nicer and longer lasting on my skin. It took me a while to love Beige, at first, I thought it was a lovely, nice, day time scent, but the more I wear it, I can really appreciate the CLASSIC beauty that it truly is.

Very beautiful aldehidic, soapy white floral. The honey and frangipani is not that prominent as it is the soapiness and the white flower. However I found this incredibly beautiful and feminine. Summer time perfume without being aquatic or citrus fresh. Just a clean white floral feminine aldehidic perfume with its pronounced chenelesque vibe.

This is a beautiful fragrance! It’s a stunning creamy mixture with tropical scents blended so wonderfully. It is a soft, classy, and clean fragrance. I picture someone laying on the couch in a beautiful beige sweater with black pants, reading a good book, and wearing this. It‘s my favorite of the options I’ve tried in the exclusive line.

I was in Saks today to purchase Rose Cherie . I left with some testers and beige was one of one. This is a beautiful, intoxicating and absolutely delicious. I’m going to use the rest of my tester, but I have a feeling that I will be back for a full bottle. Love ❤️

Yes, I’m a guy. I bought this today and it is fabulous. It is fresh and bright and it gives me feelings of nostalgia. It goes against my fragrance norm but I am so glad I now have it. My late mother’s favourite flower was frangipani and this is an ode to her.

I really enjoy this, since I find most Chanel perfumes unbearable. This one’s bright and warm at the same time, not overpowering. It was hard for me to pin down any of the notes on first sniff, which goes to show how well-blended this is.

I have a question? I love this fragrance,it smells so good! Could a man pull of this fragrance? To me it is floral and sweet, but it's mostly a fresh fragrance that I think a man confident man could pull off. What's your opinion?

The scent of old money riches. Elegant, brilliantly feminine, honeyed-bright and light, but not exactly subtle. She definitely has a presence but a hint of elusiveness; that makes her quite intriguingly untouchable.

Aldehyde + Yellow Flower + Animalic Honey. Changes throughout the wear - very reminiscent of classic perfumery. I can understand why certain reviewers find it unfitting for a modern palate.

Soft beautiful smooth floral perfume. I love this one and luckily this is also long lasting. This is my favorite Chanel perfume together with No 5 Eau premiere. Suitable for all occasions.

This is a wonderful scent. It's marketed towards women, but guys can pull it off. There are definitely some unisex fragrances that I don't feel I can pull off - this is not one of them.

I have a tiny sample bottle of Beige, which came with an order of another perfume. It's nice but a little bland to my nose, a sweet floral. I don't know what hawthorn blossoms smell like, so I can't speak to its accuracy. I definitely discern the honey and tropical flowers (although they seem well blended). I would describe this as a pleasant and tasteful perfume for someone who likes clean, sweet, slightly powdery fragrances. I prefer Misia, which seems more complex to my nose, but sometimes you just want a more streamlined or linear fragrance, and Beige could be it. I'm not sure I imagine the color beige smelling this way, but it does evoke a mood of pleasant elegance, so it would probably be great for an office. Update, four hours in. The longevity is superior, I'd say. This is all about how much you love the smell of honey and what smells to me like honeysuckle (but I know must be the freesia/frangipani combo). I agree with other commenters: it definitely does not smell beige to me. It seems more like a clear golden yellow, like sunlight filtered through autumn trees. There is apparently a hawthorn note, but I have no idea what hawthorn blossoms smell like so I can't say. It's also supposedly frangipani and freesia, but I mostly get the freesia, I guess because I don't 100% know what frangipani smells like (it's in leis, in Hawaii, but unfortunately I have yet to visit Hawaii). There is not much if any woods or chypre; I mostly get notes of honey and honeysuckle. Beige is often described as a good and inoffensive scent for the office, not unlike Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and I would agree that it is likely the least provocative of the Chanel perfumes. A dear friend wears Sycomore and other Chanel scents when she wants to be the big boss lady at work, and she needs to project a certain icy grandeur (she didn't use that phrase, but it's what I imagined when she was discussing her strategy). Even though people say Beige is good for the office, I'm not so sure my sweet friend would want something quite that sweet, unless it's to confuse people after a day or two of Sycomore. This is not spicy to my nose at all. I find it pretty and clean and feminine, and it also has a powdery, probably from the frangipani, that I tend to like (I love it in Misia anyway). Although I don't think it's at all apt, I do like Beige's innocuous name, and I also love that Chanel loved beige and considered it part of loving nature, because for her beige was a natural shade. But what I imagine when I smell this scent is a pretty rich girl in a camelhair swing coat, emerging from a taxicab, smelling of nice soaps and shampoos.

