Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere (2015)

There seemed to have been some controversy/debate/questions round the internets over whether this 2015 version is the same juice in a new bottle or something altogether different. I have been fortunate in obtaining a sample of the new version* and I have a small decant of the older version, so I decided to do a side by side comparison today. *My sample comes from the new shaped bottles now available but does not have the hashtags on the box that have been mentioned in some articles. The box was plain white with a black outline and reminds me of the boxes for the exclusives although it opens at the top like a normal box. The decant comes from an older bottle, the taller thinner one, exact age/batch unknown. I sprayed the older version onto my left wrist, 2 small sprays and (having transferred the dab vial into a small spray vial) sprayed the newer version on the same place on my right wrist, again 2 small sprays. They were applied within 20 seconds of each other, onto freshly showered skin to which no other products had been applied. To me, the scent is the same at the opening. I am struggling to discern any differences to be honest. Maybe the older version is slightly crisper and the new version ever so slightly softer, but that equally could be to do with age and the older sample being, well, older. In the heart, again, there seems to be very little difference - I am searching for differences rather than anything jumping out at me. Possibly the ylang is slightly more dominant in the new version. I think the newer one is projecting slightly more but it is hard to say. [Later]. Ok this could possibly be due to batch variation or related to the age of the older decant, but the newer scent is definitely projecting more and the aldehydes have remained slightly crisper while the scent itself, despite projecting better feels somehow softer in the newer version. I am definitely getting more ylang from the newer one. And the vanilla is slightly more prominent in the new one currently. I will try to come back later and update this review as I move into the drydown so that I can comment on longevity and any differences later on. To me this seems - at the moment anyway - to be the same fragrance. The slight variations I have noticed could be due to age of the juice or batch differences. I don't think (at this point anyway) that I would have known this was 2 allegedly different scents had I not applied them myself. The only real things i can notice as being different are ever so slightly more prominent ylang and vanilla in the newer one, which make it feel slightly more rounded and soft, and the newer one is projecting a little better. This reminds me of Guerlain Liu more than it does of the "standard" no5, of which I have decant of the edp. Either way this a truly beautiful scent and perfect for warm to hot summer days. ETA - I have carried out my experiment twice now and my findings are thus: The scent of both the older version and the 2015 version are extremely similar. If I had owned the previous bottle and finished it then replaced it with this afterwards I honestly doubt I would have noted any real differences. There are slight variations but these could be purely due to batch variance as they did not alter the character or nature of the scent, in my opinion. To me this is essentially the same juice in a different bottle. The differences I did note, both times testing were: The aldehydes in the older sample were perhaps slightly crisper through the opening and heart of the fragrance and slightly softer in the new version. In the heart and early drydown the ylang and the vanilla were a little more prominent in the new version which gave a slightly softer, rounder and creamier feel to it while the older one retained a crisper feel. But I must stress, these were not massive differences to me. The biggest difference between the two versions was that (barring the first 30 minutes) the newer version had better projection which became more pronounced the further we went into the drydown. By bedtime the older one had become a skin scent, detectable only with nose pressed to wrist, while the newer one was still projecting, albeit softly. The following morning, I could still smell a hint of the new version on my skin while the old had left some time in the night. I hope this comparison will be useful to people deliberating over this new version.

[850] Perfume is one of my favourite things, and as a result I have an extensive perfume collection and love perfumes from every scent family. I change up what I'm wearing so frequently that I long have given up on finding a signature scent. However, the closest I'll ever come to a signature scent is this flanker for the classic that is Chanel No. 5 - an icon in the truest sense of the word. I used to spray this in department stores as a teenager, initially falling in love with its 2007 predecessor. Although I have a small bottle of the 2007 Eau Première, it remains sealed so I can't do a proper comparison. My mom's signature scent is No. 5 EDP, and while I adore it, I wouldn't wear it, as it is hers. Instead, EP is the best version of No. 5 for me. It is a wonderful modern update of a classic - lighter, smoother and creamier while retaining the DNA of the original. It is unavailable here in Ireland, so I pick this up at the duty free when travelling. No. 5 L'Eau is advertised as the modern, youthful version of No. 5, but I find it to be inferior to EP - its performance is somewhat lacking and it is less refined and well-rounded. EP opens with the famous bright aldehydes that Chanel is known for. It sparkles like champagne initially, before settling to settling to a smooth soapiness, like the finest milled French soap. The smooth, clean florals follow, with neroli emerging initially, adding green-tinged orange brightness. As it progresses, ylang ylang comes to the fore, smooth and sweet, the dominant note of the opening. The peach of the original is noticeably absent, but the aforementioned tropical florals add fruitiness to the opening. Beautifully balanced, smooth and bright, they pave the way to the powdery floral heart that forms the crux of the No. 5 DNA. Clean, powdery jasmine follows, alongside powdery rose and soft iris. This accord is quintessentially Chanel - utterly elegant and vintage in style - the heart of No. 5. The bouquet is smooth, powdery and clean; still soap-like but lush and well-rounded. It is lighter and airier than No. 5 proper, more youthful and modern. Dry vanilla creeps in as it dries down, complementing the florals to perfection with soft sweetness. Soft sandalwood grounds things here, and vetiver adds a hint of dry grassiness as it fades. It remains clean and powdery until final fade - there is no muskiness in this iteration of No. 5. The chypre base of the original is also missing, making for a simpler, more straightforward but no-less-beautiful drydown (and I am a big fan of chypres). Here, the florals shine until the very end, when it fades to a powdery vanilla skin scent. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting (the performance here is thankfully much better than Chanel No. 19 or No. 5 L'Eau). A timeless, ageless feminine scent that is utterly elegant and easy to wear, EP pays homage to the original but has its own identity. Naturally, being a Chanel perfume, it is made with high-quality ingredients. Hugely versatile, it is a rare year-round scent. Smooth yet sparkling, rich yet airy, clean yet sweet, it is a perfectly balanced beauty that suits modern tastes while paying homage to a vintage icon. Utterly beautiful, this is a personal favourite. 5/5.

