Coromandel Parfum

Oh dear God. My bottle of Coromandel parfum arrived on the doorstep this morning. No, it couldn't have been delivered via FedEx. Instead, it must have descended from the heavens, escorted by the most exalted of cherubim. Or at least that's what the quality is suggesting to my nose. I'm testing the pure parfum on the tops of my wrists (a dab to each) alongside the EDP in the crook of an elbow for comparison. The parfum opens so richly, as though there's a bottomless depth to it. There's much less citrus here; as promised in the ad copy, it's darker and smokier than its previous iterations. Within an hour or two, the initial richness has largely departed, leaving in its wake a most glorious dry-down: that dusty, sweet, resinous patchouli with incense and white chocolate, much like the far, far dry-down of the EDP, only deeper. I'm currently about four hours in, and the parfum is still giving arm's length projection. I will update with more thoughts as I continue on this pure parfum journey. ETA: At six hours, there’s little projection, but it’s still quite detectable on skin. ETA, Part II: I get about seven to eight hours longevity with just a dab to each wrist. Imagine what the experience might be with heavier perfuming! Truly beautiful!

This was my birthday present from my husband. I like the EDP, but never tried the EDT. I have no Chanel store in my area, so I requested this as a blind buy. I have tried a lot and own a few of the Les Exclusifs EDP, but had a feeling that I would most appreciate this in the extrait. I was right. It is just gorgeous. It is softer and closer to the skin and does not waft about like the EDP. I am generally a floral aldehyde gal, so these incense, ambery, vanilla fragrances are usually appreciated by me when worn by others. I always felt floral fragrances were more consistent with my coloring, style, and impression. However, this is so beautiful and delicious that I had to have it. I chose the parfum to keep it close to me and for only those close enough to me to be in my personal bubble. I am in love! I always did like frankincense as an aromatherapy centering fragrance, but this parfum offers me that emotional response along with a sense of poetic beauty. It is perfect from beginning to end to my nose.

My favorite fragrance in parfum form? Why, of course I’ll spend that money I don’t have! Everything is beautiful. The bottle is beautiful. The stopper is beautiful. The wax I savagely ripped off was beautiful. And the scent... the scent is perfection. Coromandel smoothed out, airbrushed and polished. That harsh citrus sharpness at first spray of the edt, gone. The heart is intensified. Just a swipe from the stopper and my eyes are glazed over. True love. Edit: after living with this parfum for a while I have to edit my excitement a little. What I adore about the edt and edp are the patch and white chocolate, and while this is still Coromandel, those features, my favorites, have been relegated to the background in this variation. Still good, but wish the levels had not been adjusted as this is not the holy grail patchouli that it is in its other forms.

The original Western Oriental dream finally arrives in a Parfum version and it is a revelation. Influenced by the Chinese lacquered screens collected by Ms. Chanel, the dreamy concoction which remains a standard for Oriental perfume creations in western perfumery packs in quite a punch in the Parfum version, accentuating the incensy benzoin base and eliminating the overt white chocolate sweetness in the EDT dry down. The perfume opens with citrusy notes highlighted by a juicy orange. The heart is mostly patchouli with hints of rose, jasmine and orris. The perfume settles on a powdery benzoin base surrounded by olibanum and labdanum. This version is clearly more unisex with moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. A beautiful new interpretation of a timeless classic which actually enhances its intended character. Enjoy!

Most days I use my big bottle of Coromandel edP spray, but for special occasions (or even bedtime), I will use drops of Coromandel pure Parfum on pulse points. The pure Parfum is stronger, yet more well rounded and there is much less of that "damp earth or wet paper" smell that the edP spray can have. The pure Parfum is smoother, warmer and is closer to the dry down of the edP spray! I am happy to have both, since I can spray the spray on my clothes and in my hair, whereas the pure Parfum needs to be dabbed. They compliment each other for sure. I get 4-5 hours of longevity with Coromandel spray, and the pure Parfum will last 12+ hours on my skin (not strong, but still there). I have not figured out the note yet, but the pure Parfum smells like soft Youth Dew on my skin after 10-12 hours.

I cannot get enough of Coromandel EdP so decided to blind buy the Parfum...and I was NOT disappointed!!! Compared to the EdP, it's smokier, richer, and darker with less of the beautiful damp earth patchouli, but still retains the noted white chocolate sweetness (just with more depth). I'm smelling more incense which reminds me of Chanel's recent Le Lion release- also a recent picked-up. To my surprise, it seems like Coromandel Parfum is the love child of Coromandel EdP and Le Lion with the progression going like: Coromandel EdP (bright, sweet, good sillage) -> Coromandel Parfum (dense, deep, drier, hint of incense, close to skin) -> Le Lion (sharp, smoky, incense, projection monster). Sure it's expensive, but completely worth the money if you're already a fan of the EdP.

