N°1 de Chanel L'Eau Rouge

First of: I do understand why many people who love Chanel are somewhat baffled about this new creation. Yes it is different, yes it is not typically Chanel as usual, but as for me, - I love this so much! I have to say that I generally love descret, light perfumes, maybe because I have a very sensitive nose (no, not allergic, just a VERY good sense of smell, so I might detect scents as extremely strong which others don't even notice (which means I almost suffocate if someone around me wears bombs like Baccarat Rouge). So this scent is lovely for me because it smells expensive, papmered, expensivley bodylotioned and makeuped, or my very first association, 'it smells like the expensive bathrooms/products in the really expensive hotels I visited'. I smell some velvety, woody, makeup vibe, bodylotion, musk of the better sort, and some kind of red fruits in the background, but they are also velvety and soft, not fresh and tangy. The altogether-impression is a dimmed, velvety, soft, creamy expensive, pampered scent that is quite subtle, but it definitely is not 'not there'. If I spray it on I can smell it for at least 5-6 hours, after which it turns into a very skinny, delicious soft musk that you can only detect when you smell directly at your skin. Sprayed on clothes I can easily smell it two days later. So yes, it is an unusual Chanel creation but I am grateful as it is a scent I could easily wear every day without it ever getting on my nerves. I'd say it always gives you a feeling of being well-groomed, safe, cozy and elegant without wearing something that olfactory slaps your counterpart in the face already when you only enter the room. So, I personally love it and could imagine it could be quite liked in countries like South Korea, as two friends there told me they love it for the very same reasons as I do. So if you like subtle cozy elegance without murderous sillage, give it a try.

I have a sample and I can testify that the notes do smell very natural as they come from real natural ingredients. Absolutely love the top and middle notes! The best and most realistic berries I've smelled and usually I don't gravitate towards fruity centric perfumes but wow Chanel you mastered it here. So I smell the beautiful berries, rose, musk and lifted up by fresh citrus and an undertone of Iris to keep it classy. However...... the base is not as exciting and kind of smells like luxury wipes. What's disappointing as many indicated is the longevity. Maybe overspraying would help but I have a sample and it IS a mist after all. I need to think a bit before pouring $$$$$ on it. Way too overpriced for the juice quality but I might eventually just for how amazing the top and middle notes are. If someone knows a very similar perfume with better lasting powers then please let me know!

It's a fragrance mist and a skin care product. Not a perfume. But what a lovely skin care product it is. The rose, the berries and the citrusy sweet musk base (plus something else in the base that reads as woody to me) are very soothing together. The scent itself, or the idea of it, reminds me of Eau Dynamisante by Clarins because it has the same sophisticated, clean and natural type of appeal. Overall, it carries a spa like, clean, feminine and very well put together (if someone gets close enough) vibe. It has a relaxing and grounding effect whilst at the same time making you feel luxuriously groomed. I never want to be without it.

I think this is incredible. It truly smells like body/skincare. It reminds me of a lotion my mom put on her legs when I was a kid. It's just clean - but not in a musky (Glossier You) way things are clean smelling today. And not in a shampoo way. I don't get fruity and only a hint of powder. It smells like lotion in the way that iris scents smell like lipstick or cosmetics. It has a Nivea and Vaseline brand lotion combined smell. It wears close and is work appropriate. I get the irritation with longevity etc. but it is not marketed as an EDT or EDP. It is admittedly overpriced, but I love it.

I received a sample from Ulta.This fragrance is all about rose.Very weak sillage,so you wanna spray it on fabrics to get it noticable.The rose is nice and luxurious,but I am still thinking that if I wanted to smell of roses,I'd rather wear Miss Dior Blooming bouquet instead,at least it has a better sillage.I have enough points to get it from Ulta free of charge and still wonder if it's worth buying.It is a nice rose,it is Chanel,it has that luxurious vibe,but why it is so weak and ...expensive???I am on a fence.

I really like this scent. Yes as others say, it can smell like very expensive cosmetics. But sometimes I like that type of fragrance and it is what I want in that moment. I does smell very refined and put together. Light but definitely there. Do not confuse this with a normal body spray because it isn't at all. Maybe a little expensive for what it is, but all of Chanel is and it is because of the quality. This is different and I like that it is something different for my collection. I plan to keep it in "stock"

I freaking adore this one, it's just so juicy, fresh and floral in all the right ways but that just confirms what pretty much everyone's been saying here: it's a glorified and extremely overpriced body mist. I wish I didn't like it so much because I'm surely running out of it in a few weeks and I bet it would've been perfect for the summer. In the very unlikely event that Chanel releases an EDP version of this and it doesn't cost a fortune, I'll be the first one in line to get it.