Champagne wishes and caviar dreams! Of all the Chanel No5 concentrations (I love them all) and flankers, Eau Premiere is my very favorite! Only recently did I discover Eau Premiere, as it seemed redundant to add to my already extensive No5 collection... how wrong I was! The fizzy burst of aldehydes mingles with an impressionistic bouquet of Chanel No5 notes modified to create softer, warm, intoxicating bubbles that immediately lure me into the relaxed and giddy state only otherwise achieved after a third glass of champagne. I envision the scene with Daisy Buchanan and Jordan Baker from the 1974 movie rendition of The Great Gatsby, lounging in the sunroom of Daisy’s East Egg mansion in the middle of a sweltering summer day. It is the Roaring 20s and air conditioning has not yet been invented, so the ladies decide to wile away their boredom and cool themselves by sipping champagne until thoroughly exhausted from the decadent frivolity... Lulled into dozing the day away on a pair of white damask sofas with plush white carpet afoot, a sparkling crystal chandelier overhead, abounding bouquets of fragrant white roses, and sheer white curtains swaying lazily in the breeze to reveal the lush green grounds outside. Jordan, a magnetic brunette beauty, wears a tailored, white silk long jacket and gown. She also happens to be a professional golfer, the perfect embodiment of Gabriel Chanel’s chic, trailblazing, modern woman... one who would wear original Chanel No5. I LOVE this fragrance... it is so classy, sophisticated and understated and something that can be worn during practically all occassions in the day during both the spring and fall. The aldehydes are much more toned down in Chanel N°5 Eau Premiére than in the original Chanel N°5 perfume and this fragrance smells a lot more youthful to me. I also like how there is no dirty smelling oakmoss in the base unlike in the original N°5 and how this particular flanker is much stronger on both the yellow and white florals and isn't as woody as the first fragrance in this line of Chanel perfumes. Everything in this fragrance is perfectly balanced and incredibly feminine smelling, making me think of a classy young woman who is sophisticated, worldly and old money without being stuffy or snobby. It has a certain sparkling quality to it and I'm only getting the soapy quality from aldehydes and not the dirty and oily nuances that aldehydes sometimes unfortunately have. I like how Chanel N°5 Prémiere isn't as citrusy smelling as Chanel N°5 L'eau, has a smaller dosage of aldehydes than N°5 L'eau and lasts longer than that particular flanker too. Less powdery and a bit sweeter too. I got 5 and a half hours from this perfume on my skin and its sillage was the perfect moderate dosage. It's strong enough to smell but not so strong that it would make one's stomach churn or become overwhelmed. For all of the above, I'd give Chanel N°5 Prémiere an excellent 8.3/10 and a thumbs up... definitely by far the best N°5 perfume in my opinion and what Chanel N°5 should have smelled like!

I LOVE this scent! It’s my wear anytime, anywhere, scent. It fits into whatever you are doing. Work? It is beautiful, fresh and clean. Casual? Goes beautifully with jeans and white t shirt. Dressy? Also goes beautifully for even special occasions with its slightly powdery dry down. You can dress it up or down. However you choose, for whatever your mood. I love its versatility. If I was going somewhere and had to choose only one scent, it would be this one. Starts off fresh and citrus-y, nothing too sharp, with clean aldehydes, nothing too harsh, gentle florals, nothing too allergy-inducing, with sandalwood and vanilla dry down, nothing too sweet or powdery. Just a well balanced scent to be enjoyed by everyone. This scent is calming and soothing while also helping me stay focused. It is very classy, yet other people love the scent as well and will linger for a longer time hugging me. I sometimes hear them sigh contently. Beauty is others feeling comfortable around you, and this feels comfortable while being classy, fresh, and clean at the same time. Beautiful signature scent that you and others can enjoy. I can’t imagine anyone being offended by this. Edit to add: Callista25 wrote something in her review above that basically said that this is what the EDP should have been. I totally agree. That is why I own the parfum and Eau Première.