This fragrance been on my "want"list for last two years and I finally decided to take the plunge and buy it. I was suprised to see that it has frangipani in the top notes because it usually smells more sweet and tropical and Beige is anything but that. Its definately can be described as "green floral". After wearing it for a day, I have to say that i probably won't repuchase. Mostly because its too delicate for me and it doesn't last. This reminds me of original Bvlgari scent, Pour Femme which I believe is discontinued. I worn that one on and off, mostly at home or to bed because for me it brings sentimental memories from certain time of my life(when I first smelled that fragrance)-its scent reminded me of very nice expensive floral soap. Beige falls into same category-its sort of expensive soapy smell. Those types of scents are usually totally NOT my cup of tea but for some reason I loved Pour Femme and I love Beige. However, they both share very poor siliage and lasting power. It doesn't project AT ALL. Its elegant and beautiful. It smells expensive, like sophisticated socialite wearing high heels and latest Chanel bag. UPDATE i thought it doesn't last however i was wearing it to work. I sprayed about 6-7 sprays, and after about an hour, i got into elevator and the woman who came in with me exclaimed "omg you smell amazing!" So clearly it does last longer than i thought but this one you need to overspray, i think

With gentle soapy aldehydes and honeyed florals, Beige is a discreetly beautiful fragrance. I quite like the smell of hawthorn and I think it is used in this application to add a nuanced depth of green bitterness. Overall, with the addition of honey, and the tropical florals, it is by design on the sweet side. There is a transparency to the florals in Beige that I appreciate. It is not in anyway suffocating. It would make a beautiful gift for a bride to be. I like wearing Beige in the late months of spring and early months of summer. It blooms best on my skin in warmer temperatures. It lasts several hours. I am liberal with the application and usually use about four sprays. I bought my bottle from Harrods in 2022. Since then, the price on the Chanel website has gone up $200. While I enjoy Beige, I’m not willing to pay today’s price to repurchase it. You can still find deals on Harrod’s website and usually the shipping price is close to what you’ll pay on sales tax in the US. If you’re not set on a honeyed fragrance, you can scratch the same itch with Goutal’s Songes. Songes uses a very small amount of cumin to cut through the sweetness of the white florals. Very pretty and also quite a bit less expensive.

I like this far better than I thought I would. I was afraid of the honey note because honey usually smells like urine on me. However, here I just get the impression of sweet honey with no dirty unpleasant phase. Mostly it is comforting and creamy. I tend not to go for creamy in my perfume but rather like sharper florals that seem airy and cool, but this is so nice. This is a strong like, which is saying something since I would assume I would hate it. I don’t wear beige at all because it isn’t in my color wheel and I don’t like creamy scents on me, but Chanel made a liar of me. It is that nice. Update: I tried it some additional times and always after the first time I smelled some wet brown paper towels with a scent of some granular soap I had to use in elementary school 100 years ago. I don’t mind soapy scents, I go for them, but trust me this is not the scent anyone would purposely wear. It is my skin and chemistry and not the perfume. I gave the samples to my supervisor and it smelled awesome on him and nothing at all like it does on me! I would suggest testing more than once just in case you may have a similar chemistry.

My parents once owned a house with beautiful frangipani trees in their yard and the smell of those flowers have been branded into my memory. So if you know what a true frangipani flower smells like, then you know that Beige is not it. Frangipani is tropical, creamy and intoxicating. Beige is pretty, polite and safe. I like it though, but there was something familiar about it to me. I keep smelling, closing my eyes to increase my memory recall. Then, I found it. Back in the 90's, Crabtree and Evelyn had a line called "Freesia". It was a crowd pleasing, linear floral scent. My freshman year boyfriend gifted it to me. We didn't end up staying together that long, which is why perhaps those memories were so hard for me to pinpoint. But indeed, Beige is a floral that dominates with freesia. Two hours later, this (on my skin) has evolved into a very expensive smelling version of Baby Magic Lotion (which only a certain age in the US will understand). It's clean, soapy, floral and fresh. Not headache inducing in the least. It's just a solid fragrance that you don't have to give much thought to if you want to smell great.

