Coco Noir

“Vous n'auriez pas vu Coco?” Not everyone is going to like Coco Noir. After all she is not what they expected. Coco has a reputation in town for being uber-chic and almost always a perfect thing. But tonight she just wants to have fun. THE OPENING: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Where is the party Coco? It all begins around 10 pm in a cabaret in Pigale .Coco Noir is a party girl ripe and ready for flaming a night on the town from one end of Paris to the other. Don’t let the little black dress fool you or the gold jewelry so artfully placed lead you to think she is above scandal and a little naughty fun. Liquor sweet as cotton candy is passed around the club to girls for rent by men who light their cigars with 10 franc notes. Coco likes to mix it up with the hoi polloi and in so doing she finds herself dancing on the bar and singing her old song to the rough customers down from Montmartre. “You have not seen Coco? Coco in the Trocadero Who has seen Coco? Hey! Coco! Hey! Coco! Who has seen Coco? Hey! Coco!” The crowed is singing along with her, hands grabbing at the hem of her skirt. They are laughing. She is laughing and ready to move on. THE HEART: Rose, Jasmine, Narcissus. It is after midnight when Coco makes her escape in a taxi to the elegant calm of Maxim’s. Her entrance causes a stir among the well dressed upper croissant of Paris. They are ALL talking about her. Some say she is too much, others that she is not enough and a few that she is heading for a fall. Where she is heading is to a private table for a late supper with a certain special Englishman. Here in the posh Maxims Coco Noir relaxes and enjoys the glamour that she infuses into the scene. All eyes are on her cool elegance as she flirts with the Englishman and sips Champagne cool and bubbly. She may laugh a little too loudly but she doesn’t care. DRY DOWN: Sandalwood, Olibanum, Vanilla-Tonka Bean, White Musk, Patchouli. Always the capricious coquette it is now on to the left bank. She and the English man along with a few Coco fans cross the river on foot singing her song, this time not quite so fast or as loud. “Qui qu'a qui qu'a vu Coco? Eh! Coco! Eh! Coco! Qui qu'a qui qu'a vu Coco? Eh! Coco!” Ending up in Le Chat Noir jazz club just off the Boulevard Saint Germain Coco leans lazily into the crook of the Englishman’s arm. Softly, dreamily she hums along to the cool slinky jazz sax. She could stay this way for hours, luxuriating in the lush smoky atmosphere of the end of a perfect night on the town. When the hangers on drift away she smiles up at her Englishman then winks. As they walk arm in arm across the Pont Saint-Michel in the chilly pink dawn Coco Noir rests her head on his shoulder and sings softly to him. “Qui qu'a qui qu'a vu Coco?” The opening of Coco Noir is very bright and fizzy with bergamot and grapefruit. There is the pink fuzzy feel of cotton candy to me in the opening. That passes very fast as the bottom note olibanum snakes up to take its sensuous hold. Then the heart notes rose, jasmine and narcissus come in to play softly and with a stayed elegant enhanced by the grounding geranium and the upwardly moving bottom notes of vanilla and tonka bean. All through this center you get the arrival of the final dry down notes. Fist the sandal wood followed closely by the white musk and patchouli. It has a fine silage and last very long on my skin. Coco Noir is not dark and mysterious as one might expect from the name and the beautiful black bottle. It is all about fun. This is a scent for a night out including anything from the Opera to a nightclub. Aside from the early cotton candy sensation that is only there for 10 minutes it really is not that overtly feminine so I would say it could be worn by both sexes. Coco Noir is the kind of mademoiselle that when you wear her at night, anything could happen. FIVE GOLD STARS ****

I thought Coco Noir might be a bit too patchouli-intensive for me, but after falling in love with the Oil Perfumery dupe version, I bit the bullet and bought a 50-ml bottle. Coco Noir reminds me of a cross between Coco OG and Coco Mademoiselle, with a little bit of an airier, nuttier aspect that makes me think of coconut milk although Coco Noir doesn't smell at all tropical. It definitely has that elusive Chanel DNA, the "rich bitch" profile that gives many women an extra boost of confidence: it smells expensive and luxurious in a way that very few mainstream designer perfumes do these days. Coco Noir is not weird or avant-garde or ostentatiously niche--it's just a beautifully balanced woody amber floral. As much as I love the phrase "nocturnal Baroque," I don't think Coco Noir fits that descriptor; I think OG Coco is closer to my idea of a nocturnal Baroque--it's much more complex and multilayered. Despite its outrageously gorgeous glossy black bottle, Coco Noir is not even especially dark--not if "dark" suggests heavy or deep. I would consider it an elegant but not particularly distinctive perfume--more distinctive than Coco Mademoiselle, perhaps, but only because Coco Mad is so ubiquitous and has spawned so many relatively convincing dupes). At any rate, I think Coco Noir is appropriate for all seasons, all times of the day, as long as you don't overspray. After a few hours of wear, I notice the greenness a lot more, and I appreciate it. The slightly spicy geranium is lovely, too, especially as it combines with the sandalwood and leather notes in the drydown. I get a slight powderiness, too, along with a creaminess, and this quality is probably what keeps the strong patchouli note from seeming too noxious to me. Update: Husband really loves this one. He noticed it right away and asked me what it was; because I had just sprayed it, he noted the citrus top notes approvingly. It doesn't project much after the first couple of hours, but that's fine with me; the longevity is more than acceptable, and I can make it last even longer by layering with the Oil Perfumery dupe, which is excellent.

