Chanel No 19 Poudre

After researching, and reading up on reviews here, as well as the discussion board conversations, I made a blind buy of Chanel No. 19 Poudre EDP, as my only way of getting my hands on it (which I very rarely, if ever do). I am SO delighted I made the leap (not cheap either, as 100ml was my only option), but I absolutely love it!! 💞 I can definitely see this as being a very personal preference, and the notes corresponding with what one typically likes in a fragrance. Personally I go for citrus, fresh, woody scents; even though citrus is listed low, I can very much detect more citrus in it than what one may expect, if going only off of the listed notes...and it is so, so much more complex than expected overall. On first spritz, I find zero synthetic/chemical smell (again, somewhat rare to me), immediately sensing a very green type of iris and jasmine, powdery, woody and earthy, clean and fresh, citrus, with just a hint of spiciness, all in a much warmer, really rather sensual vibe. It is quite beautiful, and one I don't see myself tiring of anytime soon, if at all. It is absolutely perfect on it's own, but layers beautifully as well, if wanting to play up any specific aspect. (The powdery strength in particular, in my opinion, wouldn't need any help to strengthen it whatsoever though, I find it just right.) Adding a dominant citrus (I tried both Solinotes Yuzu for this, and separately Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche...this was my favourite combination so far), any strong rose (like Elizabeth Arden Wild Rose) for slightly more depth and added floral, Artisan John Varvatos makes it even more earthy, with a nice spicy kick (the bold ginger plays so interestingly with the powdery notes here), while Armani Code for Women really amps up the blood orange citrus, general warmth, and subtle musk overall aspect (a perfect and gorgeous date night combo). As said though, I love, love it on it's own, but the few above layering options I have tried so far, they bring out the rather unique qualities of No. 19 Poudre for me. Lastly, I typically only use perfumes on my clothing, and it REALLY lasts forever (until washed), yet the sillage is just right, and not at all overpowering; if not overdone, it needs to be discovered on you, which is absolutely perfect for me. I find it to be inoffensive, one to maximum two sprays would be ideal for day and/or office wear, however it is also a really lovely and intoxicating date night perfume; the powdery scents are strong, giving it both that warm, but also seductive and sexy ambiance to it, while feeling pretty, inviting, and relaxing at the same time. In the relatively short time I have been experimenting with this EDP, without fail, I have been complimented and/or asked what I am wearing, by both men and women, so I feel it definitely appeals to people in general and stands out as something different and beautiful. 👌

No 19 poudre a floral powdery green. LOVELY ! on my skin this starts out grassy green with a citrusy not quite sharp but noticable fresh lemony start , but in less than a few mins it looses the grassy start and becomes delicate and powdery. The iris is more tender and soft , a tad warmer (maybe from the tonka bean) than in prada,s infusion d iris. Infusion is intensely powdery full on iris and incense and i love it very much but its got a slightly colder feel than this iris dominated chanel perfume which retains a slightly green and citrus feel with the iris ( instead of the incense of prada.) As time goes on it becomes a beautiful very chanel skin scent and sadly in my book its more an edt in that way than an edp so for me it looses a few points for being almost too soft. I have to use a lot of this to build any noticable scent and its quite veil like , a whisper of fragrance. In n fact 10 mins in this is perfection , sadly it fizzles out over the next half hour and i keep spraying to get that lovely 10 mins to half hour perfection, my partner says he can still smell it however . Chanel is quality and sometimes a gentle fragrance , a whisper of clean chanel powder , almost lemony icing sugar is more preferable to a heavy loud “perfumy “ perfume if you get my point. This is imtimate and beautiful but for me personally it stops just slightly short of having the sillage i need in a fragrance its just a tad too quiet for my liking, that said a generous sprayer will give a little more so for me overspraying is essential , i use mine like body spray all over. no 19 poudre is not harsh or bitter nor baby powder its something inbetween , a SILKY VEIL of beautiful and classy soft , expensive , powdery , fresh just detectable mandarin dusted in powdery iris , blended to perfection with tender kind hearted musks. Its quite agreeable and inoffensive , pretty even ,refreshing in summer and cuts crisp in the colder weather. TigerLillian down below explains this perfume perfectly ! edit: I lOVE this it's VERY addictive the dusty slightly sweet silk Powder & mandarin is perfection and makes you want to keep smelling your wrist ,I cannot stop picking it up ! No 19 poudre grows on you so much , give her time ! CHANEL : we would love a deeper pure parfum of this Please ! oh and while your at it can we have bath powder and oil too ? :)