I've just tried it in a store, and it blew my mind. It's so effortlessly Chanel, so modern and still classic, perfect for wandering around in the street, listening to Sault as a soundtrack. It is almost unisex. Ok, it's not a very strong scent but is flowery floating nectar. SO I came back to the store to buy it. For the first time, I add a Chanel fragrance to my collection. It kind of represents a vivid frantic new young Chanel customer, and so I can bite (relate to) that.

I’m on my 3rd bottle and I keep coming back to this fragrance...I don’t know how to describe it other than classically floral and feminine. It’s one of those fragrances that feels like it’s meant for a spa or aromatherapy at the same time as being perfect for a date night or just to catch someone’s attention. The fragrance lasts ALL DAY for me sometimes even into the next day depending. I will continue to keep this in my rotation as a classic clean floral famine beauty.

Yes, it's overpriced. Yes, it's pretty much just water. Yes, you'll run out of it quickly. Yes, it's insane to continuously purchase it. But it's gorgeous and paired with the Chanel Fresh Body Cream? Are you kidding me?! 😍😍😍💸💸 It's a vibe. It's a feeling. Now a days I would pay anything to lift the spirits, so to me, this is worth it. They say spend your hard earned $ on experiences, right? 🙈

One of my favorite CHANEL scents! As everyone has said, it's very expensive and the scent disappears quickly... However, I really love this scent. Soft, mellow and gentle scent of roses and fruits. I think the bright red and simple beauty of the bottle is CHANEL's aesthetic. The precious "CHANEL No.1". I feel lonely with just a body mist. I wish they would at least serve eau de toilette.

This perfume -mist is a punishment for perfume lovers. The marvelous juice, bitter berries and cosmetic roses and the beautiful bottle are exquisite- aber the abysmal staying power that, because it is just a mist, feels like air and disappear after ten minutes...is finally a sadness... I hope for a perfume exactly like this piece of art.

So many people don’t know or like this scent but it’s is my absolute favourite. It’s smells like a glass of champagne while snacking on berries and doing your makeup. It’s very berry like and musky but not sweet which I love . One of my favs and a repurchase when I run out.

Absolute love. Fell in love with the soft, clean, fresh and pleasantly powdery scent. Would have bought this if this did not fade after 10 minutes. Zero lasting power. I have body mists that last longer than this. Such a shame, this is such a lovely scent.

I bought this after I bought the face serum because I couldn’t get over how much I loved the smell. It’s now a part of my bedtime routine (yes, I’m that extra). Tbh if Chanel would bring this out in a shower gel I’d be a very, very happy woman.

Beautiful scent. Has become my new soft classic scent. Smells sophisticated and soft and clean. Like expensive makeup. It just is so comfortable to wear. I will always have this scent just like favorite lingerie

This sounds like it will be a great body mist to be worn at night or after a long workout session when you are at home relaxing. I had to order it. Can’t wait to review it on my channel.

Amazing sexy elegant scent I wana chase whos wearing that

This was pushed on me today by a SA that wanted to put it on my skin at all costs, while I put all my efforts to dodge her wishes. I won, she took a bunch of mouillettes and then proceeded to bath them in this (I mean, 10+ sprays). It is supposed to be a skin scent, so it was obviously faint, but it's indeed really pleasant, and, if I bury my face in the cards 4 hours later, I can still pick a subtle musk-floral, just slightly powdery note, that gives that scented makeup vibe everyone talks about. Great, isn't it? Yes and NO. I agree with the reviews that recall every other aunt smelling like this in the 90s when you gave them a hug. And they were usually well put together women, so nothing to complain about. I enjoy the scent, it's classy and feminine, but the SA managed to keep a straight face telling me that this is "only 104 euro for 100 ml, not a big deal". Neither of us believed what she was saying. I obviously nodded and smiled, while going back to my blocknotes. Well, I have way more expensive fragrances, but this is an alcoholic perfumed water that likely dehydrates your skin while giving a really subtle scent, that will last even less if your skin becomes dehydrated. I've never spent this much on body sprays. Any flowery/musk body cream would hydrate and give a similar subtle skin scent for a fraction of this price, and I'd bet that L'Erbolario has a body cream that can replace this. Squidward Spongebob Squarepants association is the appropriate response to this smoke-without-meat release.