There are some who feel that Coco Noir is not "noir" enough for the name. If you're coming from the OG Coco, that's a fair reaction. However, if you are coming from Coco Mademoiselle, this is "noir" indeed. The opening of Coco Noir is reminiscent of Mademoiselle, but as the citrus top fades, Coco Noir really stands out. I love the spice and smoke in heart of this one. It's witchy but approachable, sensual but respectable, and serious but not uptight. I'm a fan of Chanel's patchouli and there's a perfect dose of it in Noir. It's dry, woody, and clean as opposed to dank and raw (e.g. Mugler's Angel). I almost never hear or see any talk about the olibanum/frankincense in this, but for me it's the best part! It becomes very present about 30 minutes in, and it's the facet that remains on my skin and clothes long after the rest of the scent has vanished. The incense is why I think Coco Noir is deserving of its name. The longevity for this one is good on clothes, just okay on skin. Layering with the matching body cream boosts performance quite a bit. Projection is where Coco Noir suffers most. There isn't much projection after the first few minutes, and after about an hour it's a skin scent for the remainder of its life. It does project a bit more on clothes, but not much. Coco Noir isn't loud. I don't always mind that as I'm usually in the mood for something inconspicuous these days, but I can see the lack of projection being disappointing for some. When I need it to be louder, I just spray a little more. Coco Noir's biggest strength to me is that it's easy to wear without being ordinary. I recently bought my second bottle. It's a staple in my collection.

I felt that I needed something easy into my collection. Something classy yet comfortable and cozy, something delicate and not so unique. Sometimes I feel so exhausted that I don’t even have power to understand my own mood. If I wear some bold scent with a big character while feeling like that I just get confused. With these two scents I don’t have to think absolutely anything, no weather, neither clothes, not even how I really feel. ❓Do you recognize that mood? CHANEL Coco Noir Jacques Polge and Christopher Sheldrake 2012 Delightful very crowd pleasing mix of flowers in a warm woody base - I don’t find anything so “noir” in this one but there is a gentle breeze of warm spices. The scent is seductive and traditionally feminine. It’s delightful but it doesn’t force me to be in a good mood. I want an extrait of this one as well since it shoud have that “noir” confidence boost in it. Haven’t tried it though. NARCISO RODRIGUEZ Musk Noir Rose Sonia Constant 2022 I fell in love with so many scents from NR while trying to find something inconspicuous, almost imperceptible yet attractive and sensual. I love the powdery clean musky dna in them, they are like a tender hug, I feel like I’m wrapped in an enormous fluffy cashmere blanket escaping this cruel world. Musc Noir Rose has a sweet twist in it from Plum and Vanilla. All of them smells irresistible on cloths. Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful. I wore Coco Noir yesterday (25th of november , 2025) because it was cold and rainy — the perfect weather to pull this one out. The opening hits with this balsamic vibe, slightly citrusy, and a touch of spice. Not the sharp, nose-piercing type, just a smooth, warm kind of spice. As it starts blending with the skin, it turns sweeter... but not sugary sweet. More like a soft, warm sweetness that feels comforting. After about an hour (or even less), the whole scent settles into this warm, earthy, wrap-around-your-body kind of vibe. I get little whiffs of this cozy sweet-warm note that just hugs the skin nicely. Projection-wise, it’s perfect for people who don’t want to announce their arrival from 20 metres away. It gives you this subtle aura instead of filling up the whole room — elegant, classy, very Chanel. I did one spray in the morning on pulse points (neck and arm), topped up in the afternoon on the same spots, and by evening it was still there, softly lingering on my skin. Longevity is really solid. Personally, I’d recommend Coco Noir for evenings or cold/rainy weather. Using it on a hot summer day can get overwhelming — the scent is rich and can give you a headache if the heat amplifies it too much. But for night dates? Perfect. My boyfriend loves it on me. Also, I honestly think this one is unisex. The spicy–citrusy opening plus the rich, warm base makes it work on anyone. That’s my full review of Coco Noir by Chanel — a warm, sensual, elegant scent that shines in cooler weather and nighttime moments.