Often, green fragrances are a challenge for me. Most of them smell a little unpleasant to me. No.19 Poudre is an exception for me. I find it one of the most beautiful fragrances. I love the dry, papery iris in the opening which is beautifully complemented by the green notes. This fragrance is romantic, feminine, classy and mature. I don't get much sweetness. Definitely not a sugary or fruity sweetness. The sweetnes that is there is more of the soft green sweetness of new buds in spring. I see the comparison the Prada Infusion D'Iris and agree there is some similarity, especially in the opening. As it dries down No. 19 is more green and powdery than the Prada while the citrus in the Prada is more pronounced. Both are beautiful and two of my go-to subtle fragrances. This is a longlasting fragrance, but the projection is disappointing. I love the fragrance and am disappointed that it is such an intimate scent. I wish it would float around me all day rather than stay settled on my skin. I've tried overspraying, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. It only projects for about 1-2 hours, but it lasts all day, 8-10 hours, as a skin scent. This does make it a great scent for work if you want something that is classy and beautiful that stays subtle. I love to wear No 19 Poudre in the springtime. It works well in all seasons and many occasions, but it smells like spring to me. When I wear it I envision a sunny, early spring day. There hasn't been rain for a few days and everything is new and fresh. It's a scent that just makes me smile. I am curious to try the EDT, because I love this one so much. It's not available in store where I live, so no testers. I will probably have to blind buy it...seems risky for a green scent. I am optimistic though. I have had a lot of success with Chanel overall. I love the atomizer on this fragrance. While the bottle is the same as the No 5 line, the atomizer is different. It dispenses the fragrance in a long slow fine mist. This allows for an all-over application with just a few sprays.

I was entirely unprepared for how wonderfully this turned out. I have sampled 19 Original at every Chanel counter I have ever been to, and I've always thought, "that's so interesting, but it would be better if it was just a touch softer and not as sharp." Turns out Christopher Sheldrake and Jacques Polge are a pair of MIND READERS because look at what we have here! On me, the first spray is EXACTLY like 19 Original. Fresh, green and luminous. Then, in ~5 minutes, that beautiful beautiful iris comes out to play. Poudre. Powder. The powdery iris softens that sharp grassy-greenness that 19 has, and turns it into a pillowy soft, fresh, cottony clean beauty. 19 Poudre smells to me like what a clean pillowcase would smell like if your fabric softener was Meadow-scented. It's just so... clean and soft, where the original was quite sharp and crisp. The drydown is creamy-musky-vaguely green. When dry, it's a lovely lovely skin scent - comforting and clean. Ugh, I can't believe this had existed since 2011 and I'm just now getting it. What is my life even about. I am blown away by this. It goes without saying, the sillage is moderate (maybe 'demure' is a better word) and the longevity is sufficient but not superb (4-5 hrs), as is true for any Chanel offering, bar Coco. I have no complaints on this front. This might be the modern no.5. There is a futuristic quality to it, so I feel comfortable saying this might turn out to be a "modern classic". And not that no.5 needs replacing, not at all, but if no.5 is the poster child for the aldehydic complex perfumes of the 20s, then no. 19 Poudre is that for the floral, simple perfumes of the 21st century. I think I've found the one (either that, or those "new and interesting musks" they discovered, are actually just hardcore drugs. Either way, I'm hooked).

What is everyone else smelling?? I find this nothing at all like Prada Infusion d'Iris. To me that's just pencil shavings & a pinch of iris as an afterthought. No.19 Poudre is totally different, not just in-your-face cedarwood (the prada is v little else!) this is the epitome of 'your skin but better' or how I've imagined those kind of scents to be, far more so than the 90s version of the Body Shop's White Musk, which was my previous best idea of that kind of feeling. I tried both 19s yesterday in store. Don't think I've ever even seen them around to test before. I LOVED both. The edp reminds me of hyacinths, not the straight hyacinth scent but that springy fresh watery feeling & an overall sense of them. The poudre is so smooth, nothing at all sticks out alone & I don't recall smelling either on anyone else ever. The sales woman only had a huge bottle of either n I couldn't get both so at a pinch I decided the Poudre was better, smoother, more rounded, not too sweet n more suitable for all seasons. The vetiver here is blended into the backgorund & doesn't leap out in a masculine way. I will definitely get No.19 at some point as well though. I did go round all the stores in my town before going back to the first one to see if there was anything other than a huge bottle but there wasn't. The Chanel assistant said it's not discontinued they just haven't made enough of it lately. As for longevity I could smell this on my jumper still 24hours later & all I did were a few test sprays in store, I haven't opened the bottle yet. This is pure class & you are extremely unlikely to smell it on anyone else so is a perfect signature scent, unlike Coco Madmoiselle, worn by the world n his wife. I should've tried this years ago! Genuinely beautiful.

There are only a few Chanels that I truly like so far in my aromatic journey; those are: Allure edt, Allure Sensuelle edp and edt, a little bit of Chance Edp wouldn't hurt, and then there are Coco and the 19 range. Coco I haven't really found a way to wear yet but 19 edp and 19 poudre are becoming quickly favorites of mine, especially the Poudre version. Which finally appeared in my local Sephora low on the shelves, these perfumes are not displayed properly with 19 edt missing completely, in May. Too pity, they are really really beautiful. 19 poudre smells by definition as a perfume. There is not one edible or sweet quality about it, instead it smells as abstract as possible and at the same time as modern as possible. You cannot deny the vintage flair, and you gotta love these types of scents. Powdery, bitter, dry, groomed, ladylike. So feminine, more feminine than Infusion of Iris. 19 Poudre definitely has more feelings than most irises I've smelled. Silky and sensual, lazy mayby? The scent of the afternoon in warm spring and summer when you finished all work and chores and just sit at your balcony, doing nothing. It's calm and quiet. Maybe melancholy. Maybe thinking too much. Appropriate for all seasons. Initially I smell a lot of acrid notes, something between patchouli and galbanum, white musk for sure, green notes will develop soon enough and underlying bitter peppery notes. Good projection but not the best longevity. Four hours tops with constant projection and then it starts fading, but I don't mind reapplying. For ladies. With the Cristalle range I'll deal when I'll find them displayed; I just don't seem to find them anywhere.

