Chance Parfum

This is just beautiful! I received this sample, and am reminded at the impact samples used to make in my life, before this world-wide crisis left so many of us damaged, and this country so very bruised. Companies, magazines and retail markets once clambered to spread their new releases far and wide. They knew that allowing people to sample a wide variety perfumes, would ultimately sell a wide variety of perfumes. The public, whether in real time or at a later date, would build the buzz and eager obsession required for mass consumerism - often even re-marketing less than stellar initial sales. It was also an unspoken transparency between the company and the consumer - a large matter of mutual respect, if you will - that guaranteed vast positive reviews, which then supplied their profit bracket. If we knew how it smelled, and still purchased, we were infinitely more inclined to be pleased with the product. Simple, right? Things changed apparently, without my knowing. Now corporations stubbornly relinquish them, sometimes at exorbitant prices, and magazines have pulled nearly all the advertisement, that was once fiscally justified. "Where is she going with all this?" you might ask: Well, that is exactly how I've come to love this one. I was sent a random sample with another purchase, and after learning it was released quite sometime ago, am grateful that one person has dared to be so generous. I also noticed this is classified as a chypre, which brings me to a quandary as to why it has achieved that notation, without any of the classic requirements, as did Burberry Body, evoking similar pause. My nose is easily seduced with that notion; it does smell like a chypre...but does that necessarily make it so? The list of ingredients seems abrupt, and not quite representative of the scent produced on skin, or blotter in fact. This was composed by Jacques Polge, and he often truncates lists to provoke the wearers imagination and interpretation. So either Chanel has chosen obtusely, to only release certain notes, or as in Alien, we are witnessing a matter of proportion. Ultimately, the composition is fresh and stunning, and although only jasmine and iris are listed, there is a myriad of other flora. Its plunging your nose into a fresh bouquet of flowers on a sunny day. This smells clean and proper; formally precise, with buttoned to the neck poise, and savage heels; tight hair and crimson lips. The more I smell this, the more I cease caring how many things are included to create such a fresh precision. I simply yearn to wear it, and stroll about with its confident abandon. Assured by my own choices, eager with ambition, and secure with myself. The sender of this sample has certainly assured a purchase, and all because they took a chance with Chance.

I have an original release that I bought off Mercari for a very good price. The person selling it never really liked it but it’s an absolute love for me. But I am surprised patchouli isn’t listed in Fragrantica’w notes. I love Fragrantica but I am finding more and more that I cannot always trust what they list as the notes. ANYWAYS. This is not my favorite, but do like it a lot. I get Pink Pepper/Iris/Vanilla/Musk/Amber-Patchouli, kinda the essence notes of Chance. And it’s honestly intense but only on a very skin-scent level. Every once in a while I’ll get a waft here and there, but not like I do with the EDT and EDP. Chance is one of my favorite scents but I think I prefer the EDT and EDP. But as I type this I take back on what I said this iteration not being my favorite. It’s another essence of Chance. Intense, but subtle. It’s lovely. My first Chanel ever was Coco Mademoiselle. And I’ve gone through so many, vintage and new. But Chance, Coromandel, and Allure Sensuelle seem to be my absolute favorites. Despite also loving No 19 and Égoïste it must be something with that...patchouli. They just blend it so magically. Ok, getting carried away. Another lovely Chanel. But this parfum definitely has patchouli, that’s why I love it so much. When I wear it I feel so comfortable with myself. Just, regal/beautiful/at peace/powerful/elegant/the way I wanna be. Oh how Chanel makes me so beautiful and awake to who I am. 🥀

Chance extrait : First off why so few reviews on this One ? My lovely fella treated me to this after seeing how much I loved the edp, a huge 35 ml tester from France , I waited Patiently for customs to release my blind buy all excited ! This extrait version is not all that much different from the edp, Darker , less citrus top notes , it seems like it has a deeper Spicier feel even than the edp ,more amber too, deffo a touch more resinous,richer with an orangey note. What I found out is when you layer the pure Parfum and the edp You get an even better deeper version of Chance, ( well u would obviously lol) perfection ! so if you adore Chance Edp you may enjoy layering👍🏻 Do you need pure Parfum if you already own the edp ? Not really , as there fairly similar in all honesty, but if you really love chance edp then why not own both. Mines getting used plenty , it’s moved into my top 5. Chanel perfumes are so luxurious , and beautifully crafted, Luckily they seem to blend quite well my skin chemistry, and I don’t get this with ysl or Dior as much, Chanel Just works for me that bit more than my other favourite houses. If I had the money ( I don’t sadly) I’d own every Chanel Parfum in Existence , for now I will treasure my no 5 , no 19 and Chance Parfums , all are stunning. I just bought second hand chance, which was supposed to be edt, while i checked the bottom and...it said parfum xD what is more, it is a tester and has all notes in the back. I finally found some clarity on wikipedia about it, parfum was launched in the same year as EDT but had different notes and here guys I present the original ones which I have listed on tester original bottle: lemon cedrat, white musc, pink pepper, iris, vanilla, jasmine, vetiver, amber patchouli, hyacinth, ambrette. This fits wikipedia description of parfum, also my bottle was produced in 2013 (batch code). EDP was launched way later than EDT and with same notes as parfum but of course different concentration as I understand and double checked but correct me if im wrong. It smells damn good btw :D