This is one of the prettiest perfumes I have ever smelled. Chanel has become my favorite pefume house. I also have No 5 in the EDP & EDT. Eau Premiere is as described. It is a beautiful airier interpretation of No 5. It is creamier and less indolic than the OG. The aldehydes are present but not nearly as assertive as in No 5 EDP & EDT. Eau Premier is a beautiful springtime fragrance. I'm captivated by the expression of timelessness captured within the blend of the finest florals and citrusy aldehydes. It is a perfume that defies boundaries. I start to pick up on the vanilla and sandalwood after about two hours of wear. I apply in the morning first thing and then reapply lightly after lunch for a saturated effect. I do think No 5 and No 22 can be offputting to newbies. I didn't know what to make of them when I first started wearing them a couple of years ago. I initially liked No 5 but not as a daily perfume. My nose is still working on unpacking No 22. My daughter does not like any of the Chanels that feature aldehydes. Her perfume of choice is Baccarat Rouge 540 extrait. She gave me a bottle of it for Christmas a couple of years ago. I really like it also. If you look at my profile though you will see I keep coming back to Chanel. I guess they've got my number.

(Reviewing a 2015 batch) I know pretty much everyone else has said what I have to say but if you're not a fan of No. 5, because it doesn't hold well on you, you don't like the antiquated feel, or you're just generally opposed to it, try this pleeassee. This is what a modern day princess would smell like, in my opinion. It smells like expensive milled French soap, champagne and macarons for breakfast, linen day dresses, French tips and daddy's money (not in a Cher Horowitz way, though). If the OG is a high-class woman in a fat mink coat and overlined red lips, this is her daughter who studies abroad and somehow rocks the fugly school uniform, yet she's not a spoiled brat. She's the type of girl to be the only person actually listening to you when you're speaking, give you genuine compliments, study with you when you're falling behind, and remember to get you your favorite flowers on your birthday. It just radiates this kind, angelic magic. So beautiful and fairly long-lasting. Sillage is strong when first applied but settles into a skin scent you can feel with a hug. Perfect for a warm, not hot but warm, sunny day. Or a rainy day, when you don't have the sun to cheer you up but instead you have this charming scent radiating from your skin.

Wow, I really like this interpretation of #5. If my original bottle of #5 smelled like this one, I would have kept it. This is softer, gentler. More of a gentle powder puff of clean and not the astringent antiseptic harshness of the original. Or the toilet bowl cleaner smell of L'eau. Softened Chanel classic aldehyde, a sweet almost mandarin orange like neroli to start and as the perfume develops it becomes an ylang powder puff dream w/ a soft vanilla. This has a clean musk finish w/ sandalwood that I really, really like. Just upgraded this to a love and it will go on my want shelf. I personally think this is more complex than Dames Vanilla Farfalle, which I happen to like very much, but I decided I didn't need it because I have lots of very powdery perfumes in my collection. This #5 is different. It is powdery, but not overly so and there is a creamy texture here as well, w/ a brightness that can translate well into the hotter months. This is a year-round perfume worn by a woman of good taste, style and refinement. If you want a # 5 but find the original too much and the L'eau to be too bright and kind of a citrus toilet bowl cleaner smell this is the #5 for you. It is the #5 for me. This is a brilliant Chanel. The Goldilocks of #5's.

The perfect fragrance to wear to bed and after a nice shower! Very soft, clean, fizzy/bubbly, floral, and slightly woody. If this scent could be a color, it would be white or silver as it’s very cold It has the same delicate nature of the pure parfum and aldehydes are used in a similar way to brighten the florals and make bubbles. Still very abstract like the original but the jasmine and wood stands out the most to me in the beginning but settles into a nice bright, fizzy floral with hints of vanilla. This is how you do a proper flanker of a true classic. Taking the original and taking things away and adding something else while maintaining the identity of its predecessor but also creating a personality and character of it’s own. Very pretty It lasts quite a while on me, Chanel fragrances tend to last a good amount on me. I get about 6-8 solid hours! Projection seems ok but idk how well others can smell it but I mainly wear perfume for my own enjoyment Overall this is beautiful and I think it could surprise some people as it is very different from the well known EDP but this is honestly more of a flanker of the pure parfum than a flanker of the EDP in my opinion as they share more qualities

Again, still that finely-milled slightly floral soap wrapped in a wax paper vibe with the rest of the No. 5s, but this one is a little creamier, a little less waxy, and slightly more "round". The EDP feels ever so slightly more "angular", while this one feels a little better blended on my skin. I love this. Very addictive. Bought this in 2023. I sprayed it on before going to bed and woke with the most GORGEOUS slightly soapy, creamy, skin scent of florals the next day. Would be perfect if the longevity and projection were better, but what can I say. Still my favourite. - Compared with the other No. 5 range: No. 5 EDP: 7/10. Pleasant and strangely addictive, but still a little heavy and too waxy for my taste. No. 5 Eau Premiere: 9.5/10. Creamy version of the EDP, very strong resemblance with an obvious Chanel DNA (heavy aldehydes). No. 5 L'eau: 9/10. Very similar to Eau Premiere. But instead of the creaminess, I get more citrus in the opening. A slightly fresher (not masculine by any means), "brighter" iteration. Better for hot days. But still gorrrrgeous. I've heard comments about the L'eau being the weakest, but to be honest, they're all pretty weak to me.