This is probably one of the very few fruity florals that I actually really like, so it is a shame that the sillage and performance of this fragrance is so abysmal! It only lasted about two hours on my skin and then "poof!" it was gone like that! The citruses and red berries are done really tastefully in the opening and it manages that very rare quality of being fruity without making me smell like a fruit salad. And yet, it still made my mouth water like something that I could eat all up. The rose though was of course what I smelt most of in this fragrance and it is a very lush and red rose that happens to also be slightly jammy. It pairs really nicely with the sweet jasmine and orange blossom and there is something very youthful and feminine about it. The musk and the iris in the dry down then gives Chanel's N°1 de Chanel L'eau Rouge a powdery and cosmetic feeling, like expensive skincare at a classy spa, a Chanel spa specifically. It feels very refreshing and rejuvianting, like I'm having my face and body misted right now with an expensive healing spa water. Because of this spa-like quality, I'd say that this would be for spring and summer afternoons when you want to relax and calm your senses with a light and inoffensive fragrance. Because of its lovely smell but woeful longevity and sillage that I talked about earlier in my review, I'd only give N°1 de Chanel L'eau Rouge a 7/10 in total.

Predominately rose for me. Very much like rose water, but fancy. Quite a light fragrance, which was to be expected given it is a fragrance mist, not a perfume. I will be using this over my Chanel les exclusifs body cream to extend the life of the fragrance mist, but I do hope that Chanel will expand this No 1 range to include some body products, like a lotion or body oil, which would be fantastic. I can see many people being disappointed in this launch initially, but I think introducing the body products would really turn that around. We all love a new Chanel fragrance launch and while I do think L’eau Rouge is lovely and even going into it eyes wide open that it is not a perfume, it’s a fragrance mist, I still want more. Anything to prolong and bump up this scent would be great as I feel this mist is not enough - I want more. But the fact that I do want more indicates a fair amount of success with this launch. I’m just hanging out for news of No 1 body range. Have I mentioned I want more No 1 body products? Chanel, if you’re listening, more No 1 body products, please. Shower gel, body oil, bubble bath, bath tablets, lotion, dry oil body spray, body cream... all of it, please and thank you!

N°1 de Chanel L'Eau Rouge smells like rose water with a berry tinge. The description is that simple for me, this is so light that is has absolutely no trail and to smell it I have to put my nose against my skin. This is a very expensive bed fragrance; like people who wear perfume to sleep in – this would be great for that. Definitely office appropriate because no one would be able to smell it on you. As I write this I am wondering if this is just the beginning of the evolution of this scent, like are we going to get an eau de toilette, and eau de parfum, and an intense eau de parfum? Chanel has the Bleu for men so maybe we will get a bleu for women? Or maybe even a vert? Being the fragrance enthusiast I am I would definitely want to smell them all, but I can fully acknowledge how ridiculously out of hand marketing and flankers can get. It smells very nice, but as someone who blind ordered a bottle, it was not worth the money.

Chanel No 1 L’eau Rouge (2022) - powdery berries - #olivierpolge didn’t release something complicated for No 1’s accord, yet he did come up with something refreshing yet nostalgic. Starts with fresh and crisp red berries combined with Bergamot and Lemon. Zesty with a hint of sweetness & almost a literally translation of the real thing. This transitions to a Rose, Jasmine and Iris accord that Chanel is known for. This accord isn’t mind-blowing as its ubiquitous across the brand’s perfume portfolio - BUT this is the ONLY perfume that has made the Chanel-ade the star and really the life of the perfume. This is very similar to Guerlain launching #guerlinade back in the 1920s. The smell? Reminds me of classic skincare. Powdery, radiant, creamy and rounded. Must try if you want to understand Chanel.

This smells like Chanel cosmetics and skincare - it’s like they’ve taken the scent from their makeup and made it a wearable perfume. I love it. It’s a celebration of that secret, intimate time we spend at our vanities. Projection is moderate to soft (impressive for a scented mist), and it lasts a good six hours. Divine. I really do love this sort of return to old school cosmetics we’re experiencing - Chanel’s as this fragrant mist, Gucci’s as the delightful powdery dry vintage violet-iris scent of their cosmetics, it’s delightful. What a time to be alive!