This is everything I wanted from Coco and Coco Mademoiselle that I didn’t get. I find Mademoiselle a bit cloying, though I like the scent. Coco is fine, but I wanted more. I wanted sexier, darker, and spicier. Coco Noir has some incense vibes done very tastefully and mysteriously. It’s almost difficult to pick up the notes at times and it changes as the day goes on. A few hours in, it has incense vibes and mystery. After hours, it turns more Oriental and dark. Very sexy. At first, I didn’t understand the sex appeal, but hours in, I’m finally getting it. I’ve had it on now for almost 8 hours and still going strong. It does need a few more sprays than Chanel 5 and some others. But once you get the number, it’s long lasting and beautiful. Chanel fragrances typically last for 24 hours for me. I wake up the next morning smelling the hints of the fragrance after spraying 3x. Coco Noir needed 5-6 sprays. I know this because I over-sprayed when I couldn’t smell it after 3 sprays. Granted, I did spray it in a department store, so maybe it was distracted by the other fragrances at the time. I’m very glad I purchased it as it will be my favorite. I have worn Chanel no5 for almost 30 years and this is a strong contender for my favorite. My next try is Chanel no19. Chanel is my favorite house of fragrance, for sure. Nothing intrigues me more than Chanel fragrances. I find them complicated, but not overly fussy or pretentious. They are classic and creative.

Surprisingly unisex(?), I kinda smell something Reminds me of BdC, no animalic tone carried over from CoCo. However’s carried over strong style of Chris into the blends using spicy note (clove to be specific) Bloom very slow and it is patchouli kind of thing with amber support. I like this one. ===== Extension 1 on August 13, 2024. I now own various version of CoCo Noir, the Parfum one. The Older batch (2014 something) and the newer batch one. I would place CoCo Noir as Amber Floral, with strong woody support. As all CoCo fragrance, it is feminine leaning and I see attempts to put the floral upfront. While Wood, Clove and Dry Amber dancing in the background. As the scent creep to further dry-down you notice Patchouli but in this. But it cover himself with the Powdery Amber and Clove. I see CoCo Noir, more like separate release. It is not of CoCo Mademoiselle or CoCo. it do it own thing. I would see this as some re-imagination of Rochas Femme actually. The classic one. Personally, I starts to wonder that fragrance like CoCo Noir just release 10 years ago but the scent seems so age. Clearly, this was inspired by Older fragrance rendition, Might be attempt to leave the evidence of Christopher Sheldrake (Serge Lutens' perfumer) in Chanel line up. I would say this is most mass-appearing from his line up but still complicate and up-class same as Christopher's work.

Dated a guy who I was/am in love with and he pretty much terrorized me emotionally on a daily basis for a few years, I know he loved me but I was never really sure he liked me, he gifted me this perfume on my 29th birthday after a particularly rough summer. I had mentioned once in a store that I loved Chanel Coco Noir but had never spent the money on it. Cut to the night of my birthday while laying in bed watching a movie he gives me this little gift and I unwrap it and find my beloved Coco Noir. I was on the verge of tears that he had paid attention to me enough to buy it for me. This perfume smells to me like a tender moment with someone who you adore but is typically very hard on you. It’s warm and inviting but not in a cuddly way, in a way that says you can come in, but you cannot stay the night. My experience with my ex boyfriend kind of tainted this perfume for me but didn’t take away my love for it, I look at it now the way I looked at him...as beautiful, and enticing, but unattainable and kind of cold but still warm, like a campfire inside an igloo. When I wear this it lasts decades. I get so many compliments as well. I don’t smell citrus in this like everyone else, but I do get hints of beautiful rose, clove and benzoin. My feelings for Coco Noir are much the same as my feelings for that boyfriend, I’ll never get over them, and that’s fine with me.

This is my ultimate favourite fragrance. If it suited summer, I'd wear it all summer. I could sit for hours huffing this fragrance. Not everyone likes it, but that's ok because I LOVE IT!!! It smells like me. It lasts for days on my clothes; I can still smell it on my clothes until I wash them. I douse myself in this. I adore the scent. I used to wear Jo Malone's Bronze Wood and Leather as my go-to, until it got discontinued. I'm saving what's left of my bottle, so now I've replaced it with Coco Noir. In true Sheldrake fashion, this is Coco Mademoiselle's darker, sultrier sister. (Ironically enough, my sister's go-to is Coco Mademoiselle. Is that not just serendipitous? We've always been told we're like night and day.) Picture a jazz lounge, dark and smokey, music playing in the background. Women in satin slip dresses stretch like cats on the red velvet sofa, smoking their cigarettes from their long cigarette holders. This is the women's show — the men entertain themselves somewhere in the background. Pearl necklaces, expensive bourbon served on the rocks, huge monsteras frame the scene, a yellow moon illuminates the sky. If this scent were a song, it would be "Your Heart Is As Black As Night". Apologies if this is ridiculously long-winded, but this scent makes me wax lyrical.

Coco Noir, the darker sister of Mademoiselle? Nah. They don’t even sit in the same lighting, let alone at the same table. Mademoiselle is a sparkle-in-the-sun citrus-chypre cocktail; Coco Noir is velvet-painted wood, polished and poured into shadow. They share DNA, sure: clean aldehydes, that luminous Chanel signature, but. One wears pearls in daylight, the other wears them to bed. She starts w lemon rind and grapefruit oil, rubbed fast between fingers, fizzing with something like a cool, petitgrain, but also not quite. Maybe it's the patchouli, and wow is it refined. Filtered. Clean, but not sterile. There’s a mild herbal lift, a green-tinged rose facet peeking through that blooms later. And behold, she does it in a black silk slip. Dewless. No thorns. It’s floral, but not girlish—romantic, not naïve. The clean patch is smoother now. Warm. Almost suede-like. Less bitter, more rounded. I normally can’t do “dark” flankers. They either bite with black or blur into monotones. But this—this I couldn’t stop sniffing. It’s sultry, yes. But never overwhelming. Timeless, but never dated. And I think that’s what Coco Noir really gets right: warmth in place of heaviness. No femme fatale lipstick-smearing-in-a-mirror drama. Coco Ebony, like standing in a room lit only by your own skin.