Eau Premiere 2022 formulation. Aldehydes and a strong ylang presence open Premiere. So much ylang I briefly thought of Samsaras ylang moments. The aldehydes are pretty much present until the drydown. I kept thinking as it was developing it needed peach. Peach is present in the edp to smooth down the aldehyde. Instead you get a rather sharp aldehydic opening because modern noses think peach is rather passe.. Its a powdery, fluffier 5. I compared it to the current edp and when it went into the powdery vanillic drydown, I feel that is its best moment. The sandalwood helps this tremendously. Sillage and longevity is average. This could be a Chanel daily driver. I personally think L'eau is the best updated 5 for the times. Premiere is for 25-35 yr not ready to embrace Mrs. 5. A 5 with training wheels. This is well done with the typical Chanel dna but something diddnt quite sit right with me. Maybe I need to wear it more, or in the 8 yrs since its been out, other fragrances like it are more interesting like Dame Vanille Farfellue, Patou Joy Forever edt. It tows the Chanel 5 line very well. Edit: Lasts on fabrics forever

My mother wears the classic Chanel No. 5. Years ago, when I was still young (around 25), I didn’t like this fragrance. Over time, however, I grew to love it, and now I associate it with my mother. Some people say it’s a perfume for older women. No, it isn’t. It’s simply the highest level of perfumery. You have to grow into this fragrance. You need to train your nose to truly understand and appreciate it. I’ve already reached that point. Even so, I don’t feel quite mature enough to wear the original version myself, which is why I chose the Chanel No. 5 Eau Première edition—and I couldn’t have made a better choice. The veil of aldehydes blends beautifully with my skin. It is the scent of a luxurious, elegant, and clean woman. My husband said that I don’t smell as if I’m wearing perfume; rather, it smells as though it’s simply my natural scent. That’s exactly how I feel when I wear it. I feel at home in this fragrance. I love perfumes, but this one is something more, and I think it always will be. And when it no longer feels like enough, I’ll get the original No. 5.

I love this. I used to work in an office in a town centre, and every lunch time I would go to Boots and put some of this on from a tester bottle for about a month, and then I finally bit the bullet and bought a full bottle when a family member was travelling from duty free, and I'm so glad that I did. It's a modern interpretation of No5. I think it's wonderful that they have managed to capture everything that is special about the original No5 and modernise it for a younger audience without losing what makes No5 so special and classic. It's extremely clean, crisp aldehydes, lightly floral on a beautiful musky sandalwood base. It's lighter and brighter than the original No5. It's perfection and I love it, I don't wear it too often as I feel like I need to dress up a bit to do the fragrance justice. I like to wear this with crisp cotton shirts and jeans or linen/cotton dresses in spring time. Like a lot of Chanel fragrances, I think the fragrance is timeless and suits any occasion or season, and I find it lasts 6+ hours with a moderate sillage.

I’ve reviewed this before and I still feel the same way. THIS should have been the “eau de parfum” version to the OG parfum that was released in 1921 instead of the eau de parfum version that was released in 1986. People mistake the eau de parfum version from 1986 as being the OG, but it’s not really. The 1921 parfum version is beautiful and this compliments it beautifully as the most suitable eau de parfum. I suppose in 1986, everything was so BIG and over the top, that it was the reason that release was so brash. That is exactly how it was on me, brash, it was that way then and how it still is now. I wore this version for my son’s wedding recently and got so many compliments from people who lingered longer hugging me. I heard them sigh as if feeling comforted, relaxed, and content. This is exactly how I want people to feel around me so I want my scent to be that way too. This works beautifully with my skin that it’s my signature evening/formal scent but really, I love wearing this anytime, anywhere, for any occasion. It’s great year round.

I've become obsessed lately with Chanel perfumes, I find them so classy and smooth and high quality and surprisingly despite all the negative reviews they last quite a long time on me. I do not think that Eau premier smells like L'eau. I have them both and love them both but they are two completely different perfumes in my opinion. L'eau is a lot lighter, airy sparkly and crisp, like spring air and sunshine with a warm base. Eau premier is thick Rich buttery ylang ylang. It opens with the sparkly aldehydes and some Neroli and quickly transforms into a thick ylang oil. I have pure ylang ylang oil and This smell identical. After wearing it a few times for some reason I was able to smell past the aldehydes. It dries down to be powdery warm, slightly soapy ,with the ylang ylang still apparent. I put eau premier and L'eau side by side. Sprayed on each hand and the difference is big. I love how this smells with my skin chemistry it's really beautiful. It leaves a beautiful scent Trail and when people come in for a hug it's warm and inviting.

