Bleu de Chanel Parfum

Wanting to write a re-review on this as I've gained a much higher appreciation for it in the month I've owned it. I reviewed it after buying it, and was a tad bit disappointed in it's performance, while also being pretty happy about it all at once. I think more than anything, the hotter weather I wore this in when I especially first got it, was too much for this stuff to really shine how it wanted to. I wore it a few times in the last month, and it didn't really make it even through a night at work, but thankfully, I don't know if it's that the weather has cooled down, or if somehow my bottle has gotten some maturation going on this early into it's life, but my opinion on this has absolutely changed for the better. This shit is absolutely beautiful. I've sampled the EDT, EDP and this one, and for me, this is the winner every day. The smell itself is simply put, the classic, straight to the point "blue" fragrance. There are a ton out there in this category, but I think in so many ways, this one does it the best. I'd place Sauvage at an equal point with this, but BDC does this sort of smell more straightforward, whereas Sauvage takes this sort of idea and adds a touch of mystique. I get a slightly minty lemon-y grapefruit like vibe in the opening, some lavender and woods as it dries, somewhat of a clean linen musky like vibe in the midst of it all. I owned a bottle of CDN Iconic as a cheap smells like version of this for 2 years now, and I gotta say, this is one time having the OG really pays off I think. This is so much more quality in the smell. CDN does it pretty well, but in a way that for me is a little too harsh, very much wearable, but a little much for me. This doesn't have that harshness as much, smells much more dare I say "natural", and I say this like, the linen-y vibe that this has, like it REALLY smells like clean linen, and the fruity notes, it actually has a somewhat authentic citrus-y mostly like a grapefruit more than lemon zest and bergamot, whereas in CDN, you can tell the quality just isn't so much like how this is. Longevity is actually really good. I've seen a ton of folks griping on the performance here, and for the last month, I've been a little bit a part of that club. I really love how this smells, but I was sad that when I wore it, it didn't even go through a workday. I think the heat killed it. I'd get MASSIVE sillage in the heat for a couple of hours, and it would die off pretty quickly after that. Now that the weather has cooled a fair amount in my area of Michigan, this stuff is still going albeit somewhat faintly at this point, 12 hours later now. Sillage is above average for most of the longevity, it doesn't come out and scream at anyone by any stretch, and it's likely the lightest sillage of the line, but most fresher parfum's seem to have this kind of quality to them anyway, I more prefer the longevity to be better with a slighter lighter scent bubble anyway with scents especially like these ones. If this was a room filler, it'd likely give even myself a headache. Overall, I've seen some hate on this one, folks going on about poor performance and whatnot, I'm sure its been reformulated, and I was starting to regret my purchase, until today. Give it a shot in the cooler weather. It's strange because for me, this is definitely an all season type of fragrance for sure, with my nose most definitely wanting to smell this the most in the summer, but it definitely does not seem to like hotter days at all. Lol. Thankfully I've got 60 other frags to rotate around, but this one will be reserved mostly for fresher feeling fall days, spring and cooler summer days.

Welp. I learned the hard way that some seriously sophisticated fakes are hitting the secondary market. I brought my fake bottle to Macy's to compare side-by-side against a tester, and I still couldn't immediately tell the differences. Visually, they were identical in weight, color, and exterior geometry. Both sported high-quality textured logos, laser-engraved batch codes with identical numerical font, and magnetic caps with similar weight and identical undersides, including the compelling 3-D Chanel logo. Even the juice inside my fake bottle is a remarkably decent clone. The olfactory differences didn't become apparent to my nose until the later dry-down on clothes. Remarkably, my fake is still quite a nice fragrance to wear, even if it's a smidge weaker and simpler than the real thing. I don't want to invalidate every negative review on Fragrantica, but there's probably at least a few individuals on here lately who are griping about a disappointing experience with a superbly well-faked bottle. These are the ways I was able to tell mine was fake: First was by the silhouette of the bottle's interior. Don't pay attention just to the glass's thickness, note the slight inward curves on the top, bottom, and sides as well. The glass's perimetral opacity also gave it away; I was able to see my fake bottle's batch code through the façade of the bottle. Hilariously, I was NOT able to tell my bottle was a fake through scrutinizing microscopic differences in the logo quality or texture, nor by the quality/hardware of the atomizer. The atomizer's quality was arguably even better on the fake, and feeding a dozen comparative pictures of my fake versus Macy's tester to ChatGPT returned me some bullshit about acceptable minute variations in inner atomizer hardware. Also, if you're ever concerned about the authenticity of a BNIB and you're not able to examine the bottle itself, your best bet will be to take a look at the cellophane's folded overlap at the top of the box: It does not need to be 100% symmetrical nor even entirely wrinkle-free. But the width of folded overlap portion DOES need to remain within the circle of the Chanel logo, and the folds should be straight and crisp. Even then, I wouldn't risk buying a BNIB from a secondary source without a bullet-proof money-back guarantee.