There's something about Chanel fragrances that you always recognize right away. If you're comfortable with the basic DNA, the essence that they share, then many of them will be kind of an easy reach. But this similarity and convenience of familiarity also kind of reveals that you basically only need one or two at most as the range is just much narrower than for most brands. I've come to think of Coco Noir as the arithmetic average of all female-targeted Chanel fragrances. It was the first one I bought because I was becoming intrigued by this oriental-adjacent, aldehydic character that seemed to serve as an accessible point of entry leading towards what I thought of as vintage fragrances. Coco Noir inhabits some magical goldilocks zone in that it seemingly incompasses all of Chanel's range as a brand. It's not quite as demanding and mature as the olfactory pillar that is No.5 without bowing down to any of the current trends. It also doesn't make me think of Coco EdP at all. And yet it has a timeless quality of its own. It has sweetness, it has woodyness, it has a green edge and a slightly spicy bite, but it doesn't veer off into one direction and remains contained. In my eyes Coco Noir is the essential Chanel, the one really doing the most.

Personally, I am head over heels in love with this fragrance! This is actually my first Chanel fragrance ever... which, it most certainly will not be my last.... I'd actually blind bought this fragrance, mostly out of curiosity. Wow, incredible. Stunning. GORGEOUS!! I am not familiar with the origional Coco, or Coco Mademoiselle, or Coco Mademoiselle Intense... however, if the DNA is even remotely similar, I must procure them all! I know all noses are different, but it's near impossible for me to imagine how anyone could NOT love Coco Noir! To me, this is fall in a bottle. It's an incredibly classy scent, that is absolutely stunning on spray and dries down gorgeously. It instantly transports me to the fall.. the crisp air, my favorite sweater, a pumpkin spice latte, and a stroll through the pumpkin patch!! But also, sexy. Mysterious, even. It's just the best of every single world! Would be beautiful in the winter as well, but I think this will be my signature scent for Fall! It's spicy, smooth... CRISP.. Crisp, but masterfully blended. I don't even know how to describe Coco Noir in a way that will do it justice... just an absolute WORK OF ART from Chanel! Ionic. Simply, iconic.

This is finally a scent I can say it is MY SCENT. It s me! In 2019 I tried it before going to Italia, and hated it. I was at the airport, maybe in a rush and trying other scents all mixed up and it didnt work. I tried it again a couple of weeks ago on a hot day, crowded place and I kinda liked. Citrusy in the beginning, and then patchouli and a tad smoky . Decided to give it a try. I bought it and used after a nice shower on a friday night to enjoy myself. And observed it evolve to a shy Allure Sensuelle Edp, which I really love, but sometimesI find too loud for everyday scent- I love the fragrance, but it is overwhelming during the summer. Coco Noir is what I was looking for. It suits me fine at the office because it is very close to skin, and a very different scent. There is no Mademoiselle in this IMO. It has that chanelesque atmosphere, a je ne sais quois that screams Chanel, but it is not a blast on your face patchouli/citrus bomb. It is very discrete, on my skin, at least. To sum up, Allure Sensuelle edp toned down. Lasting power : 7 h Sillage: discrete. Office friendly. Date friendly. I loved it. I am very glad I met you, Coco Noir.

This may just be my best blind buy yet, perhaps ever. Coco Noir is a beautiful fragrance. Every note comes together and blends so good, all wrapped together with a bow on top. I am of the male sex, so this perfume is not targeted towards me, but I love it so much. This is a womans fragrance, yes, but I think certain men like myself would be able to pull this off. I know I can. What an amazing blind buy this fragrance has been. I can't speak on longevity or silage just yet as I've only had it for about 30 minutes now, but I am very very happy with this fragrance and I can't wait to make it part of regular rotation. UPDATE 01-16-25: In the span of six days, Coco Noir has worked it's way into becoming my new signature fragrance. I have received nothing but compliments regarding Coco Noir and when I inform people that it's Coco Noir, a Chanel Women's fragrance, they're always surprised to find out that it's a womens fragrance I'm wearing. Overall, I am so very in love with Coco Noir that I've already bought a second bottle. The batch code on mine is approximately from late 2017, if anyone is curious about that kind of thing.

I absolutely love this perfume. It's elegant without being too formal, and the florals, woods, and sweetness are incredibly well blended so they all carry equal weight. Like other reviewers have said, it's a blend of coco mademoiselle (minus the "brightness" or less heavy on the citrus) and coco (minus the vintage feel). Though it appears to be a winter fragrance, I actually found that in cold weather, it has almost no lasting power. But now that it has started to warm up, it retains this amazing dry down of soft rose, geranium, vanilla, and tonka that I can only describe as smooth and comforting. On me, this is definitely not a "beast mode" fragrance and sillage is minimal, which is what I prefer. I don't want to choke people out who may be sensitive to the scent and to use perfume as an accessory, not a room spray that lingers long after I have left. But if projection is important to you, you might need to layer this or else you might be disappointed. I hope they don't discontinue this because it's not often I find something that I like so much and isn't incredibly overpriced.