i keep reading that no 19 poudre and infusion d'iris by prada are very similar. id say that there are similaries but its not , at least on my skin, the same or too similar. you can own both without guilt lol. chanels no 19 poudre has a beautiful very green powdery iris like feel just like prada infusion diris but the galbanium note is very prominent in no 19 , it makes it a bit different to pradas infusion iris. in pradas infusion edp there is no obvious galbanium note ( galbanium is there but blended in more softer) instead the incence is the star player. The incence adds interest and debth. They both have beautiful iris of course but chanel comes accross warmer and prada cooler, both are amazing. on my skin no 19 poudre is a tad more interesting it just seems such quality and you can tell it has lots of beautiful blending but is very green still and powdery but galbanium makes it more bracing. prada infusion feels less obviously green yet it still is green and its a softer feel , creamy and dreamy with the incense, a sweetish less bracing feel than no 19, also no 19 poudre is less smoky , more smooth and a tad warmer than infusion d iris. infusion d iris is colder and cleaner than chanel 19 poudre. both are adorable marsterpiece perfumes , both get 10 out of 10 in my book but they are similar in places but not the same, im sorry i cant explain the differences and similarities in more depth as im new to reviews and my nose is not trained at all but diffrences there are as well as similarities. both are well worth buying or trying ! :)

I've bought a few fragrance sets over the years that come with matching lotion. It just occurred to me this evening that l can mix and match them with other fragrances, a "remix" so to speak. So l got to work. l put on the lotion of my BV "Jasmin Noir", something which l hardly ever used and decided to pair it with No. 19 Poudré because I'm Dissatisfied with its very soft 'footprint'. Both fragrances share quite a few traits, like Jasmine flowers, musk, Tonka, and slight green tonality of the two. I am utterly in love with the result!!! All the characteristics of Poudré appear amplified. A blast of cool, crisp galbanum, carroty vegetal iris, suede leather, cold triple milled bar soap, and a bit of powder. I believe in the Jasmin Noir there is a bit of Gardenia as well so together they present a more pronounced heart of living white flowers. For some moments l had to catch my breath. With the powder, musk, florals, and the huge dose of aldehydes, l thought l was smelling Chanel No.22. Everything is so white, starched, clean, non-sweet, prim and proper. As Poudré dials down as it always does the slightly heavier sweet, smoky, sexy, musky almost dessert elements of "Noir" appears. The once shy one liner Jasmine note in both perfumes is now firmly in a supporting role. Wow. Still very retro/vintage smelling with a touch of sexed up glamour. Very femme and sophisticated. I currently own a 100 ml of Poudré and 75 ml of the "Noir" lotion. Oh I'm going to have fun with these from now on.

At initial spray, I get the beautiful iris and Jasmine, but the vetiver overpowers it for a moment, giving it that "green" but dusty note everyone keeps talking about... I'm not a fan of vetiver, it always seems to ruin Chanel fragrances for me, giving it that "dusty old lady" vibe that Chanel seems to embody -- HOWEVER. That herbal dust mellows into becoming the invisible structure that holds up the powdery, waxy iris and warm jasmine... and there's an almost boozy, expensive, golden powder note that makes this parfum absolutely GORGEOUS. It's probably the creamy iris mixing with the gently sweet tonka and citrus notes? But there are no citrus notes to be smelled, they blend in, adding to the sparkling champagne vibe. This isn't a cold iris as someone else said. Cold means blue or purple.. not at all! This is green in an herbal sense, without being medical. It's more of a lipstick or makeup scent. To me, it's warm and comforting, like an expensive cashmere sweater in the early Autumn when there's still green leaves mixed in with the fall colors. Finally! A Chanel scent I can actually wear, and I'm actually in love. I am wearing it to bed because it feells like a fuzzy-warm hug. But you could probably wear this on a date, when you want to feel expensive, or just want to feel luxuriously cozy before bed. This changes all throughout the day and tapers off, but I don't mind that because I really hate loud perfumes. This one is soft. It really is a masterpiece.

I first smelled this when I was 17 and visiting colleges in Chicago. It was a moment when I was young but preparing for adulthood, and I wanted a perfume that reflected that. Nine years later, it is still my absolute favorite. The original bottle has mellowed out a little over the years, I think, with the green notes softening. I got a new bottle a few months ago, and it's just as sharp as I remember. The scent is cold and green and powdery, but I also find it to be a very comforting smell. It reminds me of walking into a museum on a stifling summer day, suddenly being embraced by cool, dry air in a marble entrance hall where my footsteps echo. It's a feeling of relief and being in my favorite place, a feeling of intimacy with myself. I feel like the truest, best version of myself when I wear this perfume. It's very put together, very calm and collected. It's a woman who is reserved and quiet, but not afraid to speak up when she has something important to say. She is polite but assertive, independent, a woman who knows her own mind and makes her own way in the world. She does not care if she is liked so long as she is respected. But at the end of the day, she is soft for the people she loves, a mother embracing a child, as the perfume finally is reduced to the base notes. It is a very complex fragrance, with excellent evolution, perfectly crafted. A masterpiece.