Timeless and universal. Always pleasing, fresh with substantial background. It has many more notes than listed here: cedrat, white musk, ambrette, pink pepper, iris, vanilla, jasmine, fresh vetiver, amber, patchouli, hyacinth. It is vivid but gentle and never overwhelming. It lasts long. It is pretty in every season. The pure parfum version is very similar to the eau de parfum, but fresher than even the eau de toilette thanks to cedrat. Feminine and soft thanks to jasmine and iris. Deep and substantial thanks to vetiver, amber and a drop of patchouli. Chance is special, and the pure parfum concentration makes it even more so.

I have a 35 ml tester-spray with the notes specified on the back of its bottle: lemon cedrat, ambrette, hyacinth, patchouli, amber, fresh vetiver, jasmine, vanilla, iris, pink pepper, white musk. You can see it in my pictures in Fragram. Chance Parfum is an amazingly beautiful floral perfume, deep, rich, endlessly feminine. Has an extremely long trail. Longevity is about 12 hours on my skin and much more on my hair.

So I adore the EDP version of this, the patchouli mixed with the Jasmine, Iris and Vanilla is to die for .. I love it so much that I decided to buy the pure parfum. I’m wearing it right now, and it’s stunning. Its very close to the skin, but the vanilla and the iris are more prominent, the patchouli seems to be more tamed. Chance EDP and the Pure Parfum embody modern elegance to me .

A classic composition in the spirit of Chanel, yet distinct from icons like No. 5 or No. 19. I would describe it as modern classic. A calm, balanced, powdery-floral fragrance with moderate sillage and good longevity lasting several hours. One reapplication allows the scent to stay close to the skin all day. A very pleasant, luminous, and safe perfume for a lady.

A very popular Chanel perfume, perfect for work or a dinner out. Probably screams more serious than fun but it is very versatile and earns many compliments. A great everyday perfume that won't offend anyone and you will find yourself turning to use more than you realise.

Slighty tangy opening with pink pepper, leads into a lovely and lightly powdery vanillic jasmine. Lasts for ages, smells best in warm weather.

I got this perfume as a sudden gift from my boss in 2008.. I really liked it. Used it daily, just one drop, lasted 24h. But once my boyfriend sniffed my neck and said "it's really classy and feminine, my grandma had a similar scent in her apartment....." 🙈 After 13 years it's still good, hasn't changed much in the bottle. I gave it to my mother in law, she is happy) This is something timeless

After a long time of wearing Coco on special occasions really cold weather this is my second favorite Chanel. I'm happy with it I try not wearing it every day since it's expensive. It's a very subtle skin scent on me luxurious and classy. Every girl needs a Chanel!

Sad what perfume has become. This smells very synthetic. I remember what Chance smelled like when it first came out, and the real fragrance no longer exists. It had a gorgeous natural vanilla note and didn't smell like a bunch of chemicals. It was reformulated in 2014 when the frag authorities in the EU banned a bunch of natural materials, and Chance died at that point. I hoped that by buying the Parfum I might get some real vanilla, but this still doesn't resemble the real Chance and is just fruity, sweet chemicals. Luckily the stopper broke on my bottle almost immediately. When I contacted Chanel, they simply refunded my money, so at least I didn't have to pay for this awful stuff.