I absolutely adore this fragrance! It is so sexy! I love that vibe. It definitely has Chanel dna but is different from other Chanel fragrances. This one is the Supermodel version! It’s the one that turns heads! I wish it was a bit stronger. In my opinion, it sits pretty close to the skin. I thought maybe my bottle has gone off, but I looked up at batch code and it was from 8/2020, so it’s not vintage. I overspray this one so it does last and has good projection but doesn’t pack as much of a punch as the original coco. I’m going to go through this bottle in no time! 💸💸💸 It has more of a cloud but I can’t pick up much on myself! I think maybe the cooler weather will help this beauty shine! I think I’m going to invest in the bigger bottle. This one is worth it! This will be a fragrance I ask for for Christmas and birthdays! Haha 2/9/26- I picked up a backup and larger bottle! I still find it incredibly beautiful, I just wish it was a little bolder. I guess I have coco for that, and I will continue to adore this, but I think I’m going to have to invest in the extrait next!

Coco Noir is a frag that subverts my expectations. I was expecting something like Coco Mademoiselle meets YSL Black Opium - a Coco Mad for evening wear but this is nothing like any of that. Firstly, this opens very differently from the regular Coco Mad. Instead of the gorgeously blended and slightly powdery orange, bergamot and lemon, Coco Noir starts with a very bright and powdery grapefruit. The fact it's that bright is surprising for a frag named 'Noir'. I would've expected something more like the deep, very dark and very serious grapefruit of the Hermès Kelly Caleche. Despite the name this is not an evening perfume. This easily works in daytime. 20 minutes later, it transitions to the familiar very well-blended heart of the Coco Mademoiselle range. A few notes here and there are changed like switching out the ylang-ylang for narcissus but overall you can tell they are related. Becomes a dusty narcissus 1 hr 20 mins in. 4hrs 45 mins in. It's contracted significantly. It's now very faint on my skin. Lasted 8-9 hrs.

I smelt the sample for this one, and bought it the next week. girls who love mens after shave/fresh scents, this is it. I usually go for fresh/fruity/not cloying sweet scents, I've been wanting to try heavy woody scents for a while, they give me headaches, sandalwood is the only one i like but not a heavy scent profile, but the tonka bean/vanilla/benzoin in this helps weigh it down to a darker chocolatey note. To my nose, this fragrance stands out compared to all other Chanel women fragrances, the others are pretty and floral. This one is a classy and sophisticated perfume, like she is a girlboss, mature yet youthful. I think its the Jasmine/olibanum, which makes this feel like you'd wear it at night as well. The dry down is masculine, but i'm obsessed, when i first smelt it i thought it was pretty basic, but the dry down is something i'd die for. I'd personally only wear this on colder days and at night though, you'd have to be well put together to wear this one sort of.

Take Coco Mademoiselle and dial up the smoothest dry patchouli on earth+++, minimize the citrus and sub bergamote/grapefruit--, add some subtle EXTREMELY well balanced spicy, dry notes, ---sweet notes= Coco Noir Should be called Coco Madame. Vintage scents were aimed at WOMEN, grown women and apparently women wanted to smell expensive, exotic, powerful, refined as opposed to the sweet, gourmand, fruity-florals of modernity. While it has that vibe, this also somehow has modernity to it. While it screams grown WOMAN, wife, Lady of the House, the MRS., and I'm sure it appeals to seasoned women, I think that any woman over 25 could also pull this off. It's certainly a classy fragrance for a classy woman. I love Chanel fragrances. They just exude class and sophistication while also being modern. I really like this one and think it would make an excellent signature scent. I do with the floral notes got a boost. I'd love to see a Coco Noir Florale flanker.

@SL.MS1958 this perfume has definitely been tweaked! I also sampled it regularly for years but never took the plunge to buy it. It used to be more resinous and masculine-smelling--not a bad thing, but I knew I would use other perfumes more. Fast-forward to 2024, and I bought a bottle with batch code 9503 (estimated to be from Dec 2023) and it has a huge base of vanilla. It smells like geranium-vanilla-leather-wood, and is very sweet to my nose. There is not much patchouli. If I knew about the big vanilla sweetness, I wouldn't have purchased it (because I tend not to like scents heavy on vanilla), but it turns out that I find this very addictive. I have to be careful not to overspray because it will give me a headache if I do, but there hasn't been a day in the past few months that I haven't craved it. It smells as if Coco Mademoiselle has put on an understated black dress and leather accessories. It's just so good.