Chanel No 19 POUDRE Edp I have used as my signature scent for 10 years. Don’t really know the number of bottles I’ve spent in that period of time but I can assure you that nothing has changed since the day it was released. No 19 Poudre is a totally different perfume than No 19 so please stop putting them in the same category! Poudre is a wonderful and classy scent and its silage is moderate, which means it doesn’t leave your personal space. Only people who have come within the arm length of me could feel it and believe me, compliments were falling like a rain! Mr. Jacques Polge knew how to make an exceptional perfum as we all know very well. Poudre is a delicate and sophisticated scent that makes every woman feel so classy and feminine and makes men want to hold you in their arms just a little bit longer with their nose on your neck. ;) While working in India, ladies who eventually became my dear friends, literally begged me to bring them a bottle of Poudre when I was going back home on a holiday, so every time I went back from Europe to India I was taking couple of Chanel No 19 Poudre bottles with me, to make them “ feel elegant “ as they used to say. Don’t compare this perfume to any other, Poudre is a masterpiece that some will understand and feel with every fiber of their being, while some will stay blind to forever.

Damn, y'all really can't smell this stuff after an hour? I'm shocked. Must be the musks causing nose blindness. It lasts for almost an entire working day on me (seriously), and twice as long on clothing, although the sillage is intimate - which is entirely apropos for a scent like this. It's too elegant to be any louder. There's a layered richness to No. 19 Poudré that puts it a cut above most other department store perfume offerings, and over a decade after its launch I'm still a little surprised that something this high quality yet slightly esoteric hasn't been discontinued by now. Turns out we can have nice things! Fans of the original No. 19 will smile at the effusive galbanum/iris opening here, a shot of springtime with each spray. Things quickly go softer and more powdery (duh) soon after, with shades of cedar and vetiver and a veil of pillowy musk that feels relaxed and comforting, but never cloying. It's cool and dusty and blurry, but with an ever-present crispness that holds your attention. A soft, thin cardigan on a foggy spring day. A cup of green tea, a plush but sturdy armchair, and a good book. Refined; perhaps almost too refined to meet modern tastes for contrast and bombast. But No. 19 Poudré doesn't care. She's blissfully above such concerns. Her reading chair awaits.

this is pure elegance. if you are looking for a powdery, cozy, quiet luxury scent that will not scream "I'M WEARING PERFUME!" this is the one. this one diffuses so beautifully without being offensive. i've worn this on dinners, game nights, galas, concerts and direct heat, and it stayed powdery, pleasant and fresh. there is something so old-school with the way this smells, but still modern and not outdated. this screams TASTE. i even have a few friends who despises this perfume cuz it smells 'too good.' but be weary tho cuz if you are not accustomed to powdery perfumes, this will be extremely dry and choking. i mostly rely on my skin chemistry to make this perfume work, and it makes this so creamy, cozy and enveloping. like a bubble of soft iris and powder with a hint of greenness that make it feel fresh throughout. i get about 4-6 hours of wear outta this and that's good enough for me. i don't need to be smelling like perfume the whole day. that's overkill and nauseating. side note: i often layer this with something fruity (not the gourmand type), or something soapy to add a little sparkle to mute its mossy dryness. if you have melograno by santa maria novella, you HAVE to try it with this perfume, you won't regret it.

This is absolutely beautiful. It was a blind buy for me and I am so glad I bought it. Chanel No.19 Poudre is a beautiful feminine fragrance. It's dewy and warm while being chic, clean, and sophisticated. The iris is captivating and reminds me of my mother's beautiful gardens of irises. It does not project as well as other Chanel fragrances but I found that spraying my clothes helps it last longer and be more noticeable. It is one fragrance that draws compliments which are nice although I wear it to please myself. After the initial burst of spicy, foresty Galbanum there's a wonderfully sweet and feminine scent which wafts up notes of jasmine, violet, iris and occasionally musk. Chanel No 19 Poudre is not astringent like most green fragrances but is warm, somewhat soapy and powdery. This is a fragrance for a mature woman who is confident in herself, and is aware of her own strength as well as her femininity. It's ideal for any season and occasion but great for offices and walks outdoors on spring days. It evokes freshly mown grass and parchment as well as vintage clothing. Chanel No.19 Poudre makes me feel beautiful and elegant and is rapidly becoming one of my signature scents.

This is a gorgeous green and powdery iris on par with Prada's Infusion d'Iris, but I prefer the galbanum opening and base notes in this. Prada's Infusion reminds me a bit of the vintage Oil of Olay pink face lotion while this does not, but I digress. No 19 Poudré opens with a fresh, stemmy, and green galbanum note laced with citrus, which swiftly morphs into a dry, powdery iris note that stays throughout. The neroli and jasmine hum in the background and provide a nice balance without becoming too heady. The base is gorgeous and where things get cozy with musk, vetiver, and the sweetness of tonka. This is an extremely well-blended fragrance and on me, it's a compliment-getter that never becomes too sharp, too soapy, nor too cloying. This wears well in all seasons. While it seems an obvious spring or fall (cool weather) choice, I surprisingly love it on hot summer nights or on humid days when the original Chanel No 19 or other fragrances might feel a bit much. Highly recommend for fans of iris and powdery scents, in general. Also recommend if you find the original No 19 too green, earthy, or sharp.