The epitome of powdery fragrances in my book, smells like old money and luxury. Definitely makes me think of the 30s and 40s for some reason. It smells old, in a way, reminds me of old books mixed with natural resin, but it's a scent I love too much. It also lasts SO LONG on the skin and even more on clothes, i can say with confidence the smell doesnt fade away with ease. If I die I better smell like this. I can understand why it's such a controversial fragrance overall, however nobody can deny it's popularity. I usually wore this perfume when I had places to be(or when i knew an improtant person was going to be around me)but sometimes I would spray it whenever I would meet up with friends aswell. I think it thrives more in the autumn because it has that classy, elegance vibe mixed with a little bit of "coldness". I'm forever going to be devoted to this perfume and I'm hoping to buy a bigger bottle soon, and I'll keep repurchasing it forever. I can now understand why my friend says Chanel co5 has a cult following lol

Time and time again I return to you for you always remind me of what a fragrance should be which is timeless and transcendent. I have written a review for you before and I just want to remind myself why I keep you as one of my signature fragrance. Eau Premiere reflects me and is like my second skin. The clean aldehydes opens the fragrance and once it settles on my skin the neroli presents herself. Green and fresh. The heart of the Eau Premiere is a chorus of jasmine and rose with powdery sandalwood. My skin perfectly amplifies the floral and sandalwood notes while the demure vanilla takes the backstage. Eau Premiere for me is transcendent because it is a fragrance masterpiece. It takes a classic and evolves it giving it a new 'phase'. It is transcendent because I think it crosses age, gender, race and time. I personally think this can be worn by anyone at any time and perfect for layering. Not a lot of fragrances will be like Eau Premiere- one of the few fragrance masterpiece.

Everyone else has said everything that needs to be said about this one, but it’s my favourite No 5 with the EDT coming a close second. I love No 5 but the EDP still feels a little too mature for me at the moment. I smelt this in a store back when it was first launched and fell in love. It’s so airy and clean and wearable for all occasions, unbelievably classy. It just feels so effortless. Every time I wear it wonder why I wear anything else, it’s perfection, so beautiful. Could easily be my signature, it really does feel like a second skin. Always gets me lots of compliments as well, particularly from colleagues so it is very much office appropriate. Might a teensy bit too strong in high heat but I tend to wear colognes, body sprays or more beachy smelling perfumes in the height of summer anyway. I wish this still came in the tall bottle it was launched it, I loved that. Longevity and sillage are perfect for me, it’s well worth the money.

Just received my blind buy bottle of this on the back of liking no 5 L’Eau. Wow! I love it! Smells like how I wanted the original no 5 to smell like. The original for me is very dry, overpowering and dirty smelling, leaving me craving sweetness. This is creamy and powdery without too much of a soapy smell. I get lipstick and a powder compact kind of smell. It’s very elegant and very Chanel. The opening isn’t toooo aldehydic, although it’s very bubbly, it progresses into this very clean, powdery lipstick, sweet vanilla note. It makes me smile and stand tall and feel sophisticated. I feel like I have been on a journey, like when you first start trying wine, starting on the sweet “Blue Nun” kind and gradually appreciating the complexities of dryer finer wines. I started with l’eau and have now moved on to eau premier..... who knows eventually I might even grow to love the original no 5. After all it’s such an icon. I love all things Chanel!

Smells like vanilla baby powder, but in the best way. Also reminds me of the smarties candy in the very beginning, with ample amounts of luscious vanilla. This is stronger than the modern original and lasts longer in my experience. Also smells better than the original, more vanilla and doesn't smell dated (not that i mind dated smells!). I also think i detect ylang ylang as the most prominent floral note. At first, i thought this was a little boring, but after reading your reviews and the imagery you all provided, I can now experience the same thing and now i can't stop smelling this addictive vanilla fragrance. It's so comforting and beautiful, you can't go wrong with it. I only wish it had more strength and sillage, otherwise it's perfect. But honestly the more intimate projection goes well with the skinlike scent of this. Definitely a my skin but better scent for sure!

I bought Chanel no 5 Eau Premier when it was released, and wore it almost every day back then. During the years my collection of perfumes has grown and I haven't reached for this for some time know. This evening I suddenly longed for it, I think it had to do both with the weather (chilly and dark February in southern Sweden) and my mood (tired and weary). Chanel no 5 Eau Premier instantly lifted my mood. At first the aldehydes that shine so well in cold weather, later promises of the upcoming spring brought about by the jasmine and roses, and last memories of warm summer afternoons evoked by the sandalwood and vetiver. I haven't reached the deep vanillic and beeswaxy drydown yet, but I know it will be there, and that is comforting. While Chanel no 5 unfolds best in summertime, Eau Premiere sparkles best in winter. They both make everyday life feel like luxury.

I have worn this for years and always come back to it. It has a permanent place in my collection. It is so beautiful I am not sure how to review it! It is a much more accessible, creamy version of No 5 that will suit all ages and lifestyles. No 5 takes more effort to wear (I am under 30 and still see it as a perfume you grow into) whereas you can wear this as much as you like. There are the same fizzy aldehydes and the soapy cottony flowers, but they are rounded out by a much softer base of vanilla. It smells fresh, elegant, clean and warm. I don't find longevity great with this - probably only a few hours on skin, but it remains for days on clothes. Often I will open my wardrobe and smell it, which makes me crumble every time. That is how I know I love it. I find a place for both L'eau and this in my collection and they both sit happily in my Top 5.