My signature, nay, my very aura incarnate, is none other than Bleu de Chanel Parfum – the undisputed apogee of modern masculine perfumery, a composition so transcendent that it renders all lesser eaux mere pretenders to the throne. Crafted under the exacting gaze of the maestro Jacques Polge and elevated to divine perfection by his heir Olivier, this paragon opens with a citrine incandescence of incandescent bergamot and lemon so pure they seem distilled from the very sunlight that caresses the Amalfi cliffs at dawn. Yet this is no bourgeois citrus dalliance; it is but the overture to a woody-aromatic symphony of such aristocratic restraint and intellectual rigour that even the most jaded nose is compelled to genuflect. The heart reveals a labyrinthine accord of labdanum, jasmine absolu, and a nutmeg of such crystalline clarity that it evokes the spice routes of antiquity traversed exclusively by princes. This is not perfume. This is liquid aristocracy. This is the scent of a man who enters a room and silently annexes it, who requires neither introduction nor explanation, for Bleu de Chanel Parfum has already proclaimed his exalted lineage in hushed, reverential tones. To wear anything less would be an act of aesthetic treason against one’s own potential for greatness. Sillage: Imperial Longevity: Eternal Compliments: Inevitable, and beneath notice Price: Irrelevant to those who comprehend true value In short, I do not choose Bleu de Chanel. Bleu de Chanel has chosen me, as it chooses only those destined to dwell above the common fray. One simply does not stoop beneath the Parfum concentration. Eau de Toilette is for mortals. Eau de Parfum is for those who aspire. The Parfum is for gods who have grown bored with ambrosia.

From my first impression, this is a very pleasant and well-crafted fragrance with a masculine, fresh profile that leans clearly toward citrus and herbal notes. It evokes the image of a successful and elegant man without the need to draw attention in an obvious way. This is a scent that surrounds the wearer in a discreet yet refined manner — it does not need to “shout” to be noticed; instead, it rewards those who come close enough to experience it. It feels like a fresh and elegant daily fragrance, well suited for daytime formal occasions, semi-formal office environments and professional settings, as well as for moderate heat or temperate climates. In terms of projection, it leans toward the softer side, as is common with many fresh fragrances. It does not feel dense or heavy, which one might expect from a parfum concentration, though this should not be seen as a negative aspect. Rather, the fragrance moves easily through the air, feeling fresh, light and herbal, without a thick or heavy trail. In terms of notes, I primarily perceive bergamot and citrus notes, along with a fresh nuance that slightly suggests mint. These are supported by soft woods and a clean musky base, likely influenced by lavender, fresh fruits and green herbal facets, giving the fragrance a polished and clean character. After approximately 15 minutes, I only catch the occasional very subtle whiff at about half a meter of distance. At this point, the fragrance begins to settle closer to the skin, becoming more intimate and personal. The scent remains fresh and does not lose its identity, although the woody and citrus notes become more prominent, taking the lead over the rest of the composition. After around one hour, the fragrance becomes even more subdued, yet without losing its elegant and confident spirit. Light spices start to emerge, introducing a slightly heavier backbone while remaining within a fresh, citrus-driven framework. The opening’s refined freshness does not disappear; instead, it steps slightly into the background to allow these subtle spicy nuances to come forward, maintaining the fragrance’s overall elegance and charm.