I blind ordered a bottle of this from Chanel US. It arrived quickly and was packaged so beautifully, Even the mailer box is beautiful. There's not much to smell here, and I didn't expect it. I think this is more of an aromatherapy thing. I'd put it on par with 4711, except the floral version. A light, inoffensive way to start your day with just a touch of scent. And the scent, while fleeting, is very beautiful. I layered a rose scent (Diptique Kyoto) over this yesterday and it was lovely.

Chanel x eau de Hollywood makeup compact Dollhead berry-rose, waxy and lightweight and mature in nature. Dense and not shrill, but transparent and doesn’t fill the room. You will recognize this scent from somewhere, but you probably won’t be sure where- It could be the drydown of any berry-rose fragrance. L’eau is the understatement of the year, this is a body splash at best. While the scent is lovely, it’s lacking the personality and body for which Chanel is renowned.

Very watery rose musk. On me, I smell the rose and jasmine a lot. I am not sure where the citrus is on me, as they run out quickly. It really does smell like "Chanel" and also like cosmetic products. I don't LOVE it (bought in Korea--the smell on the tester strip was different/better-ish than that on my skin) but it's pleasant. Reminds me of my mother's shampoo. I wear it mostly during spring, only with certain outfits (flowy dresses, etc).

I believe I am the target market here, so many things I love combined :) Chanel, mist, the clean formula. It is a really beautiful, tightly woven arrangement of notes. Lighter and refreshing. At first, the rose really stands out, and this particular rose is a note I'm not so keen on, but it quiets down quickly. I really love it, but I think it'd be even better without the rose. Hoping they make a l'eau blanc mist soon! :)

The scent of the entire cosmetic line with red camellia available as a fragrant body mist. It performs quite well on me. I can feel it for 6 hours. It is comforting. It blooms its creamy floralness in summer, but I hope it will be something cocooning and gentle the entire year. Sometimes life is harsh, this scent is the opposite. What I feel on me is rose, musk and iris. Hopefully the composition evokes camellia scent.

Starts pleasantly fruity sweet, morphs to add a touch of florals, and ends sweet. Nothing is really distinct enough to pinpoint notes. I used a sample and surprisingly did have it last for 8 hours, but the scent is very close to the body and is basically a skin scent for most of it. Doesn't stand out but is very pretty and easy to wear.

I love the smell, it's a very beautiful scents I may say. Very soft, elegant and calm, too bad it doesn't last longer maybe not longer than 2 hours on my skin. They should make this as a perfume not a body mist, I'll definitely buy it.

This is surprisingly a pleasant floral that gives off a smokey vibe. Yes, I smelled hints of smoke, which I liked a lot. It is not meant to last long but for the duration it lasted I enjoyed wearing it. Try it yourself.

Pretty fruity floral. I like that it’s not too sweet. It’s L’Eau so it’s quite fleeting. But it’s not a juvenile fruity perfume. It’s classy.

Is it overpriced? Yes. Is it so week no one will notice it but yourself? Yes. Are you still gonna buy it? Yes.

Identical smell to white diamonds en rouge.

It's an attractive scent for sure. Pretty. The color is beautiful and the bottle is classy. At first it didn't "grip" me, but the longer it's on my skin, the more I want to smell it. At first it's fresh, sort of makeup-y...but as it melts into skin it becomes a brighter scent that's distinctive and recognizable. I like my fragrances to smell like what they are, not like individual notes, or identifiable fruits or flowers. L'eau Rouge cannot be judged well on a paper strip. It needs skin and warmth to bloom. Since camellias have virtually no scent (some are kind of lemony), I can't say this smells like camellias (obviously). It smells like what one could imagine a bright, fresh coral camellia might smell like! All those people who say they're allergic to every single scent molecule known to humanity, or who get migraines from perfume, are going to be loving this one. I would bet money on it. They're going to say, "I usually hate perfume because A.it makes me sick B. it gives me a headache C. I'm allergic to the planet D. It's smells like "old lady" (for those whose vocabulary is as limited as their life experience) E. I can't wear fragrance at work, but THIS...this is the perfume for ME!" For $110 they can finally have a fragrance nobody (including themselves?) can smell! For me, this new Chanel is disappointing, but I remember when Chance came out, and I fell head over heels for it. I wear it to this day! I absolutely love it. But it was so degraded on perfume boards and in reviews. This might be like that. Chance was just in time for my mindset, maybe Rouge is at the cusp of a new scent movement. As long as they still keep making Chance and Chance eau Tendre, I'll be just fine. I know better than to fall for all the "natural ingredient" bullshit. And I don't care about synthetic vs "natural". I don't think humans were better off before knowledge of germ theory and indoor plumbing, so I'm all for making new and exiting things. Why would we regress? It's funny how older, less synthetic fragrances were the ones that were demonized, because of their strength, and now that we've got molecules that can barely bother anybody, there's an underlying thought process that wants to go back to the "natural" ingredients that made everybody sick. So, this smells nice. Super light. It's nicer than a basic BBW body spray. But not $110 nicer. It's like Clarins Eau Dynamisante...without the spiciness... Eau des Jardins...like that kind of thing.