Love at first sniff 🥰. The combination of fresh bitter bergamots and meditative mystical olibanum is just to die for. Spicy resinous orientals are my favorite. To take them and render them so airy, luminous and modern is just genius. It makes Coco Noir timeless. Signature worthy. It crosses the borders of time, age and gender with ease. I picture the youngest aunt of Coco Mad. Confident, tasteful, brilliant and successful but she is more reserved. Not as bubbly as her niece, a bit aloof (which she takes after her older sister Coco). But she is her own character. She dresses in a sharp a black shirt and black pencil skirt and heels. Her jewelry is minimalistic but very expensive and her hair sleek and classy. She can go from office to a dinner, party or even funeral with the same ease and confidence. I’m enamored but I just wish CN had better performance. It would have made it to my top 5 for life easily.

Surprised that I haven’t smelled Coco Noir until now since it has a warm spicy profile and features heavily patchouli, cloves, frankincense, tonka beans, rose, jasmine, a variety of citruses and sweet, juicy fruits. Which is usually the scent profile that I love wearing. Has depth and intensity. There is a dark richness to this perfume that is grounding and addictive. I would say that Coco Noir fits into the category of a confidence booster type of perfume. Bold, fierce and sexy. For nighttime affairs.. Therefore, it is instant love and goes straight to my buying list for next fall and winter. This is not a summertime scent for sure but for cooler days it must be glorious. It’s so warm, soft spicy, sweet, vanillic, with a beautifully crisp, clean patchouli note. Right up to my alley.. Too soon to say but I might even prefer it over Coco Mademoiselle Intense, which says a lot...

When this first came out in 2012, I found it pleasant, but was underwhelmed and felt like it was too much “of its time.” Now, with the intervening time, it reads a bit vintage, and I can see its ties to both Coco (I have the EDP; it’s the nostalgic “rich auntie” scent of my youth) and Coco Mad. Only in the face of today’s perfumes, can I see how complex and full-bodied some of mass-market stuff from the earlier 2000s were. OOPS. I was a snob and I wrong. 😂 There are plenty of STRONG perfumes nowadays, but a lot of them are more like a 2x4 coming at you, and this is a bit...symphonic?Anyway...I find it more wearable (on me!) than both Coco and Coco Mad. I enjoy both, but Coco tends to wear me, and Coco Mad sours in my skin in the drydown. Bought this last year, and have been truly enjoying it since then.

This one is aristocratic. It is cool, elegant understatement that shows its warmth in the base notes. In the winter chill, the opening is a burst of grapefruit and bergamot, layered over narcissus, rose and patchouli. A lot of patchouli. But the good kind of patchouli, if you know what I mean. The ad said something like: 'From black comes light', and that pretty much sums it up. The scent starts with moodlifting grapefruit and then transitions into something that brings us back to our roots and our inner peace: Balsamic woods that provide warmth and depth, yet maintain a bit of elegant distance. In warm weather, the narcissus can be perceived with just the right amount of density. A perfume for a lady. And a perfume that could teach you to behave like one - but in a friendly way 🤍.

I am stunned, enraptured, spellbound. Out of nowhere this unlocked a core memory for me. I am taken back to my childhood—to memories of my dad and our first apartment in Canada in 1997–but there’s nothing childish about it. There’s nothing too mature about it, either. You could say it leans masculine if you prefer florals and sweets, but for me it’s a woman who exudes quiet confidence. She is dressed in a black pantsuit, with slicked back raven hair, and dark makeup. She is bewitching, intoxicating, alluring, enigmatic, magnetic...I can go on. The bottle definitely matches the juice. It’s resinous, deep into the night, spicy but airy and ultimately elegant. I thought I loved Coco Mademoiselle best out of all the Chanel fragrances I’ve tried, but this is another level.

I just recently got this perfume in 100ml and i absolutely love it! To me, this is very sexy and elegant. It makes me think of a beautiful rich model dressed in black on the red carpet. It's a woody floral fragance but it isn't an overwhelming floral that would make it classify as an old lady perfume. It also has a little bit of sweetness to it and i think that is because of the rose and peach. It lasts very long especially on clothing and it is a little expensive (i paid $146) but i mean its Chanel so that is to be expected haha. Since this perfume is woody i think the best seasons to wear it would be in the fall and winter, but i love it so much that im gonna wear it regardless if its a scorching hot day in July, or a freezing cold day in mid October.

WOW, this is one incredible fragrance. I have worn Coco for years, yes I am a guy. I read that Brad Pitt also loves and wears Coco eau de Parfum. If a man can easily wear Coco, a man MUST wear Coco Noir. Coco Noir is warm, spicy, sexy, intriguing and very similar to Coco, but there is an underlying "greenness" that comes out, especially in the beginning. When I first apply Coco Noir, and I know this might sound odd to some, but I get a very prominent whiff of vintage (and awesome) Magie Noire :) Coco used to be a Powerhouse, but of course since the 80's it has been reformulated. Luckily, it still smells almost the same but longevity and sillage are not strong anymore. Coco Noir lasts longer, much longer, on me. Coco Noir is a Chanel Masterpiece!