Wow!!! Words can't describe how much I love it! Very soft and gentle and feminine. Perfect for work as it would never offend and have a professional edge. Also suitable for date night. I was never a fan of aldehydes before but the gentler versions of Chanel no. 5 like L'Eau and Premiere transformed me as they don't have the "old rich lady" vibe and just give the vibe of an elegant well composed and feminine lady who has her act together. Love it and it leaves a good impression. With that said, longevity and silage are an issue (same with L'Eau too). After a couple of hours they just become skin level and you have to dig your nose in your clothes (where I sprayed) to notice it! so yeah not a good return on investment for how very expensive it is but for how dreamy it smells and makes me feel I am willing to overspray and do touch ups as the day goes.

Current No. 5 Eau Premiere is to me, the true edp of no. 5 parfum, more that no. 5 edp is. Eau Premiere is truer to the emphasis of aldehydic floral abstraction, while no. 5 edp has more of a woody/polysantonol vibe (which is why I think some feel it smells dated). The aldehydic opening of Eau Premiere is more citrus than soapy giving more of a champagne effect. The florals are beautiful but subdued. The drydown is heavy on vanilla/clean musk. This perfume really shines in warm weather, but can be worn year round. Non offensive but interesting enough for me to enjoy wearing. It is less feminine than the parfum or the edp. No. 5 parfum is still my favorite version, preferred for cooler weather. Eau Premiere is second, when I want something more refreshing. Then the body products. I originally dismissed L'Eau but it is growing on me as a gym scent.

I own quite a few incarnations of No 5, and I do believe this is my favorite. It’s easy to wear, both elegant and casual. I often feel like my taste in fragrance leads me into full bottle commitments with personalities much louder than mine. That’s No 5 EDP. Or vintage. Or EDT. Eau Premiere is so soft and comforting while performing better than many other Chanel scents. It’s happy memories of bathing my children in warm soapy bath tubs, wrapped in fluffy towels and their little arms and legs massaged with baby lotion. That being said, there is an underlying appeal to Eau Premiere that my husband would describe as sexy... I am attributing that to it’s No 5 DNA. I tend to take a break from it in spring and summer when I sort of go off of fragrance of any kind, but then I remember it’s lovely comfort and I’m right back where I belong.

I bought this mainly for the nostalgia it brings up, but I've been surprised how much I actually wear it. This scent is so calming. It is delicious, but also completely satisfying. I find the original no 5 a bit scary, with all its animalic and heavy notes and in all its powdery glory. It's a perfume I appreciate and have loved on others all my life, but that I just don't feel I can pull off! This, however, has everything I love and nothing I'm scared of in no 5. The L'Eau version is too citrusy for my tastes—in becoming fresher than the original, it loses some of the original's warmth and comfort. Here, none of that warmth is missing. This is pure comfort. This is the smell you have smelled all your life on the women who raised you and taught you and passed you on the street. It's just been made more approachable.

🤍 Sweeter, softer, cozier and not so soapy version of OG edp. 🤍 Very versatile and easy to wear, I have always a bottle with me. 🤍 Not so crispy, cold and light than L’Eau - there are no citruses here. 🤍 A longevity is very good and a performance is a lot better than in OG edp - I have never been a big fan of that. Somehow it fades away so quickly. 🤍 Original parfum is still my favorite, I used to mix a very old vintage and quite new one, but it’s more for the special occasions. 🤍 If you haven’t tried this one I can tell that this flanker is a delightful surprise. Love, love, love. The opening is when I notice the obvious nod to the original No. 5. This phase lasts about 45 minutes on my skin. I definitely pick up on the aldehyde-y, super bougie soapy vibe, just like the original. I like the opening, but I LOVE the drydown. In the base what I pick up on most is a beautiful, gentle, and feminine mix of powder and sandalwood. Very soft and quite different from the original, IMO. In the drydown of the original I get a kind of screechy, vintage, unpleasant vibe. The drydown of this one is the total opposite. It is soft, gentle, and timeless. Not dated at all. For some reason powdery fragrances feel very comforting to me, so I love wearing this one to bed, especially if I am feeling anxious...it has a calming effect on me.