Coromandel edp is gourmand patchouli, while the parfum is a patchouli front and center. The parfum also features a more natural patchouli with its earthiness in tact, sweetened and softened by white chocolate and frankincense. As mentioned by another reviewer, I really notice the similarity between Coromandel parfum and Le Lion. Coromandel parfum really focuses on the base notes compared to the edp, following a similar relationship as other Chanel fragrances. Cuir de Russie parfum has a stronger distinct leather than the edp version and Bois des Iles has a more prominent sandalwood than the edp.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Didn’t think that this whiff of chocolate effused by Chanel’s use of patchouli would be glorified in condensed form. I wouldn’t have thought either that a children’s bedtime drink would be considered innovative in this age of fruitchoulis. Warmer and even radiating. Citrons aback with the fixatives affront. A more demure smoke, all my skin tells me would all be about this wonderful white chocolate accord that would even scratch the back of my throat, with pleasure in Chanel style. The intensity I wished for the Guerlains L’arte collection to have. Kitschy aplomb.

Decadent patchouli. I like the current edp, but it is a bit too synthetic, sweet, and screechy. The parfum is perfection. It highlights the sensuality and touch of skank of real patchouli, refined with beautiful florals, rich balsams and uplifting citrus. Doesn't project as much as the edp, but leaves a seductive scent trail and lasts all day. If you like perfumes with a higher percentage of naturals and vintage quality you definitely want to this, as well as Cuir de Russie and Bois des Iles extraits.

As if Coromandel didn’t already exude a lavish enough sense of finesse, this Extrait de Parfum renders it richer, more luxurious than ever. Omitting the searing citrus opening and gourmand vanilla bean-speckled white chocolate accord of the EdT and EdP, the Extrait wears even more opulently with softer, dustier patchouli, more abundant frankincense and benzoin atop a positively lustrous base of amber-burnished labdanum. EDP: More amber EDT: More neroli Parfum: More smoke (not cigarette, it's burning frankincense) and a tiny bit animalic in the vein of Bois des Iles parfum Parfum is my favorite, EDT has more projection and more in the bottle so I wear it more.

@Blacq China - you say you bought this in 2016. But Coromandel Parfum was released in 2019. Do you mean to review the parfum or the Eau de Parfum instead? That one was released in 2016. 🤔

I adore this scent. It is rich and decadent. I even apply it before bed.

I like this one a lot, but it reminds me a little too much of my Guerlains for me to go FB. A very classic, sophisticated amber. Yet, I think if I were to layer Shalimar with Angelique Noir, I’d be at the same place. It’s beautiful, though.

Simple review here: I dislike this a lot and I would not recommend. Yes, you can tell that the perfume is expensive but aside from that it smells awful. Edit: I sprayed this on my sister and it smelt lovely lol. I guess it doesn't mix well on my skin.

The jasmine and citrus smell moist in a bad way but the base notes are beautiful. A much better scent after the dry down. Overall I don't love it, but I would love to try the other versions of this scent because the potential is there.

I have bought it in 2016. sometimes I touch a swab on the palm of my hand, in addition of another Chanel perfume (this time Bois des Iles). not mingled with each other, as that I can smell the Coromandel also singularly. wether the perfume also comes percolating above from out of itself ... I feel it has the same characteristic as No5 in this sense: that these are perfumes which slide so effortlessly inside your personal Clôche, your personal environment and this with elegance and perfect unobstrusive fluidity. the Coromandel of course is another perfume with an emphasis on Resins, Labdanum, Orris and Patchouli. but all these ingredients, of Noble pedigree, add to this extraordinary presence of an all-suffusing perfume. [copy-paste] 'Bitter Orange, Citruses, Neroli, Patchouli, Orris Root, Rose, Jasmine, Benzoin, Olibanum, Labdanum'. it seems to me Olivier Polge used exactly the right Perfume Materials as also blended them in all directions just heavenly. the perfume simularly enfolds as also immediately settles its undeniably elegant and sweetly resinous as also microgranularly Incense smellable shadow. while I mostly do not smell Citruses I have a feeling they 'zestify' the Initials here. yet all ever so lightly applicated while never underperforming. as with all touches in this perfume. may the Resins be the main Ingredients the Roses and Jasmine lend the perfume this unmistakable Chanelissime heaving it up to a place of Grandeur and Artistic Sculpture in aromafluidal dynamics. what this perfume does is sending each Ingredient up and then it is replaced by the next but this movement in perpetuum endlessly shifting while also beholding a regal Stature. so this microgranular fluide dynamics shift shape every following moment as that the 'enfolding' resembles the way a Rose unfolds (fast forward filmed) petal for petal. hereby the Citruses play (or may play) an initial role but I am sure they also contribute to the strong reminiscent character of the perfume. as do all the Ingredients. the Roses and Jasmine, possibly hidden and in that, the more phantomously present (as in homeopathic principle) give the perfume a Delicate Chanel après Toute, Chanel à Tout Court, Chanel Pur Sang, intimity and delicacy. the Patchouli I, retroactively, recognize from Allure Sensuelle and Coco Mademoiselle Intense. it adds some earthiness as even the remotest soil sprout Patchouli and tiniest Flowers, but also the Roses and Jasmine, the Neroli and Orris Root. also an Earty addition whilst at the same time giving in an unforgettable tender Powderiness. this all not phaseological but more simulaneously within the caleidoscopic, chameleontic, fluidisizing Perfume dynamics. we are presented with each time this other 'Plateau Vivante' of the Noble Ingredients, used. Labdanum (Cistus Ladanifer) which I recognize (not only) from Le Labo Labdanum 18, the Olibanum (Boswellia Sacra) as also used in Montales Louban, Benzoin (Styrax) all give this perfume a soothing, almost emollient applicability, out of which is distilled the sheer pleasure of knowing this perfume is nearby. I have the feeling, as also sensation, a microgranulary effect is hovering around my head, where all these resins and with the Orris Root, getting lost to each other both refining and reinforcing themselves reciprocally (I studied philosophy can't help it) in a perpetuous movement giving the perfume a magical, soothing and Ultra Chique Otherworldliness. and at the same time a Spiritual Worldliness, without ever leaving the realm of Couture, Parfum, Frivolités and Frissons. so the perfume is rather this immediate Apparance, 'Event' than the classic 'perfume unfolding in phases'. the Spiritual Sur-Dimension is included in the whole Sacred Ritual of wearing this perfume. in hindsight (i.e. with the perfume still fully moving) I sense that this perfume blends the soft and also Crisp Resinous and Balsamic Incenses and Orris, yet its Floralcy can not be denied: Roses, Neroli, Jasmine and Orris keep persisting throughout the perfume's Presence. it is a mind-altering experience and for me, a Transformative and also très Parisian Événement. Chanel keeps having it's finger on the pulse, in 40 years with Karl Lagerfeld, and let us not forget Madémoiselle herself (1921-1971 as Chanel Couturière) and now Matthieu Blázy, it keeps us on our toes.