I rejected this for a few years largely because I simply couldn’t pick up the scent while standing in the usual cloud of scents of a department store until finally couple of years ago I got it. Sadly, it doesn’t have the power and projection of other Coco flankers, but it is simply a divine true flanker of Coco; the dna of the OG but stripped away of the baroque qualities that some would deem dated. It’s toned down the 80s spices and amped up the rose patchouli bringing it to the modern era. The OG edt has been my sig for decades and I love every flanker since then- they all really do have the dna of the OG but Coco Noir is the best modern adaptation and would be one of my all time top 5...perhaps top 3 fragrances for life.

This was the only Chanel fragrance I avoided testing...and it was the biggest mistake I ever made in my fragrance journey!! My favorite old days signature and favorite fragrance is coco edp and coco edt..I was in the hunt for modern version of these, a fragrance that could be my signature in all seasons all occasions all moods...etc Coco noir is exactly what I was looking for... its refreshing and clean yet deep and sophisticated.. the opening is splash of coco edt mixed with a spritz of chance edt... and the dry down is a love child of coco edp and no.5...If you enjoy the vintage classics of chanel fragrances but you don’t want to feel overdressed or outdated... then you will ADORE Coco Noir...

A note to myself, dressed as a review. I can always depend on Chanel perfumes. This is what they are: dependable, versatile companions. Not too loud. Not going with every trend. They are timeless. They can be an aquired taste. Not every single one of them appeals to me, but I have 9 from their range, and I will invest in more. These days, or maybe at this particular moment of my life, wearing Chanel's creations feels particularly right, and gives me a greater pleasure than other beautiful scents in my collection. Coco Noir is an elegant and feminine in a detached way. For every occasion. A minus would be longevity and sillage, on me, both are weak. Empowering, but not overpowering.

I have so much love for Coco Noir. This is my all time favorite so far. Every single time I pick up the bottle and smell it, I get this face that people have when they smell or eat something they really, really like. Then I make this sound: "AHH". Inside my head I think: "Oh my god. This smells so good im gonna die". Guys like it too. At least the kind of guys I like. When I wear this I feel confident, sensual, charming and in charge. It brings my mood up and my pulse down. The longevity is very good in my opinion, and on my clothes it lasts forever. I hope everyone out there has a perfume that makes you feel the way Coco Noir makes me feel. -> GORGEOUS.

<3 Coco Noir is the epitome of a modern take on vintage perfumery. It is one of my staples and I wear it any season, but it always pulls rather cold on me, so I‘m still in search to detect some warmth in it. It is good that there is much less clove in there than in Coco EDP and that the citruses mixed with the base notes lean balsamic, contrary to the bright and polished Coco Mademoiselle. I just wish it had a pronounced peach accord like in Allure EDP and less citrus (or grapefruit solely) — it is just personal preference, but I actively fantasize about this particular reformulation! Otherwise a perfectly executed fragrance, as it is Chanel quality.

This bottle from 2014 is running low. It’s a perfume I wear for evenings out. It opens up really spicy on me and for this reason, it’s not a perfume I can reach for all the time. For the first few hours, it’s very masculine leaning on my skin compared to any unisex perfume I own. This is a perfume for when you are feeling bold, confident and want to be noticed. After 6 to 8 hours though, it turns into a different creature when all its notes disappear with the exception of vanilla, sandalwood and benzoin. It will be interesting to see if it remains the same when I get a second bottle. I love this and will always have one in my collection.

I truly am growing very tired of patchouli, except in Coco Noir. The feeling I got the first time I sprayed this is always the first memory I get when I pick up the bottle. It’s very dark feminine, classic, and chic. I wore this every single day through college; I was an English major studying rhetoric and classics. I paired this with tweed skirts and long trench coats and my round tort glasses and felt very sophisticated and dark. People followed me around to ask me what my scent was, it was so intoxicating to the air around me. I had a very toxic, dark love affair when I first discovered this. It’s hauntingly beautiful.

This has more in common with Coco Mademoiselle than the original Coco in my opinion, the common accord being the fruity, cleaned up patchouli that CM unleashed on to the world back in 2001. Here it is much more subtle (thankfully, some would say), and the opening of Coco Noir is not the wallop of notes and accords that you get in CM. I love CM but in the wrong mood it can really jangle the nerves. Coco Noir is all about restraint. It wears close to the skin like a silk camisole. (A black silk camisole, of course.) Nothing especially baroque here. Easy to wear but you have to like patchouli.

I don't understand the reviews. I absolutely love Coco Noir, it's one of my most favorite perfumes. Coco is also included at the top of my list. I do not like Coco Mademoiselle at all. It gives me a headache. I put Noir up there with Shalimar, but somewhat softer. I don't get soapiness at all. I think if you like Shalimar or Coco, you will probably like Coco Noir. I prefer Noir to Coco. I wear it any time of the year, but I do think it's an evening Fall/Winter scent. I always wear what I feel like, but I live in the Sonoran. It's only got two seasons here, Hot and Not Hot.

Just purchased a second bottle of this fragrance. It smells like an independent woman that knows her stuff. Approachable, bougie and mature. I don't get the comparisons to Mademoiselle other than them having the Chanel DNA. But, they are in different families. Mademoiselle is bright and bubbly while Coco Noir is mysterious, deeper and leans more masculine. I haven't found a Chanel fragrance that I don't like and dare I say this line is no longer expensive compared to the rest of the market. Do yourself a favor and get this classic scent. You will not regret it.