Love at first sniff for me!! I am relieved that I find it different from Prada Infusion d'Iris. It is deeper and more powdery than IdI, which I find to be very airy and green, more like an EDT than an EDP. I just doused myself in Poudre and while I know I am somewhat anosmic to iris much to my dismay, I can still detect it and I love it here. This is now my ultimate iris. Other true loves include the Prada, Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile, and Love Chloe, which are all different, interesting, and beautiful in their own right. Not to say the others aren't, but this is so refined and elegant that it makes ME feel refined and elegant! I am not going to go into notes because so many of you have done a wonderful job doing so, and I haven't gotten to the dry down yet. The only negative is what has also been pointed out by so many. It is very weak, with low sillage, and while I can not speak to the longevity yet, I can tell that it will likely be at best a real skin scent sooner rather than later. I don't mind though, as I can spray all I want and get my iris on anytime I want! A masterpiece.

I bought a used bottle of this fragrance, and I am absolutely in love with it. The opening reminds me a little bit of Cristalle, in the same green vein although Cristalle is a lot more sharp. In the dry down it is like a cleaner and less spicy version of No 5. I think it is a very pretty, elegant and beautiful fragrance. It is not at all syrupy sweet, just very light and floral/powdery and a bit warm. Probably suitable for women of any age. It smells put-together, pure, classic, elegant, expensive, natural, introverted and calm. Well mannered. Not at all provocative or risky. The scent works very well on a rainy day in autumn. It has that slightly melancholic undertone, still beautiful, not harsh. Whereas Cristalle would suit better on a bright outdoors spring day full of energy, No 5 for an elegant evening full of joy, and Coco Mademoiselle for the signature of a young woman, I think this is the perfect scent to wear on special occasions to feel extra refined, pure, almost angelic. Like many have mentioned, a wedding. But it wouldn't offend anyone during daily use either.

Hello chanel 19 Poudré, I've wished you for a long time, I love your cousin infusion d'iris prada, you come with a greener iris, the prada has a more incense and woody iris, both powdery, the prada a little more. For a while I abandoned chanel 19 and wore only his cousin Prada, for some reason it reminded me of something masculine on my skin, maybe the green note. This week I decided to spray it again on my skin, and I fell in love with it, the smell of wet earth and soft iris. Reminds nature, in a delicate way. If this perfume were a person, it would certainly be a woman who owns herself, who uses perfume to please herself, without worrying about other people's opinion, someone with a free soul and connected to nature. It's the not-so-simple simplicity of chanel. I still prefer Prada! But this is my second favorite perfume from the maison chanel, after CM. As for longevity, I have nothing to complain about, chanel perfumes are great on my skin, in this regard it beats its cousin infusion d’iris.

With all the comparisons to the gorgeous Infusion D'Iris, I had to try this and even sprung for a full bottle blind buy. Luckily I got a good deal and like so many Chanel scents, this is a gorgeous perfume. The best description I read of it , describes it as a greener version of Infusion D'Iris, especially true at first spray. I love powdery scents, both Prada and Chanel have so many. I do think this Chanel comes on a bit stronger and lasts longer than Prada, but that is true it seems for most Chanel products I have tried.. Prada has some of the most perfectly beautiful scents, but they are so light and don't seem to last. On the other hand they are cheaper and more frequently discounted. No 19 Poudre seems to be a typical, refined Chanel scent. If you like Infusion D'Iris and want something just a bit stronger, with a tiny hint of the original No 19 added in , that will just become a powdery skin scent this is a pleasant choice. For myself, Infusion D'Iris still wins.

Ethereal , heavenly soft. Next to zero silage. Starts green and colognish , turns iris powdery and ends up with the same base as Chanel 5 edt . This is it to sum it up . I own the Chanel 19 edt vintage which is way stronger than this. And this is an edp. But in terms or wearability I definitely love this more. The Chanel 19 edt is hard to wear, it’s green and bitter and you need the right attitude and mood to pull it off. Chanel 19 Poudre is just beautiful even though the performance is so poor. It’s way overpriced for the lack of silage. I know iris is never loud and in your face, and this is ultimately an iris scent, but still . It’s a blind buy for me. Very beautiful , sad, meditative , melancholic ... not a trace of sexiness . Like a young and beautiful nun confined to monastery for life by her own choice ... carrying a secret or a deep pain from the past . It is wet foggy and soggy day today and this fits perfectly . Smells like fog itself indeed. I love it.

Chanel No 19 Poudre is one that had me whispering "oh my God... oh my God... oh my God... " to myself at first spritz. This opens with beautiful, crisp, lightly bitter galbanum tempered with dry vetiver. I find vetiver to be quite multi-faceted, sometimes woody and dry, sometimes rooty and earthy, and sometimes gently sweet like dirty, natural cacao. Here, with the introduction of powdery iris, the vetiver delivers a subliminally delicate bitter cacao accord. Tonka presents its darker side too with a dry coumarin/hay aspect. The citrus and neroli are also delicately bitter, slightly waxy and softened by musk, delivering that clean, French soap quality that is signature to this house and similar to the base of No 5 Eau Premiere. Jasmine is lucid and ethereal in the dry down which is dusted with iris. No 19 is such a sublime, delicate beauty with a dream-like enchantment. I'm completely captivated by the symphony of notes and enchanting reverie.