From the three Les Exclusifs from Chanel that I wanted to test for years now, I expected that Beige to be an instant hit and go on my to buy list. But luckily for my wallet, I didn’t clicked with Beige. The notes listed are screaming my name, so I was like, there’s no way I am not going to love Beige... I like it, but I don’t think it’s anything special about it to worth adding it to my collection one day and the ridiculous prices Chanel charges for their Les Exclusives. It’s a nice tropical, white, sheer floral with a touch of sweetness, but the honey is minimal here and the flowers come across a bit sharp and maybe not very well balanced. I get more freesia out of this than frangipani and honey... Something is missing in this and I already have better scents in my collection that feature these notes in various combinations that I prefer way more and cost way less!!

I first sampled this in the summer time and while I didn’t dislike it, I found it to be pretty boring and promptly threw it back in my sample box to live until tonight, when I wanted a little something to sniff before bed but nothing that was going to keep me up. Pulling out my sample again in winter, I don’t find it quite so boring, but still close enough to Bath and Body Works Plumeria (which I loved in high school) to make me feel a bit too old to wear it. There’s nothing wrong with this scent! It’s a soft, sweet, fresh freesia (which I also loved ages ago). It smells good! It’s just my association that keeps me from being able to really enjoy this perfume, and I can’t help the feeling that’s like walking into, well, Bath and Body Works- it’s nice for someone, but not for me anymore.

(Julianna's Perfume "Simply Gorgeous" dupe, extrait de parfum) Was looking for a frangipani scent; My late grandfather was Hawaiian-Japanese. Born in Lahaina, Maui. He died 15 years ago. When I tell you that I immediately burst into tears upon spraying this-- I'm not kidding. It felt like a draping of a Lei around my neck. And a big hug from my grandfather. I sprayed the original the other day and JP is a very accurate of a dupe and I love that I can spray mine without caution. $50 for 50mL of JP 16-24+ hours of longevity. Longer on clothing, up to 36. I have never experienced that with a fragrance. The scent's huge projection and sillage will near closer as time goes on, to a nice bubble at the end, skin scent at the end of the 24 hours. Highly recommend.

Beige is Chanel meets the tropics. It has the formal, "perfumey" smell that is characteristic of a lot of Chanel fragrances, but the frangipani adds a playful twist; it's a bit tropical and very Chanel. The opening is probably the most challenging part. I get a lot of sharp freesia, musk (not listed), and something a bit bitter. I don't get the bug spray effect that others have picked up on (thankfully). As it develops the frangipani comes out and is slightly sweetened by the honey. I like this. It's light, feminine, and very versatile. The only downside for me was that the projection wasn't the best on me, even when I oversprayed.

I bought a little bottle (luxury sample size) a while ago. I had high hopes since frangipani + honey seems like a dream combo but this is not what I was expecting. It definitely has some Chanel DNA. It's elegant and very feminine but it's not really my style after all. It misses something, some sort of playfulness or quirkiness. I think the notes on Fragrantica and kinda misleading. I find nothing tropical in that perfume. Definitely more floral than sweet. It would not be so popular if was not made by Chanel I think. Overall a nice and elegant abstract white floral perfume but nothing special.

ETA: I like this best in the fall, cooler weather really brings out the honey and I find it just that much smoother, warmer and more comforting than it smells in summer. A happy, sunny, frangipani-centric floral. Personally I'd have said it calls to mind orange more than beige, and it smells fun, like something I'd wear to Disneyland or a family beach resort. Yes it does smell a bit like 90s shampoo, and maybe I'm thinking orange because it reminds me of V05? Despite the nostalgia it does smell classy and elegant in its simplicity, but it's a distinctly cheerful elegance.