I have to pinch myself. Always when I smell this, it, this...whatever it is, to see if I am still alive. I deeply wonder what Polge (parfumer) has done to himself? Is he kidnapped? Did he lose his mind? There is a difference between toilet cleaner makers and Perfumers. First one has to make a scent without layering, strong enough to cover up the toilet use smell and kick you out fast (this scent is so annoying I have to leave the place if I smell it around me). Second are born talents, Perfumers, with exceptional noses. One's that smell plants growing, the earth smells moving, cultures understanding, sexes differences seeing, storytelling...they are melancholy magicians. So what is this smell? Is it first or second? Be fair with yourself. Yes, it's first. Irritating toilet cleaner carrying the name of the legendary character female called Gabrielle Chanel. I am pretty sure she would say "I didn't approve that, put it out of my face." Now comes another question. These people, who never invented anything in their life, never sewed a whole night, one single night or did any other work, do they understand, what they are doing or they just don't care. I predict they think how great their work is. How innovative. Well, it's not. Armpit deodorants in simple markets are more alluring than this "Chanel" fragrance. At least more powdery. This is one big, thin, toilet cleaner shame. They say it's a cousin of Mademoiselle. Horrible both. Both fraudulent attempts to even think to reach the greatness of Coco's mind. This is not pathetic. For something to be pathetic, it can't repeat itself since Coco died. This is straightforward fraud of people and abuse of the name Chanel. And guess what? They, this sadly includes parfumer, think it's so good they can make different versions. Even if I wanna reflect I can't. It's that level of stupidity. I can't take it seriously. This is worse than some star perfumes. It's laughable. It made me laugh. Loud. Let's look at the description. powdery (no it's not) iris (thin one, toilet cleaner one) white floral (Jasmin in traces) musky (seriously?) vanilla (maybe in Chanel owner's imagination) violet (not even in colour) earthy (if that ugly bottle hits the ground) floral (like?) sweet (not even that) Let's check more. They say, frauds from Chanel, that this Chance... Wait, why Chance? To give them a chance to make more money over dead corpses they robbed and hate... Or Chance for what? Smelling linear chemical, thin Iris and Jasmine toilet cleaner? What exactly name Chance represents? In this case nothing. Linearism can't have a story. Definitely can't have a Chance. Back to checking more of the components. The main notes in this fragrance are pink pepper (the only good part of this "perfume" btw), pineapple (where?) jasmine, iris and a drop of vanilla patchouli with musk. 6! Thin 6! Should we compare that to for example Gres Cabotine? 27!!! Should we compare prices? Go ahead and do it yourself. Do you feel frauded? If not, then pardon, please enjoy, like I enjoy refusing to buy, support or give any attention, except critics, like right now, to a dead corpse called Chanel brand. As I wrote under Chance Fraiche (an extremely dumb name). Coco's best revenge for frauds that robbed her of her life work is them not being able to reach her might. Her unique talent. Try to compare the art of Caravaggio and Warhol. The first one kills you with one painting that he never repeated, while the second one prints endless colorised star faces leaving you emotionally and intellectually unimpressed. The first one is the artist. The second one thinks he is, in reality, he is a fraud and he knows that. With this Chance "perfume" they can't even lift the hot air Balloon to fly away with suitcases of money. To have their chance to escape. Bottle allegedly represents the will of fortune. With a diamond on the top. Seriously? Ridiculous.

This is nothing short of vile - is this what perfume has become since those 'terrible' BIG 80s? It is definitely not a chypre - where are the green notes? Where are any notes? What am I smelling? Nothing - a one note blast of musky fake floral that I would be disinclined to even use for air freshener. There are no notes, no layers, it doesn't develop one iota. Total fakery like this entire digital world of illusion.

Rank. Opens very lovely and promising then like wet talcum powder with a little cat urine mixed in for good measure. Just rank. 0 stars, would not recommend.

While the fragrance itself is pleasant and reminiscent of Chance, I have a problem... After a while of using the cap and/or the bottle to dab drops onto my skin, there has formed a precipitate (sediment) in the juice that mainly consists of my dead skin cells and my tiny skin hairs... Every time I use it they're just floating inside my bottle. So instead of feeling fresh and clean when I use it, I feel kinda gross. I think I saw somewhere that it used to be sold with a sprayer instead of this plain cap which, after my experience, I would appreciate *very* much. Not to mention that there is always the danger of accidentally flipping/dropping the bottle while it's open and spilling $100. Not worth the hassle, not worth the grossness. Won't repurchase. You have been warned! Edit: It was too gross, smelled off, and I threw it away. A shame!

This was given to me as a gift. Bitter, very sharp citrus, "perfumy", unoriginal, old-school powder thing going on, nondescript really. Reminds just a bit of something I used to wear 20 years ago, Carmen (in the beautiful blue bottle with a gold cap... cant remember who made it). Actually, yeah, really reminds me of it. But... This just does not fit my personality. Its not orginal at all, and its simply too bitter and sharp. I havent sniffed too many Chanel frags, but something tells me this has a Chanel signature in its scent somewhere. Because even though this was marketed for younger types I detect a familiar old (or classic, if you prefer) "perfume" vibe. Judging from the many reviews here, it seems I am not alone at all in feeling totally unmoved by this one.

Ehh Chanel, bunch of overrated, musty smelling fragrances. I really don't get the hype. I am bitter because I spent a lot for the parfum and it fell flat in all ways and not to mention the size was a teaspoon. Yeah, well there are more awe inspiring fragrances out there. I feel Chanel is heavy, musty, and very expired powdery smell to it. That's all. Not a fan.