I thought I liked Mademoiselle Intense -- bought it, used it, almost suffocated myself, got disgusted, and sold it. After trying several Chanel perfumes, I was ready to give up, thinking that the house just wasn't for me. BUT then I decided to give Coco Noir one last chance, and something just CLICKED. This is absolutely lovely! It's less sharp than CM, and to me, it feels more rounded. Not really anything ""noir"" about this scent, but it is gorgeous. I'm in my mid 30s, and I feel like this is perfect and age-appropriate for me 😂🙏

If someone held a gun to my head and said “one for life” this would be the one. Bc chanel doesnt skimp on their brokie line. rose, patchouli and spices are mostly what i smell. works year round in all climates I don't need to scroll the reviews to know theres women saying “men can pull this off too” and I'm here to say, Stop It. Men have plenty of options. When something has a strong spice or patchouli note that doesn’t mean the fragrance is unisex. This is a womens fragrance, it smells like it, and it should stay that way.

Lo seguiré disfrutando, ya que me gustan los chipres. Una excelente compra! Recomiendo!! Creo que más para el otoño e invierno....aunque lo usé y estoy en verano acá donde vivo. Ofw: keep trying. I was disappointed too and forgot about CN for years until I gave myself a random spritz from the Chanel counter earlier this year and finally noticed the lovely patchouli and sandalwood. The issue is that CN creates an expectation of a heavy spicy oriental in the traditional manner but it's actually quite light, almost gauzy. It has gentle sillage and wears quite differently from the original Coco. If you struggle with heavy sticky ambers and orientals, Coco Noir could be just the thing.

I do not agree with the idea that the scent is similar to Coco Mademoiselle. In my opinion, Noir is the most distinctive scent among Chanel perfumes. As a fan of the Chanel perfume industry, I love this scent. Detailed information about its notes is already known, I will not write about it, but I know the feeling of the scent very well and I absolutely love it, it makes you feel sexy, timeless, luxurious and stylish, it is the scent of a confident, self-assured, well-groomed woman with beautiful eyes.

Not gonna lie i was initially intrigued by the bottle, it's so cool and beautiful?? I wasn't a Chanel person, not that they smell bad it's just too easily recognizable, so i tried a decant first and turned out this is my most favorite of all by far, however it doesn't have any longevity on me it evaporates after 1-2 hours. I still bought it, 60% because of the bottle design and 40% because of the fragrance lol. Very pretty to put in my vanity but I don't think i will repurchase.

This is one of my perfume babies! In my 20s I couldn’t stand it, NOW... I wear it at least once a week! To my nose it’s a elegant scent! I smell all of the notes listed and I’m in awe! Today I paired with Kayali 28 and it smells good on me omg! You can definitely wear Coco Noir alone and it performs in beast mode! This is not as sweet as Coco Mademoiselle, however it resembles the DNA. I can’t tell someone if they need both or not. I had to add both to my collection. ❤️❤️❤️✨

I have COCO edp and this doesn’t even come close to it . It smells more like calmer softer version of CM . More creamy not so sharp ! 🤨 dry down is a bit masculine sort of shower gel 😣 Edit: so at first I wasn’t impressed at all but after a few times trying it I literally became obsessed with it 😒 I don’t know but it is so fresh and clean and creamy I love it ! Bought a full bottle and I will wear this as a day fragrance! Coco edp is more evening one for me !

I had a waft of this when sitting down at a restaurant. A young woman walked in with this on, and instantly I was mesmerized. It was so good, and in the back of my mind, it had a Chanel DNA to it. I walked up to ask her what she was wearing, and she told me it was this exact perfume. Ever since that, I was captivated by this scent, I ended up going and buying myself a bottle. This is such a sexy, beautiful scent. One of my favorites in the Chanel line.

Coco Noir & Miss Dior 2017 the two sides of the modern classic coin ! I really love these two gems as both are rosy warm amber patchouli well-blended fragrances. For me , they are timeless classic with modern kick that I enjoy so much. Coco Noir is more earthy grounded towards the patchouli while miss Dior is lighter, sweeter, citrusy, and leans more towards the roses but both are warm and have warm sweet amber dry-down even its not listed in both !!

I gifted myself a bottle of Coco Noir when I landed a new job, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. It’s a stunning cool-weather scent that smells and feels expensive and classy. Wearing it makes me feel like a sophisticated woman (not a girl) who's got her shit together. There’s a quiet power to it that lingers all day. It’s quickly become one of my all-time favourite fragrances, and it’ll always have a place in my collection.

@plumtobacco are you in such a headlock that a man wearing this fragrance is morally offensive to you? You come across as being extremely ostentatious, very pretentious. As @sashafiercebiatch said, gender in fragrance is nothing but a mere marketing tactic. Anyways, I think Coco Noir doesn't fit a person of your calibre. Secretions Magnifiques by Etat Libre d'Orange seems more apt for a person with an attitude like yours. xx