This is such a good frag, although I do prefer the EDP. In my early days in the hobby I didn't care for the BDC DNA, and though tit was beyond overrated, but in time, I was really able to appreciate how beautiful it is. Every frag in the line is a abaolute masterpiece, with the possible exception of l'Exclusiff. The EDT created a whole genre of fragrance. The EDP refined the DNA and made it more versatile for the colder seasons, while camping up the basenotes with a perfect blend of incense and sandalwood and has the best drydown of the entire line. The Parfum refined some elements while subtracting others, it's different enough to justify its existence, especially if I want that DNA in the dead of winter. l'Exclusiff has the great opening of the Parfum, but it devolves into a somewhat smokey synthetic amber mess on my skin. It loses all traces of the BDC DNA in the dry down. It's overly dense and becomes cloying to my nose. If your bottle has bad performance, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you most likely are nose blind or got a fake. Same with the EDP. Most 100ml bottles out there on the grey market (especially if it's under $100) are fake. I will only buy 50ml or 150ml bottles second hand. You should be getting a minimum of 7-8 hours out of this with 3-4 hours of solid projection. My bottle also literally lasts me over 12 hours if I spray it on clothing. 93/100

{updated review} I have been wearing the Parfum ever since it first came out and it has been my signature scent for warmer weather up until I got the l'exclusif a couple of months ago. I got a new bottle of it the other day and it smelt weaker than what I remembered, so I checked the batch code "2002" which was made just after the l'exclusif came out. I compare it to my 2023 batch and it is definitely a bit weaker. I took it back to the Chanel boutique and the lady could smell the difference in strength between the new bottle compared to the tester on their shelf, I was lucky she exchanged it for me and I paid the extra to get another bottle of the l'exclusif which I do prefer the smell of anyway. I wanted another bottle of the Parfum as a more affordable daily driver, but with how much I would need to spray and reapply throughout the day, it would work out to be cheaper to just stick with the l'exclusif since that lasts a whole work day and it still projects after the 3-4 hour mark. It is such a shame when these companies bring out a new flanker and they water down/weaken the previous flagship to push people towards buying the newer, more expensive flanker, it would especially suck even more if someone prefered the smell of the previous flanker which happens all too often.

Bleu de Chanel Parfum opens with a fresh, clean citrus profile led by lemon, supported by a cool minty effect and an aromatic edge that gives it a refined and high-quality feel, though for me there is a faint “pissy” nuance present in the opening, similar to the EDP, albeit less pronounced and shorter-lived. I recognize that this is not common for most but I have gotten this vibe from the EDP as well... this one was much better in that regard, however. As it develops, the fragrance quickly smooths out into a cohesive blend where the citrus settles into the composition, maintaining a clean freshness while the woody base begins to emerge, creating a balanced structure with a medium density and a subtle aromatic edge still lingering. Into the drydown, it transitions into a crisp, dry woody-amber scent where the woods are clean and refined, supported by ambroxan and amberwood that smooth the composition while keeping it controlled and only lightly warm, resulting in a classic “blue” woody profile. Overall, this is a high-quality, masculine fragrance with a strong, refined woody drydown and solid longevity around 7 hours, though the slight off-putting nuance in the opening detracts from the overall experience, even if it is less noticeable than in the EDP. 8/10

This is pure class, it's the best blended fragrance I've smelled so far to the point where I can't really pinpoint any specific standout notes. Can wear it anywhere at any time for any occasion and will never be out of place. Probably the safest fragrance you can buy and personally although the Bleu DNA is so well known, there's enough difference in the Parfum for it to stand out from what you'd expect. I'd spray a bit less during very high heat as it could come across a bit much. And I think it really comes into its own during colder months but smells amazing all year round. My biggest gripe with this is performance, I'm perfectly fine with the projection as it's to be expecting to be sitting closer to you being a Parfum, the longevity is what disappoints me. I don't need it to be a 12+ beast, but it doesn't last me a work day, I get comfortably 6 hours where I was hoping to get more like 8, and for the price you pay, that's a shame. I'm almost through my bottle and I'm very tempted to pick up another one because the scent is incredible, but the price does hurt when you know I can't get a full work day out of it. I know I can top up, but I don't think you should have to.