No 1 Eau Rouge is a light, refreshing fragranced mist that is seemingly made from all-natural ingredients. It is hard to pick out individual notes, given how subtle and fleeting it is. No. 1 opens with sweet, fruity notes that resemble berries and some citrus-y freshness. It becomes rosewater-like, enhanced by a hint of berry sweetness, and a hint of clean musk creeps in as it dries down. That's it! It fades to nothing very quickly. Sillage is intimate and longevity is very weak. An expensive body mist, it is pleasant and natural, but pointless. I would just buy rosewater instead. A very unusual product for Chanel. 2/5.

All those ingredients/scents it listed over there, like I barely smell any of them. It states itself had notes, top heart n base. But it really doesnt. Like if anyone at home just trying to mix water with essential oils or serum, we wouldn't successfully create a final product that has layers of scent, it would just be scented water. And thats how i feel abt this product... You know price for a proper fragrance and a body mist should have significant diff...

I tried it yesterday. At first, it felt really weak and citrusy and I could hardly pick out any of the notes. But after a while, the red berries came through and the scent settled into a calm, tender skinscent with a woodsy, soapy feel. The overall effect is the scent of a luxe creme. The staying power is about 4-5 h and the scent stays close to the skin. I like it and have ordered a bottle.

Some kind of generic rosewater with raspberry body mist. I get musk, raspberry and roseWATER. The raspberry adds a hint of sweetness. It's watery and very light -just like a nice shampoo. Nothing special but smells good 3/5. I mostly wear it as a hair perfume since it doesn't last on my skin. Screams Victoria's Secret to me, I wouldn't guessed it was a Chanel.

This is a beautiful flowery musky light and relaxing scent. It has a spa feel to it and something I like to wear before bed. I like how it looks on my bed side table, in its simple and elegant red glass bottle. Performance is non existent, it is basically a body mist, but a beautiful one ❤️

I just dont think this is a 'perfume', come to the price and everything else. I mean if anyone like smell of Chanel products directly buy those products would be a better option.

I sure hope No.1 doesn't mean a new beginning especially if it means veering off on this path. My husband bought me a bottle and I had my doubts as light fragrances are not really my thing, unless it is a citrus floral fragrance. Still, I wanted to give it a chance to please him. Besides, it might work well in Florida; at least, that's what he thought. Well, that didn't work out so well because it all but disappeared in the heat of the day. It must have a lot of alcohol or something else in it for it to burn off so fast. The only time I can smell this for all of 5 minutes is in in the cool of the evening. That's crazy. So, this will be going back. I just don't understand the concept behind this. If it offered some therapeutic benefit, like a moisturizing effect, or to set your make-up, or something, anything, at least it would make sense to me. As is, this has me wondering what Chanel was even thinking to make something that is so much lighter than a body mist, especially at the insanely inflated price. Well, all is not lost. My dh also bought me a bottle of Paris Biarritz, that I really like. At least I can smell it for a few hours which is more than can be said about this one.

This should not be advertised as perfume at all, even if it is "eau parfumee" which for me means even weaker than EDC. It smells nice and refreshing, it is like a fruity aroma you would like to smell more and more .. but with "body cream" or "shower gel" silage and longevity. The CHANEL salesman told me you can spray this on yourself, clothes, lingerie or anything else. And this is the real purpouse of this, to give a scent to all the surrounding objects, ourselves included. I thought it can be a fruity unisex scent, but after wearing it for a few times, it is 100% feminine. For 50€/USD it could be a nice cosmetic product with CHANEL quality and packaging, but for a perfume level of price and this concept, it is highly misleading. CHANEL already offers face cream, body lotion and hydrating lotion (we got samples).