It's discontinued now. I have a couple of back ups. Poudre is a reminder to buy perfume for yourself, to have and to hold, for the way it lingers on your skin, the scent that never annoys or morphs into something you didn't sign up for, the perfect marriage. It manages to suggest without actually manifesting-almonds, marzipan, wedding cake, vows. Have you ever seen the video clip of Christopher Sheldrake showcasing Chanel's Iris butter? Iris pallida, the roots of which resemble ginger, but are pulverised to make perfumery base. In my horticultural training we split up iris rhizomes, discarding the dead centres, reducing the remaining pieces for replanting and rebirth. There was a mountain of them but slowly it was separated by nimble hands and the gossip of field workers. In each bottle of Poudre, not easily surpassed as a fragrance is a tiny fraction of iris butter. I love that it represents me, is of me, it's personal. Find your bliss.

Like some of the other reviewers stated, the sillage, projection and longevity is pathetic. Which is so sad given how STUNNING this perfume smells to me! It’s giving me elegant, mature, in charge, self sufficient business woman. It’s giving me class and dare I say, status? Anyway, very green and powdery, which normally I never did powder fragrances. I normally would shy away from those. But this baby reeled me in. Now I have three powdery/iris fragrances to my name all thanks to Chanel No. 19 Poudre. I’m not sure this would be a safe blind buy so make sure to take your time with this one. It’s best for date night but even during the day this is a winner because it does not stay on you long enough to choke out a room. After maybe 2 hours it’s a skin scent. Again, it’s sad how short lived it is and makes the price a little hefty for what you get. But I would still recommend it and I will buy it again once I’m done.

This is such a gorgeous and comforting perfume. I love the smell of vintage cosmetics and this reminds me a lot of my mom's old makeup bags in the best way. I put it on before bed and when I woke up I could still smell it. It's not a beast mode fragrance but it lasts a pretty long time on me as a skin scent. I'm wondering if people saying that it doesn't last are maybe going nose blind. From what I've seen this is not a popular fragrance and may have been discontinued which is a shame because it's such a lovely and comforting fragrance. I bought a full bottle and will be using it throughout the summer to stay fresh and clean smelling. I can't imagine anyone being offended or bothered by it. I'm a teacher and it's nice to know that when school starts back I can spray this a few times and I will be unlikely to bother any of my students. This just smells soapy, powdery, comforting and clean.

Oh, I LOVE the smell of Chanel 19 Poudre ! This was gifted to me from a wonderful friend. Beautiful soft chic lightly powdered scent that's cooling, rich, and pleasant. All by itself, Chanel 19 Poudre is a good office friendly perfume, non offensive, and like all current Chanel perfumes, barely noticeable after the first hour. As many others have said, the projection and lasting power isn't very good, but mixed with other truly long lasting scents, Chanel 19 Poudre projects and lasts. I spray on Avon Haiku, let it dry about 20 minutes, then spray Chanel 19 Poudre over it. Chanel 19 Poudre overcomes the scent of Haiku and takes the lead. Avon Haiku lends tremendous lasting power and projection to Chanel 19 Poudre, up to 12 hours on my skin. Maybe some day, Chanel will learn to add the same ingredient other companies have discovered, that gives projection and lasting power to perfumes.

Finally got my hands on a bottle of this. I never have tried it before, and thought I'd give her a spin. Wah, backordered on Chanel.com and was chomping at the bit, hoping they didn't discontinue. I wear No 19 EDP in the spring, and love it! It is perfect for the rainy slightly warmer days. I have Prada d'Iris and never reach for it. Loved it once. But only go for No 19 EDP in the spring, sometimes No 19 EDT also. Prada is good, this is better (on me). Having said all that, I will say, testing this in Dec ~ on me, is more rounded, not as sharp as EDP reg. No 19. I love this Poudre version tho. I can see me being a repeat buyer for this. I'm sucker punched when it has Iris in it, powder and galbanum. Also, when I see the JP name, I don't know, but he makes perfumes for my body chemistry. Honestly everything he makes, works on me. "Long live Jacques Polge".

I bought Chanel No. 19 Poudre when it first came out and I think with the possible exception of Coromandel it's the best perfume Chanel ever made. It's so unexpected in every way. You're expecting a sweet chalky powder, and you're hesitating, but you won't get that here. It's a soft fragrance, but not a dry scratchy one. I don't usually wear a lot of green fragrances, but this one overcomes all that with its lushness. It isn't even that much like Chanel No. 19. I wore the Poudre during the day today and the original 19 in parfum tonight and they really are quite different. And about the original No.19, the description of it here says it came out in 1970, but I'm sure that isn't correct. I wore it in college in 1966 and it came in a spray bottle, undoubtedly aerosol, available at higher end department stores. I think it came out in the 1920's or 1930's.