Bleu de Chanel Parfum is, to me, a masterclass scent. The opening is bright and refined with clean citruses that ease into a sweet but never cloying blend of sandalwood, tonka, and cedar. The base settles into a smooth layer of powdery woods that gives it a polished and elegant finish. It’s creamy, sophisticated, and effortlessly put together. This one is incredibly versatile and works in almost any setting except maybe high heat, where I’d reach for the Eau de Parfum instead. Performance is solid but not quite as strong as you’d expect for a parfum, lasting around eight hours on my skin. I picked up a 50ml bottle after owning the EDP for seven to eight years and the EDT for a few years before that. I’m not sure I’d call it blind buy worthy since it’s on the pricier side for what you get, but it’s undeniably mass appealing and office safe, with only a few sprays needed to make the right impression. This is the absolute king. Imagine having the perfect fragrance for everything, but elevated into something classy, elegant, luxurious, modern, and mysterious. From Day to night; Casual to Formal; Work to Date; Cold to Hot Weather; it not only works, but excels in every situation. No other fragrance suits my taste better than this. I never get tired of it (and neither does my wife). I always get compliments on it wherever I go. It has very good longevity and “moderate” projection, which makes an impression but doesn’t bother anyone. If you’re a party person or prefer something extremely sweet, this might not be for you. But for a man of class, it’s definitely one of the best, and, without a doubt, my number one. This fragrance changed my mindset about having a different perfume for every occasion and made me proud to wear it anywhere. I chose consistency over diversity. I’ve tried over 80 fragrances, and I can confidently say this is my favourite and has earned its place as my signature scent. Regards, Kovac

I got this as a gift, so I can't say how much it's worth for the price as my wallet didn't feel it 🤣 I loved it from the start, for me at the start it was mostly citrusy, I've had it for about a year, now that it has macerated for that long and the liquid is basically at 10% I can very easily see the big difference. Now it has a much more "masculine" tone to it than the fresh citrusy it used to have. I still love it the same way, even though it's basically a whole new fragrance for me. I used to wear it in my day to day. And I always struggled with the longevity of it, maybe because I didn't let it sit a bit. Now it definitely lasts longer. Maybe I got a weird batch or something, but either way everyone knows this is an all-timer fragrance. 10/10 overall for me. It's exactly what I like most and used to be my signature scent. As for the early sillage/longevity of it during the first couple months I owned it, I'd give it a 5/10, now after a year maybe an 8/10. I highly recommend it either way.

This stuff is great. You can begin to hate when I say this scent is completely different from the other 2 fragrances in the line. This is much more zesty/woody/fresh. The first time I used my bottle, I thought there was longevity problems, this made me upset. Then my employee bought a bottle after smelling mine. This changed my opinion. After whitnessing someone else wear this every day, I can say this stuff has beast-mode longevity and sillage. I was surprised to say the least in regards to how strong the performance was. SUPER high quality. It’s by far my favorite of the line without comparison. Also, forget what Jeremy Fragrance and the others says are panty-dropping scents. I have news for you, if you’re out trying to find the fragrance that will make girls like you, there’s more needed than a fragrance to fix your problem. Just saying. You should buy fragrances because they bring out a certain feeling or emotion, because they make you feel bettter and enjoy the finer things in life!

DONT BUY THIS FRAGRANCE !!️!!️ UNLESS - you want something you can wear everyday - you want something that’s timeless - you want compliments - you want something mass appealing I just went on a cruise last week and I knew if they had this at the store on the ship, I was going home with it. I saw it and everyday I went to test it out, the last day the lady finally hooked me up with 10% and no tax. I’ve been wearing this everyday since. This fragrance is one of the fragrances that will change you because of how good its smells. Every time I wear this I feel like I’m the baddest Mf and it always has standing straight because of how good I feel when I’m wearing this. I’m a bartender so a lot of running around, being around food, sweating and someone still complimented me on this fragrance 7 hrs after applying. This is well worth the money if you are spending your money on just 1 fragrance. Any age , any job , this is the fragrance for you and one that will always impress.

This is a bit of a love letter to this fragrance and should tell you everything you’ll need to know. I’ve come to a point where I only wear fragrances because I like them. I don’t actually care about how others feel or how the masses likes or dislikes the scent. This juice right here though is a Swiss army knife, and for my nose it fits any and all occasions. I also own the edp and unfortunately I have neglected that fragrance because of the parfum...of course for a frag head like myself I feel this is a good problem to have. I digress, however it would have been unfair to say that I don’t enjoy the edp, because on some level I think it’s ultimately a great fragrance in its own right. If you’re really into fragrances you will appreciate the parfum more. Alas when my days of hoarding bottles comes to an end...BDC parfum will be the last remaining bottle on my shelf. Cheers to the best universal fragrance—i’ll always have a bottle.