I would not invest in this extract, considering the absence of the following notes: White Chocolate, Woodsy Notes, Tahitian Vanilla and Musk.

I feel as if since Olivier took over the house, he’s just been producing flankers. N*5 L’Eau, Bleu De Chanel Parfum, Coco Mademoiselle Intense, Chance Eau Tendre EDP, Chance Eau Vive, now Coromandel Parfum. Sure, he’s produced a few pieces from the Les Exclusifs, but two are flankers. The only newness that was exciting for people in the past few years was Gabrielle. Chanel is becoming boring under him. L’Oréal should hire him to stick with producing more L’Homme scents instead if I hear there’s going to be another flanker produced under him while he’s at Chanel. I love his previous creations, but I don’t think he suits the brand. He’s not his father.

This is a masterpiece that should never be discontinued hopefully this will be available again soon as I would love a backup. This is an incredible version of coromandel and it is the most rich and delicious patchouli I have smelled in a perfume. This version goes deep. The EDP is very tame compared to this and I much prefer the Extrait. There is something in the EDP that can get unpleasant to me and this does not have that quality it is rounded and smooth. This is a hidden gem for sure.

A different concentration is not a flanker. A flanker is a telling of a different story with ties to the original. A different concentration merely a representation of the original release at a different strength or intensity. None of the Les Exclusifs he did were flankers (Misia, Boy, 1957) and he only reformulated the rest. Tendre Poison is a flanker of the pillar fragrance Poison, Poison Eau de Cologne is not. A rewrite of an original book is not a sequel. etc. also, 20190... lol.

Dare to twist open that gorgeous crystal stopper, the promise of an experience unlike any other and it somehow delivers a poetic love note to your nose and symphony to your senses. Pathcouli is in perfect harmony with a gourmand base and a sumptuous incense at its heart. Coromandel Parfum sits majestically atop the mount Everest of Chanel perfumery. Poetry is in the air. It's that simple.

I asked about this at Saks and the SA insisted it wasn't new and they always carry it. She searched the stock under the display and said they must have was sold out. When I repeated its a new release she repeated it wasn't new and I was mistaken for another fragrance. I feel a small vindication reading here it was released in 2019

I much prefer this to the EDP. I am a fan of Chanel Les Exclusifs line, but the Coromandel EDP projected something off my skin that I wasn't a fan of. A bit old lady-ish. The Parfum, however, doesn't give me that feeling and is super nice. I tried all the Parfums and I think this is the star of them,

Very beautiful perfume at the beginning. It is ambery and fully oriental with a warm, comforting aspect. But then after 30 to 40 minutes, it smelled like rain. That part turned me off. I was wishing it remained warm and oriental throughout but unfortunately, I didn't like the dry down on me.

Tested this at the Chanel store and the sales associate said it will last 24 hours however on me it was gone within 3 hours max + major dislike for the smell. Like a musty Grand Soir...

@joyjoy Will you stop it? When has Chanel in recent history discontinued any of their parfums? It's just not available currently due to supply constraint.

Looks like this is discontinued? Ok, never mind. It has a “notify me” on the website now which I swear it didn’t have a cpl weeks ago.

Does it still smell as much white chocolate as the original please message me about it since i can ́t decide which one to purchase.

Is this discontinued? I can't find it on the official website, there's the body oil instead.