I've been obsessed with Poudré, Chanel no 19 EDT and the EDP. For weeks I've been trying to make up my mind on which one to get and I think I'm heading towards getting all of them. I'm in love. Chanel no 19 poudré is truly beautiful. It's a bouquet of iris which mellows down to a nice sweet vanilla note. The only criticism I have is that I wish the experience of the opening notes would last longer. However it didn't stop me from getting it. (spring, summer, early fall) Chanel no 19 EDT doesn't have that sweet note. On the opposite, it's green and crisp and that's what you get. It's longer lasting than the Poudré version and it is the "bitchiest" in my opinion. (spring, summer) - also my bf's favorite on me. The 19 EDP is rounder and more complexe because of the added rose notes. I initially fell in love with this version. (fall, winter)

I love this one so much. I enjoy both the green and fresh opening ( just like No 19 EDT/EDP) as well as the powdery musky slightly sweeter ( Tonka beans) dry down. It’s a tricky one to describe because it’s constantly changing and developing on me. It has a vintage vibe and I could imagine a mature lady loving this ( my grandmother might have had Chanel no 19. I’m not sure. Maybe it’s my imagination as I think of her when smelling this..) And that’s a good thing to me. I wear it on spring mornings to work or just at home. It’s so classy and sophisticated like an expensive soap. It’s one I wear for myself, not to attract compliments or attention. It’s not “loud” but rather closer to the skin and I think its perfect for this kind of scent. longevity is ok, 5,6 hours on my skin. The dry down is so beautiful, like a hug. Just love this.

I debated over days whether I should blind buy. I saw reviews saying it was like baby powder, which I hate. I saw reviews saying it was a Prada infusions d'iris dupe which I dislike for me it smells like aqua net hairspray. Well, glad I risked it. It starts green, sharp and dusty powdery. Soon after, 30 minutes...it's fresh and creamy vs dusty. I do get the similar iris note in Prada but without the fuzzy powdery aerosol hairspray smell. This is a easy wear, light green fragrance that stays close to you. I'm a fan of skin scents and this fits. For another reference I would say similar to Glossier You with some green freshness and comes off more refined. Beautiful, daily, inoffensive fragrance. Also, if you spray more liberal you will get more throw from it, if you choose.

This is truly a beautiful perfume, and I wanted so badly to love it. It is green, powdery, and very soft. Springtime in a bottle. Mature. Sophisticated. A little cold. However, I struggle with green notes, and I prefer warmer perfumes. So, this will only get a "like" for me, and I will be swapping my bottle. I do worry I will regret finding this girl a new home in the future, but it just doesn't "fit" me that well. I can't imagine myself reaching for it often. If you are looking for a delicate, clean, powdery fragrance -- this is for you! Very professional and elegant. I can see this working in the office or even on a date (depending on the vibe you want to give off). It's much more a daytime than nighttime wear, but this is easily signature scent worthy, in my opinion.

Effortless elegance in a bottle. I find it to be similar to Infusion d'Iris, but with one significant difference: I can't possibly imagine wearing Chanel 19 Poudre with jeans and flip-flops. I sprayed it before going outside in a short summer dress and it felt inappropriate. For me, this smells like a business scent for women age 35+. I will be wearing it to the office for sure. I do think 'effortless' is a good word though, because it doesn't scream 'notice me' or 'look at me I am powerful', rather it is like a confident, self-assured woman who sits back and amuzes herself at the younger ones who are trying to be noticed and are competing for attention. Longevity is reasonable. I also love the tonka and vetiver, delicious combo. Signature candidate, for sure.

This is in a league of its own. It's so soft, so sophisticated, so classy. Absolutely above fashion trends, a true modern interpretation of a classic. Orris and tonka, who'd have said it's such a heavenly combo. I was looking for a classic fragrance and I chose this mostly because my grandma, whom I loved very much, used to wear Chanel No. 19. So I guessed this modernized version could be such a treat for me. It is very wearable. Very grown up, but not mature or even old fashioned. I don't feel like I need to be all dressed up to wear No. 19 Poudré. Still, there is a distinct feeling about it - the feeling of staying on top of things. I can find no better way to describe it than by saying the fragrance just feels queenly. Yes, with No. 19 that's just the word.

Today I finally found the box in which I put a few of my absolute favourite perfume bottles, when we moved to a new appartment, five months ago. I have been longing for them!! And so, I had to try two of them before bed. Two diametrically different fragrances. On my left arm: Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum - and on my right arm: Chanel no 19 Poudre! And now, I am in fragrance heaven... I bought no 19 Poudre as a birthday gift for myself last autumn, after yearning for it since 2011, when it was new, I think. To begin with, I was just a little bit disappointed, because in my memory, I thought it was softer and even more powdery - maybe a little warmer. But now in the hot summer, it really blooms! It has become that dream I had about it.

I smelled this perfume a couple of years ago and it stayed in the back of my mind ever since, so I caved in and brought a bottle. With this, you'd think I would know how to describe it, yet I really don't. It has a sharp, green opening, very vivid like a flashing image, fields of iris for miles, then it becomes more powdery and sweet. It's a nostalgic scent that makes you long for memories you haven't made yet. It's very elegant, but not that kind of scent that demands you to wear heals or dress up, it makes me think of elegant souls, that inner grace that some people posess because they were born with it, and it has nothing to do with the image you give.