This is my signature fragrance. Which is a big statement to make considering my growing perfume collection. But this was the first perfume that I've ever fell in love with. The original No5 is a bit too mature for me. Premiere, however, is ageless. This one reminds me of bubbling champagne and drys down to a creamy powder on my skin. To echo another commenter below, I *adore* wearing this one to bed because I find it to be very comforting/soothing. I also love to spray this on fresh out of the shower due to the "soapiness" quality of it. A song that comes to mind when I wear this one is "Vanity" by Mica Levi from the Jackie film score....timeless, elegant, with a soft touch of glamour. This is class in a bottle, a perfect cross between the original no. 5 and the l'eau which is the lightest end on the spectrum and very clean. Eau premiere has the right amount of sparkliness, powderiness and chanel no. 5 dna, it's incredibly versatile yet perfectly light. Personally I don't know why but I imagine a ballerina dancing alone to classical music, this perfume has that type of effervescence and femininity. Living in nyc and as somebody fairly new to perfume, I would worry about wearing a fragrance that is too popular, but this is one of those scents that evokes something different for everyone and it is unique in its own right, like opening a window into a vintage world where timeless elegance never goes out of style.

Eau Premiere's radiant optimism reminds me of the sun at day's end as it turns the color of liquid gold, the color of the liquid itself. When I first smelled that lemony fizz of aldehydes back in 2007, I was going through a terrible divorce. It was the most painful time of my life. I wore Eau Premiere every day for a year and it never failed to lift my spirits with its warm vanillic bouquet and addictively creamy ylang note. This elegant fragrance helped me feel special during a dark period and its versatility has accompanied me through many experiences since then, both good and bad. It's easy to overlook a perfume you've been in a long term relationship with, but my love for this scent has never wavered and never will.

I'm a huge fan of the EDP version, however when I recently tried the Eau Première for the first time, I immediately fell in love with it! It's become my favourite version of No5 and my signature fragrance. I have tried all iterations of No5, except the original pure Parfum (I do own the Parfum, however I've been saving that little precious bottle for a special occasion). Eau Première is so delicate, soft, creamy... Oh, I could smell it all day long! It's so elegant, suitable for any situation. When I smell it, the colour that comes to my mind is a pale, buttery yellow (maybe because of Ylang-Ylang or Vanilla?). I had to buy the biggest bottle, I don't ever want to be without my Eau Première! <3

Okay; I need to retract my 1st review. This is great! It look me a few wearings to “get it” - but OMG- I do now! This is my 1st aldehidic frag. I use it as a personal shield and armor for work when I’m expecting a sneak attack or giving a tough presentation. I feel strong and courageous. I actually keep it at my desk, since I work from home. (I also find it beautiful, but the psychological part is a bonus.) I didn’t think it would be sexy, but my husband loves it! What?! This is an unexpected love, and a staple in my collection! Word of caution: it projects for about 3 hours. Then it fades wayyyy too quickly. Thats usually a deal breaker for me, but I love it so much, it’s worth it.

I sampled this. And loved. I own various No 5s, meaning current & vintages, Parfum, Eau de Parfume and Toilet splashes. I am a die hard lover of Coco. I chose to add Allure, which I really liked too. But I found that on my vintage spree, one of my No 5 is the tall 2007 version, batch 5015. I really like that one in in the spring and summer. Am thinking I need to resample, come home and compare. I just remember this version being different and warmer. It’s been on my want list for awhile. I remember thinking this would be perfect for layering in different areas with the OG. Thanks for all the reviews everyone because I thought I was going nuts when I found I had the older version.

Much lighter and versatile than the Eau de Parfum. A less aldehydic and ylang-ylang heavy opening that transitions into a smooth and bright floral and a vanilla-strong and vetiver base. On my skin this is aldehydes, ylang-ylang, vanilla, and vetiver. A bit sweeter than the Eau de Parfum. I especially love this version for not only being more of an easy wear, but also for the vetiver. I get very noticeable vetiver from this fragrance, and it adds a gorgeous touch to this flanker. This is my spring and summer N°5 when the heat doesn't agree with the Eau de Parfum. Like the Eau de Parfum, I wish it lasted longer on my skin but reapplying N°5 is a treat in my book.

For so many years I wanted to like, but just never cared for No5, it was too strong and old wood musk smelling on me, (Coco is also). A few years ago I purchased a few of Chanel exclusives; Gardenia, Crystalle and Beige, I like them, they are crisp, bright and pretty. Recently I branched out and took a chance on No5 L’eau and I really like the new softer side of No5. Just last week, based on these reviews I purchased No5 Eau Premiere and I have now found my perfect fragrance! It is clean and sweet, with lovely florals and vanilla, just a simply heavenly scent. Perfect fragrance to wear to anytime of day or season, especially nice to de-stress at night.

This is a nice, easy-to-like version of no. 5. It was my gateway Chanel. Citrus replaces the soapy aldehydic opening, and there is more vanilla and less florals. Eau Premiere is unisex, and can be worn year round. What makes it universally likeable also makes it less distinctive. It is to no. 5 what no. 19 poudre is to no. 19. Sometimes we do have to be non-offensive in our perfume choices. And on those occasions i do like to wear something that still smells good to my nose. Eau premiere fits that standard as does no. 19 poudre. From what Ive read, the previous formulation of Eau Premiere sounds like it was more distinctive.