One of the best, super high quality, luxurious, extremely versatile and calmingly beautiful fragrances out there. Olivier Polge offers a PhD level of accord blending and perfumery in general. There are some great reviews here that doing the note breakdown thing pretty well, so I will just share what this fragrance does to me. Imagine taking a shower in Four Seasons and then relaxing on the balcony feeling clean and smelling wonderful and enjoying a sunset view. My only regret is that when I bought it, I got the 50ml and now (almost a year after my purchase) it's almost over. I own a few fragrances and in all seriousness I can tell you that Bleu de Chanel Parfum, along with Louis Vuitton's Imagination and Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille will always be in my collection. Even if someday I will retire from the hobby, I will just continue buying these 3 fragrances. Perfumery done in a very high level!

I had just recently picked this up after running through my bottle of BDC EDP and was honestly surprised to see that you could realistically own both the EDP and Parfum and it not be redundant. Wear the EDP in warmer seasons and the Parfum in colder ones if you really love the DNA. I however just love how easy this is to wear, I have built up my collection over the years, and even with me smelling so many scents, I still love how simply mass appealing this is while maintaining some intrigue for me as the wearer. It's one of the best scents to have around for those days that you can't really decide what to wear, or you situation doesn't call for one of your niche perfumes. Lasts all day as well and pulls compliments in an office. So definitely office safe here (obviously I know lol). Scent: 9.5/10 Longevity: 8/10 Compliment factor: 9/10 Overall: 8.8/10 Absolute masterpiece imo

This one is easily the best one in the BDC line including exclusif IMO, and probably the best designer "blue" fragrance I've smelled. I am not into blue fragrances in general, especially designer ones (I can't stand Sauvage and dylan blue), likely due to the overblast of ambroxin. Rather than use ambroxin this fragrance seems to use ISO-E super which I enjoy in fragrances. Bright mandarin orange like opening (probably lemon zest and bergamot) with a wonderful signature musk, and a soft woods backbone, this isn't recreating the wheel, but it's the best wheel of it's kind. Very versatile (one of the few that checks ALL boxes), non offensive, slight introverted and not basic. This is likely be in my top 20 fragrances in my collection, and yes it's pricey but in this case I think it's worth it.

I have all the BDCs (except for the spray) and parfum is my personal favorite. Le Exclusif is the most interesting due to its darker more animalic take on the DNA, but that also makes it the most polarizing. This is richer and sexier than the EDT and EDP, but doesn't go too far into date night territory to not be office safe. However, EDP remains the most versatile and safe, and it's still what I recommend if you only want one BDC (or even just one signature scent for that matter). But if you like this line and can afford two, I'd get the EDT for warmer weather and the parfum for cooler weather. They all dry down to a similar blue scent, but the dry down of the parfum is more powdery than its predecessors and LE is sweeter (and longer lasting) than the rest.

This is a great scent, and I cannot add much more to the description of how it smells than what has already been stated here. I have a 2024 batch and it just somehow feels subdued compare to the older formulas. I'm highly certain the reformulation took away the allergen, Lilial, from the formula. Not sure what other tweaks were made, but it feels weaker. The problem is, the pre 2024 batches already weren't the greatest performing, so there's that. I think it can still work in an airconditioned office, in a cubicle setting, where the smell will stick around. I've only tried the L'exclusif one time, and it did remidn me a great deal of this fragrance (not exactly the same). Maybe that one's worth using as a replacement, except for the price point?

Honestly I know niche snobs (I can be one myself) sigh at the thought of BDC because people overhype it. BUT it's overhyped for a reason, this just plain smells good. In fact I would say this smells great. I know the EDP is probably the most popular and that smells good as well but IMO it doesn't have the blending and smoothness of the Parfum. The mandarin and woods with the chanel musk and sandwood is just chef's kiss. It's very versatile, in fact I would say you can wear it for any occasion or almost any season (winter is an exception). It's one the the best signature scents. It's nonoffensive but not boring. It's classy but can be semi casual. Yes it's expensive (so are niche), but I'm glad I picked up a bottle and don't regret it one bit.