A beautiful elegant creation, so masterfully blended. Chanel No 19 Poudre has been an important part of my life, accompanying me through the years in everyday moments, decisive moments, and a very special mention to being the scent of my wedding day (even if it was because I accidentally sprayed this one on me by inertia instead of my intended wedding day perfume, lol). On myself it is a powdery green scent featuring iris and galbanum. It is sweet but in a dry champagne kind of manner. It envelops me in a gauzy air and makes me feel put together and beautiful.

This fragrance is one of the softest and greenest fragrances I have encountered. What is nice about it is while the name includes powder it is not terribly powdery. It is very soft and gentle and not at all overpowering. It is made for women, however, I have worn it for about five years, and receive more compliments on this fragrance than any other fragrance that I have. Men should not be afraid to wear it as it sits very well on their skin. Because it is a soft fragrance heavy sprays are not a bad thing. It will not be overpowering at all.

No.19 and No.19 Poudré are both beautiful on their own, but for me the real magic happens when I wear them together. The green, distant, and characterful structure of No.19 is softened and balanced beautifully by the gentle powdery side of No.19 Poudré. The result is a fragrance that is neither too sharp nor too powdery, but incredibly elegant, seamless, and refined. On my skin it feels very graceful; it does not speak loudly, yet it never goes unnoticed. When I layer them, they feel less like a perfume and more like a state of mind.

I'm afraid 100mls is a size too big for this perfume, theres no nuance for it to be so. Got extremely bored of it after 30mls in and gave it to my progenitress. Sticking to vintage 19 edt for earthy green-ness thank you very much edit nov. 6th 2024: I repurchased this one lmao, why yes i'm stupid. I found myself coveting this fragrance out of nowhere, the musk + Green powder did It for me. I found some similar notes on Chance Fraiche drydown that immediately took me back to the initial sprays of 19 poudre. goddamn you Chanel!

Sneaky No 19 Poudre, making me think it's faded out, and then I get a waft of it like it's an actual powder lifting off my skin in a sheer cloud. Chanel does powdery so well. I didn't warm up to the original No 19, but Poudre... This is exquisite, a veil of iris powder. This has sillage, but it is subtle, maybe too subtle. If you're like me, you're going to have to spray it on like you can afford it. But hey, how else are we going to empty a bottle? If iris scented cosmetic powder is your idea of heaven, try No 19 Poudre.

@ION, you might have developed anosmia to this scent, I also had it in the past, I used to feel the openings and then an hour or so, after that - nada. However, I came back to this perfume after a couple of years and suddenly discovered that it's very strong, just one spray is enough and lasts for around 6 hours at least. Now I remember how I sprayed like crazy a couple of years ago because I did not feel the scent, and people around me were suffocated ;) It's really strong

God this is gorgeous. The powder is silky, not cloying or heavy. Iris in this composition is warm and smooth, accented by the cool earthiness of vetiver and a green snap of galbanum. There's a touch of white flowers in there, but the focus remains on the iris. No 19 Poudre wears like a sheer, watercolor silk scarf, gauzy and floating. It doesn't last as long as I would like, but it's so lovely that I don't really mind. I'm so glad I gave the whole N.19 line a chance.

Chanel No 19 Poudre by Chanel smells of bitter green galbanum, dusty-cold iris, and woody vetiver. I imagine very pristine women and vintage Hollywood starlets in black and white movies with their perfectly tailored high fashion clothes. Not a hair out of place, flawless red lipstick, and she exudes the opulence of a diamond. The jasmine and neroli poke through in the dry down making this smell like the most divine ivory soap. No 19 is pure class all the way!

This is a masterpiece, pure and simple. It is worthy of any fragrance collection and I have bought multiple bottles of it through the years - for myself and as gifts. It is perfectly-blended, classy, versatile, and as close to perfume perfection as any fragrance I have encountered. The scent break -down is detailed well by Fragrantica and I won't go into this in detail, only to say that it is the most exquisite green-iris-powder fragrance in my collection.

One does not scream if whispers suffice, and this is a beautiful example of that. What a beautiful, soft, dewy iris scent. It isn't too sweet, but is beautiful powdery. Very classy. On me, this is quite linear, but I like that. This is definitely one I am considering to invest in for the spring, however the significant price tag on this is holding me back a little. Luckily there are some more sprays left in my sample, so I do not have to decide just yet.

Question - I just ordered this for my birthday. Just how similar IS it to Prada Infusion d'Iris? IdI seems to be the reference perfume by which almost all modern irises are compared. I have it and I love it (have the Absolu as well), but I don't want to spend the money on something that is nearly identical to what I already have. For that matter, I also own plain old No. 19 EDP! Would love to hear some opinions, so please PM me if you have one!

Oh this is a lovely nostalgic fragrance! Green and powdery with a vintage tone. It doesn’t remind me of a particular person but of a time period. Very light, but easy elegance for a warm day. Update: sadly this fragrance has the worst performance of any in my collection. Even after generous spraying, within an hour it is barely a skin scent. Very disappointing, especially for the price. And now I’ve completely fallen in love with it! Gah!

Sigh. I love this so much that I can absolutely see it becoming my signature scent - if it wasn't for the dismal longevity and lack of projection. I've tried adding it to unscented lotion, treating it like a body spray - you name it. Nothing really helps make it more than the most intimate of skin scents. But Chanel has me with this one. I will continue to purchase it as long as it is made, simply to enjoy it's fleeting beauty on my own.