I used to think that I’d never ever been able to wear such an iconic fragrance yet the day has come! No. 5 is an abstraction, a floral reverie with a prominent sandalwood base. It conveys an overall feeling of sopapiness and powder which is just not anyone’s cup of tea. L’Eau Premier smells less heavy than the EdP/EdT and perhaps it’s the first step to acquire a “no.5 taste”. A must have. P.S. my SO loathes No 5 on his sister (EdP) and can barely stand it on me, anytime we happen to wear this perfume on the same day he thinks it’s a conspiracy lol

Does anyone know if there is a big difference between this version and the one from 2008? I had tried the 2015 version a couple of years ago, and loved it so much... and this christmas I recieved a much anticipated gift - Eau Premiere, but I think it is the 2008 version. It is a tall bottle of 20 ml, with two refills. And I was kind of disappointed, because it is not at all like I remembered. Can my perception at that time have been so wrong, or are the two versions really so different?? Please help me here, if someone knows!

I thought I was a Coco-only lady who disliked No.5, but I was really wrong. This has grown on me. It does smell exactly like No.5, but is not as painfully strong. It is lighter, comforting, and enveloping, and it completely surprises me that I love it. I don't usually enjoy powdery scents and the aldehydes are somewhat like that, but I really enjoy this classy scent. It isn't what I think of as a "sexy" fragrance, but more classy and timeless. I've been wearing it mostly to bed, but intend to wear more in cooler weather.

Hmmm this is interesting. Ylang ylang, patchouli, powdery notes and aldehydes. Very No. 5. Posh, dry, and demanding. You have to be on a real boss mood to wear this one. Rough edges, loud, moderate sillage, but very different from Mademoiselle or Coco Noir lines. There is always something enchanting, uplifting in Chanel fragrances. Each one awakes different moods in me, but I tend to feel more positive when I am wearing them. Good lasting power on my skin (6 h) A fragrance for a sharp woman. (Try before buying)

Brought my 2015 bottle out from my closet today where its been hidden for some years. And I'm amazed how much I love it now. I've always liked it a lot. Last year I took up perfumes again and have been testing a lot of different fragrances. So maybe it's because I've gotten more accustomed to smelling the different notes, that it really strikes me as very beautiful and well composed. I'm normally not into very female leaning perfumes but I do love this ultra feminine one in all it's aldehyde and floral might 🫶🏾

The DNA of Chanel No. 5 is presented in a lighter, more airy, and sunny version. The opening feels warmer, like a gentle summer breeze carrying notes of sun-soaked, ripe citrus. This scent is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. It has that original Chanel No 5 DNA but it's softer, more powdery, a bit lighter, less sharp, and has a modern edge. It also has a faint hint of vanilla that sweetens it up a touch and makes it more wearable and pretty. It's something I think anyone age 25 and up could get away with. No5 is a bit too classy / ladylike for me, but I've really embraced the 2 flankers! The L'Eau has been a spring/summer favourite for the past 2 years and now I've added Premiere for the colder months. I love the timelessness, smoothness and recognizability (Chanel frags always have this particular note making them instantly recognizable as CHANEL), but with a younger and more casual edge. Totally wearable with both jeans and a simple t-shirt or a nice dress and everything in between.

When I first tried this in the winter I was really enjoying the EdP. The powder evokes snow for me and it’s just so cozy and heavenly in cold weather. I wasn’t thrilled with eau premiere then, I got a lot of lemon and barely recognized the No. 5 dna, but I’m so glad I hung onto it! In warm spring weather, I don’t want to smell powder. The lemony note is so pretty and it is undeniably in the 5 family. That “angel skin” feel to it is still there, and that’s exactly what I need!

I've been looking for a good, quality perfume for a very long time. When I smelled Chanel No. 5 EDT I was mesmerized And the saleswoman offered a more contemporary version and gave it to me, just wow! The smell of cleanliness, fresh, sophisticated.. Something I haven't smelled before. I can't explain exactly what it is, but it's completely different. I discovered that you have to spray it a little further away from the body and that way it's perceived better.

Just beautiful 🩷 To my very appreciative nose, this version of N° 5 is creamier, more ...velvety, a tad sweeter, soft and sophisticated powdery and so very feminine and classy. I am enjoying Chanel N° 5 Eau Première wearing my sweater and jeans as well as being "dressed up". P.S. I can still smell this on my wrists 12 hours after application. While not every reviewer here likes Eau Premiere, everyone seems to agree that this flanker is devoid of the indoles and animalics of the original No.5. Yet to my nose this is one of the most musky, animalic perfumes I own! Yes, I have the sparkling aldehydes and the gentle yellow and white florals. But right next to them is a musky, furry animal. I really love it, but I’m surprised I’m alone in seeing that Eau Premiere is dirtier than at first she looks.

Omg how I love this one. After no5 edt it’s my absolute favourite. It’s the kind of scent that when you spray on your arm and smell it you swoon over yourself. The aldehydes! I have no idea whatsoever what they are, but aldehydes I adore you! I’ll name my dog Alde in your honour. No better compliment. Id like to add that I find reviews that relate perfumes to soaps extremely simplistic and lazy. Not even a No5 soap by Chanel smells like a No5 fragrance.
